Paya in Reading

Disgusting, two of the dishes smelled like used nappies. Made me gag, couldn’t eat it. Never eating from here again.

Been ordering from here for a long time now. This time I ordered the mixed starter had increased by £2 and delivery gone from £1.5 to £2.49. Portions seemed smaller so not sure why they are charging 15% more for a lot less. Although the food was OK I'm not sure I can/want to pay increased prices for a lot less. Better off going to super market and buying it for 1/3 of the price. These places need to be careful. People won't order if they start to get too expensive and get less for it!

I ordered food on line and it arrived in a reasonable amount of time. After my second portion I bit down on a sharp piece of plastic. I tried to resolve the matter with the shop but the manager was rude aggressive snd shouted at me. I understand that times are difficult but do not expect this applauding customer care He put the phone down on me. I will NOT be ordering from them again

We ordered from paya when we was down in reading and we absolutely loved it, it was full of flavours and delivered piping hot. Thanks paya

Having ordered from Paya a few times and really enjoying our food we placed an order in 22nd May through Just Eat. Although the food was later than originally expected this was fine as received a text telling us when my OH started eating their King Prawn pad Thai they found a piece of plastic in their food. I have tried contacting Paya on Facebook, Twitter and via email and have no response which is a great shame as we enjoyed the food but had put us off ordering from here again. Some form of acknowledgement would have made us consider using them again but silence has lost them a customer.

Appalling service. We ordered a week ago for delivery, no problem and food ok. This week we order again and after twenty minutes we get a call to say they don’t deliver to my area (obviously inconsistent) and the order had been rejected. I’m then told my £51:00 will be refunded “tonight or tomorrow”. Today no refund. So i call to be told it will be 2/3 business days and as I protested this wasn’t good enough for an order they rejected they hung up on me. The call was no more than two minutes long. Imagine if this is what they can do in front of you (or down the phone) what’s going on in the kitchen you can’t see. Dreadful customer service from a company that obviously doesn’t give a hoot about the customer. Avoid.

Over the years we have tried all sort of Chinese takeaways in Reading and this is currently the best. Lee's Garden used to be good but then it shut down. Paya have a great service, the place is very clean and the food always tastes authentic and fresh.

Ordered A takeaway but I first checked on a chat line on the website that they delivered to my area. To which they said ‘YES’ continued to order through their website, paid and received confirmation of order. Only to receive a phone call and be told that they actually DONT deliver to this postcode and it will take 3 days to get my money back! Also, from last experience of paying with cash, make sure you have the exact money to give them as they conveniently never bring change. Won’t be ordering from them anymore!

Well I decided to give this a try as I hadn't heard from it before and hadn't been on Just Eat for a few years so this looked new. Placed an order and after 60 minutes got notice via email saying my order was cancelled?? Good job I had the foresight to get cash and not pay by card. They lost the money and my future business.

Ordered Chicken Fried rice and Prawns fried rice! The portion sizes are good! the dishes were on the drier side, but it was warm and nicely done! Can give try to other dishes as when it comes to Chinese - Fried rice is the safe bet and now I can experiment more :)

Had the unfortunate experience to have to eat from this restaurant again, after vowing not to use again, my partner had ordered from them without me knowing. Much to our dismay, the food was well below standard, cold, tasteless and the restaurant were not interested at all. Stay clear

I’d like to take the time to credit thins place. It’s not run of the mill take out....The food is absolutely incredible! We found this hidden gem about a month ago and every time we order we try something new, not once have I been left underwhelmed or disappointed. This is now, by far our favourite take away

I'm shocked at reading the reviews about poor service etc. This is not an experience i have ever had and Paya is my "go to" for chinese/Thai. Fast service Really good food always hot when it comes nil complaints about delivery reasonably priced The tubs are always jam packed with food The peppercorn and salted ribs are my absolute fav.

