Papas in North Somerset

If courier had gotten the right food as ordered I might have been able to state quality of food etc, but a bag full of 2 x chips was definately much too .uch for me to consume and lot had to be thrown away. Also my order was dearer than food I receiv

Ordered through just eat. It’s was all bad. The fish was dry and the batter was flat. Chip cold and just yuck. I ve had much better from other chippys. Delivery was quite late too

Whole sea bass was absolutely delicious.

Maybe my expectations were too high, the place looks the part but unfortunately it was lacking atmosphere and the service was not the best. The scampi was poor quality in spite of being described as the opposite. The restaurant was clean and presentable as well as the toilets. Overall £50 for two people eating fish and chips is very expensive in my view. Parking is a nightmare so park elsewhere and walk if you really want to go there. I will likely not return.

What has happened to Papa’s. The chips used to be so soft and moist but the last couple of times they are completely dry and taste of oil. The standard has gone right down unfortunately.

Bought a chip to takeaway. It was instantly dished out. Friendly service but the chips, though good, were warm rather than hot unfortunately. Clearly they'd be sitting for a bit. I should have returned them but carrying heavy luggage. Ate some, threw the rest

Had some chips takeaway , l thought they were expensive, @£3.50 a bag and were disappointed to find them too thickly cut and a possible change of potato variety?

Food was cold and super soggy, inedible, had to bin it all. Wasted my money and had to order elsewhere.

The chips were hard and lukewarm which is not ideal as we paid so much money for this order.

The chips we received were absolutely the worst we ever had i won't be ordering from papas again

I got introduced to Papas by a friend who is from Weston, and other than what I get in Wales when I go home. it is the best chip shop in England! The chicken nuggets are just amazing made from chicken breast pieces and just taste fabulous, and their chips and gravy are just to die for. I recommend them to everyone I know

Ok......now I'm not one for leaving bad reviews or comments but unfortunately this one is a 2 star ⭐⭐ and that's generous! There aren't many chip shops open on a Sunday evening but fortunately papas was open and I only live around the corner so we thought we'd treat ourselves to some nice chips 😋😉 I Walked in and was greeted by someone who was very down and fed up looking. I was Told a small bag of chips was £3.50 or a large was £4.10 (these better be amazing for that price) I chose 2 small bags at a cost of £7 While I was waiting, there was blatant animosity within the kitchen. A young lad wanted to leave and there was a loud and clear conversation from a guy asking members of staff if it was ok for him to leave?? Obvious Swearing was heard. It just seemed very unprofessional at the time. Now i know life is difficult right now and times are hard but a fish and chip shop that's charging £3.50 for a small bag of chips should be as good as John Lewis or the house of Fraser! All staff behind the fryers seemed very down and cheesed off, especially the tall guy dipping fish into batter! The poor dude looked like he'd literally had enough of the bull💩. I got home, dished up my 2 bags of chips and I have to be honest they weren't great. The cooking Oil definitely needs changing for sure!! So my question to you guys is...... Why?? If you're advertising yourselves as a 5 star fish and chip shop why is this going on?? What happened to Papa's? This place used to be amazing! It's definitely not the same as it used to be 😞 I think you guys need some training and support from Star fish and chips on locking road!!

I have always raved about papas being the best in weston but yesterday got my partner to order 3 cod and chips at £14 per portion, when it arrived I had to do a double take and asked my partner if had accidentally ordered plaice, the cod was so thin less than half the thickness we normally get,batter was lovely as always but probably more batter than fish, my first time of feeling dissapointed and ripped off with papas, so definitely won't be recommending to others as have been in the past, So come on papas your quality is what made you ! Please don't join the average chippy .

I am not local but come to WSM frequently for work. This perhaps is the best fish and chips in the town. Will be happily visiting again.

The meals are quite pricey (and as a visitor to UK I was surprised about the huge difference in prices between the take-away and food consumed inside the restaurant), especially the fish and chips, that you can get for 9 pounds (instead of 17 in here) elsewhere. I waited 30 minutes just for the table, which was quite long. The restaurant itself is quite cozy and has its charm, eventhough it's furnished very simply and the tables are squished very near. I got the hamburger with chips and salad (12,55£) and the food was really tasty and a solid portion. I would probably choose some other place, knowing the amount of waiting and the prices in advance, but I enjoyed the meal in the end.

You should move the tipping to the end of experience. You shouldn't have to tip before the food is delivered.

Later than initially expected, time kept being moved forward by 5 mins. But the food was still hot enough - thanks.

Way overpriced fish and chips tourist trap kind of place go to Wetherspoons on sea front honestly they best in Weston and it’s frozen fish too

Just ordered from Papas, 2 cod and chips, 1 chicken burger with halloumi fries. Absolutely awful, must have thrown it all the friar together as it all tasted of dirty fat. The slither of chicken breast was obviously purchased from Iceland or farm food and there were only 4 halloumi fries! Total cost with delivery was £48 took an hour and 20 minutes to be delivered and was cold. Definitely avoid.

