Dropped in for cake... ended up with lunch. Yes there are plenty of cafes in Kircudbright but to be honest this place makes lovely fresh rolls (for just £2.50 each), and they make a mean coffee and hot chocolate. A lovely wee picnic lunch and yes we will be back!

PAUL JONES BAKERY in Kirkcudbright is excellent. Visited many times during our 3 week holiday. Great choice of items available. Various home made delicious pies, sausage rolls, filled rolls, sandwiches etc., and an array of beautiful home baked cakes which were to die for! The staff were so friendly, efficient and most helpful - a real credit to the Bakery. Coming back next year for 3 weeks so will definitely be back. Would highly recommend this Bakery to others.

Lovely cakes. We bought apple turnovers and coconut macaroons. Then went back and bought steak and haggis pies and scotch pies to eat in the campervan. Everything was tasty and plenty of meat in the pies. Would definitely visit again if we getcup this way

Great variety of cakes and bread. The staff were friendly and efficient. Would definitely visit this bakery again when visiting Kirkcudbright.

Bought a chicken pie here today for my daughter - was not expecting to get maggots as an additional bonus. Went back to complain and shop remained open to public. I would caution anyone who shops here and seriously question the hygiene levels 😱

Asked for 3 warmed pies (2 chicken and haggis, 1 steak pie) however they were served just with a hint of warmth and the steak pie was undercooked. I was also charged nearly double than the previous year and substantially higher than the listed price. Very disappointed.

Fantastic pastries and savory pies. We had a coconut donut and strawberry tart in the morning. Took home steak pies, a sausage roll and a macaroni pie to eat later, all luscious! Recommend all travelers try this lovely bakery.

Locals will need no introduction but visitors should check it out. Open at 0600 for excellent bacon buns if you have an early start. Outstanding pies of which the steak and haggis (sic) was the best with apple pie for dessert close behind. Also filled rolls etc.

Old fashioned bakers, fantastic. the morning bacon roles tarts are fantastic. Meat pies meat with haggis or back pudding great. Not expensive. Don't do avocados.

The counter assistant handled the goods with her bare hands and then handled cash. The fresh cream goods were on an ordinary shelf, not a refrigerated shelf. The cakes and pies from here are delicious, but after seeing this lack of hygiene one wonders what goes on behind the scenes.

This is a special place serving good wholesome bread, cakes and fancies. Recently they made and decorated a very special birthday cake for my wife and me to enjoy sitting in the harbour in Kirkcudbright. Excellent cheerful service is guarenteed.

We stopped here while visitors town. With a queue outside, we knew it must be a local favourite! And we were not wrong. Freshly made sandwiches to order, with savoury and sweet pastries, cakes and drinks. Friendly staff and great service.. Worth the wait. Tuna mayonaise and salad and chicken salad sandwiches, with a vanilla slice and oat biscuits with butter cream. Yum!

The SWI had our Christmas Meal here this year and pre ordered. I had the turkey and trimmings which was served on a huge platter and three huge slices of turkey. Everything cooked to perfection. I took the apple strudel and ice cream - great ice cream. Everyone enjoyed what they had ordered and a lovely atmosphere, and attentive serving staff who were pleased to see us and cheery.

We had a superb midweek supper here with friends in November. Bit of a trek from Dumfries but well worth the visit, and even closer to the M74 for anyone travelling up to Scotland in need of a refreshment. The haggis bites were delicious and the lamb kleftiko simply melted in the mouth. Their Chilean SB was extremely gluggable and very reasonably priced. Abbey and Jack were the best hosts. Highly recommended.

A late lunch stop off. Beautiful coffee, not an oz of fat in the pasty and a chocolate twist that I had eaten most of before I remembered to take a photo! Another quality visit. Thanks 😊

This is without a doubt the best place for lunch in Dumfries. The food just gets better and better. We ordered a selection of 4 dishes none of which disappointed 🥰
