Papillon coffee shop in Bedford

I arranged an Afternoon Tea, baby shower for my sister at Papillon in August. I was in contact with Lisa from the start to sort out all the details, and Lisa was so lovely, friendly and happy to accommodate all our needs (including dietary needs). Even when I had to change the number of people coming (two times!), Lisa was still happy to help me out. On the afternoon of the event I arrived early to set up, and was very kindly given the big space at the back of the Café that was more private. Lisa and her team allowed me to put up banners and asked if I needed anything, etc. After all the guests had arrived, the staff at Papillon were so helpful in accommodating all the needs of our large group. It was also very and relaxed, as they allowed us to have time chatting before bringing out the afternoon teas. The Afternoon Tea was 10/10 as it always is, (I've been several times before!) such a great selection, and everything just tasted fantastic. But nothing can beat their sausage rolls, the best I've had in Bedford! They even put a little baby shower decoration on the afternoon tea stands, which was so lovely and gave us extra cheesecakes. Even after the Café was closing (and we lost track of the time.....) the staff were so considerate and let us stay a little longer to finish up our games. Every request I had (pencils for our games, boxes to back up the cakes) the staff couldn't be more helpful. At to top of it off, after we finally left (well after the closing time!) one of the staff members kindly took a group photograph. Overall I am so happy with the experience, and so grateful to all the staff at Papillon for helping to make this Baby Shower so special for my Sister. THANK YOU

After some appointments in the area we popped in for a cup of tea and a scone. Excellent quality ingredients - Twinings, Lurpak and Wilkins - and the scone was soft, light and fresh. Generously sized too. Staff were warm and welcoming. Spotless crockery, cutlery and tables. Good value all round and certainly better than you'd get for the same money in one of the multi-corporate coffee houses.

I come to Papillon on a regular basis to start my mornings off and am always greeted with a friendly smile and a delicious cappuccino. It has a really friendly vibe and the decor is nice and cosy. Highly recommend!

This place was perfect for a school reunion for the 6 of us. The afternoon tea was delicious and the service was exemplary. We will return.

Been here many times and the drinks, food and friendly staff never fail us. Tried the new brunch menu today having smashed avocado on home baked sourdough toast with two beautifully poached eggs. Excellent. Try it.

We came here for lunch and really enjoyed it. It’s a regular coffee stop for us but this time we ordered from the panini and baguette fillings menu. All was great (delicious thick-sliced bacon too!) and served in good time. The interior itself is comfortable and relaxing. I dare say we’ll return for more soon. Their cake options are great as well! Another excellent example of a local independent doing well in Bedford.

The coffee here is very good and the cakes its a pity their menu isnt more comprehensive. The staff are friendly and will stop and chat. Worth a visit

We popped in for lunch midweek and the food was excellent. The service is always good and the coffee is a good blend. They have very healthy food and drink options and parking can be found outside.

Whenever I visit Papillon the staff greet us with a smile and are very helpful. They have a great range of cakes and a lovely range of food for lunches, I ordered a bacon and brie baguette, they are very generous with the fillings, Coffee is good and the cakes are fresh. will definatly come again.

Went with a friend for breakfast & loved the new deco. The food was great with a very varied menu of food & drink. Can’t praise the wonderful staff enough for their customer service . They were very approachable & couldn’t do enough to help in any way . Definitely will be visiting again . It’s well worth a visit .

I’m guilty of not frequenting this amazing coffee house as much as I should, but every visit is great. The staff are amazing across the board, very welcoming and friendly, and the drinks/ food are always spot on.

Delicious home made cake - the raspberry and white chocolate is fab, and everything else looked equally good - nicely decorated surroundings and really friendly helpful staff. This is a lovely independent coffee shop, a real find.

If you're in Bedford and fancy a hot chocolate, look no further. The Baileys hot chocolate is an experience more than a drink. And great Service and ambience to match

Great choice of sandwich fillings. Quick and easy to get ordered, service great. Side salad without any dressing which would have been an improvement. Bacon, Brie & Avocado sandwich was delicious and I will be having again! Would recommend to a friend and will be back.

We visited coffee shop for coffee and snack at midday. I would say my sandwich was much better than my coffee. I didn’t like the coffee taste, I would recommend this place for breakfast or snack but not for coffee.

This was my 2nd visit this week with 1 visit the previous week. Each time the Food Excels and customer service is just superb
