I haven't eaten in the restaurant but upstairs they have Lucky Gin, a super fun bar with delicious cocktails (and great value), gorgeous design features and fab, friendly staff - and a DJ on Fridays & Saturdays. There's a private space behind the bar which I reserved for 20 friends for my birthday and we all had a blast, it was the best venue - thanks so much to Ryan and all the team x

We had the feast menu which didn't disappoint a great selection of really tasty food! Pot stickers, whole sea bream and slow braised short rib to name but a few dishes were exceptional. There was a great atmosphere and the staff were very attentive but not over fussy. Oh the wine and drinks choices were good too. A fab night all round. Thank you Pedlar Good Fortune

Visited as a group of 4 on News Years Eve - friendly, professional staff. First class food. Ideal. Lamb chops were excellent and turbot very tasty. Good value at £118 for bread & nibbles, 4 mains, 4 desserts and a bottle of red. There were children present, but I would not say this is a family restaurant - maybe there is a different vibe in the daytime.

Visited today. When booking the table told them in advance there would be two vegan meals. Was told that wouldn’t be a problem. However the only vegetarian Sunday roast option was a pumpkin wellington. The vegan option was pumpkin without pastry so, yes, the vegan option was two chunks of rather tasteless pumpkin with roast potatoes and vegetables, which were at best warm not hot. So the vegan meal was roast potatoes and veg. There was no main. Very poor. As there was no main on offer we should have been told on booking. Also to add to this service was incredibly slow. Would definitely not go back.

I went here a few weeks ago for brunch. The atmosphere felt nice which was a plus, and a young crowd. Service was quite slow, just a coffee took a while, with the coffee itself being disappointing. I had asked for almond milk but it was served with soy. I'm sure it's nice coffee, just a little mistake with the milk. The food however seemed a little bland considering there was obviously a lot of elements to it. The whole experience would have been so much more forgivable and enjoyable if we weren't asked to leave for the next customers before I had even finished my coffee, and less than 45 minutes after we had even sat down! I felt very disappointed then that there was seemingly quite little disregard for current customers. Will definitely give another try, as this place does seem lovely.

Not really sure where to start...to be honest. The first time we went we were nicely surprised at the quality and price of the food. Second time... not so much. We ordered the scallops for £11 and received 1 each on a bed of sad soggy spinach. At least the sea shells they were served on might be useful for my Hawaiian party next week (hoola hoola). Upon gently suggesting to the waitress that we felt the portions were very underwhelming we were served our next course of pork belly, (apparently also know as lard on a plate) and a huge portion of what can only be described as Tesco quality coleslaw, by a very passive aggressive and clearly butt hurt chef. It was pretty obvious he was trying to intimidate us into complaining to him directly and warning us off saying anything. He ran us through the ingredients of the pork lard which as you can tell we weren’t too impressed by the quality or flavour of the meat. His attitude was rather spicy though.

My partner and I were browsing around and looking for a suitable place to have lunch in Peckham. We have eaten at Pedler on a few occasions and, whilst not exceptional, we have enjoyed dining there and would think of it as a good place to eat regardless of the hour. However, our last experience there was both bizarre and unpleasant. On our arrival we were greeted by a member of staff in a manner which was rude and beffudling. This member of staff then began to loudly remark on the behaviour of fellow diners in a way which felt both awkward and unprofessional. My partner and I left as we couldn't stomach the second-hand embarrassment. Astoundingly poor service for a restaurant which has always had such a good reputation.

The staff here are lovely but unfortunately the food and drinks are so disappointing. I had an aubergine dish which was undercooked and poorly flavoured. My friend had the vegan version but the only thing that made it vegan was removing the yoghurt element which was a large part of the dish. So it was poorly cooked aubergine on its own and for the same price! One person in our group was sitting without a drink for a long time and had to chase it twice. The drinks themselves were confusing and no one was quite sure if their order was correct because the flavours were off. This place looks lovely and promises so much but unfortunately the food and drink left me flat.

