We booked for my birthday and it did not disappoint! Fantastic and friendly service from the staff, we were made to feel so welcomed throughout. We ordered lots of tasty starters and everything came out so fast and was hot and fresh, also ordered 1/2 duck which was delicious too. Really impressed and can't believe we hadn't been here before, we will be back! Thank you

Excellent service, and food. This restaurant has been our go to Chinese for 35 years. The quality of food and service is always excellent. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a quality meal in this area. Can not recommend this highly enough.

Beef chow mein incredibly bland Chicken hot and sour very sickly sweet Interior very clean, white and bright like a hospital with zero ambiance or coziness. Staff efficient but almost robotic Toilets very clean Nothing to really recommend this place

It's a few years since we visited this restaurant but with so few good Chinese restaurants around us now we thought it time to give it a go. Reviews were extremely varied and almost put us off, but the only way is to try it yourself. We were greeted and seated warmly and our waitress was very helpful. In fact on the main course she advised that we were in danger of over ordering and that was sound advice. We had an excellent meal served promptly and with ample portions. The restaurant itself is spacious and comfortable and although only half full when we arrived it was full by the time we left. Price wise it is not cheap but you usually get what you pay for and it is on a par with other restaurants in the area. Definately warrants another visit.

4 spare ribs for £7 is unreasonable. I get double the amount for the same price at my local takeaway in Cambridge.

Adopted this restaurant as our own,one of the best in the area! Always a pleasure to eat here.

We ordered a takeaway from here and the meat in one dish was like leather and the special fried rice was shocking the chicken and ham wasn't even cooked it looked raw we had to chuck the food in the bin We will not be using this restaurant again Very poor quality food

Excellent food, as always. This is the best Chinese Restaurant for miles around. Very good vegetarian choices. The staff are not chatty but I have always found them polite, and that’s fine for me, as I go for the food not the conversation!

We ordered from here as heard many good things about it however I was very disappointed in the chicken chow mein! Tasted very burnt and didn’t look appetising at all! Not sure if it was freshly cooked or just warmed up but was awful. Never again!

We ordered a take away on Friday night and picked it up and took it home. When we opened it a smell of burnt food Was the first thing we noticed. It was the chicken chow main. It had been totally burnt and reheated. We found approximately 2 pieces of chicken in it. I’m not sure how a qualified chef could let that Leave the kitchen. Obviously it was not edible and we could not be bothered to drive back and get our money back. But lesson learned, no more peking palace for us .

Average food for a hefty price and service tacked on the bill for good measure, whether you enjoyed the meal or not. There were too many bean sprouts in the Singapore vermicelli rice noodle dish and the Teryaki chicken arrived 10 minutes after my family received their food. Polite and attentive at the beginning, the staff friendliness tapered off after the meal was eaten and we left without a thank you or farewell.

Been going for 20 years. Food quality is great, always good. Service is fantastic and to top it all of prices are reasonable. A family favourite restaurant.

Reasonable prices, nice venue, the staff seem nice enough. The soft shell crab is just covered in salt, couldn't taste no crab. The ribs with the starters were covered in something that was life flaky concrete. Absolutely awful! Such a shame as we have been searching for a nice local Chinese since we moved to the area.

This is the best Chinese in the area by a country mile! And anyone who lives in the area would agree. Food is constantly of a very high standard and equally the service.

Really good place for a birthday gathering, food is really good & staff attentive, relaxed atmosphere

Called around 3pm booked for 6pm. 1 adult 2 kids 6&8. From the minute we walked in we were made to feel unwelcome! Shown to our table no chat no pleasantries! Waitress bat out of hell zero personality and that was the way every waiter behaved! Not asked once whether everything was ok. Kids asked where the toilet was and were spoke to abruptly. Such a shame as the food was faultless! Kids loved the food hated the staff! Hopefully the owners actually read these comments and can train their staff of get rid of them!

Forget your order then don't tell you for an extra 45 minutes. Expected me to await there for more time while the food was cooked. Barely an apology, not good enough.

Don't ask for a takeaway on a Saturday night. You'll be told an hour wait, only to be told 1 hour 45 minutes later that they don't have your order. And then expect you to wait while they then make it. Safe to say I just walked out. Joke of a restaurant.

The rudest staff ever, food was awful again, no welcome when walking in, just grunt at you, you get served in literally 3 minutes as they rush you out the door for the next table, simply an awful dining experience all round, shame as there is no competition really in surrounding area, but has gone massivley downhill.

Had a family birthday meal on Saturday night for 11 of us and the service and food in this restaurant is exceptional. The best Chinese food I’ve ever eaten, I would recommend it over and over again. Staff are really friendly as well.

The food was superb there were 6 of us we had the egg rice, chicken with mushrooms, sizzling chicken, pork noodles seaweed, prawn toast spring rolls and ribs one thing more than one item on the starter needs to be provided for each person 2 per person would of been ample. That is the only downside if any. Very polite place run like a tight ship. Highly recommended No accessible toilet though incase it was needed

We hadn’t been here for some time but were very glad we returned. If anything, we thought this clean & welcoming restaurant had got even better. Service was attentive & friendly with our young waitress giving excellent recommendations. The food was great, especially the tempura prawns and the teriyaki chicken. We will return soon.

