Brilliant as always! Food is always very consistent at Toms and brilliant service from the staff. Ordered the blackened chicken and it’s a 10/10!

Amazing food. Extensive menu. Plenty of choice, everyone found something they wanted. Great kids menu. Adult menu also fantastic. We had a range of dinners, chicken and chorizo, burgers, enchiladas and steak. Every meal was excellent. Would very highly recommend.

I highly recommend this family-owned restaurant - delicious local fresh produce - plus a wonderful warm welcome and great service from the friendly owner and his diligent staff. I visited three times with my family during my two-week stay, it was that good. Well worth a visit!!

The staff were lovely bar who I'm assuming is the manager. Bit of an odd vibe off him, felt the need to place us, a couple clearly out for a nice dinner together, beside a really rowdy table of 8 or more adults and children, so we could barely hear ourselves think never mind have a conversation. We were given a rundown of the "sold out" menu items aka half the menu including the chunky chips?? The food quality has gone downhill massively. I really used to love coming here but I feel now there are better places around that do better food and better portion sizes. Husband got the crispy dumplings and I got the brie to starts. The brie wasn't cooked through and instead of it all pouring out when you cut into it, it instead had a jelly like consistency. I also don't understand why they would put a random apple and "chilli" (apparently) chutney with brie which tasted like mince pies rather than the traditional, and much tastier berry style compote. Husbands dumplings had absolutely no taste whatsoever. Main course I went for the Chicken Tenby with skinny garlic fries and husband got the chorizo chicken with sweet potato fries. Tenby was lovely, although there was a random bit of lettuce that had obviously fallen into my dish before they heated it, not a big deal but kinda gave me the ick. The sauce of the chorizo chicken was sooo runny and again, tasteless. They still have the big covid screen up at the till so when we went to pay, the girl kept talking to us and honestly we had absolutely no idea what she was saying. All in all I felt very deflated after this visit, having always had a good experience it seems theyve gone downhill and I'm not sure I'll be returning when I know I can go up to blue Chicago and get a guaranteed fab meal every time.

We hadnt booked but got a table & several tables already served & it got busy for a Monday night! We both chose the Steak special a good offer with a lovely bottle of red wine! The other had a starter of cream of vegetable soup with wheaten bread , delicious & a generous helping. The steaks were served with a peppercorn sauce which was amazing , onion rings in batter , rocket salad & a half tomato & we chose a portion of sweet potato fries , soo good & skinny fries ! My steak was a wee bit chewy but the other was fine a generous helping & the wine was brilliant … could have stayed longer but we had a narrow slot . We will be back again soon on our next visit to Bangor!

We've eaten here several times and always had great food and friendly service. The Ruby cocktail is also delicious!

Very disappointing as we arrived here for a birthday treat at 3.15pm to be told they were closed and would reopen at 4.30pm. We’ve dined here multiply times for as long as I care to remember and have never booked so didn’t book today. Very disappointed after traveling almost 25 miles in heavy rain, just for food. Unfortunately we couldn’t wait as we had other plans. When you google the business it plainly states open 12 - 9.30pm so this is very misleading so just want to warm others as it was a complete waste of time for us today.

I took my partner here for her birthday dinner as a result of recommendations from clients at work. Wish I had ignored them. My partner asked for her steak medium well done. It was served pink. We sent it back and when it was brought back again it appeared to be correct but after cutting through the steak it was still pink. So we decided to leave. To be fair My partner's main course was taken off the bill but the night was still ruined. We will not be returning.

Food was good but the filthy glasses let them down. Lipstick marks on all the water glasses provided on the table. Something as easy as a clean glass shouldn’t be so hard to mess up. Restaurant was nearly empty yet our table wasn’t cleared & we paid our bill while the plates sat on the table. Waitress also didn’t check on us after we got our meal. Will not rush back unfortunately

Havent been to Toms since 2019. Was then Papa Joes. So glad we returned. First thing we all noticed was the ambience. Very cosy and we loved the new look. Food was excellent and good portions. Very well priced also. The lady who looked after us (Hilary)was very attentive. We all said we wld definitely return.

