My go to place when in Cottingham. Love this cafe. The coffee is the best you'll get. For a light bite the cakes are delicious. Great value for money. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I visited on 2nd December with my baby and my friend. The cafe is quite small and so there are only a few tables. It was quite busy at the time so we sat at the table near the door with the raised chairs. There was a lovely clean high chair for my baby but it meant she was a little bit low down compared to us! The staff realised this and were more than happy for us to move when another table became available with more room in the window. Halfway through our lunch my baby suddenly became very upset (she was teething at the time) and was very tired so I needed to get her in the pram to rock her to sleep. This meant I needed to move away from the table in the window to an area with more room to rock her to sleep. The staff were more than happy for us to move again! We felt really bad for moving so many times but it can be really challenging eating out with a baby sometimes, especially a teething baby, but the staff were so kind and accommodating! Will definitely be back!

We like going to Pearls , like the different sandwiches, great pot of tea & lovely coffee, however on the last few visits, it wasn’t the food that was the problem but the staff. Obviously they’re not to know but we went in last week after receiving some devastating news & the blonde girl was laughing & screeching so loud, we couldn’t hear ourselves speaking. This isn’t the first time it’s happened, I’d say fourth, maybe even fifth but that was definitely the worst. Obviously we’re not party poopers & more than ever do people need a good laugh at the moment but it was really unprofessional. There wasn’t many people in & it was quiet, I just don’t think it was appropriate. We go there because it’s a lovely, laid back & relaxing place but not when people are screeching like that, it was so off putting. Think we’ll give our ears a rest for a while…

One of my favourite places on the planet. Wonderful atmosphere/ambience, food & especially coffee. However, even better than all of this are the staff & owners. It's what the word LOVELY was invented for.

So happy to have moved to Cottingham and this is my new local. I'll be back regularly, it was breakfast and the internet I needed this morning as not quite up and running in the new house. A warm welcome as always. Thanks Gary and Stella.

We just wanted a quick cuppa to refresh us on a warm day but got much more than we bargained for. We happily sat at the single table outside as we had the dog with us and took it in turns to take a look at the counter and board offerings. A lovely lady brought out our tea (with china cups and in a generous pot complete with fab owl tea cosy) and on realizing we had a dog immediately invited us inside saying they were fully dog friendly. We happily sat outside though as it is not too busy here and it felt almost continental. All good intentions dissolved at the sight of the blueberry scones (served with or without real clotted cream) which were amazing - moist fruit encased in light fluffy scrummy scone! The lunch offerings on the boards looked really interesting with some novel options so we will make sure we return for those. Internally there is a choice of tables, sodas and chairs in which to relax with crafts for sale including a range of the novelty tea cosies! All in all, an unexpected find which we are sure to revisit and whole heartedly recommend for welcome, delicious offerings, ambience and being quirky without being new age or twee.

Visited Pearl's Place for the first time on Saturday. Really liked it. Had a tea cake and although small, it was very tasty. Also had the 'Flat Brat' toastie, 'twas beaut! Hot chocolate was lovely. Only negative was that we didn't think the milkshakes were very good. Everything else fab though and we shall definitely be going again.

Though they have no soy milk (yet), the staff were great at making me a veganised version of a veggy sandwich, which is a huge and very filling lunch option. Our large group (which we split over 2 tables as we went in at lunch without a group booking), ordered pots of tea which came with fabulously original tea cosys on which I loved! The local artwork on the walls and shelves full of local, handmade gifts, by the counter, give this place even more charm. Most of which are made by different local makers (mostly part of Judy's Attic). :)

Pearl's Place is a really nice independent coffee shop. It does great cakes and scones and the coffee is sublime. We often pop in with friends and our little son. It has quirky but tasteful decor, comfy chairs and provides quality produce. They don't have a baby change yet, but we asked them about it and this is something they hope to get soon!

I came here a few months back to give this place a try. I was impressed. I was served by a very nice lady who made a great coffee- just right and the cake was large and tasty. Inside was clean and tidy with an unusual assortment of décor (but very tasteful)We sat near the window and watched the world go by. I would say that the price paid was very good value for money

Looks nothing from the outside but inside it's a real gem. Old comfortable high backed chairs with crocheted throws. Friendly staff lovely coffee, cakes and unusual sandwiches. Love the atmosphere really old fashioned, wooden floors little wooden chairs for children very quaint and unusual not like the chains of coffee shops. Lovely community cafe everyone seems to talk to each other. No pressure to leave the table when drinks finished. Has small amount of craft work for sale. Give it a go when in Cottingham for something completely different.

A fantastic coffee shop situated right in the middle of Cottingham, by far and away the best in the village. Really good value for delicious and freshly made coffee, cakes and snacks, such good value my friend assumed she had been undercharged! Also cater for a range of dietary requirements, had some gorgeous gluten free chocolate cake. Plus lovely owners who are attentive but not over bearing. The cafe has a really unique, lovely homely feel, miles away from the manufactured feel of the chain coffee shops and is the ideal place to relax in lovely surroundings. The only coffee shop I visit now when I travel to Cottingham.

This is a lovely café - tucked away in Cottingham Main Street. The prices are vcery reasonable, the setaing is either tables or cottage type sofas and it has a great atmosphere. Most of the produce is home cooked and is very tasty. If looking for those few minutes to sit and relax or enjoy the morning paper with a good cup of coffee and a few slices of toast or a bun - then this is it!

We stumbled across this little gem on a Saturday late afternoon. Fabulous pint of Marmalade Porter followed by a gastronomic extravaganza of small plates…..all amazing! So good we cancelled Sunday lunch plans and are returning today! We have eaten at Michelin starred places on many occasion and this food is right up there but in a relaxed environment and very reasonable. We have found our new fave place for our visits to the east coast and will struggle to go anywhere else now. Would highly recommend 🙏

We were looking for somewhere dog friendly for lunch after our visit to Wandahome in South Cave. The owners were really welcoming and it was nice and cosy inside on a cold day with the fires lit. As it was a Sunday we opted for the Sunday Roast. It was a tough choice though because the menu is fantastic! The drinks menu is equally as good as the food menu too. The food came out in good time and was one of the best roasts I’ve had in a long time! We managed to squeeze in some deserts and can definitely recommend the chocolate brownie and the sticky toffee pudding. Service was excellent and our pup got lots of fuss too. If you’re in the area and are looking for great food and drink in a lovely atmosphere, then this is your place! You won’t be disappointed.
