Pembroke Lodge in Richmond upon Thames

I really need to write 2 reviews - 30th March was our son and daughter-in-law's wedding in Pembroke Lodge - it was fabulous. Beautiful setting, wonderful staff, brilliant catering. Also,, we went back the next day (Easter Sunday) seeking out lunch and they came up trumps again - Kelvin found us a spot under an arbour which was perfect for adults and children alike. Just be warned - the food portions are generous!!!! Thank you all.

I held a family party in the Russell rooms. I can't recommend it enough. It was easy and unfussy to arrange . The staff were professional and flexible. At the event the room was beautiful and the food very good ( the smell of hot scones as we arrived was wonderful.) The staff in attendance were helpful yet discreet. All in all avery enjoyable experience much enjoyed by all.

Magnifique endroit pour prendre un thé anglais. Il y a une magnifique terrasse pour s'installer à l'extérieur dans le Richmond Park, mais le mieux c'est l'intérieur avec des bow windows, des cheminées, des tables cirées ; l'impression d'être dans Downton Abbey ! De plus les gâteaux étaient excellents : je crois avoir mangé le meilleur scone de ma vie, avec la traditionnelle clotted cream et la confiture de fraise. Les muffins sont excellents également.

Pembroke Lodge hosted our wedding and we were thoroughly happy with the excellent service that they provided. The setting and views are beautiful, the food received lots of compliments, and we were able to enjoy our day whilst they made sure everything ran smoothly. The staff were all professional, helpful and friendly. We live locally and could not have picked a better venue. We enjoy our walks in the park and often stop in for a coffee and cake - it is a place that will forever hold special memories for us. A huge thank you to all of the Pembroke Lodge team!

Visited for our daughter’s wedding in The Belvedere. We had the most wonderful day, with everything running like clockwork. The food was lovely and the staff were friendly, helpful and unobtrusive. If anything was not as planned we were unaware of this, which is exactly as it should be. Such a beautiful setting and views, with a lovely sunset too. What more could we ask for?

With more than a dozen different tea types to choose between, a visit to this cosy little cafe in Richmond Park will not leave you complaining about lack of options! It’s the perfect meeting place for a stroll and then a cuppa, with great views from the outside tables if the weather’s fine.

Very fond of this place and go frequently for lunch and a walk in the park. Beautiful house and gardens, spectacular views. Went yesterday on a cold January day and enjoyed a hot meal whilst staring out of a big window as snow fell. Vegetable curry was good (£15) and a very generous portion - think maybe I would have preferred slightly smaller portion and correspondingly lower price. Cafe staff are delightful - very helpful and cheerful - especially the young man on the till. Seem to be happy working together - overall a cosy and friendly atmosphere.

Me and my husband recently got married in the Belvedere suite at Pembroke. We had a fantastic day. Everything ran very smoothly from the planning process to the actual day. The food was amazing. All our guests are still talking about the food. The view and grounds are stunning. Overall very happy.

My husband and I got married in the Belvedere suite at the beginning of Sept 2023. The venue itself was incredible, the food was stunning and the grounds are amazing. Would highly recommend this venue. However, I would recommend that if Robert is your banqueting manager you ask to change! Thankfully our family were more prepared and organised than Robert was. After leaving this review Louise responded to state he only got the shape of the cake table wrong. Robert made 2 people who don’t drink feel like their sobriety was an issue. The venue charged people for drinks whilst there was still a tab. He changed the timing of the meal meaning that we were unable to get sunset photos. He claimed he was present for a medical incident which had to be dealt with by a guest instead. Be very careful who you have dealings with at this venue. They will belittle issues big or small

Whenever I visit friends in London we take a walk through Richmond Park. An oasis of calm in a busy city. We then go to Pembroke Lodge which is just wonderful.

We hired the Russell suite for our wedding ceremony this September. As the sun came out we were able to have the ceremony in the woodland garden which was amazing. The staff were helpful throughout the planning process and did a great job coordinating on the day particular thanks to Louise for help and constant communication regarding logistics in the run up and to Robert for his help and calm organisational approach on the day. This venue is stunning, the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and we all had a great day. The food provided for lunch was delicious and they were able to accommodate some changes and requests after our tasting and up until 10 days before the wedding. We highly recommend this venue!

Pembroke Lodge, it’s a lovely place to visit the gardens are stunning and there are amazing views of the surrounding areas. The two Cafes offer something for everyone the outdoor one offering family, friendly fare and the one inside the lodge offering really nice sandwiches and hot food. I’ve been coming here since a child it’s always lovely. The staff are really friendly and have a great sense of humour. It’s a lovely Oasis of peace.

