I have to say I have been a fan and a lover of Patisserie Valerie for many years. I used to go the one in Leeds at least once a week fr breakfast. I've come to this one (in Leicester Sq) a few times and I have to be really really honest.. It's gone down so much and it's such a shame. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I am honest and I hope it helps to improve things. There is so much wrong, I don't know where to start. The service was poor, the waiter didn't write down what I ordered and he had to come back and ask me to confirm what I ordered. However he then bought me the wrong food. All he said was, I'll get it changed and I was left waiting for a while. When the food (I ordered Eggs Benedict, with a side of beans) did come, it was cold and under cooked. Again I will be honest and say, I was left disappointed. They do have some amazing sweets, cakes etc.. but the service in this case was a let down. I can't say that would not go back, but I can't promise I would.

Cakes look nice but the quality of the ingredients is low, mostly dry components which relying on sugar to enhance the senses instead of flavours and real baking skill.

Sad that there are so few branches left post their accounting debacle. Meeting a friend near Leicester Square Tube, so the first good cafe which caught my eye. Great coffee (American, Cappuccino and Macciato) it was a long meeting. The Apple & Cinnamon Croissant was good but bizarre. A flat pastry which required a knife to cut it. Looked nothing like a croissant... Hayling Seagoon

We came here for afternoon tea at 3pm. Our first waiter was really nice, but when his shift was over we found it really hard to get any attention from the remaining staff. They were very busy, but we felt like any request we made was an annoyance to them, and we were left waiting a long time. They also didn't come to check on us once. We had to go to the till to pay the bill.

Visited as part of an afternoon tea gift package with no pre booking needed. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Sitting area is very tired and in need of refurbishment. Afternoon tea was with unlimited drinks with a selection of sandwiches, scones with cream and cakes. Although freshly made some sandwiches and scones were dry which was disappointing. Wouldn't recommend and luckily done on a voucher but the staff made it a more pleasurable visit

We went for afternoon tea. As we had a voucher. The place needs a really good makeover as it’s very shabby and dirty. The sandwiches were very bland and the cakes were ok. It’s definitely not a place we would return to. If they want to continue running as a business they should take more pride with the place and there products.

We had a voucher for afternoon tea for two and, as we had just been on a boat trip nearby, decided to go to this one in Charing Cross Road. The shop itself really badly needs a make-over - it is quite tatty, with almost zero atmosphere. HOWEVER, the staff are really great - friendly, helpful, attentive and they, and the kitchen, looked after my husband in particular, with his various allergies. Sandwiches were made especially for us without any of the possible allergens and we were made aware which cakes might be a problem, so all went well. The sandwiches were very fresh, the cakes delicious and my husband particularly enjoyed the scones with cream. We had tea and I ordered an extra flat white, which was complimentary - a nice touch. Can't say we will go there again, purely because of the actual shop being so tatty, but nothing wrong with the food and the staff were ace!

I've often gazed in the window and admired the cakes on display but sadly will do no more. After a visit to the National Gallery we decided to pop in for afternoon tea, the shabby surroundings quickly made up our minds to only stop for a coffee and a cake. Whilst deciding what to have,my friend started coughing and despite trying to attract the attention of a waiter she ended up getting up and asking for a glass of water. This was supposedly going to arrive immediately but as we left there was still no sign of it. We opted for two cappuccinos and a pretty ghastly mille feuille with a bright yellow synthetic tasting creme patisserie all for an eye watering £14.75. Overpriced and disappointing so I won't be salivating at the windows in future.

We visited here for a pot of tea and cake but the service was so bad, I’ve never seen anything like it. We had to ask for a menu after being shown to our table and not given one for 5-10 minutes. Once we had chosen, the very simple order took 20 minutes to arrive. Not only that, I had to actually get my own cakes because they were waiting on the side about 2 metres from our table and nobody delivered them to us. The waiters seemed absolutely useless, having a conversation and a laugh with each other but forgetting their job completely. Would never return, terrible service and not worth the time we wasted.
