Food was terrible. Chips were overcooked, sausage in batter was beyond greasy and they forgot my curry sauce.

Sorry my bad, really thought I’d ordered chips too

Ordered food from here on Sunday for me and my daughter, Monday morning we were both very unwell. We both have got food poisoning. Our stomachs are in knots and coming out both ends. I got the chills and sweats and headache and been feeling dizzy. The only thing we both ate the same was the chips. 3 days on and I still ain't well. I will be putting in a formal complaint as this is not acceptable. We won't be eating here again

What lovely guys, they made a fuss of my little boy and gave him lollipops whilst we were waiting for our food. I had fish and chips and it was lovely and fresh, not greasy at all. My son and husband shared a chicken burger and chips and it was plenty big enough for two with some left over! Welcome addition to have such nice, hard working people in the village. Thank you!

Food was decent but the overall experience was ruined by a delivery driver complaining about the amount of food he delivered, stating this time is fine but next time unless it's over a tenner the order will be refused despite me paying an extortionate £3 delivery fee to accommodate the small order. For this reason, this will be the only time I will be ordering from this establishment so please tell your driver not to worry about next time.

called here today for the first time, had a nice welcome from the owner. He cooked the chips fresh and whilst waiting had a good chat eith him about his new business have started the venture only 8 months ago. i ordered a chip butty and steak and mushroom pie. The chips were perfectly cooked and the butty was soft and fresh. The pie was also very nice. Would highly recommend going here for your chips. Keep up the good food and friendliness.

Ordered 2 kebabs and both looked like they have been pulled out the bin!! Chips were burnt and hard. Mint sauce looks like cottage cheese!!

Tried out the chicken doner today and it was delicious. MUCH better than I expected, the best I’ve had in a while. The cod was fresh, crispy and light, as always. Wouldn’t order from anywhere else now.

At least half of the chips so hard I was worried I'd broken a tooth on first bite. The garlic bread was good and after eating some chips my son tried giving me his food as he thought the chips were inedible. Service and garlic bread good otherwise I wouldn't rate it 2 stars. Chips are a rare treat for me and I couldn't eat many and my teeth still hurt. Unfortunate.

Bought some chips only second time of visiting, tasted funny, overcooked like crisps, will not be going back. Fast service was the only good thing !!

All food arrived stone cold. Small portions for the price. Chips were hard and scrappy, paper dripping with grease too. I had been wanting to try this place for a while, very dissapointed. Waste of money, everything went in the bin pretty much. Just to add no i didn't phone to complain as the time was getting late and the quality of food has completely put me off.

I was a bit sceptical about buying a kebab and pizza from a fish and chip shop. However, I am glad I did! The pizza was clearly hand made, with ample toppings and cheese. The kebab was tasty and the salad was fresh and plentiful. I don’t normally do reviews, but I feel the boys deserve it. They were polite and friendly when I went to collect and clearly work hard. Well done. We’ll definitely be back!

Ordered fish chips & sausage. The chips tasted really old/stale and the sausage looked grey. Decided to give them a chance after reopening and won’t be ordering again.

The guy was very happy and very polite. The food was warm even after a 15 minute drive to get home, and it was all really good quality. 10/10 from me, would definitely recommend

Sausages and batter were lovely but lacked batter. Fish bites were beautiful but quite oily. The hot curry sauce was amazing. Chicken burger was fine and the pizza was lovely too. The only thing that was horrible were the chips!

Just had our first takeaway delivered from Pencod Fish Bar. It arrived at the exact time we booked it for, the food was piping hot and absolutely delicious. My only disappointment is that I’m starting my diet again on Monday so will be my last take out for a while!!

Ordered a few little things, the only thing we could say was the gravy was too thin. Everything else was perfectly tasty and prices are brilliant. If you need a takeout I’d highly recommend.

I had a nice pizza from Dexters during a recent trip to the area. Swift, friendly service and with a wide choice of toppings included it was good value. 12" was enough for lunch the next day too.

Food was good, they didn't have everything in stock but what they did have was nice. Ordered online, took longer than expected for the order to be ready for collection. Staff were friendly on collection.

Chips were very greasy & soggy. Ordered a Irish curry sauce & a katsu curry sauce with our food, both tasted exactly the same with a strong vinegar tang. Had food a few months ago and it was decent, not now. There's only one chippy worth going to in pencoed and it's not Dexter's. If you know, you know.

