Ordered pizza for delivery. Took ages. Phone twice for updates and told 15-20 minutes both times. Lied both times then said they only had one driver. In the end it took 1hr40mins. Asked for money back and they were very evasive so haven’t got it back yet. I will never buy from here again although pizzas were good when we eventually got them.

Me and my partner ordered from here. The pizza wasnt cooked enough. Phoned the restaurant and the lass was adimant it was cooked, all she kept saying was it goes on the belt for the oven so theres no human interference. The cheese wasnt even melted in the stuffed crust! Awful!

SO MUCH GREASE. Eaten Papa J’s for years but not sure what the deal is with this store. My garlic sticks leaked grease over EVERYTHING. Didn’t realise till I’d got home and put the pizzas down but my car is now covered in stinky garlic grease, so is my sofa Didn’t think to inspect every box before putting it down, opened the garlic bread to literally find a grease river. Food was delicious but the cost of fixing the mess it caused outweighs any benefit of the food. Absolutely fuming.

We ordered from here not long after they first opened many years ago and it was outstanding but it has gone down hill to the point That it is by far the worst pizza I have had from anywhere. I ordered 2 large pizzas and a cinipie and all we managed was a slice from each before binning the lot. The cinipie had barely any topping on and was nearly all on one side and absolutely no icing to speak of, when we asked about it they just told us they didn't have any icing available, no offer to return it. The pizza was absolutely foul, the BBQ chicken one tasted disgusting, under baked, oily and mushy and was thrown away after 1 bite, the Rose one was baked slightly better but was also disgusting and thrown away after a slice. The special garlic sauce tasted of butter which is bizarre as it is vegan friendly, there was no hint of garlic anywhere in the sauce. I will never ever order another pizza from this place again as long as I live, the inside of the restaurant was dirty and the pizza was just the same. Dominos isn't the best pizza but it runs rings around this place, like dining at the Ritz in comparison!!

Young lad in by himself tonight absolutely smashed it. Best papa johns we have had by far everything was amazing quality.

Ordered via just eat then got a phone call saying the delivery wouldn't be until an hour and a half if that. When asked the employee said the drivers don't get paid for just eat orders so your not priority. No food, £34.72 out of pocket and no manager to speak to. Appalling customer service first and last time using this place!!

Tonight around 6 pm, I ordered 4 pizzas in person and I tried to get any of the discounts written on the website and on the shop's walls, surprisingly, the girl (the manager) strongly refused without giving any rationale reason. I paid, and after a while another employee came and I asked him why cannot I take any of the offers (guess what?!) his answer was of course you can! So, I asked why she didn't gave me.. she gave me a refund after all! I can't think of any reason other than racism! At the end any frozen pizza is much better!!!

Ordered at 4:30pm for 6pm at 7pm decided to cancel the order without telling us they weren’t coming

Absolutely terrible delivery time. Ordered from here twice, took over an hour the first time and took longer an hour and a half the second time leading to it being cancelled and ruining my birthday. Customer service was even worse

My first and last experience of Papa Johns. Decided to give them a try and how disappointed was I? Apart from the very confusing and unclear pricing structure, (the guy in front of me got a larger pizza, side and drink for £3 less tha I paid?) The pizza itself was what I can only describe as non-descript. The base was very 'doughy' and the topping themselves had no real distinctive taste. I never expect too much when buying a carry out pizza but this was certainly one of ones I enjoyed the least. Won't be going back.

Poor service, incorrect order received- came back with correct order - pizza cold and little topping. Delivery driver lacked the common courtesy to apologise.... avoid at all costs.

Store does not pick up phone tried over 10 times then when wanted to enquire why my order is over an hour now .... rude staff with clear language difficulties when managed to talk to them, order took over 2 hours to arrive, cold, wrong size on one pizza... terrible service AVOID! ... stick to dominos

Usually go to Domino's around the corner, but wanted to give PJ a try. It was not very nice. The whole meal was just bland, and not enjoyable. The group I bought for thought so too. The Garlic sauce was the worst I have ever had, and so binned it. The wait time and service was good though, although I did order several hours in advance to collect on a Friday evening. Back to Domino's.

