Paul's Pie and Mash in Swale

Having been in most of Londons pie and mash shops, Manzes, Cookes, Goddards, Clarkes in Exmouth Market when it was there, Kellys and so on. We were sceptical of the authenticity of the food on Sunday lunch but were really happy. No marble tables to sit at, but we took our food with us and it really was up there with the best. Liquor was top and they even sold chili vinegar. Good value too. We will be back. Thank you

We had pie and mash last night from Paul’s and it was so nice! I’m here for a few days from Cornwall so it is a long awaited treat. Had to go back tonight for good old cod and chips and they were lovely too.

Stay in leysdown with my partner and 2 kids, we pooped along to pauls for some food the staff was friendly and patient while I was deciding what I wanted bit of a fussy eater, the pies were amazing the liquor was perfect, the kids enjoyed their Savaloy and chips and my partner had large cod and chips the fish was massive and fresh would deffo recommend 5*

Probably amongst the worst fish and chips I have had for many years. Fish and chips were cooked in dirty old oil I could taste it. The fish was dry and tasteless, will never waste my money there again.

Over the past year have had a number of takeaways from Pauls and they have all been excellent. Kim loves the Scampi from here and I like the fish as well as Spam fritters and sauages and savaloys. His chips are best in Leysdown by a mile. Pauls is best fish and chip shop in Leysdown by a mile

We just bought a caravan in Minster, Paul’s Pie & Mash is only 10 minutes from us. Haven’t tried the fish and chips yet, but the Pie & Mash is lovely. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Always good to call and order before you go as they get very busy.

Another fantastic take away from Paul's,been going to Paul's for years,fish is cooked to order also chips so when you arrive home your meal is still pipping hot, would not get my fish and chips from anywhere else. Best on the island.

The fish and chips would have been great , but they had a nasty twang . Either the oil needed changing . Or perhaps a better oil would help . Sorry but wont be rushing back !!!

I was closing down my caravan. I went to Paul's to get some food. When I'm in Leysdown I always go there. The food is freshly cooked. There is a little wait. If you want fresh good quality food. Just go's to Paul's.

Chips crap, service crap, waited 25 minutes for 2x portions of chip only 1 person in front of me. If they took more time dealing with the customers that have already paid and waiting and not new customers coming in this wouldn’t be a problem....

the man behind counter i presume was Paul has spent a fortune on new friers and lighting flooring me and mate didnt recognise the place !! i had steak n kidney pie n chips pie was usual but the CHIPS were proper old school crunchy no oil or greasy really nice !!! my friend had cod n chips he said cod was delicious n CHIPS were fantastic !!!

This was the only fish and chip shop open in town. They cook fish to order but fish very small with to much batter. Chips were OK but nothing special. Person serving did not see. Happy and looked like he had been working out the back. Will not be going back anytime soon

Found this chippy on the first night where we stayed at Harts holiday park, and the food was lovely 10/10.

Disappointed, visited the area and was keen for an authentic pie and mash experience. The service was poor, hardly got a word out of them and then had to stand waiting for about 30 minutes for a single pie and mash. It wasn’t busy, in the fact I was the only person in there. I accept the pies are made on site and I appreciated a fresh one, but it would have been nice to have been told there would be a wait or to receive an update. The pie was excellent. The mash and the liquor lacked flavour.

Had cod and chips, waited 15 minutes as it were freshly made and deffo worth it! Huge portion ;) Curry sauce one of the best I had so far!

Always use Paul's for pie and mash when we come to Leysdown. The pies are packed out the potato is soft and liquor tastes great. Due to covid seats are outside or take away but still as good. staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

Forget our local pie and mash shop drove about 104 miles round trip 3 hours hour there and back peckham to Leysdown-on-Sea too the best pie and mash shop in kent Leysdown-on-Sea Paul's pie and mash is a small family run business the pie and mash is allways great I'd rate in 10 out of 10 great food great atmosphere well priced and paul and the family are so very friendly i would recommend people to try all so great fish and chips xxxx ♥️♥️♥️♥️

In Leysdown for the weekend and of course had to have pie, mash and liqueur. The pies were delicious, the mash was luke warm otherwise I would've rated it 5 stars. Would visit again but ask for mash to be hot.

Well, came here for my birthday treat as i love pie mash and liquor. I was not disappointed and it was worth the drive from sittingbourne. Even my daughter who dislikes mash was happy as they serve fish and chip shop food also! Will definitely be returning!

Food was good ,service was quick .I recommend to anyone who likes traditional dishes and would like a little treat! Empty plates all round no leftovers, I am satisfied with my order. Best thing is its open all year round!