We visited Tom’s last night for a friends birthday and for some of us it was our first time here. From the minute we arrived until we left the staff were all so lovely, friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We all went for starters, main course and dessert. Needed rolled out of the place! Food was beautiful and they were very good with gluten free. We had left a birthday cake in for our friend and the staff came out all singing happy birthday which was brilliant craic! Will definitely be back and will be recommending. Great Friday night had in Tom’s.

Went for dinner with friends last week and it was gorgeous. Lovely atmosphere, food delicious and friendly staff, would very much recommend. Papa Joe's was my favourite restaurant and I was sad to see it close BUT Tom's still does some of their dishes and I was very very happy that the same glorious standard of food has been maintained; maybe even better than before! Called in early on a Sunday evening, hadn’t booked but no issue. Gorgeous 3 course meal, everything very tasty (prawns, Brie, steaks, sticky toffee pudding & choc cake). Service excellent. Made to feel very welcome. It got busy very quickly with what seemed like regulars who had booked tables & were rebooking on their way out too. Will definitely be back.

We frequent Toms regularly when in Bangor. Its our go to spot for dinner. We always return because the food is consistently good, its delightfully tasty and a good varied menu of good proper food. Halloumi, Breaded Mushrooms, Crispy Chicken, Tuscan Salmon and Steak are our go to, and they are all in their own right wonderful however i want to talk about the Autumn special menu i had this weekend. To start i had squid, chorizo and potato fritters with curried mayo. I was expecting a croquette style fritter but it was grated potato mixed with squid and chorizo fried golden, truly a wonderfully light, delicious and balanced starter, one i would love to see on the main menu Then i had Roast Pork Fillet with greens, gratin potato, roasted apple puree and cider sauce. This was a triumph. The pork was cooked exceptionally well, just pink, moist and highly seasoned, the greens were pak choi and aspargus, again treated with the utmost care, well cooked, well seasoned and just truly delicious, the gratin was creamy, cheesy and crisp, personally i prefer more garlic in a gratin but still it was lovely. The apple puree paired perfectly and the cider sauce while made well, reduced and intense, there wasnt quite enough but overall it was a plate of exceptional cooking. This is where Tom's sets itself apart for me. Any restuarant can write a great menu, but only the best can deliver what they write. There was a talented chef cooking my dinner on Saturday, as is there always. The food is always treated with care, seasoned well and carefully considered. Truly an exceptional effort. Of course the staff match the food, friendly, inviting, and attentive. We are always welcomed warmly and it is for all those reasons we will return time and time again.

Tom’s rapidly became our favourite place for lunch, and we really missed our regular visits during lockdown. Friendly and efficient staff, good food, no problems catering for dietary requirements, vegetarian and vegan options and a good wine list. What more could you want? So glad to see them open again.

Out with some friends for a bite to eat. First time at Tom's. Very busy when we arrived, but the table had pre- booked. The menu was a Cajun/Creole style, good range of choices. Myself and four friends had dinner here on 18th August. Meal was superb, and so pleased to see hand sanitizer just inside the door and waiting staff all wearing visors. Tables well spaced out, unlike many restaurants in the local area who seem to forget we are in the middle of a health pandemic! Couldn't have been better. Would definitely recommend.

We used to like Toms.On Tuesday it crashed and burned.I quietly asked for them to remove mushrooms from the dish i'd ordered - which didn't mention mushrooms on the menu.The waiter took the plate and said he'd have a fresh one made - not what i asked for.The manager returned with the dish and said they were far too busy to be cooking another. COVID 19 50% off!Sister and I went here today for lunch. Just about got squeezed in. You must book while this “eat out to help out” is active! So my sis had Brie and 1/2 rack of ribs, I had the Chicken strips with the peanut sauce . So yummy!!! Service was quick , staff are very friendly. Now the restaurant itself has been adapted for our current situation with the pandemic . They have hand sanitisers at the entry. All staff wearing proper face masks and all tables well spaced with plastic screens in between tables. We will be back!

Had a meal for three on Monday 4 August. So impressed we booked again for the Tuesday night. The whole experience was outstanding.Would thoroughly recommend this place and will definitely return the next time we're in Bangor. Why this restaurant is not rated in the top 5, I will never know.