We came for a snack lunch and to see the gardens surrounding the house and, of course the wonderful view. I've visited on and off over the last 25 to 30 years. The gardens near the entrance were an immediate disappointment. One parterre bed was empty with unfinished clipping to the hedge - the other was withering and unkempt. The border looked neglected and the border next to the house round the corner was bare and this is the 8th June when everything should have been planted! Also the borders to the left and right as you come through the entrance gate untended and weeds were apparent. All this used to be immaculate and had attractive planting. Into the cafe and I was so disappointed by the restricted offer of different foods. The sandwiches were so expensive, there no crisps or related snacks, and the cooked food counter was limited, offering no jacket potatoes, a staple for visitors wanting a light lunch. I wonder what is going on ? It does not look good for normal visitors or indeed for wedding participants. Such a beautiful house, too. Is it under new management?

We held our wedding at Pembroke lodge and would recommend this venue/weddings team to anyone ! Not only is the venue itself stunning, the team who oversaw everything were incredible right from the beginning. Such friendly, helpful and professional people, which is exactly what you need if you are planning a wedding. On the actual day of our wedding, Nelson made the day flow so effortlessly and he really just felt like a friend who was also in attendance. All the waitressing staff were also really attentive and helpful. The food from the in-house chefs was amazing, and we had so many compliments on all elements of Pembroke lodge from our guests. We would highly recommend !. Thanks again Nelson & team for making our day so special !.

Penbroke Lodge is one of my favourite places and I’ve been visiting frequently since I was a child. The views are amazing with seating indoors and outdoors not to mention the beautiful gardens which are superbly maintained. The food is delicious and and service is always outstanding. Hatun, who works is the tea rooms, has always gone above and beyond with the service she provides and it’s always with a personal touch and a friendly face. Her tea room is always immaculately clean and tidy and she really is an asset to Penbroke Lodge!

We had our wedding at Pembroke Lodge on 12 May 2023 and it was incredible! Our family and friends absolutely loved it and we had the best day ever. Everyone was so complimentary of the food and service, and Nelson was just fantastic throughout the planning process. We held the funeral reception for my husband in the Russell Suite. What a wonderful venue, overlooking his favourite park. The service was friendly and unobtrusive and the food and drink exactly as asked for. Thank you for making a special occasion for us at such a difficult time.

Came for a walk in the Park on a sunny day and stopped off for a snack and coffee. Selected a Coronation Chicken sandwich and a Cappuccino and found an empty table outside,enjoying the lovely view.Was taken aback at the cost,£8! The coffee was ok but the sandwich had tough,stringy chicken,a glutinous paste and bread a tad dry. A shame. Will still come to this lovely spot but won't eat.

I came with friends for lunch. It was very busy inside but we managed to get a table although there were tables on the terrace. We had sandwiches and cakes. The quality was very high and the prices are reasonable for the quality. There is a choice of hot food too.

Came here and met a friend. Had a couple of coffees together, then I stayed alone for lunch. Had a sandwich and an orange juice and sat outside looking over the rest of the park by myself. The lodge has changed since I was last there, more modern, cleaner and fresher looking. It was packed and the food on offer was a much better selection then I had seen in the past.

Cheap quality stodgy meals. Stingy portions of foods. Rip off prices. Making money because of location and park. Should do better menu options for vegetarians. Jacket potatoes dry and gritty. Should use organic produce and organic tea with organic milk. Need to update decor in dining room.

It was nice to walk from the Terrace Gardens to Richmond Park and look at the views. The laburnum walk is worth a visit. Pembroke Lodge was nice as the tea and cakes were delicious and it was good to sit down in a beautiful place.

A friend and I go walking in Richmond Park weekly and always stop at Pembroke Lodge for coffee. We have gotten to know many people over the years which is one of the reasons we enjoy going. Another reason is Hatun who is a great member of the staff. Always friendly and helpful, she is very good at interacting with the staff and hard working.

Slightly different than anticipated. Got there on a late sunny afternoon. The terrace with a view over Surrey Hills was beautiful- probably earlier that day very busy. There is no table service for your tea. Inside you can take a tray and fill up your plate with homemade scones, clotted cream and jam and enjoy your cream tea outside. So- very friendly stuff, reduced service but delicious food with an amazing view for £4.50. I doubt you‘ll find such a treat anywhere else in London. I am glad to see there are still wonderful places families who are not filthy rich can afford.

Celebrated family member’s wedding here, everything was superb! From the service to the pre meal drinks and canapés to the delicious meal. Gorgeous views and can’t be faulted as a venue.

Popped in here for a spot of lunch with mum, as always a good selection of hot and cold food was on offer. I went with the vegan dish of lentils and kale. The only down side is the selection of “puddings” no Apple pie or other traditional puds. I did go with a blueberry muffin which was ok, the donuts looked amazing however as I have a touch of ADHD these can send me hyper so I avoided them! (Lets just say don’t ever let me eat two Krispy Kream donuts, that was an interesting 24 hours!!)The seating area was a tad messy, maybe due to the clearing lady being on a break, however the tables were soon cleared

Took a friend out for a meal at Pembroke Lodge which is within Richmond Park. I loved Richmond park and we spent some time driving around and watching the deer (there are a lot of them). We then went to Pembroke Lodge the food is really good with very large portions. Friendly and helpful staff. The place was busy but there are spacious inside and outside dining areas. We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely go there again.

