Bucket of Blood Pub in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Went for a roast dinner as they have started back up and it was hands down best roast I’ve had out! Meat was cooked to perfection highly recommend!! Big portions for decent price 👍

Now this is how a pub should be run! My husband and I booked a table for an evening meal after reading TripAdvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. The welcome was warm, the staff beyond helpful and polite and the food was absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were very generous and represented excellent value for money. The service was excellent and attentive without being intrusive. The pub itself is delightful, full of character and obviously a local favourite and we could see why. Would absolutely go here again and recommend it to visitors like us. A great dog friendly pub!

Wanted a meal in a cosy country pub with a chilled feel, and found it here. Really friendly staff, so courteous and welcoming. Partner said it's the best fish pie he's ever had, and my bangers and mash were banging! Beautiful dessert too. Will definitely visit again when we are lucky enough to be back in this beautiful county.

A fantastic pub, that is warm and welcoming. Great food, great ales and some great live music on an open mic evening. Cannot wait to visit again!

Great traditional pub, nice atmosphere and excellent pub food, with very large portions. Nice selection of beers too. Highly recommended.

We had a most enjoyable maiden visit to this pub. The landlord, Brett, was extremely welcoming and hospitable. The menu was fairly basic but the food was good quality and the portions were ample. There is a good range of beers including 0% alcohol beer on draft.

We went for Sunday lunch, meats from the smoker, with allllll the sides, it was DELICIOUS, and very generous portions! A really refreshing change from the traditional meat and 2 veg approach to Sunday lunch :) All the staff are amazing and the pub is lovely and clean, really cosy, retaining original features and decked out with local art and loads of plants. And there was even live music! 10 out 10... Best pub in Hayle.

While fish not named so £17 was expensive for a fish and chips Lovely atmosphere but we were very disappointed with a £90 food bill no starter no puds and 2kids had cheesy chips

First visit on wed 16 Oct. Ribeye steak was superb, staff attentive and courteous. It was an open mic night , very enjoyable. Def recommend and look forward to another visit when in the area.

Been meaning to visit the Bucket Of Blood for years & wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere was great, the staff were friendly & the food..... well my medium rare ribeye steak was cooked to perfection. If you do one thing while in Cornwall & like good food, visit this pub.

We didn't stop for food but it did look very nice. I didn't hear anyone say anything other than good things. Great local ales and ciders. The staff are brilliant, very welcoming and helpful. Next time I'm in that neck of the woods, I'll be back.

We stopped here for a drink. There was plenty of parking. The service at the bar was very friendly and the seating very comfortable. Everywhere was spotlessly clean including the toilets. What a lovely traditional old pub with bags of character. We would recommend.

Tried all day to book a table but no one would would answer the phone, left a voicemail but no one got back to us. Tried calling in but hadn't got a table and surly barmaid told us "you need to book". Food may be good as was busy but we'll never know.

A very cozy pub with a good menu. The staff is super friendly and attentive. However, you should reserve in advance, otherwise it can be difficult to find a place.

Typical English pub in an absolutely feel-good atmosphere with good music and the best food. The boss must be one of the nicest people on the planet, as sweet and friendly as he takes care of his guests!

You can usually tell how good a place will be when you are welcomed with a smile and made to feel welcome! Whilst the menu was not large the thought that had gone into it was good and the choice was good. The quality of the food was excellent. Service was pleasant and well timed. Will be returning!

Definitely book as the food is amazing , staff are great & dogs are allowed . We had the fish pie , chicken burger was huge , hunters chicken was great .

Visited 22/08 family of four. Service atmosphere and food were all excellent. I ordered the bucket burger which was out of this world. Probably the best burger I've eaten to date. Had to make this known to the barman and was more than happy to leave a tip.

We reserved a table for 5pm on a Friday night in August. We had lovely food it was well presented and filled us both up for the evening. We had the Bucket of Blood burger and the Hunters Chicken, both where delicious and would recommend eating their. A good atmosphere and very welcoming.

My recollection of this place is not good. Many years back we caravan-ed in the area. We called in for food.My son is type 1 diabetic and probably around 6 years old at the time. As some will know carbs are important in managing blood sugars in diabetics. At that point of the holiday he was fed up looking at chips so I tried to negotiate having the chips changed to mash potato on his kids meal. A simple task you would think. The conversation went something like this. Excuse me would it be possible to change the chips on the kids meal to mash potato.. I explained he was fed up with chips. The answer I was given was.. well it's on the blackboard isn't it.. I replied yes I can see mash potato on the blackboard but it's not offered on the kids menu..the answer I received was..well it wouldn't be on the board if it wasn't available.. an awkward silence ensued, after which I asked my wife to gather both kids and we left. The guy was rude and obnoxious and had no earn dealing with the public. Probably the worst experience I had throughout my years of travelling through the UK. I should mention that this was a number of years back and hopefully that moron has been sacked since that time. However I wouldn't darken their door again.

What a cosy little pub! We had an excellent meal here, halloumi burger, steak & hunters chicken were the best we’d ever had. The staff were also really welcoming, friendly & attentive. Dogs welcome too. So glad we stopped by.

Went past here on my way to a holiday park up the road the other day, and decided to come in tonight with my partner for a few drinks and all I can say is that it’s a great place, lovely staff and good atmosphere. Didn’t try any of the food but the food that everyone around us was eating looked fantastic. If you’re in/around Hayle this place should be on your list of places to go.

My fourteen year old son had a chicken burger which he highly recommended, It was a proper bit of chicken and not any minced up preformed frozen rubbish. The hunters chicken was not dry or over done and had a lovely BBQ sauce. I had the fish pie which was delicious even though I am not a big salmon fan, Puddings are very good too. The staff were very attentive and I would definitely return to Bucket of Blood if in the area again.