THE MAN WAS REALLY RUDE. So disappointed in the service. And the way we were treated. We came in and asked nicely for a table and he was hostile towards us, looked at us with disgust and proceeded to shoo us away with the claims that they were full. People behind us came in and he asked them if they had a table. They did not, but he lead them to a table regardless This for me was blatant discrimination. If you’re black. Don’t go!

We always enjoy family meals here, the food is great and the staff are friendly. The only downside is the lack of gluten free options but the food that is gluten free is delicious.

Food is great, the waiting staff wait around you sometimes or check on you too often which I find really distracting and the place is LOUD.

I've always loved this place. Food was great, came out very quickly, but we felt extremely rushed from the moment we sat down. We asked for a desert menu but were told 'only icecream, no fritters because they take too long to cook'. So we didn't get a desert menu and no choice. Waiting staff leant right on us to clean the table, also stood on my in-laws foot, no acknowledgement. Bill was rushed over although we hadn't asked for it. We only had time for 1 drink each so after feeling they needed us out we left and went to the pub over the road.

This was a good quality Chinese meal to celebrate with family. Everything tasted freshly prepared and the restaurant is light and airy inside...and they do HK style crispy noodles!! Great veg options too.

Can service be to efficient? I feel it is here; we finished our meal and as put utensils down it was zipped away and next course was down. Felt very rushed. Perhaps to many staff. Felt our table was one if those squeezed in to get all space covered and so constantly felt the waiters walking past every 20seconds. This table sitting behind column should be removed in middle of restaurant. Food was good as always.

Have been going to this restaurant for a number ot year and gradually going downhill, last couple of visits not been great but tonight was disgusting, really poor food , service dreadful. Left most of main course, told the waitress who could not careless. Went to pay and spoke with the manager who simply said we a busy. Clueless really, such a shame as was a really good Chinese restaurant. And feel more disappointed with the staff attitude. One star 🌟 tonight at best Last three visits including tonight two stars ⭐️ ⭐️ at the very best

Website advertised closes at 10:30, phoned ahead to confirm restaurant open to 10:30, get there at 9:25, to be told sorry only takeaway now. Rubbish

The phone operator was extremely rude and it was difficult to get through. They should invest in a few telephone lines. Great food.

Really good Chinese restaurant, I was disappointed with one of my dishes, but that was my mistake in ordering it. One of the dishes arrived very late, but generally the service was excellent.

We were rather disappointed. It’s a few years since we have been here and it’s not the food we remember. Tepid, very little meat in main portions . Edible but lack lustre. Very ordinary!

Party of 7, birthday treat for my pertners mother. below average once again, service took ages, two starters arrived, on our second round of drinks, 10 minutes later a few more. Hot plates arrive but are cold when the meal comes to the table, noodles for two was more like a for one, chicken balls cooked twice very dry and chewy, lemon chicken was the same, 3 star surrounding with average food at 3 star prices. Yes we only went and done it again in the hope it would have been better after my last review, last visit for us this time, below average at best.

Best Chinese I have been to for quite some time. Food was excellent staff were friendly and just attentive enough. Finally pleasantly surprised by the bill ! Really good value.

Fabulous food. Great portions and menu. Just try it for yourself! I went back two weeks ago and had the worst service ever. I gave 5 stars previously but amending. We had a table to 7pm at 6.15pm we had paid for food and was chatting. We were asked to leave by the old lady who was rude and sharp. The normal waitress was a delight as usual. Sorry, but you don't treat customers this way if you want repeat business.

Best place near Stortford to get a takeaway 😋

Peking palace consistently provides fabulous Chinese food of a quality you would expect from London's best restaurants. Have been going there for many years and will continue to do so for many more to come. We have been as a family, date night, large groups of friends and they always deliver great service.

Was so looking forward to our celebration special meal...set meal c...starters came up within 5 minutes! Ribs were terrible no meat an horrible taste, chicken satay dry an overcooked, spring rolls hardly had any filling, seaweed an 2 triangles of sesame toast were ok.Duck was overcooked dry an hardly any meat.Main meal the prawn dish had 2 prawns Each!! ,chicken in black bean sauce was the nasty mass produced frozen rubbery chicken that curled up. Beef an onions an egg rice were ok..portions were small.At no point did the staff ask if our food was OK ( no Wonder! ). Service was OK but won't be using again so disappointed with the food.

Only had takeaways so far and would love the eat in at some time in the future as they food is wonderful and quite reasonably priced. Lovely bright and clean decor, which gives the restaurant a classy feel.

Food very nice tonight staff polite and was busy as usual .Please look up how to serve a Pimms because a shot of Pimms , topped up with lemonade with a sice of lemon is not what I expected for £5.50 .

We found the food to be flavorful and freshly-prepared-- I personally enjoyed the sizzling five spice beef. The staff provides an excellent service. They made sure to come around to check on our experience often, and were warm and thoughtful. The food is exquisite and reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is brilliant. Highly recommended!

Absolutely excellent! The food was probably the best I have had in a Chinese restaurant. Service was friendly & efficient without ever feeling rushed. The waiting staff were particularly helpful to the vegan members of our party & could answer every question asked. All this at a very reasonable cost. Highly recommend.

If you haven't had a "proper" traditional Chinese meal, then you will enjoy the food, the restaurant and the service. For me personally, it was European Chinese food, hence the 3* rating.