We usually visit Paul’s pie and mash shop in Leysdown every Wednesday, even my mum enjoys visiting Pauls, and she’s 93, it’s a reminder of when we lived in London. There is always a warm welcome from Paul and his Wife. Paul’s is definitely worth a visit. I know pie and mash is not everyone ‘cup of tea’ especially the green liquor (it’s only parsley sauce) but we ‘love”it.

Whenever we are in Leysdown we go to Paul’s. We have always been happy. However we noticed during our last visit prices have gone up a lot.

Been eating here for years, lovely family run place, the most reasonably priced one in Leysdown, good variety of food. Couldn’t recommend highly enough. There’s a reason it’s survived for so long in Leysdown - it’s cause it’s great!

Overpriced, greasy food, not up to standard. Wanted to charge £3.50 for a potion of chips!! Should of known as you could see from the dirty tables so much had been left. Also staff rude as well, don’t waste your time.

We came down yesterday as a family and was going to have fish and chips but we drove past this place and both myself and my mum fancied a try as we love Pie and Mash. Just popped in for a quick bite as i was super busy. As i came in i noticed the place was spick and span, a decent flow of londoners seated for their pie and mash (which looked beautiful) as i got to the counter was greeted by paul and his wife as if they had known me for years, the friendliness and professionalism of them both was exceptional, i placed my order and it was cooked fresh right infront of me, the whole time i was waiting for my food paul was making sure everything was clean, whilst talking to everybody to see if they were happy etc, pauls wife was doing the cooking and also creating conversation, such a lovely woman.

Always bring my family here, and never have a problem, food is always cooked fresh to order and staff are always welcoming

We had scampi and plaice; both portions were tiny (the seafood) but coated with tons of batter. I ate FIVE mouthfuls of pure batter before i got to the plaice. My wife gave me five of her "scampi" as her scampi were all batter, no scampi (well, 1/4 portions of scampi tail). As many of the people here are pie and gravy types, I wouldn't accept their reviews - they probably live on chicken nugets. Honestly, one of the worst fish and chip bars I've been to - my advice? Stay away unless you're a TV /microwave supper cockney.

The man cooking was rude and couldn’t even respond to a question,I thought it was me but I noticed he was rude to everyone,the food took ages and portions were small for the price my spam fritter cost £2.50 and was very thin and burnt the fish was so small it wouldn’t even feed a child

Had pie mash it was horrible liquor had lumps in which I have never seen before! Vinegar stunk! smelt old and dirty, pies were ok. Did not cater for child who wanted a kids fish or fish bites so had to buy a small adult fish, batter was greasy. I used the loo out the back and kitchen looked spotless though. I hate leaving bad reviews but it was really not very nice.

I have been coming to Pauls for just over a year now. The food is always spot on and tasty. My son can be a fussy eater and there is always something he will enjoy on the Menu. Personally I come for the pie mash. Sometimes twice a day if I can. It’s special to be able to Come this far out and get a propa good old school dish. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Food maybe slightly longer In busy periods, but it’s definitely worth the wait. Paul the owner is one of your own and a top guy. Would definitely recommend to anyone passing. I was in the other day and he pointed a family out to me who have been coming to the shop for 30 years! That shows you how good it is.

Just back from Paul’s in Leysdown! What an unexpected treat it was. I originally come from the East end and I can honestly say it was as good, if not better, than any Pie N Mash Shop I’ve eaten at! The Guvnor, Paul, is a gentleman and had a good old chat as he comes from West Ham. If you haven’t visited yet you’re in for a pleasant surprise. They also do fish n chips so I may go back before I return to Scotland!

Our family of fussy eaters have tried both the fish and chips and the pie and mash and their were gorgeous. Not greasy and freshly cooked to order with polite and friendly service.

Well back to Paul's pie and mash haven't been on the island for a while and I have missed it so much nowhere anywhere does pie and mash and fish and chips like this men when I can't get it I miss it never disappointed by far my favourite place to eat and with a large variety of food that you can order I will never get bored of eating their try it you will love it and also love the friendly atmosphere and the owner Paul well what a lovely guy

We found this cafe extremely friendly and welcoming. In my opinion it’s the best pie and mash I’ve ever had. Beats east and southeast London’s shops. We were staying at Hart's holiday park in Leysdown, and saw Paul's pie and mash shop on our first day there. My wife (who's from London) had been telling me for years about pie and mash, but we'd never found anywhere before that did it.

Came here with my family yesterday. Food tasted amazing - traditional pie and mash really was lovely, homemade and freshly cooked. All staff were very friendly, couldn’t fault the place really. Definitely would come back next time.

When you get pie & mash you expect traditional English style but this place I don’t no what’s gone wrong never a smile on the staffs faces the girls that do table service always look scared food has gone down hill won’t be returning

Always visited this place when I was a child during the summer holidays. Would be excited to get my pie, double mash and gravy. Took a trip down memory lane today and safe to say not much has changed.
