Baan Thitiya in East Hertfordshire

The shared starter @ £18.50 was disappointing in that it looked like it was from Iceland! The sticky rice was in a plastic bag so had to try and open the bag without getting scolded. The food was ok but overpriced for what it is. It was soo hot in the restaurant, it was stifling -there was no aircon or air circulation. Service was good and staff smiley and friendly

First time visit and the service is the best in the area by far The monkfish red curry was beautiful and the starters very tasty and filling & the Big fat juicy dim sum was full of flavour Absolutely will be returning again and again

I hadn't been here for many years, my mistake! I was taken out for my Birthday and as I live close by suggested Thai. We had 3 terrific courses and a bottle of wine and it was under £100, so I think good value for the quality of the food and the setting. We'll definitely be coming back!

Popped in for a quick meal before going to a show at South Mills the other night and it was great. Quick, polite and friendly service with very nice food and drink. Not in the bargain basement, but perfectly resonable. We'll be back shortly

We arrived unexpectedly at this restaurant at a late hour, without reservation, they welcomed us kindly. We were served very quickly, the meal was excellent, I highly recommend.

Had a great meal here. Plenty of variety and excellent presentation. My only gripe is with the cost. Came to in excess of £150 with no food wasted, minimal drinks and no alcohol. I know there are cheaper around with equal quality but I would eat here again for sure.

Food is good but massively let down by the service. Service has significantly gone down hill with food orders being wrong, coming at different times and long wait times. The staff also speak in their own language in front of customers, which is extremely unprofessional. Service needs significant improvement. In response to the owners comments about speaking in Thai: I didn’t want to go into the detail but will now. Of course it’s fine to be speaking in their native language to each other generally in the restaurent. I have no problem with this. In my example, I said I was unhappy with something to a staff member. A manager was then called over to discuss and the waitress and manager discussed the matter in front of me in Thai. Obviously, I had no idea what was being said and it felt as though they were disagreeing about something and this clearly makes you feel like they are talking about you. This is what I meant by unprofessional.

My daughter in law has just come home having been extremely sick at this restaurant. She has a severe egg allergy and told the staff when she ordered her food. Sadly the Mai Tai cocktail they served her from a carton contained egg and after one sip she reacted. Please be aware if you have an allergy !!!!

We arrived at the restaurant on time. Was offered a table in a walk way. We changed to a corner table were we received our drinks. I can not review the food as our order was never taken. We waited for over 30 min, and still was not served. Others arrived and during this time their order was taken and they received their starters. A very disappointing experience

I love the food here and I mean love , but the service is awful , bring dishes out when it’s all ready please not when 1 dish is ready and rest isn’t , had to wait 10 minutes for rice after mains came out .. please .. I won’t be a service charge because of this .. it’s a shame because food is great

Amazing authentic Thai food, Tom kha was delicious and so the traditional ice cream which left me speechless. Service was great and honest price too.

Gave 2 hours notice for delivery, ended up waiting over 4 hours in total before the completely wrong order turned up, none of which I could eat. The restaurant eventually said they would send another delivery out but then called back half an hour later to say they can’t. New Years Eve ruined, thank you very much for that!

We had our first visit here for my birthday, despite passing by for many years saying we should go here for a meal.... Well I'm glad to say we finally got around to it and will definitely return soon. The food was great, tasty, authentic and portion sizes were good, service was also very good.

First impressions were lovely. Very friendly staff, beautiful restaurant and excellent food. Chef is very good. The price of the lunch menu was more than most other Thai lunch menu’s but the food was good. The main let down of this place is I was charged almost £3 for the smallest glass of coke I’ve ever had. A real let down. Turned this from a nice lunch spot to far too expensive for me to return. I understand adding service charge but then at the card machine asked for more service charge. A very expensive small plate of food and I will not be returning. I have to reiterate that the food was delicious and the staff extremely friendly.

