Stopped for pasty and salad. Pasties are massive. I had traditional and husband had lamb and mint. Both delicious. So big I could only eat half but took the rest home and just as tasty later. Pastry could have been slightly crispier but was still good and filling was plentiful and really good.

A pasty full of promise was let down by the addition of way too much salt. No other flavours could compete with the barrow load of salt that had been tipped into the mix. Maybe it was just an unlucky batch but I would think twice about buying another.

Having travelled up from the south of Cornwall, prior to visiting the castle we decided to pop in for a quick drink. Even at this time of the year it was busy but we did not have to wait too long for a table. The coffee and cake was good, and having looked at what was available for lunch, we decided to return after a good workout going to the castle and back. All meals were cooked from fresh and was everything we were looking for in that it was tasty, well prepared and good value for money. It was busy at each time we visited, with the ladies working hard throughout in serving, preparing and clearing tables. My only observation would be that may be they could do with one or two extra staff to make life easier for them. There never appeared to be any undue in diners receiving their meals and drinks but something the management should think about to make it less hectic for the ladies who were working there.

I chose the steak pasty as the vegetable pasty had sold out. The steak pasty should be called the onion pasty as there was about 90% onions and VERY little steak. What a waste of money and what a disappointing lunch . I would expect more for my 8 pounds. I do NOT recommend this restaurant

Had the steak and Stilton first and I was surprised of the weight of it! I’ve read some of the other reviews about the amount of onions, but this is a traditional pasty! Regardless of the amount of vegetables in, it tasted amazing! So much so I went back the next day and had the lamb pasty. I preferred the Steak and Stilton but it was still tasty. Looking forward to trying another.

I was with my husband, visiting the cafe for their delicious scones in the afternoon, when I was suddenly taken ill. The staff were so kind and caring. I can name one - Emily, who sat with me as I lay on the grass waiting for a call from the medics (Emily had called the ambulance for me). In the end, I came round enough to get to the car (husband fetched it from the carpark). I was probably dehydrated after walking down to the castle and back in hot sunshine, having forgotten to take water with me. However, the point of this review is to thank Emily and the staff of the cafe for their kindness and care. We shall certainly be back - next year, fully hydrated!! Your scones are delicious and your customer care is beyond compare. Thankyou.

We love it here. It’s a very traditional pasty place - if what you want is more modern recipes then this is not the place for you. But the quality of the pasties is great. They are big! Come with a side salad if you eat in. There are old reviews that say it isn’t dog friendly, but it definitely is. You can eat anywhere (inside or in the garden) with your dog. They sell home baked dog treats that my dog loved. The setting isn’t a plush, modern, fashionable place. It’s just not that kind of cafe. But the loos are clean, the tables are clean, and it’s a comfortable place with a bit of character. So if that’s what you’re after, you’ll love it.

The pasties look and smell great. Unfortunately, they seem to be mostly onion filling. The Lamb pastie had almost no meat and loads of onion. The steak and Stilton smelt great but was mostly onion with barely any steak. I do not recommend.

When you first see these pasties they are massive and you think wow. I had a lamb one had next to no lamb in it. No seasoning so really bland and was full of onions. I tried some of a family members steak, this was also lacking in meat while it was seasoned. I’d much prefer a smaller better quality pasty. Shop elsewhere

We visited Pengenna Pasties on a Bank holiday Monday after a visit to Tintagel Castle in May and during a weeklong visit to Cornwall. We drove here and there are a number of (pay & display) car parks nearby though these get very busy at popular times. Pengenna Pasties is located in Tintagel High Street not far from the castle entrance. We visited early afternoon and the restaurant was quite busy but we found a table to the rear in the garden area which was quite nice as the sun was shining, We ordered our meals and drinks at the counter and these were delivered to the table in a reasonable time. My wife had the savoury scones and I had the Lamb Cornish pasty both accompanied by a cup of tea. We both enjoyed our meals, I thought the Cornish pasty, (the last of my Cornish trip), was very good, well filled and served with a salad. We both thought it was a good way to finish our Cornish break and feeling thoroughly refreshed we left for the next stage of our journey to Dorset. Would certainly visit here again if in the area and unreservedly recommend it to others.

Context: Ate here before visiting Tintagel Castle Positives: Friendly staff, free wifi, water jugs, large portions Negatives: Quite expensive (but perhaps not so given the unexpectedly large portions). In a week of eating pasties, this was our least favourite both in terms of taste and texture. Perhaps we caught them on a bad day. Summary: There are lots of places in Tintagel but this is closest to the entrance to the castle.

