Visited with family to celebrate my birthday. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. We all had the set menu called The Palm Tree Mega Deal £14.95 but this is only available Sun - Thursday. The portions were excellent. The only downside was that for some reason they no longer sell alcohol. But you can bring your own which we were not made aware of when we booked. However a quick trip to the Co-op down the road saved the night. There is a £3.00 corkage charge. Overall an excellent night and well worth a visit.

Food bog standard, ordered a chicken vindaloo however is was incredibly dry. Onion bhajis soggy and cold. Definitely not worth the price they charge. Better off somewhere else.

Terrible customer service! Ordered home delivery for birthday. Food was only luke warm when delivered and a main course was missing. When we phoned about missing food, despite admitting the food was not delivered, they said they wouldn’t refund missing main course as we should have let the food that they did deliver go even colder and phoned them about missing food immediately rather than 45 minutes after it was delivered. Really disappointed at such a poor attitude and tbh food that was delivered wasn’t that great either!

Had a pathia, madras hot. Beautiful! Was hotter than a usual madras but just on my limit which was good. Very nice and i say that when usually I eat my curries in Birmingham and don’t leave reviews or a tip. These guys got 10%!

Small portion, all the food was too sweet and vindaloo was over excess hot, straight from bottle and chicken just added. Biryani was tasteless. The cost double what we pay at home town. Coke was flat completely watery. When we mentioned taste and portions we were told not made Asian people. Food was bland not at all presentable or appetising. Its not for Asian people sorry to say.

Great curry, fast service, friendly staff

Went on a Monday so was very quiet here. The staff were friendly enough but the menus were very dated and falling apart. We had the Mega Deal which is poppadoms, any starter/main/rice/side/naan for £16. This was actually a really good deal and the food was very nice. It’s bring your own booze though so be sure to bring your own chilled drinks if you want some alcohol. Will likely go back on future, didn’t really have any issues.

So i rarely have an Indian but thought I'd have one as I had the money so I ordered online via a well known delivery firm and the following happens 1. Takes over an hour to get to me even though I don't live far 2. Menu was not at all clear of what was what 3. When said wrong food came i called to complain and in short was called an idiot for not knowing the difference between 2 dishes 4. Was rudely interrupted by being shouted at In conclusion go somewhere else for an Indian if u want the right food at a decent price and don't want to be shouted at. Oh and also I had to pay for the change to the meal

We dropped by last night from work to eat because we were starving on our way home. The waiter was rude in a way that he collected our plates while I'm still eating, asking me if I'm finish while my plate is still with food in it and if we wanted to take out what's left on our table. And also while we are eating he was asking us if we could order other foods that we wanted. We didn't last there for an hour like we normally do when we eat ouside. To be honest their food does not taste good and far from an Indian foods that I tasted when I was in the UAE. Their Chicken Tikka does not taste like chicken tikka.

We came for Indian as was close to our spa. Very quiet restaurant only not busy for a Saturday. They no longer sell alcohol but you can bring your own. The starter we ordered mix dish of onion bajis and aloo tikka and puri dish. The fried food was very oily the only good thing We liked was the daal bit of spice. Just not my standard of Indian food needs a lot of improvement.

Brilliant evening beautiful Bangladesh meal. The staff are very helpful, polite and welcoming. Very friendly pricing. Alcohol is bring your own. Can't wait for my next visit. Highly recommend a visit.

We had a stunning meal and the staff were exceptionally helpful. The only disappointment was being charged a corkage fee. We arrived to a sign on the door advertising they did not serve alcohol but you could bring your own. We went to a local supermarket and bought 2 bottles if wine. On asking for the blll we were then told about the corkage charge. Would have been nicer for it to have been advertised or told about it before hand.

Had our first takeaway from here Friday night. Food was fabulous, very tasty and will most definitely be using it a lot more!

We were recently in Wales staying nearby and found the palm tree restaurant through a recommendation from the hotel we were staying at as I wanted an Indian meal while we were there. I phoned and booked the Palm Tree for our last night which I'm glad I did. The restaurant was quiet inside but they appeared to be busier with take aways /Deliveries. The lad behind the bar was friendly and helpful as was the owner who we had a good chat with while there. The food from the starter to the mains and side dishes came out piping hot and very very flavoursome. Three of us ate and none of us were disappointed in any of the food ! Will definitely book again if we are in the area. Just one other thing to note is that you will need to bring your own wine/beer. There is a shop 5 mins away which is where we popped to before we arrived.