Visited Baan Thitiya Thai Restaurant on a Monday night. Glad to see the free car park lit up, ready for winter nights. Received a warm welcome, from professional Staff. Had sharing starter which was lovely. Mains was Pineapple chicken / prawn rice and ribs from the starter selection, both was great. Had Rose wine by the glass little on the experience side for me, at over £28 a bottle, compare with the qulity food prices. You have to control the speed of the evening or you will be in and out in no time. Overall a very nice experience, would recommend a visit.

Outside of Thailand this must be the best Thai cuisine that I have tasted. Not only the taste but the service and atmosphere as soon as you arrive. Thai greetings by genuine Thais. However, the main thing, the food. A wonderful, extensive menu at reasonable prices. Even drinks are reasonable for a restaurant. Prices that more resemble than a pub. Who is to complain? Service by very friendly staff, friendly but totally professional. A wonderful evening with a friend of my partner. We will be back. Only down, and not the fault of the restaurant, was an extremely noisy table of eight. Nobody could have a conversation until they left. There was a noticeable sigh from many tables at that point. Anyway, ladies may I say ‘ขอบคุณครับ – kɔ̀ɔp-kun-kráp’ (thank you) from the three of us.

So disappointed! We order from here regularly and love the food but had a really special evening planned with our family who we haven’t seen in a long time. We ordered a large amount of food and 4 items were missing from the order which equated to 2 peoples meals and a starter. We ordered from Deliveroo but called the restaurant to see if they were able to rectify it or find out where the food had gone. Sadly we were told the only option was a refund of the missing items. We were not happy with this as our long awaited family meal was then ruined as 2 of our guests could not eat! We really expected more than just our money back for the missing items as we feel we should have had some compensation for this. The problem went from bad to worse when the phone got put on the side with us waiting on the other end because we were told they were too busy to deal with our problem as they were dealing with customers in the restaurant. We waited on the line for around 30 minutes and called on a different line to prompt them to deal with our issue as we would have liked to got more food sent to us for our guests. Instead the lady on the phone repeated what she had already said and hung up on us. The food by this point was all stone cold. We called the next day and spoke between the restaurant and Deliveroo and it was decided we could get a full refund and we had been reliably told this by the lady at Baan Thitiya. We awaited this but received a refund from Deliveroo for less than the missing items!!! We called the restaurant back and asked what was going on to be told that the manager had said we can only get a refund for the missing items however we have not even received that! Considering the amount of other Thai restaurants and takeaways popping up in the town I’m surprised they would treat regular customers in this way, horrendous customer service on this occasion. They did not have any way to deal with the issue and didn’t actually even try to help solve the problem. Evening ruined sadly. Edit to reply: Thanks for replying, the main problem here is how we were treated by the restaurant. We were told they were too busy to deal with us and then ignored and had to spend a great deal of our time to get our money back. Customer service was appalling. Such a shame as the food has always been great but out of principle we have now gone elsewhere.

This restaurant never disapoints. Set just five minutes outside the centre of town with its own car park. The standards of maintenance are high and the interior design very pleasing to the eye. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the service remained attentive throughout our two hour visit. The menu is varied but not overwhelming and presentation of food is high. All our dishes were served hot and tasted excellent.

The downsides of this restaurant were an empty atmosphere upon arrival, overpriced drinks (over £4 for a Singha beer which came as a small 330ml bottle), ants crawling around on the table and background music that seemed to be taken straight out of a 2006 Wii loading page- much to our humour actually. However, when our starters arrived the atmosphere of the restaurant increased dramatically and by this point the initial downsides did not matter in the slightest as the food that came to our table was presented in impeccable style and tasted divine. The restaurants food lived up to its strong reputation and was a delightful difference from the usual greasy Thai takeaway food. The main meals were not overpowered by spice. Nor were they dripping in greasy fat and oils. They were delicate to the taste and cooked to absolute perfection. I would highly recommend the duck dishes and the dim sum for a starter. Overall, a very pleasant experience and would recommend

Called in for the lunch time specials, started with the classic Selection of eight different items and followed by a Gaeng Mussaman Gai curry and a Gaeng Karee Gai curry, both very well presented and absolutely delicious and great value at £17.95 each. First class friendly service and ample car park alongside. Definitely will return and highly recommended.

