Great place. I haven't been in for years, but went in last week. Atmosphere is friendly and inviting and the fires are lovely!

Favourite Sunday roast I’ve had to date. All round great portion size, price and top food

Had my birtday lunch here on Friday 13th Dec, I have been here twice already with my best friend. First class traditional home cooked food, loads of fresh veg , large jugs of gravy, not overpriced , decent portions served hot. There is a nice roaring coal fire when it's cold. I am slowly working myself through the menu, having tried the gammon, steak pie and steak and suet pudding. I can wholly say they are all perfect.

Good food at a really good price.

First time for a Sunday roast which was absolutely amazing , so much food and unbelievable value for money. I would highly recommend and this will now be our only go to place when eating out for a Sunday roast.

Great rural Cheshire pub with a good selection of Samuel Smith's ales. Staff and locals are friendly and Sunday lunch is not to be missed, although booking is recommended. Bear in mind that the pub has a policy of no electronic devices so phones will need to be silenced. Highly recommended

Nice little village pub serving Samuel Smith's beer and absolutely fabulous food. I'm almost scared to rate this place too highly because it's a bit of a hidden gem that I want to keep secret. It really does deserve to get credit for how lovely it is though.

I just thought it's very tired looking and needs decorating badly,table's were very sticky, food okay but lacking atmosphere

A lovely little country pub which we discovered whilst cycling. It’s a joy to find a traditional pub with great service and a friendly atmosphere. The barmaid, Wendy made us feel most welcome and the food was well presented and tasty. The prices very reasonable and we’ll definitely be back again

Lovely country pub in a quiet setting. Well worth visiting for the excellent beer garden alone. The outdoor area was immaculate and beautifully kept. Better still we were able to enjoy a pint at realistic prices. Looking forward to visiting here next time I am in the North West.

Had a standard Sunday Dinner today, was amazing, cooked to perfection with really large portions. Choice of beef, turkey or ham, roast & Mash potatoes, stuffing. Carrots, broccoli & cabbage with butter on a separate plate to share. Might have to go for the small next time, just so that I can try the sweets. Nice cosy rooms, with plenty if seating outside in the beer garden. We will definitely be going again, what a lovely find, thankyou.

Kabouter was on a look out and driving round and found this lovely GEM of a local pub🏆👍 Lovely building and very nice tranquil pub just to sit and drink a pint. Unspoiled. Will visit surely next time👌👍

Superb roast (best I’ve had in a long time) Had the mixed pork & beef. Roast potatoes and Yorkshire was perfect. I love they gave us a big jug of gravy between the two of us (as some places can be a little “shy” in that front) 😆 Really nice meal, good value in a rustic, old pub. Nice find, courtesy of google Maps whilst we were out walking in the area. Will definitely be coming back.

Wow wow wow!!! What a fantastic boozer! Proper old fashioned with all small rooms and real fires. Sunday lunch was best I’ve had in years! Will defiantly be back!!

The food was lovely I had the liver and onions it was delicious,large portions very good value. The staff were very pleasant,nothing to much trouble,a lovely old fashioned pub.

This is your standard old fashioned pub, however the pub meals were very good and the staff really nice. You need to pay in cash, no cards.

Beautiful Sam smiths pub in a picturesque village. It has several rooms which are all lovely. Locals local for local folk. Lovely pub and I'm sure the people are lovely too..Sam smiths so cash only and no phones etc.. Also no music or sports.. Has a games room for darts 🎯 🍻 recommended for the pub alone 👍

Unusually for Cheshire this is an original pub, not a gastro pub and not yet refurbished. The welcome was excellent, the beer good as was the food and very reasonably priced. You should go there, it's enjoyably different.

Doing some coach driving at Colshaw Hall, a Christmas event I decided to walk to the closest pub on Google maps and arrived here Lovely little pub, had the beautiful steak and kidney pie chips veg and lots of gravy really really nice, but be aware...they only serve food until 8....very attentive staff too a nice lady who looked after me as I was a bit of a saddo having a romantic meal for one lol....thank you

Nice traditional pub long may it reign

This is a traditional pub which has not been spoiled by modernisation. Step back in time and enjoy good meal portions with a fine pint of Sam Smith's bitter etc. Reasonable garden facilities and easy parking. Friendly staff.

Good old fashioned pub. Went after a walk and the portions are great for post walk warm up. I heard another customer asking whether that was the half portion as it was so big. It really was the half. My wife had the 3 bean chilli and loved it. I had cheese and pickle butty with chips. Awesome. Good tea and coffee as well. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Lovely cosy pub. Food was good priced, but not very good. Fish was watery, chips are homemade, but more like wedges than chips. And whatever lager they have on tap, was not good at all. That said, it is a nice little cosy pub, and everyone is friendly, sadly, food wasn't to my taste. I would recommend going, hopefully the other dishes are nicer.

It's cash only and the sign which tells you that is on the in inside! What a waste of time, sign in, sanitise, one way system, just to find out they won't take my money.

Very disappointed. We went for a birthday meal, and the customer service was awful. They began clearing the tables before we had finished eating and one of us was still chewing their dinner when it was took away, which made us feel very rushed and uncomfortable. We found the staff to be rude and they did not make us feel welcome. We have previously visited this pub 12 months ago and the price of the beer has increased by £1 and the price of lager has doubled. One pint of lager was £4.20. The food was OK however we would not recommend due to the service. None of the staff were wearing gloves or masks which is not great during the Covid-19 situation.

Refreshingly authentic country pub. A proper local, unchanged in 50 years. Fantastic home cooked, traditional pub grub at fantastic prices. Will eat here again.

A somewhat rustic, old-fashioned Sam Smiths country pub. It is something of a precious relic, since there are less and less of these in existence. Drinks, food and snacks are very reasonably priced as per the Sam Smiths ethos; just be aware that electronic devices are frowned upon as conversation is encouraged and there will be no jukeboxes, fruit machines or TV in here. Very much worth a visit; friendly locals.

Great selection of Sam Smith's "propper" beers, ales and cider. Decor looking a bit past it now.

This place is a very old county pub the food here for Quality Quantity & price is amazing. You will not leave here hungry. The beer is also kind to the wallet. If you need to find somewhere where's cheap value for money & tastes great you need to try here. It is also a dog friendly pub. We have now had the Sunday Roast & now tried the beef pie both meals were great!! It does get very busy so booking is advisable to avoid disappointment.
