Papa John's Pizza in Tendring

absolutely terrible, I ordered a xxl meat pizza with the spicy beef replaced with steak and no sauce on half the base as I'm allergic I received their large pizza with spicy beef and full sauce and when I called to let them know they gave me some shtik about it being health and safety not doing half and half so they put it over the entire base, when I had asked for no sauce on half, they kept saying well you asked for sauce so we put it on everywhere, wouldn't take and replace or refund and left me in tears with how angry he was, also repeatedly telling me they had left a voice message letting me know when there isn't any on my phone from them please go to family pizza instead I only chose here due to the 60% discount it is not worth it!!!

I went last week and the cashier was very nice and welcoming and didn't mind if we took our time.The pizza we had was made fresh to order and was really tasty would recommend because they have really good deals on right now 10/10 would go again.

went in there on Saturday night 9th September,we ordered a pizza we looked around and the place was very dirty as we had already paid we waited for it.when the girl bought it out the girl who gave us it was filthy dirty I don’t know how she can be behind the counter serving food,just looking at her she shouldn’t have been there.we ate some of our pizza because we was hungry,I wish we hadn’t we was both I’ll and had to drive home to London and had to keep stopping at services to go to the toilet.on Monday we was very sick and the doctor said it was food poisoning

Zero stars. AVOID !! Ordered large pizza and one side for dinner, by 4am I had 'the runs' and was vomiting. DON'T order from here. Go next door to the domino's.

Not many serving in there . Food cold not much on them Back door always open when I go in and that could be any time of day , one person on there phone did not notice we were there . Saw some flys around as well .

I've beeb using papa johns since they opened and i think they are brilliant, so it's about time i wrote a review, the staff are very friendly and polite and there pizza's are about as good as your going to get, so well done papa's gang keep up the good work 5 stars.

been to most pizza shops in clacton, most of them are ok. but i keep coming back to papa john's, they are definitely the best pizza in town, the staff are very friendly especially the girl called simone she should have a gold star for her efforts, keep up the good work guys, Chris.

I don't recommend the pizza, the dough is all spoiled, the ingredients are not good, not only is it cut ugly, it's not yet placed on the pizza, it's just thrown into a pile, it's not the pizza it used to be

The franchisee listens to customer feedback and ensures this Papa John's is well run and that the pizzas are to the standard you would expect. Delivery staff are exceptionally polite and this PJ's now delivers an above average PJ's experience. To be excellent requires consistency and I hope they can keep this standard up as it is one of my favourite places to order from.

I knew this place wouldn’t live up to the marketing! Utter junk! You’d be better of going to a Turkish kebab shop. Tried to speak with someone about the excessive delay & the person sounded like the worst dregs of clacton, he could barely string a sentence together.

Awful and Lazy service. Ordered £66 worth of pizza to the local cricket club for 11pm. Driver arrived at 10.35. Called me but didn't hear it as I wasn't expecting delivery 25 minutes earlier than I asked. I called him back with 7 minutes, but when I went outside he was nowhere to be seen.called the shop, who said they couldn't get hold of him and didn't know where he was. Hour later I got a call saying he "Tried" to deliver the pizza, but made to attempt to get out of his car and actually deliver to the door,instead just attempted 1 phone call to me. Shop said they would refund me, but despite 2 weeks going by, and multiple calls to them, they still haven't refunded the money. Having seen the other reviews, im not surprised by my experience at all, hopefully this costs them more than £66 they should have refunded. Avoid at all costs.

Did no enter as outside was filthy.Windows were dirty.was to worried about health to try.Would never use this place until they clean up.

Absolutely terrible service said my food was delivered at 10:52 and finally came at 11:24 it took nearly 2 hours overall to get here not happy at all the food is nearly stone cold!DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU WANT COLD FOOD!

Pretty terrible place in all honesty. Slow service, wrong pizza delivered they didn’t really want to deliver another one you could tell in their attitude, when the pizza finally arrived it was wrong again and cold so I won’t be returning again. I did ring back they said there was no issue and hung up, not what you expect from a chain.