Was a terrible meal, yes the initial flavours are there but definitely not the spice and kick of pan Asian food. I was really looking forward to the chillis and spices to kick in. To make it worse we had virtually no chicken in the nasi goreng about 4-5 prawns in the pad Thai, and a few slivers of chicken in the Tom yum. Will not be returning and will not recommend! Also I was charged by just eat £1.50, and then an additional £0.50 on the bill and tipped the driver... all round poor! Received the meal in the hour but spent 15 minutes further with the delivery driver on the phone. Definitely room for improvement

The food was 40 minutes late being delivered and the whole crispy duck we ordered was cold and hard. Spent 40 minutes on chat to just eat to be told the restaurant refused to collect the food or offer any refund. I will now charge back with my credit card. An absolute joke of an establishmen

Part of my order was missing. The only communication I received was that the food was on its way. The guy arrived and said by the way part of the order isn't there so you'll get a refund. This is unacceptable as I would rather know in advance so I could amend order, replace item or even order elsewhere to ensure we have enough food. Obviously there is a reason we ordered what we did and to get only some if it after waiting for 5 minutes is simply not good enough. Also no sign of refund so I am going to have to spend time chasing that. So the service would get a zero rating if possible, as would delivery time as it was. Quality of the food I did receive was mediocre and tthe Pad Thai was baiscally plain noodles with chicken, no Thai flavour at all.Never ordering again .

Paya is my first choice for takeaway. The Massaman is as good as I've had from Thai restaurants (though not at the level of the superb Thai Corner offering - but then very little is) and there's a good variety of Chinese and Thai to suit varying tastes. Delivery is always prompt and the food is never cold.

After my favourite Chinese take-away closed last year, I have been looking around for a good alternative. Most have been disappointing, with poorer food quality and small portions.

Have ordered food from here twice now and bad service both times. First time they couldn’t give right change on delivery and said they would drop round later in the evening - it didn’t show up. Had to call into shop to get it back. Was only £1 but it was the principle.

I love the crispy soft shell crab, and as far as I'm aware this is the only takeaway in Reading that does it. The first two times we got a delivery, there was clearly MSG in the food - the 2nd visit was to see if they'd changed their suppliers as they do state on their menu that no MSG is added to their food. This of course doesn't say if their suppliers of coatings and sauces include MSG of course, which we found very misleading.

The freshest and tastiest takeaway we've had in a very long time. Really liked the food. It looks good and looks made with quality ingredients, minimal grease and very colourful. Huge portions. Will definitely order again.

We ordered 4 times at Paya. They were never on time. The food arrived 3times nearly 1,5 h after we placed the order. We didn't even get an apology from the restaurant

Food quailty would have been better if the ordered been correct and without missing items. Having had to call twice to find out where the delivery was, and it finally being delivered over an hour and half later, phoning again to have the order corrected seemed pointless. What did arrive was nice food but we still wouldn't order again.

Ordered chicken Szechuan which ended up as being chicken glug. Not v nice which was a real pity

Never had a problem thus far with orders from this restaurant. Always encountered great service.

The delivery time was pretty quick (40 minutes). However the driver was quite rude and claimed he rang me multiple times (and I checked my mobile and had no missed calls) - he showed me my telephone number and it was correct so I'm not sure what happened there. He didn't really let this go and complained it was rude of me to let him wait in the rain when he only rang the doorbell once and I came immediately - the manner in which he spoke was quite uncomfortable. In regards to the food - we got noodles which I think were overpriced as they were pretty basic. And we got no complimentary prawn crackers. All in all I wouldn't order again - mainly because I was told off on my doorstep for something that wasn't my fault.

This was my third order from Paya and it was just as amazing as the last two orders (P.S. I once ordered twice in one day... Yes the food is that good). You can just tell that there aren't any MSG's or additives in their food as the food doesn't sit on your stomach like most Chinese takeouts. It's fresh and has this homely taste to it. Yes, some may argue that their takeaway menu is on the pricey side, but once you have tasted the quality of their food I'm sure you'll be willing to compromise. Lastly, I must commend the delivery drivers on their great service. They were all very polite, friendly and delivered my food with a smile. What you must try: PRAWN WON TON SOUP! - Foodieontherunn x

Don't normally write reviews but I was really pleased with the service. I ordered food for collection and it was ready in 20 mins as planned; they even called me to let me know. Food was hot and delicious. A bit too sweet as I ordered Thai Green Curry with coconut rice but that's just down to the combo I ordered - the next day it tasted really good. Ribs were nice as well. Will order from them again and hopefully the other items on the menu will taste as good.

Good quality noodle dishes. Kung po beef was huge and spicy. Dim sum was let down - wouldn't order from here again. Delivery a little slow - approx an hour. Big portions.

Excellent as always! Highly recommend the beef with black bean. Food was delivered before the estimated time too.

The Malaysian satay chicken, coconut rice and the starter platter is great. The Schezuan is a little too hot for my liking, overpowered any flavour. But all round great.