Rating purely on my experience of eating a pasty! Steak l, looked the business, perfect shape, size, coloring, pastry nice enough.. but what a disappointment 😞. I've had a better pasty for taste from Morrisons! Kept biting into it, hoping that it would improve but nope. No veg, my husband thought he spotted abit of swede but not in mine. Plenty of meat and potato and onions. Sounds delicious doesn't it? But for me, frustratingly tasteless. Sorry guys

We visited Pengenna Pasties in august on our day trip to Tintagel but have bought pasties from there in St Ives and Tintagel many times before. Love the Pengenna pasties they are very generous a medium was big enough and they are always cooked fresh and packed of filling the pastry is always light and crisp and seasoning and gravy are spot on for my taste this year we took some home and had them for dinner but it’s lovely buying one and sitting out opposite looking towards the castle! The cafe looked lovely and had a varied menu including the famous pasties and the shop had cakes and cream teas and ice creams for sale and cold water welcome after a trek back up the hill from the castle! My eldest son enjoyed his gingerbread man he had instead of a pasty We will be back again next year keep up the hard work!

We arrived in Tintagel after a three hour drive and after pitching up at our campsite we were hungry and wanted some lunch. Pengenna Pasties looked very inviting, lovely display in the window, scones, shortbread, HUGE pasties and an inviting smell. As we queued we watched a gentleman in the back of the shop mixing the pasty filling, and other members of staff putting trays in the oven. I don't eat meat so my friend and I ordered a vegetable pasty to share and a gingerbread man. The staff had no customer service skills and were disinterested and monosyllabic. Well what can I say...the pasty had little in the way of taste and was seriously under seasoned, the veg looked like it had come from a bag of mixed frozen vegetables, although I found a few sliced courgettes...but only in one end. The pastry was thin apart from the crimp but rather dry and the whole thing was disappointing and tasteless...it was dry enough to compare with the breasts of any witch in Boscastle Witch Museum, if you ascertain my meaning. The gingerbread man was even worse, stale, chewy and not in a nice sticky manner and also completely tasteless. Put it this way, none of it was cheap and in Cornwall one expects a decent pasty at the very least. These people need to up their game, they should take a tip from the wonderful Burns the Bread bakery in Glastonbury where the fare is consistently good, even the vegan pasties are delicious and these people also run a baking school to learn to do it properly. Not impressed, sorry.

Couldn't sit in the lovely garden at the back because the restaurant were understaffed. The pasties in themselves were terribly disappointing! Thick heavy crust, portions were outrageously big and taste was just wrong.

Usually buy my pasty’s from the branch in St Ives when we have been staying further south, but was pleased this branch was here as we were visiting the castle during our holiday. Have to say the service was not with a smile, and the...

Barely edible and overpriced pasties served by a miserable and rude woman, with an apathetic and bored-looking staff. We asked if the pasties were hot and the woman behind the counter rolled her eyes at us. Would give zero stars if possible.

Lovely prawn salad platter which was generous portion of prawns. Followed with homemade apple pie and ice cream which was gorgeous. Staff very friendly particularly the young man who served us. Would recommend

We had booked a table in the garden. Beautiful weather. Ordered food at the outside bar area. Order 3 cream teas. The scones were delicious. One of the best ever eaten. Also ordered 1 mackerel salad. Enjoyable and relaxed.

My family and I have always had superb meals at The Bucket of Blood and ieven had my birthday meal with my family there last summer. Haven't been able to return there until last week. Subsequently we were going there expecting really nice food as it is also such a nice pub in itself. When I saw the menu I was shocked as it was mainly sandwiches with the only hot meals being fish pie with a salad, scampi or halumi ciabatta. The halumi was like tough rubber and the scampi felt like just a plate full of frozen food heated up. It felt like the chef had gone ill and staff had to make do. If this is the new norm as far as food is concerned, you're really missing the point and will cause lots more like ourselves to avoid going back there. If there was something wrong which caused a possible reduced menu, then it would have been good to have let us know. Thing is, our elderly mum was so looking forward to going back there due to our brilliant past experiences, that we didn't have the heart to pull out and so tolerated the dreadful choice and the food that arrived. I would put the quality of their pub food on par with that of The Pandora down on The Helford. But what we had last week was pretty shocking in terms of choice and quality. I sincerely hope it improves.

Fast service. Plenty of choice and availability. Lots of free seating too. B&M, Argos & Pets at Home on same retail park. Morrisons in petrol station just next door.

Absolutely fantastic lunch and an amazing friendly service. Such a great menu - I could have chosen so many things. I also think these guys are spot on with their prices. We will be back very soon.