With regulations easing and a night out with partner and some friends we instantly picked Tom's Bangor!The service was brilliant from start to finish - and the food, as good as it always is!The social distancing measures would pose a massive challenge to any restaurant however Tom's are handling it all brilliantly and to us as customers, with total ease (i'm sure it's a lot harder). Reviews live up to expectation :-) Afternoon lunch with friends. I looked at advisor for somewhere NEW to eat. This place had very good reviews and iv not been here before. Service was brilliant. Gentleman met me on the way in and I had to wait for my two friends but he promptly seated me and I got a drink while waiting. Friends arrived and the service to them was second to none. Two of us ordered chicken goujons and another a burger. My chicken was something very different. The sauce was a peanut butter chill dip! It was delicious ! The layout of the restaurant and the decor makes the lunch a comfortable one. Definitely be back! Thanks

As a party of 8 we had a lovely evening out for a catch up. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The service was wonderful as was the food. There was a wide range to choose from and we were all pleased with what we had ordered.Would recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

We visited Tom's last night as a group of two couples. The food was incredible! First of all, they have an excellent choice of gluten free and vegan, so all needs catered for. I had the gluten free fish and chips which was outstanding and the best that I've ever had. All of my companions enjoyed their food so much. Also the wine and service was really good and we felt really well looked after from start to finish. We'll definitely be back asap - Tom's restaurant is a real gem!

Visited Toms Loft on Sunday afternoon with my friend, the staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was divine, very good atmosphere and the food was reasonably priced, will definitely be back.

Excellent food well presented, friendly and welcoming staff very reasonable prices. Being roughly 2-300 yards from the Train/bus station it's easy for us to leave our car at home making it an even more attractive venue.

We went for dinner midweek so maybe it wasn’t their fault that the place was virtually empty and lacking in atmosphere. The food was somewhat lacking too. I had the prawns for starters and while the service was quick and the staff pleasant, the portion was very disappointingly small. My chicken main was dry and hard to swallow and was unfinished. My wife’s lasagne was a bit on the bland side and the desert warm but not hot

The Christmas Fayre is out and a spectacular addition to the normal high calibre Menu. The excellent food, superbly cooked to perfection, is promptly served in a friendly, and totally professional way, with finesse, efficiency, elegance and charm by superb hosts and fabulously accommodating staff. A gem of a location, excellent value, and the reward is a memorable and enjoyable evening. Family & Friends, large groups and couples all benefit from this Superb venue. Went there yesterday after the remembrance parade. We was the first in the place and it was amazing. There menu gets better and better with more gluten free or adaptable meals than ever. It was just what we all needed after getting cold fingers and toes

After a coastal walk from Helen's Bay to Bangor, we were looking for a decent lunch and Tom's certainly came up trumps. My wife had soup, followed by a poached pear and pecan salad, with a side order of sweet potato frites. I went for the halloumi cheese frites as a starter and roast fillet of seabass as a main. Water and a carafe of excellent sauvignon blanc were our drinks. Food and wine were both delicious and we can't wait to come back

We were given a voucher for 2 main courses for the price of 1. The choices on the menu were excellent. The food was served piping hot and quickly as we booked around 5pm. Food was great. Thank you to Tom's!!

I took my seven year old daughter here tonight. The ambience was nice and the food was also nice. However the sevice was great. we have to give a special mention to stephanie who won my little girl over and I left to giggles and "daddy can we come here next time she was nice" just that little bit extra and a real asset to this restaurant.

We arrived in Bangor and found a leaflet advertising Tom's and so we checked online and found it had a large selection of gluten-free options.

My boyfriend and I have been here 3 times and will continue to go back. Firstly, the staff are really welcoming and friendly; we have never had an average meal here; and it serves the best Sauvingnon Blanc I have ever tasted.

Great meal here and lovely friendly staff. Happy to accommodate children who are fussy eaters. Really nice roast dinner.

First time in Tom's since it changed from Papa Joes.

This was an unbooked visit, and, although the restaurant was busy, staff readily accommodated our party of seven for dinner. The menu choice is extensive, and the food was absolutely mouth-watering. Staff were happy to make alterations for people with dietary restrictions. We chatted to the friendly owner, who explained that Tom was his father, and he helped us to identify the dozens of men whose photographs adorn the walls. Those men are united by one common attribute - they are / were all named Tom. Tom identification - a novel party game to further enhance our visit.