Six of us visited the restaurant recently, we all tried various meals from the set menu priced at £14:95. The service was excellent and the food was cooked to perfection. We took our own alcoholic drinks since they only supply soft drinks, all of us left satisfied having had a very enjoyable evening.

We visited the Palm Tree twice in past month. Surroundings are lovely the service impeccable. The food was cooked as we ordered it, fresh and delicious.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was absolutely excellent. A real delight.

Ordered at lunchtime via Ubereats. Order was accepted and had notification that the food was being prepared then the order was cancelled 20 mins before It was due to arrive at 8pm with no explanation. Disappointed and hungry :-(

This is maybe the 3rd time we've had curry from here, and in the past it's been ok, but this time the curry was a bit bland and the meat dry. But I decided to write a review because shockingly we found a piece of metal in our curry. A small piece, but I am livid that this had been allowed to happen. It looks like it's from a metal scourer, not something that is safe to eat.

Not happy as we ordered for a 7.30 delivery and it did not arrive until 9pm. We rang twice to ask where our delivery was and both times we were told our delivery was on the way. We would not use or recommend again. Really unhappy with the service

I found chicken bones in my curry, could of chocked on them. I was lucky I didn't. Sorry to leave a bad review it's annoyed me so I got a refund thru just eat. Very stupid mistake and very sloppy, there were actually 3 bones in there, so 3 times the chef missed it. Won't be ordering again sadly. If I gave some to a young child and it got stuck in their throat I could well be sitting in the A&E ward right now. The starter was lovely and the nan bread was fine, the delivery driver was friendly nice guy also.

Very good Indian restaurant/takeaway at the top of the road going into Pontyclun. Their menu is excellent wide ranging to suit all tastes from meat eaters to vegetarian. We have had the onion bajhais which are georgeous with roti what more can you ask for!! In addition the chicken sag again lovely in taste and flavour. As to the vegetarian side recently we had the vegetarian set meal which can feed 3 people no problem I can tell you! Check out the menu there is something for you. Staff are very pleasant and polite and price wise good value same as others in the area. We now use this curry house as our regular!!

We had a really great meal in the Palm Tree last night. All the food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly and complied with all the required Covid precautions. They even let us drink our own wine, will definitely return.

Visiting the area we decided to have a quick meal in this restaurant and we were not disappointed! Really welcoming and friendly service, we chatted away with the owner and brother (socially distanced of course). Every Covid precaution was taken, temperature check on arrival and masks worn, cleanliness was taken very seriously. The food was fantastic and really generous portions! We loved the meal and when we visit the area again we will definitely pop back.

Don’t order from here!!! Ordered food went down a collected it brought it home and served it up. There was no taste to any dishes. All curries we’re watery and tasted vile. Phoned to complain and got told we would be given a free curry next time. Then phoned back as found ingredients in the food that shouldn’t have been there phoned back and asked if I could take it back and have a refund. Owner was extremely rude on the phone and then hung up on me. Took the food back and the owner was adamant that we as the customers were wrong and was trying to argue with us. Then he looked at what we returned (which was everything apart from the little that was on the plates) and got told by the owner “you’ve eaten some” which I can’t understand how else I was supposed to know how awful it was. The owner finally refunded the payment but still did not apologise for THEIR mishap. I will never be ordering from here again after the poor quality of food but most of all because of the way I was spoken to and treated.

We have eaten in the restaurant and had take away from here previously and enjoyed. Ordered same meal as twice before. Never again. It was inedible. Sauces were runny. Mild chicken + saag aloo way too spicy. Took food back for refund. Owners attitude as bad as the food. Said some food missing from containers. Well yea, we'd put some on our plates expecting to eat it. We did get a full refund but would have preferred a decent meal.

Excellent take away service with the Sun- Thurs special. Great food and great service especially at this covid 19 madness. Support this great local Indian restaurant at this time .

