Excellent Sunday lunch. Soup was devine as a as the roast. Too full for desserts. Thoroughly recommend. Little gem in south Liverpool.

We went last Sunday 10th March for Mother's Day. Food was fresh, tasty and wonderful as always. The roast lamb and beef dinners are outstanding. Service was impeccable.....friendly and professional with all food coming out piping hot. We visit here often as it's such a gem.

yet again, another excellent meal at 5 Fifty Bistro. Have been here many times and have never been disappointed. All food cooked fresh by Mike and served by the lovely staff. Well worth visiting this restaurant if in Liverpool

2nd visit here all courses lovely! Pitta bread with homemade houmous and meatballs with chorizo to start. Jerk chicken with rice and lamb mince with feta and pomegranate to follow. Finished meal with sticky toffee pud all washed down with a bottle of malbec! Every course gorgeous! Would really recommend.

This really is the most amazing bistro you honestly couldn't find better. Mike the chef makes the most incredible food, today we had crispy chilli beef with stir fried vegetables and jasmine rice we honestly didn't want it to end the flavours we're sensational. Then we had the roast dinner WOW again fabulous beef, roast and mash potatoes, done to perfection, yorkshire pudding and 4 vegetables with lots of delicious gravy. The desserts are out of this world if you manage to fit one in so much choice. Couldn't recommend this incredible Bistro any more. Kerry the waitress is so lovely, she is attentive and can't do enough to make your time in the Bistro special.

Walked in at 5pm on a Saturday without booking and they gave me a table which was good of them as it's a small restaurant with only about 8 tables. Really friendly staff. Had a peroni and the menus hand written so I just had to clarify things. Basically it's like tapas so I ordered chilli garlic prawns on brushetta and goats cheese tart with sweet onion jam and for main I had their special of surf and turf, 4oz steak,tempura battered prawns and chips with garlic mayo..they were well presented and the prawns had steam coming off then they were that freshly cooked. All tasted amazing. The main main was next and if I'm honest the portion size felt a little small. 4oz steak and 2 prawns and 5 chips BUT they tasted amazing and the special price was £12.95 so I can't complain really. I finished with a mocha and the bill was £38.90 which wasn't bad. Highly recommend this place, I love these small independent restaurants, you can tell they loved it and it showed in their food and service. Also plus point they gave me a menu for Sunday roasts which is a good selling idea. Will definitely come again. The inly minor quibble is location as parking is on a side street but not far to walk at all . If I can walk it anyone can.

This little cafe is the hidden gem of Liverpool. My husband and I both walked out after dinner amazed at the quality of the food. The quality would be expected at a fine dining restaurant. Our waitress was so lovely and attentive. All in all I would rate this place an 11 out of 10 it was that good.

We decided to go with the family to this restaurant for Sunday dinner on 8 December and it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. They do two courses for a set price and it was hard to choose the starter as there was so much choice. The main course was a selection of meats or a vegetarian option or fish. We chose a mixture of starters so that we could try them all and then we all chose 2 meats of lamb and beef. The starters were all lovely and the meats on the main course fell apart on the plate. It came with a variety of veg and mash as well as roasted potatoes.

After reading lots of reviews decided on here for my birthday. After we booked I mentioned to people we were going and everyone had good things to say. Got to say I loved everything about it. The service was friendly, the food was delicious and the price very reasonable. Struggled to choose off the menu because I wanted it all. Opted to share starters of smoked haddock fishcakes and black pudding/chorizo croquettes, both were gorgeous. For main I had steak, as did most of us. Chips were beautiful and the steak perfectly cooked. Didn’t have dessert as my friend had kindly brought a cake. They sang happy birthday and even supplied cream to go with the cake. Had such a lovely birthday dinner. Will definitely return.

We returned to this lovely little bistro whlist staying in the area again and were not disappointed. The name may have changed, but the proprietors haven't, nor has the warm welcome, the cosy interior and the excellent food. We chose to eat there on the evening of our wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend to anyone and will return. Booking probably a good idea.

