A beautifully decorated pub set in picturesque maintained gardens. Large level car park suitable for wheelchairs and electric charging points for cars. The snug is comfortable and sizeable with log fire. The food is delicious and prepared superbly, with a fast service. Lovely to sit in the gardens in fine weather. The restaurant is traditionally furnished and comfortable. In all the best a pub has to offer in all areas.

Absolutely love visiting the Pear Inn. My mother takes occasional respite care at a local care home in Melksham. The Pear Tree is perfectly situated and we can’t recommend it highly enough. In fact, I’m writing this review as we enjoy Sunday lunch in the pub for the umpteenth time. It’s our go-to when mum is in Melksham. The pub itself has a gorgeous atmosphere. It’s big but cosy and intimate. Wonderful service, delicious food and always buzzy and cheery. Today my mother had her regular favourite, fish and chips and its was so fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the leg of lamb (one of the Sunday roasts) which was fabulous. Accompanied by a lovely selection of veg and the tastiest roast potatoes ever. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend.

Mixed bag of responses to the categories. Our room was in need of some tender care and maintenance and for that reason only we could not give it 5*. I trust that the management will take on board our comments and bring it up to the standards expected. On the positive side, the breakfasts were excellent, ALL the staff are friendly even when the pressure is on and the bar/restaurant areas are well laid out and comfortable. Excellent large car park but the charging points were out of action during our visit due to impact damage. Large proportion of foreign visitors which is always good and we would stay again.

Overly impressed at every level - Taste, quantity, quality; and then there’s the interior decor and the garden all very good. So it’s hard to say how this place can be improved. However, if I had to say something, it would have been good to get less professionalism from the staff in exchange for a smile or two, and I feel a little sore at being charged £7.50 for 4 slices of bland white bread. But, to repeat, when you add everything together I will be heading there again!

Very nice food, which, even though we were given a warning for a wait for our food, I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't as long as feared and worth the wait. There wasn't anything uniquely different to the meal or experience, but it was a robust meal and would certainly go again to challenge the consistency and whether speed is typically like this or not. For me, if you're having to wait it's either lack of efficiency or because it's popular, and I would certainly ascertain it was the latter due to the experience we had. Look forward to going again, trying more courses and seeing if it can get a 5 star from me in the future. I had the pulled pork burger, and I'd recommend it!

Felt like I am living in with my in-laws. Hotel / restaurant staff didn’t miss any opportunity to pass on sarcastic remark. For instance: 1. Remember to return your keys as we many people ran away with it. 2. We can provide you with cot-bed but sorry we don’t provide any mattress. Further, “I have two kids and I like to cuddle and sleep” I also think that the bed was not king sized as advertised.

We booked 6 rooms at the Pear Tree for our bridal party along with our pre-wedding evening meal for 15 guests this August. We've been going to the Pear Tree for dinner for a number of years and knew they'd be a great venue for our pre-wedding meal. The staff were wonderful as ever and the food was excellent. Rooms were also fantastic and all our guests were hugely complimentary of their 2 night stays.

Lovely building, nice location and pretty garden. The staff were friendly but a few mistakes were made, no condiments were bought out to match the roasts until we asked if they had any (Horseradish, mustard for the beef, mint sauce for lamb and apple sauce for pork). The beef was a bit too fatty in my opinion and others I noticed with the beef left largeish piles of fat, to be fair the crispy pork belly did look good but as I had beef back to the review. Tender enough, not the depth of flavour I was craving for so don't think aged particularly long and you received I believe two slices which seemed a little mean.. In fact the whole roast whilst a suitable portion certainly was on the smaller side and if hungry you'd definitely need a starter and or pudding. Along with the beef there was three small lightly roasted potatoes and a slight odd mix of roast vegetables to share plus the world's smallest strip of Yorkshire Pudding that was hiding under a piece of beef. Also gravy was in very limited supply, especially with those having beef, I think they'd been running out as when we asked for some they came with pork based gravy which explained why those who were eating pork didn't have the same issue. They did later then provide an extremely small cream for jug with a little beef gravy so at least one of our table happy. So overall at £23ish before service charge I definitely have had better, larger portion at similar prices before and whilst a step above a cheap carvery it wasn't a sizeable step. But as mentioned the pork did look nice yet the potatoes and vegetables the same (my sister even had two sizeable dry onion skins in the vegetable mix whereby onions not suitably prepared) Anyway on to a pudding as the whole table still hungry and here they did better, a nice sticky toffee pudding, enjoyable sauce, good vanilla ice cream and a fun chunk of honeycomb toffee was enjoyed, likewise my partner enjoyed her lime and coconut sponge with ice cream and the desserts but inexpensive but fairly priced for the quality. Overall though for one roast, one veg based alternatives, two days and one drink each plus service charge and that was £87 which we consider expensive for what received. At the end of the day, loved the place, the location, friendly staff, large car park, dog friendly but mains didn't wow whatsoever, deserts were decent and the price on the high side. Would be prepared to try a different menu not on a Sunday to see if any better but not one I'd go out of my way for.

