The Groomsport Inn in North Down

We decided to call as we had not been in for about 30 years and were very pleasantly surprised. Although we only called for a drink the place was buzzing. The staff were polite, helpful and very friendly. On checking the menu it seemed to cater for everyone. Large dining area at the rear. Will definitely call again.

Lovely lunch. The views are fantastic.

Not very dog friendly when having lunch outside ,meal was served,rain came on and you were not aloud to bring dog in. Handed an umbrella by a member of staff to stay dry while eating a meal in the rain. If they want to be dog friendly need to consider Northern Ireland weather

We called in for a late lunch, in need of refreshment after a long walk. I ordered soup and my partner, the chicken burger and we both had coffee. Our coffees arrived first, the cups were only half full and a good portion of mine had been sloshed into the saucer. My soup, when it arrived tasted and looked like it had come from a tin. It was accompanied by a half slice of wheaten bread that was frozen in the middle. My partner was disappointed by the size of his meal that came with a few chips in a small basket. We felt the cost - £25 was not reflected in either the quality or quantity of the food we were served.

Family from London and Australia over visiting family in groomsport and Bangor, had a great couple of evenings having a drink and a meal. Service was very good atmosphere was relaxed and very friendly, the food was excellent, loved the sea bass, and the Balti curry was very good, even my 2 year old granddaughter loved it. Hope to be back soon.

Took my father in for a couple of pints and a coffee.... very nice overall.

Absolute shame about the staff went in at twenty minutes to 11 bar man Gordy stated that the till had already been done. And wouldn't serve. However he stayed until eleven fifty. Most probably to justify his wages. I have video proof of time I entered and time he clocks out.

Excellent wee bar and restaurant and food was amazing. Highly recommend the Sunday roast and the Scampi with chips. Restaurant is also pet friendly, we were able to sit out on the upstairs balcony with our dogs. Will definitely be back.

Staff once again were very pleasant and polite as was the manager. Sat outside with lovely views of the harbour and beyond. Only in for hot drinks this time and my partners coffee was very nice but my pot of tea was anything but. It was obviously not English tea and impossible to describe the taste other than to say it was, without doubt, the worst tea I have ever tasted. So bad in fact that after 2 or 3 sips I fed it to the plants!!!!!!!!!! Anyway drank the milk instead which was fine.

This pub plays host live music and quizzes. The menu is small however, focuses on quality ingredients, the service suprisingly quick. The toilets were clean. Beer garden to the rear.

Good pub, part of a chain. Nice restaurant, an adjunct to the bar. Outside area for drinks and smoking. Busy on match days.

This beautiful pub and restaurant is an absolute find, so much so we had our wedding reception here. The location overlooking the most beautiful little harbour with stunning views from an outside deck area is well worth visiting for this alone however the main reason to go is the food it is exceptional, I have worked in 5* restaurants and hotels and can safely say this place is second to none, just wonderful. The staff are amazing, nothing is a bother whatever you want that's available to them they will get for you. Paul the manager went above and beyond for us on our wedding day and prior to it, anything we wanted he sourced for us. If you are looking for an absolute hidden gem off the beaten track head to this wonderful little picturesque pub / restaurant for excellent value for money, exceptional food and service also atmosphere then you're on to a winner here. We cannot wait to go back soon.

We had our wedding reception here in this outstanding pub / restaurant 22nd April 2024. We travelled from England where we live. My family live in NI but i never knew about this wonderful place The Groomsport Inn, it was exceptional in every aspect from the impeccable service provided to the superb food on our day we couldn't have wished for any better. This hidden gem off the beaten track is an absolute find when you come across it, it offers so much in such an idyllic setting, the most spectacular scenery from the glass surrounded deck area that sits in front of a log burning fire in the conservatory which looks out to the beautiful harbour and Belfast Loch beyond, it completely stands out on the breathtaking views alone. If you are travelling through or staying nearby get yourself some amazing food with great service in a beautiful location that's value for money and even the live music that often plays you really won't find better around. So very highly recommended. We'll be back soon to see you all Paul and his team at The Groomsport Inn.

Booked for Sunday lunch as heard excellent reports from friends who visit here frequently. Went in to find 2 lovely glowing fires which was lovely on such a horrible day. Had our order taken quickly and food served promptly. I asked waitress if I could change a meal for chicken stack with pepper sauce. Was not a problem. Wld recommend this bar for good food and service.

Love this place, cosy pub plus good food. Very few places left like this that feel homely and have retained the character of the place.

Did not eat but loved the pub atmosphere, beautiful layout and village homely welcome. Not many places like this left. Staff professional and friendly, nothing was a problem. Looking forward to my next visit.

Called here yesterday for lunch after picking the keys up for an apartment we are staying in for the the next week. Lovely welcoming pub and staff. Food was lovely would recommend the burger. First time staying in the area as we normally stay every new year in Bangor but we have been through Groomsport before and said it would be nice to stay here so here we are

We had a lovely meal here, attentive staff, great views if you sit up at the back. They had a log burner and a good Christmas feel. We enjoyed it here, food really was excellent.

Fantastic inn, staff are top class and the food is fantastic . The village would be lost without the inn and All their staff . If ever visiting groomsport make sure the inn is on your todo list

Was down for an overnight stay in a Airbnb.went for food. Fish n chip's to die for and the local punters and bar staff where all diamond's

Excellent bar. Well run. Great staff. Good food. 2 log burners keep it cosy in winter months. Good Guinness. The chef is to be highly commended. The Favourites Platter was excellent, and our vegetarian wants them to know they nailed the Halloumi Wrap better than anywhere in London. Highly recommended.