Gave my pizza to someone else. 7.30pm on a Monday, so not busy. I had to threaten to call the police to get my money back. Simone the manager, wasn't answering her phone.

Awful customer service! Make an order online at 10:30pm all goes through. I ring up to enquire about the dietary requirements (lactose free cheese) they cut me off half way telling me they’re closed... they close at 11pm on google and their website takes orders still. I tell them I’ll pick up ASAP, she tells me no, it’s dead and they’re going home. After a bit of back and forth confusion she tells me she can deliver it to me. Okay great, house is only 2 mins drive away. Give her address, already paid online. Never turns up. Bunch of lazy liers. Take note Papa John’s HQ. This place is run by idiots.

Huge pizzas if you get the xxl no matter what size you get they are very tasty

I ordered through just eat, the food never came even though I got the confirmation text to say it was on the way to me. They literally hung up immediately when I tried to call n then just didn't answer again. They also never closed my just eat order on their tills so I couldn't even write a review or take any real action. I've worked somewhere with the just eat system before and I know that's what they did and I know it's on purpose as the just eat app on the tills beeps incredibly loudly until an orders been closed. It was literally calculated thievery and I'm not in a position to have people take advantage of me like that.The most upsetting experience I've ever had with a restaurant by far

Wandered in with the family and received such amazing service! This was our first visit to a Papa John and the overall impression left by this restaurant really did the franchise proud. The pizzas were fresh and hot and the staff were superb! A great place to visit!

So, staying away for work in Clacton-On-Sea, i decided to order Papa Johns, as it'd been a while. Ordering process was quick and easy, decided to customise too (here's the issue). When my order arrived, it had none of the customisations I had made; added ham and bacon to The Mexican. Still, a good pizza, just disappointed that monies were taken and my order had not been 100% fulfilled.

New to Papa Johns and was underneath the hotel, customer area was clear, easy to order the pizza and wss cheaper than expected, staff were friendly and pizza was made and baked quickly, it was utterly delicious would deffo use again

The crowning experience of my birthday. I was looking around for new places to order some food and thought of ordering a pizza. Trying the usual places I thought a new place would be good, I am glad I decided to order from this restaurant as they went above and beyond and did more than most others would not, they made a special effort to wish myself a happy birthday, they threw in the most tasty chocolate cookie dessert that I've ever had from any pizza joint let alone adding on the box 'Happy Birthday' for me to read for free and the price to pay for the rest of bundle was very acceptable for the high quality of the food, in closing my eventful day ended on higher note, If other restaurants put clients happiness before profit maybe they would be half as successful as this restaurant is. If you ever wish to order from a pizza place and you are in or around Clacton area, look no further, this is the place for you. Forget Dominoes. Forget Pizza Hut. Forget all the other pizza chains and look no further then Papa John's. The staff are really nice and efficient. The delivery driver did not make us wait long and was very pleasant. The best thing about Papa John's is the pizza with natural cheese. All fresh and very tasty. The price paid for this pizza, drink and cookies were less than what I paid anywhere else and they were much more tasty. If you are looking for the best pizza, look no further than this little gem. Thank me later ;)

Rubbish, spoiled our wedding Anniversary dinner, took long than stated, delivered to wrong address, reordering took to long , wife works nights so delivered after she had gone to work, spoiled our wedding Anniversary with no apology what so ever.

Always wanted to try papa Johns so we did, the delivery wasn't very fast but that's fine as I understand with it being a Saturday night, the delivery driver was polite. One of my items was missing, so I ring them and they said they will send some out, while waiting we tucked in, the pizza was really yummy, could do with more sauce but still was lush, the tandoori chicken was amazing and the cookies wow, they were so scrumptious. They are so generous with the amount of sides you get in a box but the reason for my low star is it's been over 2 hours when I rung about my missing item, so I rung then to ask why it hasn't been delivered, their excuse was it's been demanding with orders, no excuse at all. It's their fault they forgot my item not mine, so i should of been first priority. I was offered a refund on that missing item, hopefully I do as their word hasn't been great, 🤞 Good food but bad service, Papa John's you really need to sort your customer service out!!!

