Oyster Bay in Castle Point

Worst toastie I've ever had! Cheapest thin white bread, cheap square reformed ham. Not even buttered. The salad had slimy lettuce in it. Very disappointed.

Enjoyed a nice lunch today, food was of a good standard. Unfortunately cannot say the same for the sour faced manageress whom we've experienced a few times with her offish approach. On one occassion she got very defensive over the cocktail deal that was displayed on the bar board saying the deal had ended and we werent entitled to it. She eventually gave us the deal after much huffing and puffing but didn't change the chalk board the entire evening. Today we sat and watched a family spill a full pint of drink over a table and the floor. Said manageress watched whilst they independently cleaned it up with blue towel that bar staff had supplied, no help was given by her or any other member. We will be visiting surrounding establishments from now on which is a shame as they have a nice menu and the food is good.

Didn't know what to expect because of mixed reviews, we tried Oyster Bay because its close to us and our kitchen is being refurbished. Great food, great service, you can only take as you find. Give it a try!

Always had a really great meal in here but it’s been closed ..now reopened not so great chips not very good and the whole place smelt of really strong stale cooking oil and the floor was really dirty with food everywhere needed a good clean ..not up too the standards it was .., is this under new management if so they need to pull their socks up as it’s really gone down hill in our opinion

Decent lager selection and decent bar staff. Lunch was pretty good. Nothing to complain about. Would revisit.

We just turned up last night without booking, for 10 of us to celebrate my Mums birthday (and the first after losing my Dad). The staff couldn’t of been more helpful or kinder. Total attention and when there was a slight mix up with the order, it was dealt with apology and immediate resolution. The food was so fresh, pipping hot and delicious! Will definitely be returning regularly but promise to let you know if we are all coming at once next time!!

Bar staff friendly, chatted to me while l was waiting for the rest of my family. When family arrived staff was accommodating about re arranging the seating. Food was good and freshly cooked. I enjoyed my sea food platter. Have been several times over the years and have enjoyed the food.

Came in for lunch, it was Bank Holiday so was pleased to find the restaurant reasonably quiet. The bar staff were very welcoming and helpful. We were set up with a nice table and high chair for the baby. I was well pleased by the choice of menu and price. Service was excellent. The food was well cooked and my pizza one of the best I have eaten. Would definitely return.

Ordered recommended house wine from bar staff. It tasted disgusting when we complained to bar staff. Instead of replacing the bottle they offered one glass lemonade to help it go down , We have drank there many times before with no problem. Not only the taste but the price is totally unexceptable £16.95 for a undrinkable bottle of white wine. Such a shame you have focused on the interior more then the quality of wine. The Oyster Bay Canvey island is not recommended

You can have a main course but forget a desert. Better off going next door and getting an ice cream from the shop. Why can't you have a desert after a main course? It's the very basic you can get. They only had three tickets. Surely a desert should be considered just as important as a main. Kitchen staff doing a great job but front of house let them down big time.

Lovely place to stay. Staff are so friendly and very helpful, Room clean and tidy and comfortable. Lovely evening meal in the Restaurant. Food always very good. Love the atmosphere here. A bit disappointed at breakfast, help yourself option very basic, used to get yogurt and fruit option but this appears to have stopped.. Overall always a very enjoyable stay.

Enjoyed a few visits here while visiting family and friends - nice outdoor area (real sun trap). Friendly staff even when it was really busy managed to stay calm under pressure!

Finally somewhere that has great food, such freindly and helpful bar staff and a comfortable, relaxed enviroment. Visited wednesday, half term, was very busy, food took a little while but was to be expected as full when we arrived. Ladies behind the bar seemed very efficiant. Good portions and arrived nice and hot. Will recommend. Thanx.

Loved the modern feel makes the seafront look updated. Loved the atmosphere of the place. Daytime chilled lovely food and evening catering for all. Great place to eat and drink outside weather permitting.