Pedler is usually a lovely restaurant, among my favourites in South London. Sadly, last night I was let down. It was Valentine's Day and while I appreciate it was an extremely busy night, we were served mashed potato instead of white chocolate mousse for dessert (we only realised this once we tried it). To be fair to the manager, she tried it and then sent for a new plate. When we asked for it to be taken off the bill, we were refused - this felt unfair, we were spending over £100 and only expected a token gesture to compensate for the pretty grim experience of biting into potato thinking it was mousse. But I would be writing a better review had my boyfriend not also been up half the night with food poisoning. This seemed to be from a giant prawn that came with the fish pie - we deduced this from the fact that the prawn was the only thing I didn't eat, and I was fine. It's a shame and we will be letting the restaurant know. Generally the food is delicious but a manky prawn and the mashed potato indicates that the kitchen is having problems. Hopefully these get sorted soon.

Realmente decepcionante.

The pancakes are ridiculously delicious but only get them if you enjoy desert for breakfast. I also tried the chicken and grits and although it wasn’t bad, make no mistake it wasn’t grits but polenta. Having lived for sometime in southern US this was unfortunately disappointing as I was hoping to be reunited with a more traditional version. I should’ve known better. If you’ve never had a proper fried chicken and grits breakfast, you won’t know the difference and will likely be happy with the choice. Service was great and I’ll be back to try some of their other options.

I have just had a very disappointing Brunch at Pedler. I ordered the Smashed Avo with poached Eggs. My food turned up on a small side plate with soggy bread, some mashed up Avocado with no flavour (chilli and parsley was expected) and no Eggs. I advised that Eggs were missing and they eventually turned up cold and overdone. I asked why the dish wasn’t as advertised to be told ‘thats how it comes’. Not worth the £8.50 it was priced at and not even asked ‘how are food was’ to have opportunity to give feedback.

We ate at the Pedler for a friend's birthday. The good bits - We were given a lovely big cave style table which was perfect for us, the waiting staff were all very friendly and helpful and had a good sense of humour, I called the restaurant in advance on behalf of a friend who is overseas to arrange a bottle of prosecco which was waiting for us on ice on our arrival (thank you!), the marmite butter. The bad bits - the food was extremely disappointing. It was actually difficult to differentiate between dishes because everything was SO salty (particularly the cod - I have never known chefs to put salt on the flesh of an already salty fish - it was inedible). That said, when we mentioned it to the waiting staff, they were incredibly polite and put things right. This restaurant has a lot of potential (great location, ambience, staff and creative food ideas) but the food is just not up to scratch (or at least it wasn't on the night we visited!).

Was visiting my Son in London to see my first grandson, and as him and his partner were so tired with caring for their first baby, I decided to go down the road to have breakfast. At 9:30 in the morning the place was packed! Even the outside seating was full. But. the young female smiling friendly staff had me waiting just a few minutes before getting me a single seat with two others on the same table. it was buzzing with lots of young person and was obviously very popular. My full breakfast - minus pigs blood sausage -was delivered in another few minutes by another smiling friendly young lady. The meal was excellent with what I call the original extra creative touch. I thanked the person on taking my bill payment and said, how much I enjoyed the meal and attentive service. Then I said, tongue in cheek, That it would be lovely if they could play lullaby music instead of base and drum rock music! Everyone there were not speaking to one another, they were shouting at one another! It was the only problem with the place. But hey, who am I to find it too noisy? An old geezer who likes to eat without being surrounded by everyone shouting to be heard by each other. And when I return from Ireland back to London in the future to see my grandchild, I will pay them another visit, and they may be playing Brahms, and full of old folks like me, ( I don't think?)