Best Meal We have had for a long time... came for a family celebration for my sons 18th. In our party we had a family member who is a wheelchair user and has a disability support dog. Chris made the whole experience so easy for us, ensuring she and her dog were seated and at ease.

I met some friends a Sunday who invited me along to dinner with them. I like good food that is well prepared. I have eaten around this city from the various street food markets to taster menus at some of the top listed (and pricier) restaurants.

Visited here with family on Sunday, had a pram with us so they sat us by the window so it was easier with pram which was nice of them, had an amazing roast dinner (vegetarian option) generous portions and nice wine, will visit again!

Well, we’ve never been to this restaurant despite living within walking distance! Thought we’d try it out for Father’s Day, and what a good idea that was. We’re both vegetarians so that’s always slightly worrying....usually veggie lasagne or a lame mushroom risotto zzzzz zzzzz. Anyway, starter was a halloumi skewer, beautifully cooked and very fresh. Main was a lovely nut roast with seasonal vegetables, all cooked really well and very tasty. A bottle of wine or two later we had desert. Sticky toffee pudding for me and lemon tart for my Dad. Both really nice. This restaurant is lovely. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. It’s got a lovely friendly vibe and it’s great value. Service not rushed either. Why haven’t we been before that’s what I’m asking myself!!! Loved it and will be back soon. Thanks x

Been waiting to come here for a long,long time.As it looked like my perfect idea of a bistro.You know, classic mid 80s style:- Hand written menu outside,rustic,random decor,small bar,few tables and good quality,well cooked,honest food.Well,its exactly that.Chef/patron was in Madrid for the football and the incumbent taking control did him proud.I was a National award winning Chef,so I only give transparent views on food experiences and this was very very good.Took me back to a time when unhurried,top drawer service and integrity of the food offerings meant something. Thank you for a beautiful 2 course meal.And at £16.50,magnificent value.

well we returned again here as we can never get a visit earlier on a Sunday as it is always packed so we accepted a later meal, which we thought was very kind of the staff to do for us, i have prawn salmon starter and the wife had the black pudding both gorgeous, i had beef/lamb roast the wife had beef, both meals excellent, ive seen 9 people saying this place is poor and over 350 saying good or better, take my advice i agree with the 350 plus, the 9 who didn't like it i feel you must have had a bad day or night this place is a good place to eat small and cosy and always delivers fine food and drink..sorry you never liked your food but i think this one of the best in Liverpool for sunday lunch without doubt x

Four of us visited 5 Fifty for an evening meal. Starting with the service/staff...faultless. We were made very welcome and the service was first class. Food.... exceptional. For such a small restaurant to produce such splendid, well presented and most importantly tasty food is testimony to their excellent chef. Cost.....remarkably inexpensive given the quality of food served. Highly recommended if in the area and if not, make a detour, you won’t be disappointed.

Very truthful review as a person who loves food and eats out quiet often, had a Sunday lunch here and was left very satisfied. Was surprised when I walked in, as the place was packed to the brim, always a good sign of a good place. Very nice classic roast, some of the best I've had in a while.

It's a quaint (20 covers), unnoticeable, budget style eatery with interior to match in South Liverpool.

Just wasn't very good at all. Food was fine but very pricey and my experience was the owner is a bit rude. Rather not eat here again. Its not hard to see why they are so small and had to change their name.

We have dined at this restaurant numerous times and never been disappointed. The food is always cooked to a high standard. Presentation is first class and mains come complete with the appropriate garnish and vegetables instead of ordering extras that are inappropriate to the dish.

Quite a small place on the way out to Liverpool Airport, seems very busy, so you need to book. Managed to get a booking by messaging them through Facebook as when I phoned they were full, but got a cancellation.

