The Square Bistro in Liverpool

Went for breakfast was very nice food. Staff were very nice and friendly. Had a nice atmosphere would definitely go back.

Myself, daughter & son in law popped into "cafe in square" on allerton road Liverpool today. We ordered cup of tea & 2 colas. As waitress came to us to give us drinks she stopped and started gossiping to other customers across seating area, after several minutes I asked my daughter to retrieve tray from her before my cup of tea went cold. Waitress turned around, hesitated & said 'i will fetch it now' and sauntered to our table. This is bad mannered & poor practice in hospitality business, the people she was gossiping to then started to glare at us for the rest of time we were there, the food was tasty but we didn't enjoy being stared at while eating, the male in group of 3 actually turned in his seat to gape at us. We were not intimidated by this odd behaviour, it's just bad manners. We won't be back, I will also inform my family & friends of this experience.

I have just visited with my baby and 4 year old daughter for a healthy lunch. I ordered a Cajun chicken salad, making it clear I didn’t want a ciabatta or taco etc and was told this was fine. It came out in a taco with all sorts of things I didn’t order - avocado, olives, cream cheese, etc. I said I thought they’d given me the wrong thing and the lady replied with ‘because it’s got a taco’ to which I said ‘no, it’s got all sorts of things I didn’t want. I literally wanted a Cajun chicken salad’. I’m the end I felt so uncomfortable I just said I’d pick at the bits I could eat. My daughter got the pancakes and the blueberries were mouldy! I was then charged £19 for mouldy food and a dinner I’d barely touched and was still starving. Terrible.

Popped into The Square Bistro while we were shopping on Allerton Road. We sat at the only vacant table. Always a good sign when an eaterie is busy. Food was delicious; very tasty - bacon had a lovely flavour and the sausages were the tastiest ever. Eggs were perfectly cooked. Dave was a great host. This was my first visit to The Square Bistro. Will be going again soon

May 2020 during the first lockdown myself and my partner were missing being able to go out breakfast and my partner had discovered the UberEats app and suggested we order a full English brekkie through it! We ordered from here and wasn’t expecting it to be great with it being delivered but actually it was very good and can’t complain it was all presented well and all good quality ingredients. Very tasty!

My husband is in a wheelchair so this venue is ideal as we can sit outside with plenty of space, the food is fabulous, always freshly cooked, we took our grandson today he had streaky bacon and blueberries pancakes, was eaten in no time! The staff are lovely always having time to stop and chat sometimes to the detriment of others, but seriously this place is worth a visit. value for money.

Picked up for collection breakfast on point as always. Can tell chef puts effort into everything he cooks.👍👍

We have been visiting the Square for a few years and ownership has changed in that time. The food has always been good but since the new owners have taken over the menu is more varied and food is excellent. I had lunch there with 2 children today and as with previous reviews a table was created for us as the place was full. Nothing is too much trouble. Despite it being busy our orders were delivered in good time. I had the Haloumi fries which are hard to come by in the area and they were so delicious, one of the best I have had in ages. The milkshakes ,I’m told, were gorgeous. If you haven’t visited for a while I would definitely go as you will be pleasantly surprised by the food and service. It’s a real gem.

We arrived just before 1pm (three adults and four small children) to find the cafe full. The owners were fantastic, putting up extra tables and bending over backwards to make us feel welcome. The food was fantastic (as it always is) and nothing was too much trouble. This is certainly the best family orientated cafe in this area. Very highly recommended.

My friend and i pop in here for lunch, food is delicious and very fresh...good value for money, good atmosphere and the staff are really friendly and accomodating. Definately a place to visit inbetween shopping on allerton.road

11 of us went to The Square on Friday night for a family meal out. The evening menu is amazing value at £14.95 for 2 courses and £17.95 for 3 courses - not counting any supplements for steak etc. 5 of us had fillet steak cooked 3 different ways - well done, medium and medium rare - they were cooked to perfection as the cleaned plates demonstrated. We all had the steaks with a delicious peppercorn sauce and Jenga chips which were crispy on the outside and creamy inside. We had 3 small children with us and they had home made cheese and tomato pizza. Most of us had starters of duck spring roll with plum chutney - the rolls were packed with shredded duck meat and the plum chutney was a delicious accompaniment. Only 3 desserts purchased because we were so full after the previous courses - sticky toffee pudding and Goooey Brownie - both got rave reviews from those that ordered them. On top of that we had a selection of soft drinks, lagers, glasses of red wine and a bottle of proseco. The bill was an amazing £222. As usual the service was first class - attentive and efficient. We will be back of an evening again.

