Papa Raj in Plymouth

Yet again another absolutely delicious meal from Papa Raj. Ordered online and delivered on time. Veggie meal for one plus a chicken palathie soooo tasty 😋

Have not ordered take away for a couple of years. Have to say, very impressed with Papa Raj; really easy ordering process and superb food - we had the Veggie Meal for two, so good!

HORRENDOUS SERVICE DO NOT ORDER!!! I ordered my meal at 6:30pm and had a confirmation saying that my order was on its way, i live approximately 6 minutes from this institution and my food did not arrive until 8:52pm. This is after me ringing 5 times and i was told rhe same thing everyday “your order is on the way”!!! Do not order from this company if uou want cold, very average and a huge wait for food.

This was expected atleast 45 minutes after it was delivered. I’ve a disabled son who I had to deal with before eating so although the food was very tasty it was cold by the time I got to eat it. I ordered it for 6pm it arrived at 5.

My local, never let me down. The jalfrezi is particularly good but be prepared for heat as they use fresh sliced green chillies which can catch you off guard! Always fast delivery but I am only located a couple of miles away

Outstanding. First time we have used Papa Raj, having been slightly put off by some of the reviews regards lengthy delivery times. OK firstly delivery. Ordered and paid via their website, which meant you can track your order from being confirmed, the food being prepared and finally the food on it's way to you. I placed the order on a Saturday 3 hours before we wished it to be delivered and ordered for 19:15 delivery. It arrived 5 minutes early and was piping hot. Everything we ordered was present. Regards the food, outstanding. Very generous portions, well priced and incredibly tasty. The wife had the tandoori chicken masala and I had the chicken madras. Both dishes were 10 out of 10 and were also huge. Very reasonable priced side dishes as well. Will be back for sure.

Recommend to us so took a drive to check out the food. Not the smartest and seem to be prepping food pots behind the counter but our curries were delicious.

Usually good food, but don't bother with the special Biriyani, £13.15 and not a single whole prawn in it! Rang to speak to them and was told 6 to 8 BITS of prawn are in it! Mainly banana in the one we just had. Then put the phone down on me- poor customer service.

Excellent food had the chicken tikka masala & a chicken buna , as always very tasty & the chicken just fell apart with a fork . It isn’t cheap but well worth a treat !! One small point , given the cost they could have put a couple of side tubs in for free ie mango chutney or onion salad… always used to get them few years ago with an order but maybe that just the times & being online . Other than that will be ordering again.

Waited nearly 3 hours and it arrived incomplete, ruining our evening. This is the second time this has happened lately, won’t be ordering from Papa Raj again

Food was hot and tasty, delivered quicker then expected but we were happy with that. Definitely the best Indian around.

We have been ordering from this place for over 10 years and the food was lovely. But their delivery service and their app is an absolute joke. Unless you want to ruin your evening I would avoid. Even accused me of lying about delivery and collection. Ordered a McDonald’s for a disappointed daughter instead. Shame because we used to love this place.

Gone downhill recently, the naan bread was pretty poor and the onion bhajis seem to be a victim of brexit as they were about the size of small marbles. The mixed tandoori grill was nothing to rave about either. Used to be a great Indian takeaway too. What changed?

Original delivery went to the wrong address; once Papa Raj were informed a new order was made and delivered within 10 mins which was now well over an hour late but appreciated. The food was excellent as usual.

Don't bother ordering on the App. Ordered for collection at 7.30. Waited for 45 minutes. Other people came on after me and left before me. Requested a refund but not given. Order was thrown at me when ready and the man behind the counter said it wasn't his fault. Will not use again.

Unfortunately they seem to be riding on previous reputation. Totally missed and forgot my app order. No apology whatsoever. Food very mediocre at quite a high price for what it is. Very poor customer service.

We’re a regular customer of Papa Raj, the food is always amazing, for me one of the best around. I must comment about the discount codes they offer, after 9 orders they offer a 15% discount on your next order which would be fantastic apart from the fact that it only seems to be valid for 7 days which I really object to. We don’t have Indian every weekend, sometimes opting for some other or simply cooking ourselves. Having a takeaway every weekend get expensive so no everyone is able to afford to do so. I think it’s shocking that these codes only last for 7 days, please consider improving this situation so that your customers can actually benefit from them. Thanks

We get a delivery from here probably once a month. It always arrives hot and never had a problem with the timings. They can get busy and there can be a long wait but always advised, more often than not it’s early. Great tasting food, one of the best Indian takeaways I’ve had. We tend to order from their website which is really easy and allows you to track the delivery.

I would think twice ordering at busy times they cannot cope and our meal has turned up over an hour late I called when it was 20 mins and was told it would be leaving in 5 mins. 40 mins later it still hadn't arrived the next time I called they said the driver was 2mins away. I think the best thing to do is pick it up yourself. and I think it is poor to just say sorry

The Korma and bhaji were good, the curry I found wasn’t as flavoursome as I’ve had in the past. The chips were disgusting over cooked in old oil, rubbery spoiled the whole meal. The price versus quality of food is substandard, if i were in a restaurant. I would’ve returned it to the kitchen. Probably the worst meal from papa raj ever. It very disappointing.