Food was good. Hot on arrival and generous portions. But arrived 70 minutes before the time I specified on my order. Luckily I was in but my guest wasn't and we had to reheat the meal when he arrived an hour later. For that reason I wouldn't use again or recommend to others. Timing is important. I specify it for a reason. First time I've had this issue with a take away on this site

Really nice to get a mix of Thai and Chinese at the same place. Dumplings weren't the best I've had but the aromatic duck and various curries we had were delicious. Have since ordered again and everything was fab.

Food was lovely and came within half an hour! Coconut rice a particular fave! Excellent will definitely be reordering.

The food was great, but arrived 2 hours 20 after placing the order (with an estimated delivery time between 45 mins - 60 mins listed on the menu). I may order from there again, but only if I'm in the mood to pick it up myself.

Always so late. Food is good but time after time it takes forever. When you call there is no apology, they are so rude. It is a shame as I do like their good but the service is atrocious. Will look for somewhere else in future.

Overpriced, soft shell crab was soft shell batter.

Delicious and hot. Only part was the sweet and sour sauce is really sweet.

Incredibly over priced compared to the quality, I was expecting a much higher standard of food! It was tasteless clearly microwaved and dry! Disappointed!

All super apart from ordered egg fried rice and ended up with coconut rice. So hungry I ate it but would order again as long as they don't mess the order up.

Ordered sweet and sour souce but it didn't arrive. Instead 2 soy souces came.

My first time ordering from Paya. It was a Wednesday and our food arrived piping hot 40 minutyes after placing the order. The food was excellent. Fresh, tasty and not greasy. I will be ordering from Paya again and can highly recommend everything that we ate (crispy duck, shredded beef and BBQ Pork chow mein).

Very fast delivery. The food quality was great and fresh. The spring rolls were great. They were big and crispy, not like others where you get ten mini ones that are soggy and have no filling. This will be my go to Chinese.

Delicious and extremely fast delivery. The first of many Chinese meals I've ordered through JustEat that I was properly satisfied with. (Braised Fish w/Tofu: Good flavours, not too salty, not too saucy.)

This is a great chinese in the area, the delivery time was adequate but when the food came there was so much of it and all equally delicious so very worth the wait - I am currently enjoying my second dinner of it. Restaurant quality in a tub. Would definitely order from here again.

Food was tasty but took 2 hours to arrive and 2 phone calls to the restaurant to find out where the driver was. One the first call I was dismissed in minutes, thankfully on the second call I was given a discount and assurance the food would be delivered.

The order arrived 20 minutes earlier than expected which is great as we were starving. Reach person was happy with their items and the portions were generous. Would use Paya again.

Not cheap, especially with the delivery fee but the quality of the food and ingredients is notably above the average.

My Won-Ton Soup was very good and the dumplings as well. Not the biggest fan of the sauces but in the main, good. Did not like the fact that I did not get any chopsticks. Chinese / Thai should come with chopsticks.

We are constantly impressed with the food from Paya. Always generous meat portions and not overly greasy food. Would definitely recommend.

Delivery was very fast but the food tasted bland or too salty.

Good food but delivery took 75 minutes as unfriendly driver put the wrong postcode into his sat nav and then wrongly accused us of having provided the wrong postcode. We had provided the right postcode and he even had the correct postcode on his delivery slip but had clearly put the letters wrongly into his device. It's one thing to get the address wrong and take a little longer but it's quite another to wrongly blame the customer.

Steamed fresh dim sum were tasteless glutinous masses with wrong sauce. Chicken pad Thai had no nuts and the sauce was sickly sweet. The delivery was very late. I wouldn't use them again.

The pad thai was quite sugary and the chicken in the curry was partially stone cold. The one in hammersmith is better, but will not order from Brixton branch again.

The food was fresh and delicious, as always. My daughter loves the vegetable chow me, my son discovered king post prawns (huge!), and the egg fried rice is everyone's favourite.

Don't get me wrong but the food was over cooked and dry not testy , so £35. go to the bin. As much as I like Chinese food I did not enjoy my Sunday diner. Very impressed with the delivery time , very fast but still the food quality far from good . Sorry but never again.

The meal tuned up over 45 minutes after we were told it would arrive. The restaurant fobbed us off several times and lied to us telling us the driver had left when he clearly hadn't. They blamed us for the meal being late as we were apparently outside their delivery radius, despite them appearing on our Just Eat list. The food was actually very good. If you want to eat from here, order very early.