Came here with my friend and grandaughter. Ordered the breakfast 3.95 for 4 items. 95p any additional item. So tasty. No like a greasy cafe but served on beautiful crockery. The staff were great. Nothing too much trouble. My grandaughter has the appetite of a sparrow but they served up a cheese on toast for her that wasn't daunting for her. If your on Allerton road. Pay this lovely bistro a visit. Just along from Queens Drive.

Me and 6 others went earlier, had a fabulous time. Staff members were very cheerful and helpful. Food was fantastic, the full English was to die for. Will be returning again!

Outstanding place to eat or drink. Highly recommended. Been 4 times with my wife in the last week. The front of house service is outstanding and the chef is brilliant.

Excellent food, friendly and attentive staff and a nice place for a private function. I visited for an evening birthday party and was well impressed with the food and the service, As I was staying overnight nearby, I returned for breakfast the following morning and found nothing to change this impression.

Came back withba group of visiting friends have to say service and food was as good as ever we all had fillet steak and salt and pepper chips and they where cooked to perfection

Been here twice for late breakfast. Food is lovely and reasonably priced and the staff are welcoming and friendly. I would reccomend visiting this nice little cafe

A huge, over-filled, toasted bagel together with an excellent cappuccino hit the spot. The cafe is spotlessly clean and the staff are, as ever, lovely.

Hemos estado aquí varias veces, por lo general, los sábados por la mañana y es nuestro lugar favorito para tomar un abundante desayuno. La comida es deliciosa y se puede decir que es de alta calidad, deliciosas salchichas de cerdo Herby, huevos de corral y todos los otros bits, como champiñones, tomates, etc. están perfectamente cocinados y muy calientes.

My family and I visit this bistro every week. The decor is modern and relaxing, the staff are great and the food is exceptional. Once you come here, you'll be a regular! If you find a better breakfast in Liverpool....I'll eat my hat!

What a lovely little Bistro this is, Very friendly and welcoming nothing is too much trouble! Food is delicious and the service is great too, very good value for money I will definately be visiting again and recommending to my family abd friends

Recientemente renovado, este es un lugar excelente para un aperitivo, comida o incluso para una ocasión especial (hasta unos 40, quizás 50 personas, yo diría). El restaurante está impecablemente limpio y el personal es realmente encantador. Huevos revueltos bagel estaba bien lleno de luz, y la rosca de huevo suaves en sí era perfectamente tostados. Torta de zanahoria era húmeda y deliciosa. Café justo y muy caliente. Otros restaurantes locales que ofrecen menús de precio fijo que parece barato, pero la comida le falta el cuidado encontrará aquí y los precios no son altos. Altamente recomendado.

Visité hoy aquí con mis padres por primera vez (han sido antes) y me sorprendió gratamente! Cuando te sientes como un bocadillo de salchichas y huevos pan tostado ido pasado a media tarde, no me decepcionó. Las salchichas tenían su propio sabor característico y atractivo (habría que probar) y del huevo. . Cremosa.! Todos juntos me dejó queriendo más! ! ! El chocolate caliente era también un sabor a recomendar con suficiente nubes en lo alto y no demasiado 'cocoa' amplificador abrumado. Yo casi seguro que vuelva aquí, quizás la próxima vez un desayuno inglés completo. Debo mencionar que el personal también. Muy amable, accesible, eficiente y aparentemente feliz en su trabajo

Excellent breakfast at Square Bistro. Have been several times with family and friends and all love it. Lunches excellent too. Fantastic friendly staff in a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

El tamaño del lugar es ideal para la familia, lo suficientemente amplia para no ser pequeño, pero lo suficientemente pequeño para que sea acogedor y cálido y acogedor es lo de la plaza. Tuve el vegetariano desayuno y que era muy buena.. un poco lento para obtener la bebida pero el chocolate caliente era la pena la espera.. fue simplemente delicioso! Si eres un fan como yo caliente cabía entonces usted debe conseguir uno si vienes aquí!!!