I have been 3 times to Peddler and live locally. My first time was a birthday dinner for a friend 3 years go.There were 10 of us in the booth at the rear.Suffice to say that I spent a lot of money on alcohol as the food, whilst OK, came in microscopic portion sizes.I was left to plate surf as what I had ordered wouldn't have amounted to a starter anywhere else. The staff were pleasant enough, the manager/owner I thought abrupt and rude.I left with mixed feelings having spent £60 on wine.My second visit was a pre Christmas dinner with friends, again in the booth. We were quite a large party and they sat us at opposing ends of the restaurant which wasn't great. We asked if we could be moved closer to our friends, as there were nearby tables empty, and were told no.It was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had, and my parents had restaurants, several, so I know a little bit about dining out.I swore I wouldn't go back.Time No3 was just recently a small group of us for dinner. My friend loved Pedler so reluctantly I agreed to go.My impression of the place is that it's gone downhill since my previous visit. The food wasn't great, our waitress was stroppy and unhelpful, the minute she realised that we were done with our meal, she was nowhere to be seen.We left without giving her a tip.I won't go back there again. It's had its day.The customer service is appalling. It's just too expensive for what it is.I feel sorry for them as I can see poor customer service becoming an issue which will shut them down. They were wildly successful from the get go and it's not done them any favours.Added to which poorly presented food on teacup saucers is no longer a novelty.A real shame as I wanted to like it but I can't.And with so many new places opening up locally, doing it better, they've got to up their game.

Really gutted to have to write this review as we so wanted to be happy after our meal but honestly, we left feeling underwhelmed and ripped off. Three of us visited one evening and we were seated promptly which was great as we hadn't made a reservation. The place is quite small so perhaps we got lucky. The lady who appears to be in charge there was delightful, really lovely to talk to, very friendly and knew the menu well. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the rest of the staff. The young lady that served us was very pushy, constantly asking if we were ready even though we'd just sat down and would have had no time to read the menu. When she came over to explain the menu to be tapas like, we placed our order thinking 'well we'll try that for now and order more if we're still feeling fanciful' and she looked at us like cheapskates for ordering what I presume is a small amount in her eyes. As it turns out, the first few dishes we ordered were absolutely ridiculous so no wonder she frowned. A single £5 scallop served in what can only be described as a dish not much larger than a thimble, was a bit of a joke. The two BBQ sausages with a blob of mustard on the side were nothing noteworthy and the chickpeas were just nasty. You know the hard kernels you get in a tub of popcorn? Yeah, they were that. Needless to say we did order more food in hopes of being full but again, more disappointment. The beef was off of the menu and replaced by dry pork, the chicken dish was probably the best but as others have said the grits weren't great and the soggy spinach did nothing for us. We soldiered on to dessert to round the meal off and honestly this was the biggest surprise, a banana split without a single scoop of ice cream! Instead the banana was piled high with whipped cream, some slices of pineapple, a bit of custard and some fresh cherries (the best bit). I probably sound like some really fussy diner, but that couldn't be further from the truth. This place was highly recommended to us and all this said, I've never let a review stop me from going somewhere, but I feel I have to point out the obvious. The restaurant is 'cool' and very 'current' and the prices match that, but the food is average at best. I dined with two locals and they described this as a perfect example of bad gentrification; being expected to pay more, receive less and be happy about it. Really disappointed.

I have been going to this place practically since it opened and have never been disappointed. It's a very laid back restaurant that changes its menu regularly. Please don't go if you want a formal sit down menu where everything comes out perfect at the same time. It's a lively restaurant with staff that you can tell really enjoy their job and are passionate about what they do. The food is amazeballs, lots of plates to share with a a great wine menu to boot.

I went here with 8 uni friends for a catch up brunch. They sat us in a big booth with lots of room. Food and service was fab! The cafe has a lovely vibe and great decor. I had been travelling and left a travel book there by accident, however when I rang up the team offered to post it to me as I live in Leeds! Now that is going over and above for customers!

If you like loud music with your lunch then fine, if you don't then well....it's just hard luck!!One member of staff was particularly rude (unintentionally I'm sure) as she couldn't understand my polite request to turn the music down, her response was extremely defensive .It remained so loud that we couldn't chat freely. Mind bogglingly she rearranged the table while we were eating, and later cleared my friends plate over my left shoulder whilst I was still eating. So, when asked "was everything alright with your meal?" I was honest, I didn't have the heart to tell her everything...she wouldn't have been able to handle it....paying for a bad experience is obviously annoying. We will never step foot in this faux trendy London cafe again.