Enjoyed the food here tonight but felt the need to write a review as left feeling a little sad and uneasy. I ordered a beer to be asked large ? I went with large then asked for another but this time a small and the waiter said they only had large ? I don’t know if I believed him. Then I paid the bill with cash and I had every intention of leaving a tip but I didn’t get a chance to as they kept the change!! It was only £3.75 but still I would have liked the option !!

Lovely attentive service, great food , reasonably priced, would definitely recommend. Staff were very helpful , we were a party of six , celebrating pre Christmas with grandchildren, so lots of gifts , messing about, but the staff were very helpful,and we had a lovely evening . Thank you .

Massive fan of The Palm Tree! Whether it’s eat in or Takeaway - always excellent! Contemporary menu & flavours. Always great quality meat (which isn’t always the case for many competitors). Tonight we enjoyed a fantastic King Prawn Puree. Mushroom Bhaji was so tasty - with big juicy mushrooms. Excellent Chicken Tilkka Bhuna & Goan Salon! Can’t wait for our next Palm. Would thoroughly recommend!

Today I visit this restaurant and I found they have new chef. I tried there lamb rogan josh. It was superv. I just love it. I asked there owner is ur chef is changed and he told me yes. His new chef came from a very good Indian restaurant which is famous somewhere can’t remember. Trust me if you visit with ur family I m pretty much sure u remember my word. Just love it.

The food was ok but the staff were not that helpful in encouraging me to revisit. This is a shame as years ago it really was a treat to dine there and you were made to feel most welcome.

Visited The Palm Tree whilst on a short visit. The service was fantastic, staff were very attentive and polite.Great meal deals available and the portion size is very generous. The Food came out piping hot and tasted extremely fresh. By far one of the best Indians restaurants i have visited. Would highly recommend and would revisit if visiting Cardiff again.

Ive eaten many Indian takeaways. I have had 2 takeaways from here, unfortunately the two I’ve have been not been anything to rave about. The consistency of the curry was poor and the flavour not there. I’ve also had a chicken bone in the last curry. I will be going further afield from now on.

Ok food..... poor waiter service, quite ignorant to be honest. Rushing you to order, didn't want to explain anything. Table way to small for all that was ordered, had to put side dishes on radiator for room to eat.

Not very welcoming and the food was not the best. We were s party of 6 adults 2 children and 3 under 2 years of age. Would not return in a hurry.

Food its nice and the place its clean and well presented. The service was a disappointment, took too long to take our orders, constantly rude manners from the waiter, we had to clean our own dishes out and handle them to him as he just won't bother for a long time, very angry everytime we ask for anything else, we also had to take our own high chairs as none available. I will have it as a takeaway again not as a dine in.

Palm tree takeaway is the best indian meal ive ever had.

I've stopped eating at this restaurant as I find the proprietor rude. I took my children a few months ago and he was grumpy and offhand. There is another curry house in the village where we're greeted like family so his attitude is foolish. I hope you have a better experience.

This review refers to a take away orders made through Just Eat.I've made about 6 takeaway orders with this restaurant in the last 6 months. They're the only one I use in the Pontyclun area. Usually there are no issues, but recently the quality and standard have been declining.I ordered a takeaway delivery for 7:00pm and it arrived at 6:00pm. I wasn't ready for it. I specifically ordered it for an hour later. When the delivery driver knocked on my door, I told her I ordered it for later, and she just said "Well it's here now." She was really rude and did not apologise or offer to bring it back / bring a fresh meal at the correct time. I had to request a 50% refund because she was so rude.Then when it came to actually opening up the delivery, the onion bhajis were powdery and cold, as if they'd been in the fridge. The garlic naan was also cold. The rice, you guessed it, cold. The only thing which was PIPING HOT was the masala sauce which comes with the main. It was as if it had been nuked in the microwave on full power. It was scalding. The temperatures of the various parts of the meal were not consistent and not what you'd expect.I don't think I'll be ordering again for a while.

A group of friends and family visited the Palm Tree after deciding to leave our table in Indiaah in Pontyclun due to the terrible attitude of the manager and staff. None of us had been to the Palm Tree before and we were very impressed. The food was vibrant and fresh, full of fresh herbs, tomatoes, green vegetables and a total difference from our old haunt. We all wished we’d discovered it before! They did a £15 deal which encompassed everything on the menu, and the food was of a very high standard. The service was impeccable, smart, friendly efficient staff. Very smart surroundings. We will definitely be visiting again.