Lovely place! We stayed here for the 4th time and had breakfast and dinner every day. Service is very good and staff really friendly. Rooms are lovely, and some are dog friendly, which is why we started coming here. Beautiful well-kept garden surrounding the whole place and many outdoor walks just on the doorstep. Special mention deserves the food in the pub. The 3 of us had different breakfasts and dinners every day for the 4 days we were here, and everything was absolutely delicious 😋, beautifully presented, and with minimal waiting, considering evenings were very busy and almost all tables inside full. My husband loved the Gem beer and said it's of a great quality 👌 Thank you, Pear Tree Inn, for your hospitality and making our stay just as perfect as all the previous ones.

A stunning pub, restaurant and beautiful rooms too. My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic meal and drinks whilst being served by Kerry who was just the best. Kerry not only provided a brilliant service but was super lovely to chat to and even helped sort us a last minute room once we'd had one too many to drink. She's a real credit to the business and a genuinely lovely person. We spent the night in a gorgeous room followed a great breakfast too. 10/10 will definitely be back.

Absolutely beautiful! The cottage gardens are uniquely pretty - I can't think of another place that has such an attractive outside area - think Cotswolds mixed with Province in France with pretty vintage bistro sets under shady vines. The interior doesn't disappoint either. Our room was gorgeous and breakfast was on another level- freshly baked croissants , homemade granola etc..overall this place is special and shouldn't be missed if you are in the area.

If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing and bucolic place to relax in the middle of a getaway in the English countryside, you have come to the right place by choosing the Pier Tree Inn. We booked it last minute when changing our itinerary and we went there after a day in the rain, the welcome was very warm and the room was very comfortable, in an idyllic setting. The garden is a place that evokes beautiful summer evenings, abundant in flowers and trees and we took advantage of it for a drink. We decided to dine there and we had a great time, well done to the chef! Breakfast was everything we needed and the team was top notch! Thank you for these impeccable services, I recommend and I will come back without hesitation. :)

Absolutely phenomenal. Everything about the The Pear Tree Inn is completely above and beyond - from the service, to the accommodation, to the food, the decor, the garden, and honestly just everything. There is no way I could give this team enough kudos. We had just landed in the UK for the very first time and were looking last minute for a cozy, quaint place to stay on the first night of our road trip. The Pear Tree Inn set the bar way too high for the rest of our vacation and beyond. Maybe we’re just overexcited tourists, but we’ve both been to over 30 countries and we were still just so blown away by everything. Not only was our stay in the Moonglow pear outstanding, but from the very first call the service from the whole team was flawless. And the food - WOW. Scallops, amazing, sticky toffee pudding, amazing, breakfast, amazing. I only wish we were spending our entire vacation here. I don’t think any accommodation on any of our future holidays will ever compare. Thank you so much for having us!!

The food here was flat out fantastic. We only had the privilege of having the cut down comedy club menu (the comedy was absolutely stellar). Seldom does one rave about a burger in a pub (inn) but it was handsdown bonafide superb top of the class, excellent. Fears of a thick block of a patty banished, it was plentiful and tender, good slaw and good chips. Surprisingly the potted gammon was unlike the cold heartless tabs of terrine one would usually find at a pub. It. Was. Amazing, like someone had put together delishious pulled ham and served it with toast and piccalilli. Ignore the stupid wordy superfluous review. This place is great, book the next comedy night now!!!!

Having attended this establishment a few years ago, decided to attend for Valentine's Day evening. Quite a let down on previous sitting, service was a little slow to begin with even though the establishment wasn't terribly busy. Starter arrived and was enjoyable, however some considerable time elapsed before the main arrived, I would suggest at least 30 minutes, it was bought to the attention of the assistant who explained it was being prepared. When it arrived it certainly wasn't the best Beef Wellington and the accompanying vegetables were at best overcooked and very bland. Dessert arrived very quickly and was adequate. Deciding enough time had been spent it was time to go, and I was presented with the bill, which was another eyebrow moment due to the amount being requested...A set menu cost normally means you will pay for a certain amount knowing the final cost however to my surprise is had been inflated by some £26. When making the enquiry the m.o.s suggested we had waited too long for the main and apologised for that. The extra charges were not explained apart from it is a service charge for 'Perfect Team Service' unfortunately it was far from that...Will not be rushing back anytime soon....overall experience 3/10.

Sunday roast was pretty much spot on. Good quality meats and portion sizes were decent. We all enjoyed the selection of sharing veggies. Sticky toffee pudding was LARGE but it was suggested that the sponge to sauce ratio was off! (More toffee sauce needed!) Lost a star for not offering up Cauliflower Cheese. I mean come onnnnnn, we need that cheesy goodness on a Sunday. The cheeseboard selection looked great so seems a shame not to get some of this into what is a staple Sunday side in my opinion! Also lost a service star for making us all try and cut meat with flat rounded butter knives. A strange choice of utensil.

Our first visit, food and service very good, the only negative for our lower stars was the owner/manager did not in anyway control a VERY rude and noisy table who were swearing throughout the evening, and we told the management about this and left quickly. I have no doubt this table spoilt it for others too, and sadly, we doubt we would return because it's down to the owner to control their business which we don't think they are capable of doing this.