The chips where super tasty. The burgers where 0ut of this world. It came cold but if you order out don't complain. Recommend highly x

Said they were going to cook it fresh but the fish was soggy they said they had jumbo sausages and they send small burnt ones they said they had Irish curry and they send something completely different most of it went in the bin and theh used to be really good there but the last few times it's been shocking complete waste of money

First time ordering from Dexters and I was impressed. Phil ordered the sea food platter, the squid was really good and the fish bite was a bigger portion than expected... great value for money at £8.95. I ordered the 12" pizza and its was absolutely lovely. LOADS of toppings and didn't hold back on the cheese, again I found to be great value. They put a new menu in the bag which states if you download the app you get 20% off first app order, that gorgeous pizza for £8.80 would be a bargain 😀

So so disappointed in this place now. Ordered when it first opened and had beautiful, homemade burgers ( by that I mean mince and seasoning shaped in to a burger).We rarely eat takeaways as we object to paying for food we can usually cook better ourselves but that time we were really happy and it inspired us to do our own so I know how easy it is to do a good burger. The burgers tonight were frozen slabs that I would not expect from a burger van never mind from somewhere touting itself as gourmet!!! £60 for five and what a complete waste of money….if you want a good burger avoid like the plague…. In response to your reply : thank you for adding every detail of my order, not sure that was relevant. I am sorry but that was not a homemade burger made in a burger press and was completely different to the burger we had two years ago. Flavour, texture meat quality….none of it was good….I make homemade burgers regularly and there is no way on this earth that did not come from a factory.

Had many a chipper tea from Dexters and never been disappointed. Thought we’d give delivery a go. Super quick ordering and delivery. Great food as always.

Usually good takeaway, but our meals this evening were terrible. Chips were cold, sausage overcooked and the chicken breast was so overcooked and dry it was like eating cardboard. Disappointing. EDIT. 10 mins after posting this I received a phone call offering to replace the food. Thank you for that, some faith restored.

Ordered food from here tonight spent newly 40 pound gourmet Burgers was far from gourmet IV had better from my local buger van chips where cold could not call them fries wings where not to bad u got try things once IV tried not for me customer service was not best as they messed my order up

We have spent over £200 here on takeaways over the last 2 months. Our first buy was absolutely divine, could not fault it everything was perfect, fish bites were huge, crispy with stunning white fish inside. Burgers where out of this world, perfectly cooked. 2nd order things where missing, and tonight's order things were missing along with a soaking wet peice of fish, burnt burgers and buns, salad seemed to be a week old, rubbery, definitely not fresh. Items missing again, drinks. This place was very promising when it first opened. I don't understand why they can't maintain the standard they began with.

Ordered from here numerous of times and Won’t be ordering from here again, my recent order was absolutely terrible and a waste of £30, it arrived almost 2 hours after placing my order, the pizza was just about warm and not even cut. The chicken wings were hard and dry as well as just about warm, was only able to eat 2 of them. I was called half hour after placing my order to be told that they couldn’t supply 1 of the items as well as forgetting a pot of dipping sauce AGAIN!

Nice staff and I've been really impressed with how they've expanded during lockdown, unfortunately the food can be really hit and miss. Just received two rock hard boxes of chips, most of which ended up in the bin, and previously recieved a solid veggie burger which was later refunded. I think preordering for collection doesn't work as the food seems to be ready too early and ends up sitting in the warmers. Could be good but they need more consistency.

Really friendly staff, nice food and good prices for what you get. Lots of customisation so be prepared for a lot of choices.

Diabolical. Stone cold hard chips, disgusting and ruined our meal. We had to wait for new fresh chips to be delivered therefore the chicken and fish was ruined. Don't go here don't recommend these at all if I could give 0 stars I happily would!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ordered from Just Eat. Ordered Chicken burger and chips. The burger was very flavorful and had a very fresh bun. Chips were also nice but good have been better. Overall very good would go again.

First time trying Dexters today and the whole family were impressed. Thick beef burgers - tasted amazing! Salads freshly made. Coleslaws and sauces were good extras to the meal. The kids loved the fries and chip shop chips, all cooked to perfection. The mozzarella sticks, chicken nuggets and chicken strips all went down a treat. All the food was packed well and nicely served in the boxes. There was no fault with anything we had and for a family of 5 ordering Dexters got everything right on the order.

Oh my goodness! First time going to Dexters since they took over, will definitely be going again! Fish and chips was lovely, succulent flakey fish, crisp batter and the chips were excellent too. Portions were excellent, fish was really big and represented great value for money. Definitely worth a visit!!

First time trying Dexters last night, and I was so impressed. The food was simply delicious. I can't say that I've ever tried a bit burger, and the sides that come with the box meals are perfect. Needless to say, I will most definitely be ordering from here again.

Lovely food, really tasty first time we ordered. 2nd time we ordered there was a mix up with items of food missing. this review has been changed as we ordered food tonight was told a time. Then the time was changed to a later time. Then the food turned up and was not the right order and ours had been delivered to somebody else meaning ours had to be cooked fresh as they had touched it. Had fab Fish and Chips when first opened and the pizzas 🍕 are spot on and will be my go too Pizza place from now on. Recommend

We ordered the food to arrive for 7pm and it came at 7.20 which was great. We were disappointed with the dirty fries, the fries wernt very hot, and were soft, edging on soggy, maybe becuase of the tray foil tins they were served in. The burger lacked seasoning, and was cooked without any flame heat for char taste. Burger sauce came as a side pot rather than in the burger. Expected much better for the price but also appreciate that a burger made and then sent out for delivey will never be as good as dining in. Overall over priced and not great quality. Just to Mention that 4 adults ate and we all have the same verdict.
