Papa John's Pizza in Middlesbrough

Lots of low scoring reviews but I can only go off my experience today I received a Nice full size pizza with plenty of toppings... It's a Half and half Special offer £12.99 inc stuffed crust. I got Fast service and a polite member of staff. Maybe they've had a change of management ? Job well done today !!

Please be careful when ordering online for delivery in case this also happens to you. Placed an order online and tracked it on the website it showed up as having been delivered but it hadn't, contacted the store only for them to lie through their teeth and say it had been delivered (we have doorbell footage provide it has not) and they did not offer to send the food out or refund when we told them this, now I'm having to wait a week for my complaint to be replied to and I don't even know whether I will receive a refund for this order. Please be careful when ordering for delivery in case this also happens to you.

We ordered a takeaway pizza for our office lunch. Text was sent to say driver was on way, and we could track. The driver arrived at the wrong place on site, tried to call him, got cut off, tried numerous times after and couldn't get in touch with them. Called Papa Johns Shop at Middlesbrough, no help what so ever, was informed that they couldn't contact the driver either, WHAT!!!, so we haven't received our order, have been told that I have to wait 4 - 7 days for a refund. What a whole load of crap.

Get it closed....hurry up company is losing money fast...of ya pop back to the USA.

This store has been going downhill for a while now. I ordered 2x pizzas and 1 drink at 18:10 and it arrived at 19:55. The drink was missing and the food was cold. One pizza was actually quite hard. Possibly from sitting on top of the oven too long. It’s just poor poor service. By the sounds of it, they don’t even have their own delivery drivers anymore. They use third party which is ridiculous. Nearly 2 hours for 2 pizzas and a drink for the drink to be missing. I won’t be in a hurry to order from here again.

The branch is understaffed with the few available staff being rude and untrained. Came in and I was told to leave because they had too many orders (no worries). I came the next day and the door was locked at open hours. I knocked and the same guy that told me to leave the previous day pretended like he didn't see or hear me.

Ordered food for delivery at 12.30 and i'm sitting here at 13.17 and they have just arrive COLD, they kept promising it in 5 mins and then hung up on me. I have clients waiting for the food and we are 40 mins late - disgusting behaviour! I'll provide an update as to how cold the pizzas are when they arrive as i'm expecting it to be terrible. Horrible service will never be using them again.

The store is supposed to close at 11PM and I went there at 10:40 and the manager is saying they have a policy to close 20 mins before then why would they lie that they close at 11 and the manager is a racist because I am an Indian he refused to do the order and threating me it's not India and something

If you want food that comes half cooked and takes half an hour from store to door than get in touch with papas... Maz who works here refuses to send out food that's cooked and warm and says you can get a refund?? If I wanted my money i wouldn't of bothered placing an order, I've had to record a phone call with this incompetent fool in order to send to head office. I would of been better taking a bite out of a frozen pizza not only would it of been quicker but it would've probably been more cooked. Never again will I order from papas due to the incompetence of this imbecile

Always spot on pizzas. Had the new pesto, chicken and mushroom one and it was class 👍 new chicken cheese starter things are nice as well.

Waited for almost 2hrs after ordering through the app and when we call and ask for the order telling lame excuses as app not working and to make their side safe they are mentioning as food already delivered in app When we call and check the status at that time they start preparing the order and will tell your order is in the oven

Order late for the 2nd time in a row!! More than 30 mins! Manager does not care!

Diabolical! Took the money, apparently did not have the order, were unable to produce the order yet wanted us to go to the store to have the order made? But we would have to pay again and the first order will be refunded. We were also hung up on twice as the store assistant did not have the answer and just kept saying come to store, systems broke, we cannot produce your order. Overall they could not care less. I would be very careful ordering with this store as there is little to no chance that you will get your pizza but they will without doubt take your money. The system only breaks when they have what they want, not when you have what you want. Hanging up because you don't know the answer? God only knows what they do when they're not sure how to make your food! Stay away!

Usually alright. Got my order completely wong one time around though. Ordered a Works and they gave me a soggy grease soaked pepperoni. Sometimes takes over an hour to arrive and the delivery guys sometimes fiddle the webtracker saying its already delivered when they are late. Couldn't really be bothered getting in touch over it. Getting something so basic wrong should go down as a stain on their reputation. Good job I don't have any allergies to anything. Messing up food orders could cost someone more than an inconvenience.

