Very nice hot and fresh. Reasonably priced and not far from the front if u are in a car. Would reccomend and take them up to Water Gardens to eat :-)

I have used a few times and never been impressed. Today however the lady fryer is by far their best, ... being in the industry myself especially in the town nothing beats a good chippy ... and from time to time I do like to have a little gander what's going on out there, the server was lovely and friendly. I would go back in there if the foods cooked by the same person.

The Owner is so lovely! We were greeted with a warm welcome. The dogs were allowed to come in with us and were given a sausage too, which I thought was a lovely touch 😊 We were also offered hot drinks and just generally very well looked after. The cod bites and chips are delicious 👌😁

Best fish and chips for miles around. Fish is always fresh and tasty. Chips are usually perfect too!

What can I say, we travel 25 miles to get our tea, always great service with a warm welcome from him and his family always going above and beyond, never give reviews but I feel here is worthy and should be acknowledged of standards across the board, and see you again when I have cheat day. 👍🏻

This has to be one of the best fish and chips I've had for a long time if you want proper fish I highly recommend just left their and will go back again

It's been a year since my last review for PJ's so after just eating a perfectly cooked large haddock, chips and mushy peas, I'd like to confirm everything as good as ever! Superb fresh fish, just came away in flakes, lovely batter, perfect chips, the mushy peas just mushy enough! I also like that they fry in veg oil and avoid the beef dripping scenario that seems to be used in most other chippies. Everything is nicer for it (I'm not veggie or vegan as stated from my order above) but having eaten at other chippies over the years i can confirm the food is tastier the PJ's way. In my opinion the best fish n chippy in town, never a let down and really friendly staff too! 👍👍 Outstanding fresh fish and tasty chips as usual, highly recommended, top takeaway!

These were the best fish, chips and SCRAPS, we've ever had!!! Hubby had curry sauce while I had mushy peas, all the food was delicious but the stars were the curry sauce and the scraps. We would certainly return

I just got a large cod and chips and the fish was so dry and, hard it was inedible. It must have layed for ages the fish was a sort of yellow colour and no flavour and was over £8 just for the fish. It should not have been sold. Total waste of money I won't ever go there again

The best halloumi and chips great! And It's fab they don't put the thick batter on like a lot of places do. Real shame have to change this review. Service has been dreadful recently, young staff haven't got the will to live. Missed food out and given wrong chicken. Then a separate time put chicken in with chips when asked for them separately not good for a non meat eater. She took chicken off the top and put in another box that was it really. Should've been new chips. I was embarrassed to ask again for new chips but I should've been offered. There are people who are allergic to meat. Halloumi was always good but recently its been very greasy. What a shame really loved this place....

I used to work in Great Yarmouth some 40 years ago...today I was back in town again, searching for the legendary fish 'n' chips I fondly remember eating there. Fortunately I found P J's Take Away on Northgate Street and our cod and chips was frankly perfect. The fish was freshly cooked, flaky-white cod in a tasty batter, the chips were chunky and tasted like the real deal. The staff was lovely, the service impeccable and our seafront take-away dinner was a dream - served with salt and vinegar and a slice of lemon, in a convenient box. Thank you P J and your team.

Great little rustic place and personally one of the best chip shops in great Yarmouth, staff were lovely, food was great, lots of crispy bits of your a fan!, price was a bit up there but would say it's worth it if you like quality and great service everytime

This man was the nicest man I have ever met couldn't do enough for us let us sit down even tho it was 10 mins till closing was great with the kids made them smile fish and chips was amazing you made our day thankyou so much

So I'm unsure how they have a 4.6 rating. Tonight I ordered small cod , large chips ,one large battered sausage and a steak and ale pie. Well chips for £3.50, I was expecting to be able to share these between 3 people let's say there was not much at all for the money. They girl serving asked me 4 times how I would like my food wrapped found this very annoying the sausage was rubbery to say the least. The wait in cold door way was at least 25 minutes. Up to u but you're wasting money I won't be returning and chips are awful

Great fish shop selling the usual things like fish and chips pie and chips sausages, cod roe, fishcakes, plus much more. Nice and fresh fish. Open til late.