Pre booked for a Thursday evening as I wasnt sure how busy it would be for my fiancees birthday. First time here and chose it after reading reviews. It's small and intimate with about 20 covers.

Me and my wife had dinner at 5 Fifty recently and we were both blown away by the sheer quality of the food. We dine out at least once a week, usually two (see my other restaurant reviews), and we both agreed that this place serves some of the best food we've ever had. We booked ahead and its a good job we did because 5 Fifty is a really small place - in fact people trying to get a walk in were being turned away during our evening so I'd suggest booking is essential. The hand written menu changes all the time and offers are available, which was the case during our visit, but we also chose from the specials board. I'll post some photo's of representative menu's and offers so that you get a better idea of whats on offer both food wise and price wise. So, for starters I had the smoked haddock scotch egg, celeriac remoulade, basil oil and mixed leaf. It was genuinely outstanding. All of the flavours went together very, very well but the goosebump moment came when I cut the haddock scotch egg in two and was rewarded with a perfectly cooked, runny boiled egg! That level of skilled cooking was duplicated with every course we had during our meal, and speaks volumes for the consistency of quality here. My wife chose from the specials board and had the king prawn, smoked salmon, crab salad with bloody mary dressing (£2.50 supplement) and it was even better than my starter! As you will see in the photo, there was a lot more going on with this plate than the stated seafood and it was all absolutely delicious - what a start! Now for the mains. This time I chose from the specials board. Because I'd heard good things about the lamb rump at 5 Fifty, I ordered this with dauphinoise potato, vegetables and red wine jus (£3.95 suppliment). I'll be honest, when it was placed in front of me I didn't think there was enough lamb and I was wondering if it was cooked to my liking. Well it was perfectly cooked and there was plenty to satisfy my lamb craving, plus the red wine jus was absolutely pefect (more goosebumps there). It was seriously one of the best plates of food I've ever had, even the vegetables were fantastic, and those potatoes! Wow! This time my wife chose from the standard menu and had the seabass with lyonnaise potatoes, vegetables and tomato garlic butter. Once again the food was gorgeous. We like to share our food so that we get a good idea of whats on offer and, although I personally wouldn't have chosen the seabass on that particular night, it was perfectly cooked and absolutely beautiful with a lovely crisp skin, just how I like it! Our evening was going so well we decided to have the dessert course which was an extra £5.50 on top of the set menu, although to be perfectly honest we'd both eaten plenty at that point. With desserts, you never really know if your food was cooked in-house or bought in and we never hold this against a restaurant, but my wifes cherry mille feuille was definitely freshly cooked pastry - what a treat! I ended the night with the vanilla biscuit cheesecake and would certainly recommend it. During our meal we washed the food down with a very palatable bottle (or two) of the house red and this also went down very well indeed. To conclude, if 5 Fifty Bistro was in the city centre it would sell out every cover, every night - but its on Aigburth road with not a lot of other places around it, and is so small you could just walk past the place (as we have many times) and never know the beauty of the food available within, but no longer! We are now firm fans of this genuine hidden treasure and are sure to return, next time for the much vaunted Sunday lunch that I've heard so much about! We were talking about what you could compare 5 Fifty to and the best we could come up with (for locals) was that you should think Spire but with slightly more generous portions. Seriously. Its that good. Highly, highly recommended but make sure you book ahead.

Went for an early dinner, the restaurant is small, but elegant and cozy, best suited for dates in my opinion as it would feel crowded for kids. Ordered the duck to start, and then the steak, and finished with a cake. The service was fantastic, although it was early and pretty empty as I said, but very good.

This was a group meal for 17 people in a small establishment where it is wise to have pre-booked. Since it is small there is not a great deal of room between the tables. Fortunately for our early evening meal when we arrived we were the only ones there.

Went 14/12/18, set menu £18.95 for two courses. We had squid and pork belly to begin, both gorgeous. Mains, sea bass and cod loin ( supplement) again delicious.
