Visited Paul at Richmond on March 20th 2022. They make disgusting 'hot chocolate' that is the Italian style molten chocolate calorie bomb. We wanted regular hot chocolate that is served in 90% of UK shops. Needless to say, the response from the management was more Paris than French but not what is understood as courtesy in this county This kind of chocolate should have a different name such as Italian style chocolate, or tres Mal chocolat chaude de franchise disgustant. Disgusting service and disgusting French Hot Chocolate. The strawberry tart was like an anti tank mine. There are better places in Richmond, try Oree next to Tesco.

Very disappointed with cakes I ordered from you guys. You used to do a very nice cakes, but not anymore. Also, I am as shocked with how your system made trick on me. I did select collection store in Kingston (where I normally collected my order), however for some reason my order went to Richmond store. If I was without car, there was no way I could collect my order. I without checking email, went to Kingston, where staff told me they don’t have my order, I started check my email and only then I realised that it went to Richmond. Why this happened I don’t know, and nobody could explain me that. But I am 100% sure I selected Kingston store. The cakes as I said wasn’t good as it was before. Raspberries was frozen, cream wasn’t tasty at all, and your new pie with cherries didn’t meet our expectations and your description . Overall my experience was very bad, no customer service anymore, no tasty cakes, and very bad online booking system. I made my decision to not comeback to you anymore. Many thanks!

Looks like the sister ship to my cafe in Richmond does not have room on Trip Advisor for its Oxford Circus outlet. That’s a pity as it’s different. The Oxford Circus outlet expects seated clients to clear the dirty utensils from the table. So difficult to do in our virus plagued times. Then if you need an extra serviette There are none to be had at the counter. This outlet ranks right ‘outta here’ when you measure its hygiene standards. Awful

Looking for somewhere to have drinks we found this place and decided to go in and try the offer of a drink and pastry. Ordering was easy enough and then waited behind another customer for our drinks. For some reason the drinks I ordered arrived before the person before me. I mentioned this to the person making the drinks who apologised to the other person who was in front of me. The pastries were ok and the tea good but to be honest not a lot can go wrong with tea. The coffee for me was disappointing as it was weak with little flavour. The worst thing was when some milk was spilt on a chair that was then cleaned up with the same cloth that was used to wipe the table. The chair was then left in place ready for someone to sit on the spilt milk. Not acceptable. I have given the review three as the tea and pastries were ok. Also the cakes looked very good.

My biggest disappointment was being made to pay a service charge on everything by eating in but still being given my Flat White in a paper takeaway cup. Not only is this bad for the environment but simply not as nice as drinking out of a glass or ceramic cup. Food is okay, Coffee very good, Service very friendly. Not great value Just under £9 for Flat white, Mozzarella Baguette and crisps. Popular with the French, food is fresh as you'd expect from the French. Pastries were very expensive so went without.

Without a doubt one of my favourite places to go for lunch when visiting London. I usually have a goat's cheese baguette followed by a delectable and aesthetically pleasing slice of something sweet. For comparison, think of an upmarket Pret (flavour and choice based) with not too much of a price difference but the added bonus of a welcoming environment. I adore PAULS!

Paul establishments provide cheap eats and coffees in their shops, but they really don't put much effort into the eat-in side and the experience is not great. Products are middle range in terms of value and quality. You won't go away angry, but are unlikely to go away feeling you've had a great experience.

We stumbled upon Paul while seeking out a place for a cup of tea and an afternoon snack. It was the perfect choice for food and warm beverages, with surprisingly good pastries reminiscent of a recent trip to Paris. The café in Richmond had the feel of a one-of-a-kind establishment, so we were surprised to discover that Paul is a chain restaurant. While we can't vouch for any of the others, we'd definitely give them a try, based on our experience in Richmond.

Had I known how uncomfortable & kinda grotty this Cafe was before buying my food at the counter last Monday....which is how they operate... I would have avoided it like the plague. The Coffee & Cheese/Ham Croissant was quite expensive but acceptable had one been able to relax in comfort at a table. There was a table for two at a corner where I would have had to sit sideways & the other option was beside a girl who was not eating but slouched over her lap-top & either myself or the two girls behind me had to stand up so I could sit & later they could leave. I really did not think the place was hygenic & of course the Toilet was 'Out of Order'. I think this is common practice in London in order to make people use Public Facilities even though I saw a notice in a Magazine that Richmond was Toilet friendly!! I've been in Paul Cafes in several Cities including Mercato Mall in Dubai which I really like but I will choose elsewhere in future because of my negative experience last week.

A French chain, now pretty much ubiquitous everywhere in the Greater London area where there is a well-heeled residential or working population, Paul maintains a hight standard in breads, pastries and cakes, as well as in their small selection of sandwiches, soups etc. for taking away or eating in. Unlike most other bakeries, coffee/tea shops in Richmond, Paul is close to the station, opens early and stays open until 7.30 in the evening on weekdays, 7 at weekends. Which made it a great place to meet if all you want is a break, a hot drink and maybe a snack before facing the rest if the day. The ambience in the small cafe area is unremarkable - dark varnished wood tables and chairs, close together, and service at the counter not particularly speedy. but the quality of the products makes up for this.

Visted yesterday and found the cafe very overpriced - £5.95 for a sausage roll that literally dripped fat all over the table - you can get half a dozen much nicer ones at Greggs for that 😂 Chocolate cake looked good but at £5.25 a slice we gave it a miss, likewise £11.50 for a baked potato with sausage and onions. My latte didn't appear to have much milk in it (clue should be in the name) and the service wasn't particularly friendly either. Dirty crockery was piling up and not being cleared - I'm guessing they were short of staff. Hampton Court Palace is one of my absolute favourite places but this little cafe really needs some TLC.