Stood waiting for my oder at least 15 minutes witch should of been cooked and put on heated shelf for when I arrived, staff ignored me until the manager came asked if I was picking up my oder. Shop was NOT the cleanest and the pizza's we're not the best.. But the Papa John's in Gateshead on Team Valley outstanding pizza's, staff and so clean in shop I know witch one will be getting my custom I live 15 miles from both Papa John's .

Ordered from Papa Johns tonight and the driver rang to tell me my order wasn’t coming because of an issue with desserts not being in stock so my order was going to be cancelled but, Ubereats said that the order was still active so I needed to speak to someone in the restaurant. When I spoke to a woman on the phones tonight she simply said have to go I’m too busy bye get in touch with Uber eats and was not helpful whatsoever and was really rude to myself and the driver. Will never be ordering from them again.

I've had two really good pizzas delivered to my door from here. The third time I ordered the delivery took so long the pizzas were cold, and there was cheese on my cheeseless pizza. When I called them the sent me new pizzas and this time they came piping hot. Very pleased, although we ended up eating quite late due to the delays.

Very very rude staff. Tried calling to ask about my order and claimed that my address was wrong so it couldn’t be delivered???? The person I spoke to even CUT THE PHONE on me. Im not even meant to give any star because that was absolute nonsense. I didn’t even get my refund at the end.

Shockingly bad customer service. Ordered a the driver showed up without the 2x drinks we ordered. Driver said he'd bring them back ASAP. 2 hours later and nothing. Rang them up to be told by a woman that "she's already told me they're far too busy to be sending extras out and they'll be free next time". After telling her she's never spoken to me before she still goes on to say that they're too busy to send 'extras' out. Last time I checked something I paid for as part of the order isn't an 'extra'. Either way they aren't sending them and i'm now out of pocket and out of drinks, hopeless.

After being enticed to order from Papa John’s for the first (and last) time by a student promotion offering a free medium pizza each for creating an account, my friends and I ordered 5 pizzas and two sides. They arrived after 1hr and 30 mins and were lukewarm upon arrival. The pizzas themselves were okay. However, they had made one of our party’s pizzas incorrectly, such that he could not eat it due to dietary requirements. So I decided to phone the restaurant in the hopes that they would be able to send a replacement, and was greeted by a rude member of staff - who’s demeanour changed the moment that we mentioned our address. I explained the issue and she bluntly told me that she couldn’t do anything about it because the pizzas were free, I argued that surely there is something they ought to do, it being their mistake. At this point she hung up. I phoned again and was hung up on again when I began to speak. I waited a few minutes before phoning again, and asked this time to speak to the manager to resolve the issue. The same rude member of staff told me that she wouldn’t do that and there was nothing she could do about the issue. At this point I gave up, but will not be ordering from their again. I was always under the impression that the customer was right, perhaps someone ought to teach Papa John’s staff this...

Staff attitude is just rude! Give me the wrong order hung up on me when I rang to complain! Lady hangs up the phone mid conversation extreme attitude problem! Ring back to the manager who is very belittling to women! Avoid at all cost! This establishment needs reporting!!

The staff are not very good, giggle behind customers back and seem to spend more time talking than fixing up orders. that was my experience while waiting in the store for my pizza.

First time ive ever used Papa Johns and I will be going back. The young lady on the phone who took my order was fantastic. Im isolating away from my children and wanted to send them a treat, she made sure both orders were sent out as soon as they had been made so I could have a facetime takeaway with my family. The quality of the food was exceptional as well as the prices. Then she told me it was 50% off the bill as I am NHS, which I was not expecting. Excellent Service right through. Thank you Papa Johns Gilesgate and thank you to the lovely girl who took my order. Youve definitely got a return customer!