Only popped up for a drink on our last day of holiday but will definitely go back there a few times when we next visit. The food looked fantastic and it was fully booked! Lovely old pub, friendly staff, great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Stumbled across this beautiful , quirky, old pub. Wonderful warm ambience and a friendly welcome. Loved the decor. Dog friendly too! Served quickly and efficiently, with some wonderful named ales and ciders on offer. We loved it so much, that we decided to order food. Very reasonable priced and plenty on the plate for a hungry appetite.... Delicious all round. We all throughly enjoyed our food, the friendly service and overall feel of this place. Definitely recommend!

Cute pub with a lovely atmosphere. We stubble across it on a walk, had a drink, and loved the fact it was busy serving food, we booked. I had fish pie & my husband had hunters chicken, both were delicious.

Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Fish and chips and a homemade fish pie were superb, followed by sticky toffee pudding and an ice cream. The apple crumble is legend but they had ran out! 😪😪

This is a great pub. Small and very enjoyable. It was not open on Monday or Tuesday while we were there. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Thought we'd give this place a try as they advertise as dog friendly. Was glad we did as staff were so welcoming and helpful and loved petting our fur baby. Food was delicious and service was very quick. Would recommend thoroughly.

The food was delicious and the service we have received from the staff was amazing. It’s a nice and cozy place. I’d recommend it. I had hunters chicken and it was on point with a good portion size. My sister had one of the burgers and she it was one of the juiciest burgers that she’d eaten in a long time.

Good pub but if you want food, reserve a table. Didn't get anything to eat because of this so can't comment.

Walking up to the pub and going in we expected big things... and we weren't disappointed.. we went in looking for food upon saying they were fully booked inside(always a good sign especially on a Wednesday night) they said we could eat outside and accommodated us.. definitely worth booking in advanced.. the burger didn't disappoint was juicy, fresh and tasty the side salad was beautifully presented..we'll definitely be back next time we're in the area

Really good home cooked food, decent portions and a small but great choice of St. Austell beers on draught. Hicks was a lovely new surprise! Very friendly service too. Will be back hopefully someday!

Great dog friendly pub with great food. Service was excellent, and the portion size was huge. I had the Hunter's Chicken, husband had the Scampi and chips, and daughter had Chicken strips and chips. We'll definitely be back.

Always come here for lunch which is amazing, the drinks are good too. Staff are great. The main chef nick is great! My fave part of the pub is the beer garden as it’s massive!!

What a super friendly, super cosy pub! We couldn’t fault it! No wonder it’s advised to book a table if you are wanting to eat. The food we had was delicious and the portions very generous. A real relaxed vibe and dog friendly as well. We would definitely recommend if only for a drink! Loved it!

Went for something to eat had no space which is a shame as looks a nice place Staff was nice and pleasant unable to give a hight rating as in able to try the food Easy parking a bit of a walk to the entrance so this will not be wheelchair friendly and moving round the pub would be difficult as well not too much space

We booked here for Sunday lunch whilst on holiday after reading some excellent reviews for their roasts. When we arrived we ordered drinks and were then told they no longer do roasts. As we were there we decided to order from the menu that they had. 3 of us ordered burgers which were ok but nothing special and our daughter ordered sausage, mash and peas. When hers arrived the sausages and mash were covered in onion gravy, she absolutely hates onions and they make her quite ill, she tried to separate them from the gravy as much as possible but she really struggled to enjoy her meal. Had the menu stated that it came with onion gravy she wouldn’t have ordered it or been able to say ‘no gravy’. Sadly, overall we were disappointed with our visit and won’t be recommending it.

came here on a saturday night as we’re staying at the local holiday park and we’ve driven past it so many times on previous visits to cornwall, we just had to try it. the service was very friendly and kind. i had the Chicken Burger served with chips, i found it very nice, just so you are aware, it’s huge!! but there are vegetables in the burger which isn’t advertised on the menu. the side of garlic bread was ok, although didn’t get much garlicky taste. had the Eton Mess for pudding which was very nice. overall, large portions, tasty meals and a great pub to head to in Hayle. would highly recommend! (do book around 1-2 weeks before you go as can get booked up quickly)

Awful experience, came for a wake of 16 after booking 2 months ago ,as soon as we walked in told we had to be gone at 7.30 , then when food was ordered the same , then after my son in law !!! Was ordering drinks for the last hr for him and our daughter!! Told he was under age !! Just the attitude of the women in front of a family !!! Doing a wake awful attitude never come back and we have family close

Very friendly little pub ,lovely bar team and fantastic food.probably the best I've had in ten years of visits to this little village.Even the chef/landlord came and had a chat.This is one place you need to not just drink but I would highly recommend the food.

Just wow, the atmosphere, decor and food was just out of this world! We orderd 4 meals at a very reasonable price. All food locally sorced and we wasnt disappointed! If your visiting Hayle i would make this pub/restaurant your must. Dog friendly and the plants around the bar was so well kept it really reflexed the managers love for the pub, who we spoke to and couldnt of been more welcoming or informative.

Because of they were fully booked we couldn’t eat in that day but we enjoyed atmosphere. Next time if we go to Cornwall I want to visit and enjoy their food and talk. The lady who served us (maybe owner) was super friendly and nice :)

Down here on holiday, second visit, tried to get in first time, fully booked, so booked ahead this time, just as well, guess what fully booked from 17.00 until closing!! Food fabulous, friendly staff, what more could you want. Super ambience.

Got to try it but book ahead as its very popular. Period pub, great atmosphere. Food superb, and on the night we visited, live music. Have say we booked ahead, just as well as we found they were fully booked from 17.00 to closing, and this was off season!!

Finally made it to this lovely country pub for my 48th birthday. Had an amazing scallop meal
