You really need to get your act together Ordering my take away was an experience on its own! Been coming here for decades on and off. Haven't been since the refurbishment. Decor unquestionably better, but at the sacrifice of customer service. Barman too busy to take my order and sundry others wandering around. Eventually took my order, though I did have to repeat it three times before the gentleman understood. 28 minutes later it arrived, although the man giving it to me told me totally different contents to what I ordered, eventually got it sorted. Got the food home, onion bhaji was massively overcooked solid and inedible. The main dish, a mix of various meats was ok with a plain naan. Toilets clean if a little compact. You need to sort customer service that you have lost and Bhaji cookery!

Not had a meal from Panahar for some time. We had friends over from France and had a takeaway on Friday night, we found the food to be hot when delivered, it was very tasty with lovely flavours, probably the best Indian takeaway we've had for a long time. It wasn't the cheapest, but was definitely worth it and based on that meal would certainly recommend

although i haven`t been there for a while, i used to be a regular, and from what i remember about going there, there very friendly and helpful, and the foods out of this world for taste and quality, you can get a not very nice chinese and its usually expensive for what it is, but i`ve never had a bad meal or bad experience from this truly wonderful indian, you don`t usually have to wait too long for you food, and even if only getting a biryani its really tasty and you can just about manage to eat it all, there coconut delight ice cream is divine, and there lobster currys are really worth going there just for them, and sometimes they used to give me a free drink while waiting, and give me extra food in my takeaway bad, and spend the time to talk to me, if i`ve got any complaints it`s that there food is really too nice, and you just can`t get enough of it, i usually got something mild, but the one time when i did make a mistake and get a madras, although as you can expect it was a bit hot, and i was not used to these level of heat, it was probably the nicest curry i`ve ever had there, i really can`t fault them, on there excellent food, and incredible service.

We are frequent visitors to this restaurant, where we always receive a warm welcome. Run by the same family for many years, usually Father and Son working. Food is excellent, no matter what you decide to have. they will even tailor the food for you especially if you do not want it too hot. Cannot speak highly enough about his restaurant. I would highly recommend a visit. Weekends can be quite busy, so may be an idea to make a reservation.

As always, we were welcomed warmly with handshakes and kisses, for my husband's birthday dinner. The service and food were excellent, particularly my aloo chatt starter, delicately flavoured and just the right side of spicy. The pistachio and almond kulfi was the biggest I have had in a restaurant and delicious. The only negative point was the yoghurt dip with the poppadums, which was flavourless. We use this restaurant about once a year and we are never let down there.

Well what can I say about this little hidden gem, recently visited the area to see some old friends who are not usually Indian food lovers, after much deliberation we decided to pop down to this restaurant as despite some of the recent reviews we thought we would give it a try ourselves, upon entry we were greeted my the young manager who I must say was brilliant from start to finish, made us feel comfortable and truly gave us magnificent evening with 5 * service. The food was amazing as we were recommended the special dishes from their exclusive menu, yes the restaurant is very traditional in its appearance but it's refreshing to see an establishment more concerned about the food they produce rather then flashing lights! I can truly see why this buisness has been around for nearly 30 years, I have tried all the other Indian restaurants in the area since then but I must admit This is one I will definitely be returning too!

Decided to visit this restaurant that we have used in the past and has been good previously. Although not terrible I was not actually impressed enough to go there again as there is a wide choice of good "Indian" restaurants locally. We started with poppadoms which were tasteless, and only the chutney came up to muster. Main courses included a "Tropical Balti" (mixed meats in a Balti style) Lamb Bunah. Taka Dall was a side dish - all of which were just |"OK" the dall was particularly lacking in flavour. The service was lacklustre to say the least. the waiter whilst not actually surly, did not appear to want to be there and spent a lot of his time on his personal mobile. I had to really insist hard to get an itemised bill to take away as the waiter would not let me have the one he presented at the table - he then had to hand write a separate one for me to take away. (I shouldn't have bothered one of the items is unreadable) The only time we got a smile was on leaving when the owner (or manager) escorted us to the door on leaving. We recognised him - he has given us good service in the past, but only appeared as we were leaving. Over all I would say it is just adequate but not remarkable in any way. Given the wide choice of excellent restaurants of this type in Thurrock It will be a while before we try this one again .

We went to panahar for an evening meal and had a very tasty meal. The chicken tikka starter is awesome then I had korma and bombay potatoes which were just as good. The only thing that stopped a 5 star was the cheese naan which was just grated cheese on top of a regular naan. Very pleasant waiter that served us quickly. The decor is old school and could do with a bit of modernisation. Overall very tasty food is what counts and panahar did a good job.

We've eaten here a few times. If it's busy there can be a long wait, sometimes over an hour. The takeaway service is much better, although I'd recommend collecting over having it delivered. Their driver is a part time electrician & tried to talk his way into doing some jobs around our home & then ripped us off for just coming to look at an electrical problem. The food is normally very good, but we had some weirdly cooked onion bhaji's last time that were like dumplings gone wrong. The chicken Tikka Dhansak is always excellent

When you first walk into the Panahar it feels like entering a 1970s time warp which may well be the last time it was decorated. Having said that the food is excellent and the service extremely friendly. The Panahar has been in Stanford for as long as I can remember and I've only recently started eating there, I recommended it to my father and it's now the only Curry House in the area he will go to. I Highly recommended the superb Tawa Chicken, while Dad is addicted to the Lamb Chop Bhuna. Also it needs to be commended on the complimentary drink with the bill actually tasting like Brandy rather than brandy flavoured water like some resturants in the area.

I ordered 3 meals, 3 rice, 3 naans. It came to around £34. It arrived in good time but when we unpacked the food the bottom meal was crushed and half of it had leaked over the other meals and bag. We tried to ring them but after 25 minutes of calling we gave up and my wife drove back to them, they gave her 2 free poppadoms and replaced the damaged meal. Its lucky it was her that drove back as I certainly wouldnt settle for that as compensation for a ruined family meal, the petrol money, time and the fact the rest of my meal got cold.Absolute disgrace and will not be using them again, for that money I expect a lot more.

We fancied a Indian (Bengali style) one evening and practically all the locals we have met so far recommended 'Panahar'...On arrival, we were pleasantly greeted by Panahar's staff and seated straight away!! (Good start) We thought we'd be adventurous and went for dishes unique to the restaurant...We were not disappointed!!! The chicken Syhleti was just something else!!! They kindly made it less spicy for me, with no hassle. My wife is no stranger to hot food so she went for the Chicken Naga, again a Panahar signiture dish...she loved it!! I think that it was overall a very good experience and I plan to go back. The dishes were well cooked, good taste and they have a good variety. My choice was to try different dishes in order to enjoy different flavors. Many people do not enjoy the Indian cuisine and spices obviously this is unlike any of the Thai or Chinese cuisine. I find each of them different and spectacular in their own way. If you want to try Indian and you are in the area this is a good place in my opinion.Try their Naan bread with different flavours and fillings. Ask the waitress about how hot are the dishes if you are not able to take much spice.