Stopped for coffee and then returned for lunch. The atmosphere was friendly, the foodgood and the service "with a smile" This is a small family owned business and we were impressed by the effort being made to welcome customers. We wish them well.

Me and my husband came here for a meal which was a gift for my 40th. Lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Friendly helpfull staff and tasty freshly cooked food. Salmon fishcakes were delicious and our steaks were so soft we didnt need knives! Everything was fresh and restaurant was spotless! Will definately return soon, thanks for a lovely meal :)

service was excellent, Food we chose was delicious atmosphere was quiet at first as there was only two in the restaurant as we entered but as more people arrived the ambience became more alive. The choice of food and drink was abundant to say it has only been a restaurant for two months, the staff were polite friendly and helpful. We would recommend to all and will be sure to return to this venue soon.

I recently went to The Square Bistro, it's sleak interior and relaxing atmosphere sets up a great evening with family. The food was amazing at such a reasonable price. The staff were extremely friendly and catered to every need. I could not have asked for a more enjoyable night with family. I shall 100% be recommending it to friends and will be returning without a doubt.

The large breakfast is brilliant, always freshly cooked, good service. Much better than the famous one down the road which to me serves pre-cooked food.

Recently had a makeover. Very calm and peaceful atmosphere whilst we ate. Service is of a high standard. Food is homemade and of the highest quality too. The houmous was the nicest I've ever tasted. Family orientated also which is good if you want to take children. Will definitely return for food

8 of us had lunch on Tuesday at the Square Bistro and I have got to say it was the best meal we have had in a long time. The beer battered cod, chips and mushy peas were excellent. The pea and ham soup was very tasty and also the scouse and crusty bread was gorgeous. There was a choice of desserts which are all handmade by the very talented chef, the sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce was to die for.The Bistro it's self is spotlessly clean, light and modern and we can't wait to return again. Thank you everyone for giving us a lovely afternoon. Xx

The Square Bistro now opens Friday and Saturday evenings. 5 of us went on Saturday and the food was really good. I had duck spring rolls to start followed by sea bass with prawn risotto both courses great. Friends had chilli king prawns in shells and their main courses confit duck leg and perfectly cooked steaks. All the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend.

Just had Confit Duck with Oriental Broth, 1st time I've eaten this dish anywhere but can't see how anywhere else will compare! My wife had the lamb rump which she said fell apart and we both finished the meal with a homemade marshmallow cheesecake.Absolutely delicious! This place has just started doing evenings during the weekend and I'm sure very soon it will be packed to the rafters and will need to book! Definitely be back, good job!

Working on Allerton road I get my dinner here daily , always cooked to perfection ! You can tell everything's cooked from fresh with lovely staff and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended !

Great place to eat. The Square is spacious and accessible with a nice atmosphere. Friendly staff and nice food. It is the second time I have been here and I will be returning in the future. I would definitely recommend the Square to other people.

The breakfast here is amazing, quality, fresh ingredients at a reasonable price, the bread they use is amazing! I will defiantly be retuning... The staff were also lovey and really welcoming if your looking for tasty fresh food you have to try here!

A friendly place to grab a quick bite to eat, the food is simple but well cooked and the service is quick but friendly. It's a good place to sit and have a catch up with a friend over a sandwich and a cup of tea.

I only had tea and cake but was impressed by what I saw. The tea was freshly brewed and came with it's own pot of hot water and plenty of milk in a jug. I also had a yummy chocolate brownie which I can definitely recommend. The other diners seemed equally satisfied with what they had ordered. The service is friendly too. There are tables outside for those who like people watching.