What a magnificent location - one could not really wish for a better spot - the view, the surroundings, the position in london, everything about it is magical - but the food, the coffee, the service is very ordinary - a sad reflection of the lack of attention to service in Britain - and it is expensive for what it is - but as place to be, it is wonderful

Cannot thank Pembroke Lodge enough for making our day so special. Faultless service and execution of the days plan. Food was delicious with many of our guests complimenting and remarking on the venue, service, food and lovely staff. Have to personally thank our wedding manager Laura and her team who was brilliant throughout. Couldn’t fault it and so many of our guests were in agreement and were equally delighted. Our photographer said it was the best wedding venue he had ever covered ! Worth everyone of the 5 stars I have given them.

It is always pleasant when my wife and I come to the Pembroke Lodge cafe for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, especially in summer. We can sit on the terrace with its broad view of London, watch people come and go and see the bold jackdaws grabbing at their food.

What excitement to anticipate a return to one of my favourite places when I visit Richmond. Always assured of a warm welcome and an extensive choice of menu for whatever meal you need, breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea and snacks... always tasty and tempting. The Lodge is situated in Richmond Park in a glorious setting with well maintained and beautiful gardens. Whilst the food was up to the expectations I was disappointed in only one thing...I happened to have been here when one of my favourite waitresses, Hatun, was away on holiday!! and I really missed the warmth of her big smile and warm welcome she seems to extend to all her guests! I have to note that the restaurant also looked a little untidy without her ever bustling presence. I will be sure to try to visit again soon and hope she has returned, it is so noticeable when she is away!

I drive around Richmond Park most weekends and sometimes stop off for a cup of tea, lunch etc. The cafe has a wide choice of teas, coffees and hot drinks. £2 for a pot of tea which gives you 3 tea cups worth. Just right. I have bought sandwiches, cakes etc fairly pricey but good quality. You can eat inside or outside. The terrace overlooks the Thames valley and is a spectacular view on a clear day. Watch out for crows who hang around the tables though. Bit of a nuisance. Inside the rooms are airy with high ceilings, traditional features and beautiful photo canvases of life and views in the park. Car park gets extremely busy at peak times, but I have usually found a space. The building itself if beautiful and well maintained with pretty flower beds by the path. Next to the car park is an information kiosk, toilets and a map of the park. Staff are very friendly and professional. A lovely place to stop. It is also a wedding venue so sometimes you see wedding parties in the adjacent rooms.

Our daughter and son-in-law’s wedding took place on July 27th with reception at Pembroke Lodge. It was superb from start to finish! In the build up we dealt mainly with Byron, who was the MC, and his attention to detail was impeccable. The food and wine were excellent quality, (and we are quite picky!) and the quantities were sufficient for the rowers and triathletes in the group! It rained briefly during canapés but this was handled promptly and efficiently and did not spoil the proceedings.

We were in London on holiday and wanted to see Richmond Park. We had never been there before and had no idea if there were any places for lunch etc and just happened to walk to Pembroke Lodge after seeing the famous Richmond deer.

Lunch will range from a proper homemade cooked meal , salad and bruchetta, to a sandwich or cakes. You can sit comfortably in side or on the patio looking over the park

Went here Saturday afternoon , we had scones and cream and sat outside in the sunshine , really pleasant. The tables were being cleaned immediately that someone vacated one , they done a good job. The prices are so reasonable £ 9.00 for two

On Monday 1st July we were attending a Wedding at Pembroke Lodge, so decided to arrive early and have some lunch first. Food & Drinks were excellent & so was the environment & team at venue.

We had a lovely cup of tea and cake at Pembroke lodge, which is one of the old hunting lodges. This place also caters for big events and weddings.

I’ve been regularly to Pembroke lodge recently and every time I have a very pleasant time. The hot drinks are well priced and they offer fidelity card system too, which is great!

We have visited Pembroke Lodge for many years at different times of day and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. The food is always good and all the staff friendly and helpful. On our last visit it was Hatun who made us feel so welcome.

Earlier today my wife and myself - together with a friend - visited Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park.

Lunch here was lovely. Huge portions were served by friendly helpful staff. Gluten free options were explained. Chips cooked separate, and gravy available. We sat outside with views towards Windsor Castle. The price was very good meaning it was excellent value for a family . Then a gentle walk through the beautiful gardens.

It is a best place to have a rest, relax, have vit D from sun, also to watch sunset, have more O2, and perfect place for weddings as well