Cold chips, lots of scabby chips, tatlste overcooked

Went in and ordered fish and chips for me and my 2 year old son. Went to sit down and was greeted by a waitress who passed me a menu. I said that we'd already ordered and she told me that's for takeaway only. So me and my young son went out into the pissing rain despite there being NO ONE sat in the restaurant. Doesn't take much to just let that rule slide for the sake of good service. On a side note, the chips were nice and the fish was soggy. Won't be going back.

Ordered a pot of Mushy Peas to come with my meal only for Cury Sauce to be delivered. Food could have been a little hotter as well. :(

Wrong order delivered. The only thing eatable was the Burger. Not a good substitute for my cod and chips. the rest of order was stone cold and I dont drink coca cola. Will not be ordering again

The Classic Cod Fish and Chips was good. Not the greatest. Personal opinion: Too much batter makes it too oily and loses the real taste of the fish. However the chips were amazingly good with the touch of vinegar and salt.

Papa’s usually good, really expensive now for what you get, smaller portions of chips and the fish has shrunk compared to previous orders price gone up with less in the box.

All meals cooked 2 order excellent quality the only thing i disagree with some staff need their manners and attitude how they treat people needs addressing and a better customer service attitude course the way they treat people is wrong my friends had placed an order instead of them getting there so they could watch the show they missed half of the show which it cost us a lot of money 2 come and enjoy a show we desrved a free meal 4 staff attitude be comkng there 4 years but that was bad service 2 my friends

Chips were cold, fish was ok, and curry sauce delivered instead of mushy peas for which I paid £3.20!!!

I usually love Papas but ordered on uber eats tonight and it was the worst fish and chips I have ever had and nothing like it usually is! It was a huge box and the smallest piece of fish, that when I opened it i thought they had forgot to put it in, and there was barely any batter, and what was there was super soft and stuck to the box. The chips were overcooked and half were really dark. I barely ever leave negative reviews but this was such a disappointment and the cost is at the higher end for fish and chips, and usually it is worth it, but I have no idea what happened tonight. It did at least arrive fast - but even less excuse for soggy non-existent batter on the smallest piece of fish that alone cost £10.60...

Ordered fish and chips as separate items as one was for our neighbour and one for us, all came in one box thrown in together, phoned up Papas to complain and they weren't interested and said if you order a fish and chips separately they assume it is together, they wouldn't send out a bag of chips on its own! Poor customer service!

We had a very long meeting with our accountant and ended up super hungry at 3pm so we dashed in to Papa’s. We had my assistance dog with us and the staff were utterly charming even though dogs aren’t usually allowed. He enjoyed his bacon! Great fish and chips for us too!

Cod was lovely, but unfortunately the chips weren’t a patch on the last order, limp and greasy. Pity, as I’d told my parents such good things

Always go to Papas every year when we come to the Beach race , lovely place , lots of nostalgia on walls, worth booking your table though as it does get packed. Highly recommended

Was excited to try this place due to reviews, but the food wasn't great. Haddock was tasteless and certainly not fresh, slightly undercooked. Batter wasn't crispy and tasted of nothing. Chips okay, but dry & underwhelming, also small portions. It wasn't even busy in there but seemed to take ages for customers food to come out, other places which cook to order certainly don't take this long. Lastly I thought this branch was linked to the Papas Brand you get up North so that confused me. Overall I wasn't impressed, spending £35 on a meal of dry chips, tasteless not fresh haddock really annoyed me.

Absolutely delicious chippy. I used to come here when I was younger and remembered it was where all the popular people would go. So I had to go back whilst I was working over there. As I said, food was amazing but the price stung a bit and wouldn’t say it’s cheap as your traditional chippy but I believe their fish is freshly sourced.

Ordered a large pitta kebab. It's was not as large as expected but tasted really good. The salad was not in the pitta but on the side with a large green chill. Salad was fresh. No chips at the price is a tad disappointing. Quality of the food was very good, not greasy or bad after taste Recommended.

Had a OAP special meal it was delicious. Fast service.Marked down on atmosphere as it was very quiet on day we visited. The staff were friendly.

I’d read reviews of Papas and was expecting a great experience. We usually favour Winston’s on the Seafront but the last visit left us looking for another option. We ordered fish and chips twice and two battered sausages. The quantity and quality of chips was great and the piece of fish was of a good size. Unfortunately the batter wasn’t crispy. It was soft and tasted similar to pancake. The fish was quite thin too. The battered sausages were outstanding!

The best fish and chips in Weston!

Disappointingly a very small portion of fish, a lot of chips. Cod roe was fine. The fish was overpriced for it's size!

Wether we order something for lunch or evening dinner, after trying different places, we've come to the conclusion that PAPA'S is the best. You can't knock them.

My friend and I had lunch there while on a coach trip. Absolutely excellent food, service and a very friendly atmosphere, highly recommended.

order never arrived, said it had been delivered but has not been delivered to us. how can it be delivered elsewhere when a code is supposed to be given to the driver. nearly a 30 pound order missing, not happy.

I’ll start by saying the food was half decent the fish was nice and fresh but the chips was mediocre at best, definitely not worth the price. The service was okay in terms of time but the waitress was extremely rude and very judgemental. Very unwilling to help with queries and not great when asking about allergies. Wouldn’t come back again