Ordered at 7:49pm, estimated del was 8:10pm. It is now 21:20 and they've cancelled the order. THESE AND UBER EATS ARE THE WORST!! 1ST TIME USING UBER AND EE SRE HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!! NO CONTACT FOR PAPA J'S VIA UBER EITHER!! ZERO STARS!!!!

First time ordering from Papa John's and I wont be ordering from here again in a hurry. Ordered a vegan pizza and the staff used normal/non-vegan cheese.

Took over 2 hours to come. Had to call to have the order confirmed as conformation email didn’t come for over an hour after ordering. Then called back to check where it was and was told they had tried to deliver but could. The phone call was then ended, so I had to ring back so they could take a phone number so I could get the order. Not very apologetic afterwards.

Provides vegan and many other options, special offers, great staff, great pizza, great bar next door ... What more do you want.

Over rated, very over rated. It was ok, crust on my marmite stuffed crust had no marmite :'( Flavour was bland, the garlic sauce is thee most vile version of garlic sauce i have ever had the displeasure to eat. Dear god is so bad! Garlic bread was just plain weird. It arrived nice and hot tho and in decent time, and unlike dominos in durham actually got the order right. I give up trying to find flawless pizza in Durham. Might open my own shop at this rate theres so many let downs :|

Very rude staff. Don't deliver to areas as claim to busy??? This branch needs to sort it's staff out and teach them manners. Will be only ordering from our local pizza shop from now on.

Food quality was ok, but fast take away

Pre-ordered online, had to call to check on my late delivery only to be told that order would take another 1.5hrs for delivery. At least a call to let me know of the delay would have been much appreciated.

A consistently good branch of Papa John's, a Saturday night delivery whilst staying in the city was fast, hot and delicious. Worth taking advantage of the on-line offers, which can often produce good savings.

Amazing place and good food. It is quite expensive and it's a chew to figure out what is the best deal and that's annoying.

Please have someone answering the phones who has a good grasp of the English language !

Took advantage of the buy one get one free offer and could not fault the service or the quality of the pizzas. I've always favoured Domino's from the Durham City shop but lately both the customer service and the quality of the food has been abysmal. I know who'll be getting my custom from now on. !00% better value, quality and customer service.

Gathering of friends and family meant impromptu pizza all round. Ordered 4, 3 large and 1 medium. Side of scary ghost chilli wings. Delivered piping hot, perfect packed with toppings. Huge enough for left overs tomorrow and a friendly delivery service too. Nice work there team!

I've been a Papa John's devotee for some years, but standards seem to have slipped somewhat during my trips around the country during 2016. However, this certainly cannot be applied to the Durham store, during our recent hotel stay in the city. Ordered a couple of pizzas online, they were delivered bang on time, piping hot, and were absolutely spot on. Even the driver was very friendly and helpful. Has restored my faith in PJ's, worth another trip to Durham for the pizza alone!

We don't order many takeaway meals, but were late home and decided to try Papa John's. They estimated around 35 minutes for delivery and it was delivered on time by a polite young delivery man. However, whilst the pizza was edible it was barely warm. So too were the wedges which were undercooked. We only live just over a mile from the shop. Afraid we won't be rushing back. Most disappointing.

Never again ... waited 1.5 hours to be told oven was broken and no food coming ... they said they sent an email ... and I never received!!!!! ...they could have phoned!!!!!!!!! .. so now 9pm and nothing to eat for the family ... just ordered from the Blue House pizza shop where I know the food is great, cheaper and they deliver in 30 minutes!!!! Was told I would get a £10 discount on my next order .. but had to order on the phone so would have been £12 more as I was not ordering on line .. Guys .. your customer service is the worst I have come across!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .. gone to Dominos from now on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10yrs in the waiting to try PJ's. Ordered last night. Pizza was barely warm. Undercooked. Might take another 10 yrs to forget the experience. AVOID.