Ordered a delivery for the 1st time & was disappointed. The onion bhajee was slushy in the middle, poppadoms were smashed to smithereens & the zinder rice & garlic nan was tasteless, the spicy chicken was the only thing that had flavour. £40 for 2 people, would not order again.

Good takeaway, the food was lovely and hot and enjoyed by all. Pretty good prices. Atmosphere is a one star as it's a takeaway and was there for 5 mins

Arrived sooner than expected and the food was great!

Very tasty food, we regularly use papa Raj. Generally better food during the week than weekends as I suppose they get very busy. Would recommend to everyone as a reliable and high quality Indian.

Ordered the mixed meal for 2 and a prawn puri and chicken chatt for 4 people. Arrived in good time but the sag aloo was caught and inedible because of the burnt taste. Poppadoms came without dips and chutneys. CTM was tasty but a bit gritty (possibly dessicated coconut used rather than coconut powder). Prawn puri was also caught and not pleasant. Keema naan was really nice as was the Chicken Jal Frezi. Pilau rice was just boiled rice and quite claggy. All in all not great, sorry and nowhere near as nice as Saffron down the road (closed on a Tuesday) for £10 cheaper!

we had to call twice to find out where the food was. The first time we were left hanging on the phone for 20 minutes when we eventually hung up. The second call nobody seemed to know anything about our order but then kept saying it had been delivered. Really bad service and very dissapointed. We orderded early thinking it would be delivered ontime, but clearly that was a mistake.

Ordered £130 delivery for 5 couples last night, half the order was missing, no popadoms or naan bread. Ate my curry without them, ruined it to be honest. I hope this is a one off.

Always go to papa raj. Food is very tasty. Staff are very polite and collection time is great

Ordered a takeaway at 6:30pm, told it would be ready ASAP. Wasn't ready to collect until 7:30pm, was not given the food until 8:15pm. Told it was packed when it clearly wasn't. Very disappointed!!!!!

Firstly, the nails of the guy that made the delivery were spectacular. 5 Stars. Second, it took 15-20 minutes from ordering to get my food and the quality wasn't negatively affected ... Wow One negative: The quick delivery was so unexpected that it gave me and the dog a heart attack when it arrived. Overall, top marks.

Always ordered from here and had top notch food and service although delivery times however, not so great. Tonight was terrible. Customer service especially. If you have an ordering system. Make sure it is up to standard. After being able early this evening, not long after 6 pm to book a delivery for half past 7, we had to telephone at 8.50 after seeing that our delivery was supposedly delivered at 8.30. Just to find out our food was still in the restaurant about to leave. Although the girl apologised (after being challenged on her initial response) she just couldn't understand or is that more accept and/or acknowledge that telling us our food should be around half past 9 was not acceptable, especially for us to be left waiting with no communication an hour after it had apparently been delivered which was actually 2 hours after we were expecting it. Poor show Papa Raj, customer service is key. Its great for you to be busy and surviving, but communication, communication, communication. A short wait is understandable but this evening was ridiculous. Absolutely poor show on your part tonight and reading through, it seems to be becoming a bit of a habit. I feel for the delivery drivers

The chapati and the poppadums were missing from My order and the onion bahgis and rice were cold

We are not from around here and just here for a holiday. We can honestly say it was one of the best Indian takeaway meals we have had for a while. Not greasy, tasted as it should. Okay, this place is a tad pricier than others but you get what you pay for.

Awful - 16 year old girls on counter taking grief from customers because their orders are ridiculously late. Feel sorry for them. Won’t order again as I’m waiting an hour in the take away every time. Shame as food is mostly good.

Love this Indian. Easily the best in PL9! I would really love to see a good selection of vegetable dishes on the menu as this is limited. I’ve enjoyed everything they’ve ever delivered and the delivery staff are always so fabulous!

Always great quality and very tasty

The food is always outstanding. No doubt about that. But it has become quite pricey now, which I guess is the norm everywhere. What let’s it down is the the fact they now charge for poppadoms (90p each), the yogurt sauce that was always complimentary & my biggest annoyance; you get a text saying 10-15% off. Then when you go to use it, not valid.

Excellent food, great price, speedy delivery

The food here is good but this is the second time in the past few months that an item has been left out of our order. It’s frustrating to get home and realise something is missing and it’s not practical to take hot food out of the bag in the restaurant or car to check.

Amazing service - our collection was missing a rice, they sent a driver out with it within 5 mins. The whole meal was delicious and service was top notch! First time trying and will definitely be back. Thank you!

Celebrating a birthday yesterday with a huge order. Went to collect it as the delivery time was long. When we got it back there were things missing and a wrong meal packed. Rang them up and they were brilliant and apologetic. The items mentioned were replaced by delivery within 10 minutes. The food was amazing so gets a good recommendation from us!!!! 🙏

Honestly the best Indian Takeaway I’ve ever had. We’ve had it for years and is quite far out for us and is even worth paying the £6 delivery fee every time. When I use another Indian takeaway when they are closed for whatever reason I’m always disappointed. They are delicious 😋

The food has really gone down hill for the price increase . I won't be ordering again which is sad we have enjoyed papa for many years but this was really disappointing