Are here this eve with friends. Cool space, good menu though sad to see the famous lasagna bites I had been waiting for weren't on offer at the time. Standout fish was the lamb - perfectly cooked and great flavours. Arancini also really nice. Cauliflower and sausage were pretty standard though and the jerk beef & cornbread was too sweet and too dry. All 3 of us had great cocktails. We were served by Star - very sweet but a little too try-hard and too much chat. Something strange also goes on with the acoustics in this joint so it's really hard to hear what waiters are saying to you. Overall, nice but overrated.

I was treated to lunch at Pedler for Father's Day lunch by my delightful daughter. The food was deliciously fresh and a perfect balance between orthodoxy and 'left of field'. The roast lamb was especially tasty, served on a bed of Jersey Royals and salsa verde. Great wines, craft beers and needless to say, Little Bird Gin! The staff were jolly, cheeky and delightful.

Located on the edge of Peckham Rye, the Pedler has quickly become a favourite of ours since our move to East Dulwich in January.Although we most recently visited the Pedler as a couple, we have have been a number of times with friends and family. We have mainly come here for their excellent brunch, which balances some classics with some interesting and original twists. Make sure you ask about their daily extras in the form of 'In a pickle' and 'Lardy da'.In the evening this turns into a bar and dinner spot. We have enjoyed delicious gin based cocktails and snacks but are yet to have dinner here, however if the food is as good as the brunch, then I can't wait! This also goes for the Sunday roast, so much more to try!

Me and the Mrs visited on a recommendation from a local. We was not disappointed. Pedler breakfast and the veggie breakfast was fantastic, eggs slightly hard but that was soon forgotten as the plate was full of flavour. Cocktails good and staff very friendly.Cost is reasonable for the area and would highly recommend.

My son lives local and raves about Pedler, I now know why! We were squeezed in early doors on a Saturday night and were treated to a range of "plates" including Monkfish, Squid, Fishcakes and some amazing Beets. We were helped by the lovely waitresses to avoid over-ordering (but we did) and they edited down the order as we started to fade. Table beer served in classy glass mugs and a reasonable priced Verdejo accompanied a very satisfying Saturday family dinner out in Peckam Rye.

This is the second time we visited this place. Smallish neighbour eatery/bistro. Buzzy all the time. They do plates to share, which is the in thing now. Interesting choices of starters and large plates of food. So far all that we have tried are all nice and tasty. They have a good selection of cocktails which seemed to be very popular but we did not try. Staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient for a busy eatery. Booking is essential especially near the weekend.Definitely worth a try. Prices are reasonable for that area.

A very nice atmosphere with excellent decor. Food was quite good, but service was a bit slow and all over the place, but very friendly. 6/10.

Booking system is a total failure. Tried booking online and then phoning them with no effect whatsoever! Still, we decided to try our luck! Got a table all right, but I wish we hadn't, as that commenced a truly horrible experience. With really loud and irritating music coming from the speaker just over our heads, it was hardly possible to hear our own thoughts, each other, and even the waitress, who tried her best screaming! My complaining about it straight away resulted in nothing. Do it ruined our evening, and gave my friend a migraine. The noise level appropriate for a club, surely not for a restaurant! Really aggressive marketing manner of the staff , eager to sell, not minding anything else. We were there for an hour, constantly being checked, if we had finished. If we needed another drink, even though our glasses were still half full. The steak and cheese croquettes were tasty, but all the veggie meals we tried were truly tasteless! Not really fair towards my companion! In the end, they pulled half of our table apart without a word! No explanation, apology or asking for permission. A great disappointment, as it came highly recommended by a few friends. Inconsistent quality of both food and service, I guess. No one has asked for any feedback, so it was impossible to share our opinion with anybody! Went round the corner to a much friendlier and quieter pub 'The Flying Pig', where they have really saved our evening.

We went for a Sunday roast and it was incredibly poor. The veg was hardly roasted, almost raw. The meat was so chewy that my vintage fork couldn't take it. Really disappointing as an amateur could see the food wasn't right. It shouldn't have left the kitchen. The manager did give us a free bottle of wine but that doesn't make up for the appalling food.

