Peking in Norwich

Had a meal last night. Not impressed. Won't be going back.

Arrived really quickly, pleasant driver, food absolutely lovely and very hot. Other Chinese restaurants food is extremely sweet, too sweet for us but peking is just right.

Not to bad Singapore vermicelli noodles r good chips over done hard n crispy could only eat a few soft ones rest in the bin chef needs to learn to not over cook food to a crisp 😏

I always go to peking! And I'm finally writing a review because I won't go anywhere else and tonight I ordered only 16 minutes ago and arrived in 10 minutes! Brilliant service and the food is so yummy! Brilliant for a quick dinner for me who is a busy mummy who works and on feet non stop all day! A treat for me not to cook and still have a delicious meal! Thank-you! 😀

Phoned at 5.45 phoned 3 times to see where food was got at 7.30 was warm but not hot

Absolutely shocking, £40 for the smallest portions of food with no flavour and food full with peppers when I’ve never had peppers in salt and pepper chicken or crispy shredded beef… worst Chinese in Norwich by far.

Used to be the best but the last few times I have been here the food is not as good as it used to be. Been back since and it seems it has improved a bit.

Was not nice chicken was tasteless and orded been shoots got onions and chestnuts gravy like water

Ordered from here tonight food has always been good but I think it’s had a change of ownership at some point the food tonight was warm at best and completely tasteless it just didn’t taste how it should of done, I ordered chips they were really hard and some were even cold safe to say I won’t be ordering from here again now it’s a shame as I used to love the food from here.

Ordered for collection. Food was ready by the time we arrived, staff were friendly and food was amazing. Defo recommend.

Ordered from here for years & food has always been hot & tasty, until last 2 orders, have had 2 reheat food, chicken balls soggy & dry & all tasted bland, looking at reviews suggests recent change in owner ship, will not use again!! "Real shame"

Gone down hill since new owners

Not what it used to be. Prices have gone up, whilst quality has gone down.

Everything was cold, rice, curry, chicken balls, chips. Rice was greasy! Chips was a mixture off soggy and rock hard. Very disappointed

Would be better if they didn’t keep getting the orders wrong.

I have used this Chinese for the last 30 years and upto the last 12 months its been great, last night I had the worst take away I have ever had. Special fried rice was so greasy the rice was like chewing gum, had to pick out lumps of gristley fat making it unedible after 2 forks full. Curry sauce was basically curry flavored brown water, chicken balls while cooked on the inside the batter was like soggy bread. Chips were strangely over done and under done at the same time, smaller ones were so over cooked it was like eating plastic, the bigger ones not cooked enough. Prawn toast while edible was not the best. Never going here again at least not until the owners change again.

Ordered food 6:30 phoned and was expecting delivery at 7pm. Was told a system crash was the issue, was told food would be about another 30 min. Roll onto 8pm no food had arrived. Phoned yet again and was told a couple of cans of coke and prawn crackers would be added for free. Food eventually came at 8:45 pm. No cans or prawn crackers present and also items missing out of our initial order. Staff grunting and sighing down the phone making me as a customer feel bad for just wanting my good that I have paid for online. So overall a 30min order turned into a 2hr wait with multiple excuses and an incorrect order. Shocking would never use again. However if you love long waits, and customer service that’s just abysmal then feel free to order from here.

I have used Peking since it opened back in the 1980's. From then until the business was sold, I was perfectly happy with all aspects, from a customer viewpoint and would have given maximum points without hesitation. It has, however, slipped considerably since the new owners have taken control. For many years, we used to order regularly but in the last year or so, every time we ring up to place an order, the prices keep going up. I believe the prices have increased either twice or three times this year alone. Now whilst I understand that costs have to be met, the perpetual price increase to the customer will, I'm sorry to say, eventually lead to a reduction in customer numbers (who will go elsewhere) and slowly kill the business. A reduced portion size, in conjunction with increased prices doesn't help. Such a shame, but of their own making. Won't be using again!!

Have visited several times now and found the food consistently good, food prepared quickly and no problems to date. Only slight downside is you need to remember to have cash on you as cash only.

Lovely staff, was really hoping to leave a positive review. I ordered chips and sweet & sour sauce. The sauce was nice but the chips weren't cooked properly. Some of the really small ones were edible but the larger ones were raw and hard still in the middle. Very dissapointed as this was all I ordered.

I ordered the roast pork Cantonese style (top left in photo), happy family (bottom left) and mixed vegetables (right). Everything was just full of bean sprouts to bulk it out and the same flavourless gravy type liquid. Won't be ordering from here again.

Food is delicious and good service, but does seem quite pricey compared to the other takeaways I've tried over the years.