Very nicely decorated and extremely efficient service. We got a table on Saturday night despite not having a booking, we were lucky as the place filled up with an obviously regular crowd. Good atmosphere and delicious food with a modern twist. The chicken on flatbread was delicious and my partner's chorizo chicken went down a treat too. Was interesting to hear from the owner that it's named after his dad who owned the Skandia, many years ago. I remember going there as a child, very nostalgic. Definitely keeping up the tradition of good food. Well done.

My friend and I had dinner here on a recommendation. It was brilliant. Not stuffy as some eateries seem to be these days. The staff were chatty and friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed. And the food? Wow!

Entered on a Thursday evening to a completely empty restaurant. Was told by one waitress to sit anywhere. After having sat at the table with menus, another member of staff, who absolutely stank of stale cigarette smoke came over and told us to move. There was no one else in the restaurant and no reserved signs anywhere. Extremely poor attitude. Shortly after this, another member of staff came into the restaurant with a bicycle and proceeded to lift it over my head, rather than park it outside. I've never seen the like.?! When the food came (after a half an hour, despite being the only people there at that point) the plates were just thrown together, tomato sauce all smeared around the side of one, and pepper sauce dripping off the other. They really did not want us there it seems! No effort put into presentation, very rude staff, who really need a few tips on etiquette and cleanliness-- seriously,brush your teeth and change your outfit from the night before coming to work, the smell of smoke could knock a person out!

Went there with my sisters - 6 of us in all to celebrate one of the girls’ birthdays. Don’t think it’s under new management but could be. The decor is different and so are the staff - at least from the last time I was there. Menu was good and we had enough time to make our choices, though I did check it out before we went.

We had a lovely experience here, I was with an old school friend who I only get to meet up with once or twice a year and I had my little 7 month old baby with me.. we were late getting out and had planned the Jamaica inn but they said we were too late as they stopped serving in 20 mins and they had no buggy access so we went for a drive and just happened upon Toms.

This diner always looks so pretty and inviting from the outside. So a friend that eats there regularly invited me. We had a quiet table near the back. The service was efficient and friendly. Lots of chicken choices on menu (goujons and wraps) etc. Some salads too. Medium sized portions. Desserts were nice sized too. Reasonably priced. Great for a quick lunch.

Last Sunday we went for dinner, never been before so decided to give it a go.....well. I would presume the man is the owner as he’s wearing his own clothes, he seemed to either be very unhappy or have no enthusiasm for his job.

Me and my GF arrived tonight as a couple we were seated and waited 15 minutes for our orders to be taken. When they were eventually taken the woman came back 10 minutes later saying that our order had never been processed and she then had to re-take our orders again.. Finally when this blonde haired woman with glasses had taken our order, we were then left waiting for an hour for our food to arrive only for my order to come out incorrectly. The kind woman offered to replace the order again but by that stage I was far too hungry and decided to eat. Me and my GF then wanted to order a dessert when our meals were finished so we then had to wait a further 10 minutes to be approached by the same woman again, she gave us the menu then disappeared. We gave it another 5 minutes and me and my GF decided to leave as we had spent enough time waiting on their service in the restaurant. Ridiculous , if you are a couple don’t dine in this restaurant as you will be forgotten about in a matter of minutes a shame really because it Toms who are losing their customers.

Great dinner and service as always. The update of the decor is lovely and the staff are fabuous as they always are. This is a great resturant and nothing is ever to much for them whether a large party or a small one. I highly reccommed it.

This restaurant is now called Toms Dining rooms, went with friends recently for lunch and have to say was disappointed with the overall place. Two of us had the same dish and was very nice (beef enchilada) one of the parties chicken breast was tiny, old favourites dishes are mostly of the menu including the much loved Louisiana mash. Probably won’t be back for a while.

We usually go here as a treat when a family member has a birthday. Food is good. Customer service is good and staff always pleasant. Never had a bad experience at Papa Joe's.

Some of the staff are still the same and still friendly but the menu and food doesn’t have the same appeal. We had fish & chips, which was literally just that - no peas or salad or garnish with it. Our daughter was disappointed that the Louisiana mash is off the menu now. On the plus side, the new decor has been done well and even on a Monday night the place is still buzzing.

Visited this restaurant for work evening meal . After hearing good reports was very disappointed, my food was not hot and very mushy , could not distinguish and really flavours or textures . Poor value for money .