Firstly, let me start out by saying what my group liked about the restaurant. The atmosphere was buzzy, the tunes were great and I loved the cool kitsch decor. The service was attentive and friendly, and the cocktails were excellent as was the Puglian wine we had with our meal. I'd heard such great things about this restaurant and so left a little disappointed - the food just wasn't up to scratch. The menu sounded really exciting but was just a bit.... bland. The frizzle chicken sounded innovative and interesting, but it was seriously lacking in flavour - I had high hopes for the cheesy grits but it was boring mush. The best dish we tried was the pork. It was well cooked (crispy crackling, tender meat), but again the flavourings were rather dull. Nothing was awful, but it was all pretty average. We had a fun evening but I wouldn't go rushing back.

If you are full and well fed order the avocado on toast with tomatoes and sweet corn. It is tiny! And so is the leek and cream on toast thing... that actually tastes pretty bad and it's chewy! There seems to be a problem with textures, as my friend ordered a bacon peanut butter and banana french toast and it was all the same texture and not tasty! The coffee was good and staff friendly though.

A pleasant surprise in terms of the space available considering the restaurant is small. We chose brunch, as Time Out had named Pedlar as one of London's top brunch spots. Savoury fans, be aware, the signature breakfast is tasty, but not a BIG breakfast. The sweet choices (sadly not my cup of tea) were definitely more substantial. The slightly sweet maple butter on the toast was unusual, but very nice. Service friendly, but you definitely felt the feeling that turning tables is key. To this end, even the booking confirmation reinforced that you have a max of an hour and a half. We will return, but I will be either ordering extra toast, or developing my sweet tooth.

Although "Pedler" isn't located in the fancy part of London it is absolutely worth visiting. Me and my friends had a lovely lunch and enjoyed the relaxing, cool atmosphere at this place. They have a great offer of cocktails and wine and a creative menu. We really appreciate the high quality of food and its seasonal ingredients.

Been here a couple of times now and really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in here. The food is tasty and eclectic and the cocktails and their signature Little Bird gin are great. The staff are always friendly and enthusiastic and help create the buzzing yet relaxed atmosphere. Grapefruit in your G&T is the way forward! :-)

Family and friends are all huge fans of Pedler. Thay have a refreshing new menu every time we go back (the Alpine menu over January was phenomenal). There is always something new and interesting to try even for a foody; a great range of wines; a lovely quaint but trendy atmosphere; and a pssion for serving up food for sharing! If you like eating tapas style with all the right quality surroundings- Pedler is a great shout.

Great place for casual dining or brunch with friends. Shame they insist on the music being so loud, though it was good music. Even if it was turned down a notch the atmosphere would remain great. Food was lovely, lots of plates for sharing and the staff were fantastic (especially Pru) in helping with my strict medical requirements of no gluten, sugar and diary. Really anticipating my needs so I didn't feel left out. We're going back again this week.

Been meaning to try Pedler since it opened but to be honest didn't really like their menu - tries too hard to be clever. However fancied somewhere different for a celebration lunch and been to all the local places so decided we'd go on a Sunday because they do a Sunday lunch. Service is friendly but amateur, sort of well-intentioned but disorganised 6th form. Starters were a bit dull and the waitress raved about the dessert buns so put 3 aside for us.Lunch for 4 of the group was the roast. It was pretty grim. Everything was over cooked but the roast potatoes were like hand grenades. We couldn't cut them. Ordered replacements from a slightly harassed waitress who seemed surprised they weren't up to scratch. Told her they were the worst we'd ever seen and pointed out to her the other people laughing about them on other tables! Other people ordered replacements and I don't know how they got on but ours were equally horrific. The frazzled chicken was dry and tasteless and then we got the dessert buns. Dry, doughy, tasteless and unsurprisingly overcooked. The plus points - staff were nice, my daughter liked the risotto and the chocolate pudding and lemon pudding were good and cocktails were delicious. Will not return or recommend.

I've been to Manze's Tower Bridge Rd about a dozen times over the years. The pie and mash has always been totally authentic and just perfect. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful. I saw them today taking time to explain to several tourists what the food was all about. The surroundings are also exactly how they should be for a traditional Pie & Mash shop. 10 out of 10 all round! I find my own experiences here totally at odds with the few negative reviews. Either they were really unlucky or had unrealistic expectations of what authentic pie and mash should be.