Tried a takeaway from our local Clacton-on-Sea branch for the first time. Absolutely amazing, arrived quickly, value for money and all arrived warm. Cinnamon Rolls gonna be my favourite, definitely order again

Would give zero stars if possible. Arrive very late, tracker said it had arrived when it hadn’t so for a good 15 mins we thought it had been delivered to someone else, girl on phone said we needed to wait longer was miserable. It came but they’d forgotten a dip and gave us the completely wrong drink - raspberry flavour Pepsi max no less. Eurgh.

Chef making pizza after wiping hands on dirty clothing. Staff looked stressed and miserable. Would look elsewhere. Domino pizza just a few doors along much better value anyway.

My son ordered and paid for a medium vegan gluten free (medical issues with gluten) pizza and got a small pizza with gluten. Store wouldnt replace or refund despite their mistake and said contact head office. My opinion stay well clear.

THIS IS THE WORST PAPA JOHNS EVER!!!! If I could give this 0 stars I would without second thought. I’m so upset my pizza didn’t arrive, waited all week for this to eat it with the footy on and they ruined my evening. Absolutely awful. I phoned and complained and said it wasn’t cooked and he told me it was fine. Well when you held up the pizza it fell through your fingers and you couldn’t even eat it. I’m not a liar and have better things to do with my time.

Veggie pizza centre no filling and no sauce hardly any cheese, other 2 pizzas cold and to be honest for £42 definitely not worth the price will stick to quality diner from now on

Food was missing items.. the rude girl on phone who calls herself the manager had no idea of customer service.. pizza was great.. shame about the missing items and the complete lack of customer service.. won't stay open for long with management like that.. after speaking to just eat I got full refund due to restaurant being in the wrong.. will never use again..

First ever order. Both BBQ pizzas without BBQ sauce and slightly warm. Bacon and cheesy chips cold. Garlic sauce like butter. Won't EVER using again!

We ordered for the first time at the Jackson Road store and was disappointed. The garlic sticks were not sticks there were a thick dough with a huge air bubble in the middle that had burnt. The toffee apple sticks also were thick dough and there was very little dressing on the top. Other than that the pizza was lovely and the cinnamon sharing desert was gorgeous. I would go back and try again to see whether the meal is the same again.

Teething issues at opening, but vastly improved since then. Not the quickest for delivery, but when they get it right you'll be hard pressed to find a pizza place that does a tastier pizza. Bravo on the vegan options too. About time the competitors caught up on that one!

Cold, chewy chicken poppas. Delivery took far too long. Pizza was warm and not very nice. I would 100% recommend Dominos next door until they hopefully get better trained. Edit: I had a nasty stomach ache soon after eating here, it wasn't until a friend told me he was ill after eating here that I made the connection. Even if the place is new, it shouldn't serve food that makes people sick.

Useless bunch of of C##ts, you would think only being open a week they would make sure they were bit more prepared...cant order online as they wont deliver around, never got any of the sides...and expect you to wait over a hour for delivery...cant see this place lasting long...shame as papa johns is normally really good

Absolute joke - was told 15 minutes but here I am an hour later still waiting for food... Should have expected nothing less from a clacton franchise.

Had it for the first time tonight "the works" large takeaway for £7.99. Would have been 5* but a bit too much tomato but still nice. A few teething problems In store as you would expect for a new store but all in all pretty good service and food.

Ordered from here yesterday with my other half. The food is delicious, arrived really fast and very hot! Highly recommended! Will definitely order from here again

I have just ordered papa johns for it to be delivered cold and the order was wrong I then rang them again to tell them it’s wrong they said we will be there ASAP so 40 minutes later it finally turns up it was vile the dough was thin as paper Flavourless topping I would not recommend papa johns. like the previous comment says dominos s***s all over this

Absolute farce , hour and a half for delivery , pizza sticks replaced with chicken wings which had already been ordered , items missing , pizza was like warm and not very nice , and the excuse “ the staff haven’t been trained , well if the staff are not trained don’t open the shop !!!!!! My recommendation go a couple of doors down and use domino’s, far superior ,TRAINED staff ,food delivered in a reasonable time and hot , never had a problem with them ,