Food was amazing and the staff was kind. It was very authentic and delicious (I have grown up with good authentic Thai cooking from my grandma). Had the spare ribs, dim sum dumplings, duck, and beef salad. Definitely would recommend!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this very good Thai restaurant, and I must say that it exceeded all of my expectations! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that instantly put me at ease (would be 10 if not much noise, but nothing to do with the restaurant). The food was truly outstanding - each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with authentic Thai flavors. I especially enjoyed the Tom Yum soup, which had the perfect balance of spicy and sour flavors. The pad Thai was also exceptional, with tender noodles and fresh vegetables. But what really set this restaurant apart was the staff and service. From the friendly hostess who greeted me at the door to the attentive waitstaff who took care of my every need, everyone was incredibly kind and professional. They made me feel right at home and were always there to offer recommendations or answer any questions I had. In short, I highly recommend this very good Thai restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious meal and top-notch service. You won't be disappointed!

We visited to celebrate a special anniversary. It was as though they wanted us out as soon as possible, they removed the plate of starters as my husband was putting his last fork full into his mouth. The wine was dribbled on the table. Our main course was thrown down rather than put down and when we asked for the bill, the waitress brought the bill and stuck the card machine under my nose immediately without allowing me time to peruse the bill. Also, they overcharged us. Food was nice but service was shabby. We won't go back.

Ordered a takeaway and food was so disappointing. Bland, inedible rice and stone cold dishes. Thai Green curry was bland , beef in paneang was tough and seafood soup consisted of one muscle two prawns and 6 mushrooms?? Spent over £100 pounds to enjoy on a Friday night which was totally spoilt after feeling so let down. Won’t use again !!!!! Customer service was absolutely useless also when complained.

I have used this restaurant over the past few years, I took my wife there last night (Valentines Day) for a 8pm booking. We receiver our main meal at 9pm and at 9:30 tried to order a dessert only to be told the kitchen had closed at 9pm and any prepared dish would not be available. There were three other couples around us who complained vocally when they received the same message from the waitress. The food was as usual, excellent! But I would question the decision to close the kitchen this early, especially on a special day when the effort could have been made. Even at the weekend the kitchen closes at 9:30.

Wanted to get out of London ahead of a lengthy journey home north up the M11 and we were looking for somewhere not too far off the motorway. Arrived just after 8pm on a busy Friday night but the very friendly and helpful staff found us a table and we were so impressed with both the food and the service! It was a delight to dine there and we were out and on our way home for 9.15pm Many thanks to all involved.

Spent nearly £20 on a very small tupper-wear size portion , which was extremely disappointing. The prices have gone up quite a bit and seemingly portion-size reduced. Won't be returning anytime soon.

This was a family celebration for a birthday. We had Golden Treasure starters and Set Menus A and C. It was all well presented and delicious. Service was spot on and not rushed. A complimentary ice cream for the birthday guest was a lovely surprise and much appreciated. Thai food at its best.

It was our first time at Baan Thitiya yesterday for a date lunch and we were not disappointed. We received a lovely friendly welcome, we sat outside in the beer garden to begin with and had a drink. It’s a nice old building and has a relaxing warm feeling inside the restaurant. The food was amazing, so tasty! The original and best Thai restaurant in Bishop's Stortford, serving great authentic Thai food, with loads of vegan options. They have a wonderful menu with starters, sides, main dishes, salads, soups, sharing platters and more, all clearly labelled. As well as the classic Thai curries, this restaurant offers a wide variety of traditional dishes that you wouldn't find at a chain. These are definitely worth a try. Staff are generally friendly and helpful, with great service if you decide to eat in. Takeaway is also available for pickup or delivery. I've been going here since I was little and have always had a good experience!

I have been here before but for my husband it was the first time. We had the set dinner for two. The black pepper lamb was delicious! A little spicy from the pepper with tender lamb. The duck in Tamrind sauce was sweet and succulent. The green Thai curry is always good as is the Jasmine rice. We opted to have dessert and weren't disappointed! The desserts were the perfect way to end the meal. Will be back again soon xx