Absolutely terrible food all coming from the microwave, food was cold on delivery and missing half the order after being 30 minutes late Perfect for if you don’t know what a curry is.

This place doesn’t deserve the title of restaurant as no food is cooked on the premises. What one is served are pre prepared bought in ingredients mixed with sauces and reheated rice. Indian my a...-shameful!!

Dreadful. Slow service and also quite sullen. Starters were okay but main courses (dupiaza) were awful, bland and no kick at all. I've tasted spicier kormas. Really disappointed as they had good reviews.

I have had food poisoning twice through this place. 1st time I wasn’t sure so after ordering a month later and getting the same symptoms again it’s a bit more than a coincidence!! When phoning and speaking to the boss explaining what had happened he wasn’t interested!! I will defo not be ordering anymore food from here!!

Ordered our takeaway at 6.45 to collect was told to collect in 20 mins ! Arrived at restaurant at 7.30 told to sit down still no food at 8pm ! Fobbed off for another 10 mins. Eventually got home to a watery Jalfrezi minus the chillis and parts of order missing !The food standard in the window showing level 2 and its inability to get their act together has lost the Palm tree it’s custom from us.

We spent £160 for our food. The food was barely average. We asked for containers to bring the food we were too full to eat home. They wanted to charge us 50p per container which would have totalled £4. We left the food behind. They have lost 8 customers and we will never return there for meal or takeaway again. How mean is it to charge for a foil container that probably cost them 2p after we spent all that money there. Unbelievable.Staff not welcoming or friendly either.

We were greeted at the restaurant by a waiter saying "alright" to us! None of the staff managed to say hello or smile and be friendly. We had to wait nearly 45 minutes for the starters to arrive.....I have never seen anything like it! I know Indian food and this was not Indian food. The starters and main courses had no taste to them, they looked like jar sauces had been used. They were no Indian flavours whatsoever. My so called aloo tikki chaat was actually just four pieces of potato in batter!! The butter chicken looked like pureed baby food. I think the chef (if you can call them that) needs to find a good Indian recipe book to understand how to actually cook Indian food!!I feel sorry for people who frequent this restaurant.....it is not what proper Indian food tastes like!!! Go somewhere else where you will get proper food and better service. We were so disappointed and two people out of our group had very upset tummies the following day

Went for a family meal. Very grumpy waiter. Food was average. Food tasteless and atmosphere wasn't great. Felt rushed..even though it wasn't busy. Coke was flat. Will not b returning.

Very bad customer service from the owner which is a shame. The meal was nice and to be fair we've never had a bad one there. We've been going to this curry house for over six years now but we wont visit again after being spoken to in a very rude manner

Called in on a Sunday evening. Sit down meal for two, both of us vegetarian. Had the set Veg meal, which included pickles to start followed by a pre main course starter consisting of veg samosas and fried potato and salad. Main course consisted of two main dishes and a special side dish and a large naan bread. Rice was also included. Good quality produce and plenty of it. Including two large bottles of cobra (well you have to dont you) and two coffees to round the meal off it was just shy of £31. Very good value indeed. The place is nice, small, but quirky. Quieter times preferable as this place can get very busy at key times. Will return.

Satisfied with delivery time and food quality . Driver was friendly. The beef starter was a little tough.....and my drink didn't come so the driver said he'd bring it back which he did straight away so that's why it's 4 stars instead of five

Defiantly a lovely Indian but I have had a few issues with food quality as I do find the chicken to always be a bit dry and not up to par compared to the curry itself. However I have ordered from here a few times and everything else is still lovely including the staff.

Ordered for a collection before and they had forgotten a starter,just left it as it was busy, then ordered from there again for another starter to be forgotten. Thought we would try there again this evening as we hadn’t in months.To get back and eat it, well there was no flavour on the onion bahji’s,popadoms and naan,chicken was very hard and tikka masala sauce was very watery and had no flavour.Will not be going there in a hurry any time soon!!!

Have eaten here on a few occasions, tend to go Sun to Thurs when the offer is on, the naans are beautifully fluffy and the reshmi kebab starter mmmmmm