This is definitely a hidden gem in North Down. Reasonably priced high quality food with a great view. What’s not to like? Always a great atmosphere as well

Quick stop for a few pints while walking the coast path , nice selection of beers , friendly staff , great smell of food from the kitchen was tempting.

Visited here on a Wednesday in September. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere as well. There was a quiz going on, which we didn’t participate in, but we will in the future My partner had the Beef & Bird burger, whilst I had the Seafood Platter. Extremely good quality, the seafood was extremely fresh. Really enjoyable dinner and can’t wait to return 5***** highly recommend

Lovely wee restaurant, 2 minute walk from the parking lot. Walk in through the entrance door and it's a pub atmosphere, but past that it's a restaurant setting. Has beautiful lovely tables beside the window that looks out on the sea. Has tables outside for sunny days. Food is very delicious. The chicken stack is probably the best in northern Ireland!! Highly recommend it. 🤤👍 overall good place and has live sport to with music.

Terrible over priced food, staff with no customer service and £5 for a pint of soft drink. Avoid Avoid Avoid

Staff and service was good the food however was appalling ordered brie x4 small squares of rubberized offering arrived side salad dry slither of dressing lumps of cranberry the chips I ordered where meant to be triple cooked I believe chips arrived white in colour and hard on the outside I didnt complain as my partner gets too embarrassed his meal he said was for the price appalling the pub in general looked as if it had not been properly cleaned marks on table dust everywhere . The chef must of been off today £50 not well spent I feel for the staff 😕 having to serve such miserable offerings.

Took my wife here today for an anniversary celebration. We were impressed with how quickly they took our order and brought our food - it’s never nice to be waiting when you’re hungry!! Food was delicious and portions were quite generous. Staff were friendly too. Hope to be back in the not too distant future.

Awful, very unfriendly staff, food was only warm. The only thing enjoyable with the food was the chunky chips. Ordered a plain chicken tenders with skinny fries, it arrived covered in a sauce! We won't be back.

Went in to what used to be a busy wee local pub at 11:50 on a Saturday night to find less than 6 people in, and we were greeted with "last orders have been called". We managed to negotiate a round of pints, but no more. Very disappointed

Lovely pub,great service and excellent food

Just dropped in for a drink after a walk along the beach and really enjoyed it! There is great balcony out the back with a view of the sea which was an ideal spot to enjoy a cold drink. Service excellent, staff friendly and although we couldn't stay for a meal due to previous commitments, the food being served looked delicious. Next time we will definitely have a meal there! A lovely place to visit.

Very pleasant pub/restaurant in a lovely little village. Nice atmosphere and very pleasant staff. Meal was very nice indeed and extremely well presented. We both opted for the 'The Inns Favourites' which comprised baby BBQ Ribs, Chicken Tenders, Garlic Bread amongst other things. Overall well worth another visit. My one and only complaint was that it is a tad expensive.

A nice local pub with local entertainment and near the sea

This wee pub is a gem. Our local. Fabulous food. So tasty. I'd rather come here everytime than a big restaurant! The atmosphere is always inviting and friendly. They could do more with the upstairs though (in my opinion) as downstairs is always busy.

Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Prices are very very reasonable and the atmosphere is very cosy (especially in the winter months)

I would have no reason not to give 5 stars- not been here for sometine - called around. 6 39. Sunday - Gteat atmosphere at the smakl bar with locals and very friebdly management and staff - Seated up in the raized dining area where a large log burnet was blazing - i wont you actual food ordere exceot to say that what we got was excellent - if your iiover hungry the startes are well large enough - AsAre meal arrived live solo musician was excellent - the young lady attending to us but both helpful and attentive. It was an unplanned visit that has justified a further return when i will partake of a nice steak. EXCELLENT

First time back here in a few years and very pleasantly surprised. Genuinely friendly staff offering great service. Plenty of seating. 2 stoves warming the place very nicely. We decided to stay and eat and very glad we did. The vegan had the halloumi and I have the beef and bird combo. Both very good. Washed it down with hot ports and some very decent Guinness. This is how to run a pub. Well done to all. Highly recommended.

I have eaten there a couple of times, and the food was good. There is an area with TVs and an upper dining area a bit quieter. There is also an outdoor terrace which is nice when it is warm. As in most Northern Ireland pubs, unfortunately, there is no draught beer, so this is not unusual.

Really nice country pub. View from the terrace is epic. Prices are pretty reasonable and a decent choice. Has sports on TV and runs a weekly quiz too

Excellent pub serving delicious food and well kept beers. The menu is varied and covers a wide range of options, judging by our choices the kitchen team really know their onions We were only in the area for a couple of days and really enjoyed our evening meal here. Lovely wee place, we had a bite to eat and a drink then went for a walk along the beach and returned for a second pint. Bar staff were really friendly and the food was nice as well.

Stopped on a whim for a drink and ended up having lunch. The staff were simply amazing and the food was excellent. Great view sitting on the terrace beer garden. Would highly recommend this venue .

Good bar. Great music today. Food good. BUT I know it's a sports TV bar BUT to have live music and TV screen switched on right above a singer is diabolical, so rude. Absolutely disgusts me