Even though it was Friday and the shop was heaving, service was still pretty quick - I ordered small cod and chips (which was already in the warmer). Not over or undercooked, with no bones in the fish, but a good amount of skin, it was a perfectly acceptable meal.

Lovely chips but disappointed with my skate . Don't feel it was cooked enough . Unfortunately the batter was soggy and parts of the fish gelatinous.

This place always has been and always will be the best place in Gorleston/Great Yarmouth to get fish and chips.

Best ever fish and chips going ......

Went here during our camping trip. We arrived just before closing time and the owner kept it open just for us and even offered for us to stay in while he'd finish some admin in the back. We decided to eat outside because it was such lovely weather and he recommended Bure Park which was perfect. Great guy and super friendly, and goes out of his way for you. Food was also delicious and since it was after closing time we even got some extras for free. Absolutely recommend it! :)

We found this place online as we are here for a day at the races. 7 lots of fish and chips, all cooked fresh. Everything was cooked perfectly. Staff were amazing. We were offered fresh lemon and a mug of tea. We come to the races quite a bit, and this will be our go to place now. 👍👍

I would say the fryer is turned up to high as batter was hard and crunchy fish was undercooked.pie was rock hard.4 people standing round serving same person waited ages for absolute rubbish food never again .I recommend you go elsewhere.

Stopped regularly here on my way to work, i ordered large skin off cod and regular chips, i had to wait for the fish to be cooked but thats no problem, freshly cooked fish is better than dried up pre cooked fish, the price was quite good in my opinion despite a few claims that PJs is expensive, i sat in my car to eat my meal right outside the shop, the fish was superb, chunky, fresh, tasty and plenty of it, the batter was crispy and not a drop of grease, the chips were very good and the curry sauce is a must have. The staff here are excellent, all very welcoming and friendly, willing and happy to chat and serve the customers with a smile, an excellent chippy, highly recommended. I've not been here for a while now, so I'm hoping to pay a visit soon.

Waited for our fish to be cooked for us. We had Haddock, Cod, Chips & Pickled Onions. The batter was light & crispy. The freshist fish we've ever had. The chips were were a beautiful golden brown & the best we've had in a long time. The huge pickled onions were back breakers. Excellent service with a smile as well as please & thank you's. The cost was very good value for money. Can't wait to return again later in the year when once again we holiday in Great Yarmouth. Very very highly recommended.

Our favourite as the quality of the food, plus the friendly helpful staff makes it our first choice every time. Always very busy when schools are out. New siscovery was a battered sausage which looked about a foot long. The shop is always clean and well presented.

Had a job in GY yesterday and drove up from portsmouth. I skipped breakfast as I fancied fish n chips for lunch - and I wasn’t disappointed. Well cooked, fresh and tasty. I’ll be back when I’m next in town 😍

Nice food and staff well worth it

Had to give One Star as there is no facility give zero. I had Fish & Chips, and the Fish was brown, and rubbery and tasted, and looked like it has been cooked hours previously. The Chips were under cooked, and hard, not edible. Threw the meal away, won’t be using this Fish & Chip Takeaway again. Decided to go to Crystal’s Fish Bar on Fullers Hill, and had a beautiful piece of Cod, and nice Chips. Fully recommend Crystal’s Fish Bar.

Ordered from pjs for the first time, the owner cooked some fresh rock for us and along with the rest of the food we ordered it was delicious, lovely chips, great portion sizes, tasted brilliant and the service was fantastic, will definitely use again when on my holidays.

We all wanted some fish and chips while on holiday and we read the reviews and thought we would give it a try, and we was not disappointed fantastic cod, lovely chips and the ribs are well worth a try.

Great chip butty, and curry sauce. Glad they recognised the concept of being vegetarian. Lovely find.

Tasty food. When I went I had a shirt wait while the person in front made a massive order. However once the server had took his order she asked my mine. I was pleased that I didn't have to wait for them to do the big order and the very pleasant and freindly staff for my order ready quickly. Highly recommended I will definitely be using them again.

Excellent fish and chips. Had a large skate with small chips and have to say one of the best I ever had. Fresh fish, crispy batter and chips with a crack. The ladies behind the counter were very helpful and even showed us the fresh fish before cooking it for us.

Excellent chip shops all 3 of them used these since I was a kid and I can say it’s 5 start quality food would highly recommend to every one