Absolutey rotten, its just a franchise and every corner that can be cut has been, had a pizza from papa John's Linthorpe Road when it first opened it was delicious. Ordered £35, worth of food, they sent me the wrong pizza, with the wrong stuffed crust, what i got was covered in pepperoni and grease, the pizza was swimming in grease of the mountain of pepperoni that i hadn't even ordered. It was also cold Rang the shop to complain asked for a refund, said they were sending the driver back for the food and my refund. He never turned up. I asked to speak to the manager, who conveniently wasn't in the shop, the lady I spoke to didn't appear to understand English very well. I'm still waiting for the shops manager to contact me. I contacted papa John's customer service directly after a few strongly worded emails they reluctantly sent me a code for a free pizza and not the refund i requested. Hastily i ordered my free pizza willing to give the place a second chance, but omg it was 🤮🤮🤮 disgusting. So bland it tasted like cardboard. For the price they charge you expect fresh tasty food and twice they didn't deliver me either of those things.. Avoid like the plague. Gigis next door still does the best pizzas in town. Save your self a fortune and a lot of disappointment. Will never use again. I've written this review a few weeks after ordering to give the shops manager a chance to rectify what they should have in the first place, but alas still no contact

Food came 35 minutes late and was freezing cold was very disappointing

yesterday i experienced an unpleasant situation with papa johns the pizza delivery man mistakenly delivered a pizza to my house i took it because 4 other people live in the same house (student house) no one from my house ordered it so i left the pizza and I waited for one of my neighbors to come and take it back. The pizza got delivered at 11 pm and by 1 am the people who ordered the pizza started banging on the door screaming what happened to their pizza and why i took it from them. The pizza wasn't even touched and their screams woke up everyone in my house. They were acting like animals and blaming me like it was my fault the restaurant delivered it to the wrong address

Yesterday, me and other household members experienced a very unpleasant situation related to the "papa jons" service. Before 11:00 pm, one of the drivers brought pizza to our house, because it is a student house, one of the household members picked up the pizza because she thought it was for one of the students. The person who picked up the pizza knocked on all the rooms and found that no one had ordered the pizza so it was left on the table waiting for the pizza delivery man to come back for it. After 1am in the night we heard a loud and aggressive knock on the door. The woman who arrived started screaming and wouldn't let anyone get a word in. The woman was very aggressive and vulgar. This person came with the driver, disturbed our peace and quiet at night. When one of our household members, afraid of an aggressive person, wanted to close the door, the woman held the door with her leg, but managed to close it. Through the closed door we heard screams and loud ridicule. It was a very unpleasant situation. Nobody ate this pizza, the pizza was on the table all the time. Unfortunately, only later did we see a small laber with the address. If we had seen it sooner, we would have taken the pizza to this address for sure.

Papa johns always our favourite pizza joint. Suitable prices and decent options to choose from or customise. This store location is a little inconvenient at times as in a busy area and often there is roadworks ongoing that blocks direct access.

Ordered two pizzas for 4 hungry kids waited ages after 90 mins I rang, no answer. Rang again no answer. Checked email tracking link didn’t work (the tip link did funny that) rang again finally got Through he said sorry we are having problems we will cancel and refund your order. I said why didn’t you ring? He replied we tried! Nope not a chance in hell will that one wash in the digital age mate no missed calls this end. Shocking go to dominos these guys haven’t a clue what they’re doing avoid

Papa John's not a bad place to get a pizza while I was in there waiting a few people complain there were to slow there was only one staff on severing and cooking that' was the only problem