The food is nice and the price is about right. However on my last two orders I have been short changed intentionally, as the delivery driver never has enough change on him. While I wasn't short changed too much, it is still pretty disrespectful to basically take extra money without me being aware that's going to happen.

Nice Curries, reasonably priced

Went here as our favourite Chinese that's round the corner is closed on a Sunday and Monday now. This food dispite being ordered on-site and driven straight home lacked crisp texture, you couldn't taste the flavour of each dish as it was so salty due to the levels of MSG used and the veg within the dish didn't look its best. I would describe the food here as not being fresh, sweaty and salty.

Best Chinese takeaway in Norwich! They are cash only and not on delivery apps which is a shame, but there’s a cash point in the shop next door if you need to get cash out. They do delivery’s locally & the driver (& counter staff) are friendly. Would 100% recommend Peking!

Great service, they have taken very good covid safe measures to make takeaway very safe. Highly recommend!

Excellent Covid precautions (strictly limited people in the waiting area, fully enclosed counter with intercom), great food and fantastic food hygiene rating! Would definitely recommend.

Really quick call and collect, lots of fortune cookies to entertain us and the food was spot on and thoroughly enjoyed.

When making a call to place an order, I was hung up on mid-sentence and told not to call again.

I visited Norwich with my family and tried this Chinese takeaway ，The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. I hope I can have it again when I come to Norwich next time！

this old chinese take away does the best egg fried rice in town. you need a take away? look no further - peking is the answer. certainly gets 5 stars from chunk.

Omg was really looking forward to my treat and got home and the chips were so bad seemed like they had been put back in the fryer from the day before chicken balls more like dough balls i wouldnt even feed it the the homeless oh and maybe change the oil in your fryers

One of two local Chinese takeaways I use. Always busy (which is a good sign!) and always fast to produce your order. The most important thing the food is always well cooked and very flavoursome! They are a shade more expensive than the Takaway closest to my but the difference is trivial and the food is also a shade better here so I'll go to either depending on which way I am travelling home when I fancy the food. Defintily give it a try, I belive they are on the various delivery aps as well.

Lovely meal and excellent quick service

Quite a handsome food portion and the taste was quite alright too. Didn't wait for too long for my "sweet sour pork Hong Kong style" to get ready. The lady who took the order was very friendly. However, the price is a bit more expensive then other Chinese takeaways that I went to. Give it a try and see if you think the price is justifiable.

Expensive and not nice service. Additionally when I opened the door straight they asked me how can I help (nice) but 1 minute late again same question. That's respectless. Everyone always know what want to eat? Let us think a little bit. No rush

Have used this chinese for YEARS. just had the worst experience ever. Ordered for collection and was in the shop when they gave my order to the delivery guy, sat there for 45 minutes! Being ignored, Only to be told it was on delivery when i asked and basically tough. Went home to find they had tried to deliver cold food. They then rang to say it would be re done but not for another hour. Apauling service, barely even an apology. Will not be using again. So disgusted at the service.

Place Order. 35minuets they call back to explain they can not delivery to my area without apology or any other options

Had a chicken curry from here bought buy sister in law, decent portion size and generous amount of chicken in the curry. Taste of food was really nice and this is definitely being added to my list of favourite take aways.

Huge menu to choose from, great price :)

Food arrived fairly hot, but very very dry. They also forgot the drinks we ordered and sent some out, but arrived hours after we had already eaten the food. Water was a nice substitute to quench the thirst made by how dry the food was though. Don't think I'll be ordering from here again.

Been my go to takeaway for over 10yrs. Great food, quick service. Can't go wrong ordering from here.

We use this takeaway 90% of the time if we fancy a Chinese, don't know if it's cause we use them a lot but they know our address when we call up. Deliveries are within the 40 mins they say during the week and a little over that at busy times. Not had one thing that's been undercooked. Food is good and tasteful plus the set menu's aren't rigid you can change 2 items for free. Only downside is that you don't get free prawn crackers unless you spend over a certain amount but on the whole very very good.

Spoilt for choice when it comes to Chinese takeaway in this area but Peking is my favourite, good portions, friendly staff and very punctual

Great food. Nice and hot. Can phone order ahead. Food usually ready to collect very quickly (often 10-15 mins). Delivery during early evening took around 45-60 mins the few times I've had it delivered. Prices are quite competitive. Prefer this to all the other local Chinese takeaways I've tried. They only accept cash (no credit/debit cards).

Just ordered from Peking Chinese for the first time and the food was lovely, it was hot, good portion sizes, and tasted good, ordered from a lot of chineses and this was up there as one of the best, If you're thinking of ordering a chinese you won't go wrong ordering one from here.