Placed a £200 order at 11:30 for delivery at 12:30. At 12:19 on your tracker it was in the checking & cutting. At 12:50 I rang and was told they were running a bit behind but it was being sorted (so not checking & cutting then). At 13:15 I rang again & it was going to be 15-20 mins (it was on it's way). At 13:50, it was just being loaded in the delivery car (so it wasn't on its way). Finally arrived at 14:10 - over 2hrs after ordering. The food was warm enough to be eaten but certainly not hot and the special garlic sauce? Was liquid butter that had gone off and had about as much garlic in as a bowl of cornflakes. For the money that we spent, I was not at all happy. No apologies from the girl on the telephone; just one excuse after another. All in all not the best experience of Pappa Johns and one we probably won't be repeating. I know it's Christmas & everyone is busy but this was appalling service. I don't expect a reply to this message or an offer of compensation (please prove me wrong) which unfortunately, just reinforces my opinion of this company

Food arrived in a state and stone cold. Pizza was soaking wet. Got in touch and won't give me a refund been waiting weeks for the manager to be in or call me back but hasn't.

My first time having Papa John's, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was 50% off for spending over £15, and it was definitely one of the nicest pizzas I've ever had. The dough was nice and soft, which was a welcome change to the usual Domino's, which I find quite stiff and dry.

Food arrived cold, took 20 minutes to be able to get through to the store, once through they told me that I waited for the food to go cold before calling, all the food was low quality, tasteless and the cookie dough was burnt, the 6 cheese potato bites arrived with a sprinkle of cheese and certainly not 6 and were stuck to the bottom of the paper they were that cold, paid an extra £3 for stuffed crust just for them to forget it, disgusting customer service to match the disgusting food, waste of £35

Food took a long time to arrive . Contactless delivery was not in place as the driver tried to hand me the food. Food arrived hot , but topping so sparse might as well have been plain , double the toppings would still not be as much as dominoes etc

Unfortunately, another negative experience. I used to rave about the vegan options but this pizza was stone cold, the dough was very hard because it was cold and the dips I ordered were missing...again !! The extra olives I ordered would probably equate to 3-4 olives and at £1.30 extra...extremely poor value for money. Although there are many vegan options, they require attention or you're in danger of losing another valued customer. Please put it right !!! I'm giving 2 stars as the marmite scrolls were fine.

First timer for this pizza chain was overall a pretty good pizza, delivered fast. Unlike some other places it was evenly covered with topping and cheese. I would definitely use them again and potentially choose over another known chain.

Tried ringing multiple times but was declined.. Once answered the worker didn't even want to do my order Absoulte disgrace

Outstanding best place middlesbrough for a pizza

Students! Beware!! £6.99 Student pizza. I have had a £6.99 Student pizza but actually it was mostly bread. You won't get more than a small cup of cheese (they use a small cup of cheese for student pizza, less than one hand full of cheese). Also, they don't use normal topping, just very little. As you can see the pic, even they don't cover whole base of pizza. Please do not let this people cheating on you. I feel so disappointed. And I never ever go to any Papa John's shop in my life. Teesside university student, business school.

Had more bad experiences than good, if you want a papa johns go to Darlington it's far nicer or gi gi's next door. ordered pizzas from here and they had toppings what weren't meant to be on it and said it was green peppers when it was jalapeños and another time the pizza toppings tasted like processed products and fake instead of the fresh ingredients apparently used in papa johns

Sold me a pizza that had jallopinos on it when on menu were not supposed to be on phoned and was to to go in when passing I did I was made out to be a liar and was told in a patronising attitude what a pepper looked like of a snotty nose kid who is supposed to be the manager she made me a grown women of 52 like I was the child never going back got in touch with the company and no joy there either as it's only a franchise avoid at all costs staff rude and unhelpful

Me and my friends have tried Dominos and Pizza hut here but Papa Johns is far the best pizza in town you can really taste all the fresh ingredients so lush. The customer service is very good & professional too. They always have really good offers to if you call the store. Thanks Papa Johns 5*

Ordered pizza at 7 for delivery at 8.30 turned up 30 mins late onions on pizza that shouldn't been there pizzas where cold didn't send sauce that I ordered rang up to complain to be told nothing we can do about it paid nearly £30 to be let down when phoned offered 1 pizza for my troubles shocking !

What a Load of Garbage!,Hardly Any sauce,Hardly any Cheese (portion controled),Pretty close to the Worst Pizzas I've had,price Way to Expensive, delivery was the only thing good,I've Had Real Papa John's from the States,Stay Clear,Hold onto your money and go Right Next door to Gi-Gi's!