Came here for some lunch with friends . Great food and very generous portions for your money. Staff are very friendly and helpful to your needs. We can see this is the place to be in the summer months, We will defiantly be returning

Standards have really dropped here never know what time they are going to shut so it's difficult to arrange a night out with friends but the worst part is inside it is a bit of a phone dead spot and they will not let you use their WiFi so cannot use app to call a Taxi or contact anybody unless you go outside where at this time of year its cold and wet and wait for your phone to pick up a signal or 4g

Have eaten here on several occasions..but this time was not as good..food below previous standards..service not as friendly..cheap..but not good value

Me and my girlfriend visited the oyster bay on 6th October 2018 at 19:00while we was waiting for our film to start next door at canvey movie starr we ordered a few drinks at the bar I ordered 2 amstels and she ordered a couple of Pepsi max then at 19;40 we went to the cinema to find out the film doesn't start til 20:40 so we decided to go back into the oyster bay and order some more drinks she couldn't drink anything alcoholic because she was on antibiotics she had put her battery bank down on the table and it was wet and sticky and took the paint work off her battery bar so I decided to complain to the bar staff behind the bar to try and get a refund for her battery bank they were obstinate that it wouldn't be from the table that ruined her battery bank that it was already like it so they gave us both a free beverage we sat down and waited for our side to come over and didn't think anymore of it until the bouncer had came over and gave us plastic cups to pour our drink in and the bouncer had launched me across the room and one of the members of the public had threatened to get me down on the floor

I came here with my boyfriend on Friday 6th October 2018 at 20:00 while we was waiting to see the movie in the cinema which started at 20:40 I had a couple of Pepsi max because I was on antibiotics n my boyfriend had 2 amstels at 19:40 we went to the cinema only to find out it wasn’t on til another hour so we decided to go back into the oyster bay for a couple more drinks we sat down at a table waiting for our dinner to be served I had put my battery bank down on the table and it was wet and sticky and it took the paintwork off my battery bar and also my phone had got sticky because my home button on my phone wasn’t working my boyfriend put a complaint in to the staff asking for money back for the cost of a new battery bank which they were not going to do so instead something that cost my bf £12:50 because he bought the battery bank for me they only gave us £5.00 off of our drinks didn’t think anymore of it til the bouncer said we had to leave n gave us plastic cups for our drinks the bouncer had pushed my bf out of the door and a member of the public had threatened to get my boyfriend down on the floor which was uncalled for and the bouncer had pushed my boyfriend or the bouncer kicked my ankle so that his foot had gone into my ankle and cut my ankle and badly bruised it so we would like some compensation

Ok food .. Nice pub .. Very loud .. Best place to eat on seafront staff good .. Love the specials big and clear .. Kids can eat ... Just need to keep up with clearing tables after small kids and cleaner floors too ..

Visited this bar on the 25th of September for lunch with my family we came in around 1pm and the place was full we was told of a wait of about 45 mins for food this was not a problem for us as we could see the young girl behind the bar was on her own and was struggling a little with the demand as she was serving drinks, food and trying to keep the floor clean. They clearly need more staff on busy demanding shifts. Our food came up one of us had the special of liver and bacon it was to die for,others had fish and chips and ultimate burgers all the food was popping hot and we couldn’t fault it. We will defiantly recommend this place to our friends we look forward to returning.

We visited this 'brasserie' at lunch time today and waited 40 minutes for a lasagne and a haddock fish cake peas and chips. When the food eventually arrived via a surly waitress who didn't even apologise for the delay, the lasagne was hot at the edges and lukewarm on the inside. The fish cake looked devoid of any fish and just tasted of potato, the peas were cold but the chips were actually edible. Had we not already paid for the food we would have left without waiting for the meals. I wouldn't recommend this place.

went on a weekday lunch time but in school holidays. Was very busy and noisy . Food was very nice and good value for money. Had to wait a while after ordering but they did apologise and quality was worth the wait. Would use again.

Clean friendly hotel with a great bar and just a short walk to the sea front.

Stopped off here for a bit of lunch. Pleasant place staff were friendly.i asked for two Americano coffees and was told they don't make Americano's, was asked if I want light coffees only for her to go and make two cups of instant coffee, I questioned this and she said it's what I asked for... When asked which coffees they serve she replied latte or capachino... I tried to explain what an Americano was but got no response so ordered cold drinks instead..... We waited for 50 minutes before I complained to the manager... 50 minutes being a long time for two salads and a chicken burger. When I spoke to the manager he was helpful and apologized and made two Americanos and gave me a bottle of water for our trouble's. The food was pleasant tho one small chicken breast in a big bun was a bit of a letdown. Honestly I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

Love the location..nice sitting watching the world pass by..good standard of food for this sort of place..basically a pub that serves food..pleasant service and very reasonably priced..will be back when next on Canvey..

I have been here quite a few times for lunch, lovely place for meeting up with friends for lunch, i often go there with my friend for lunch and i can honestly say ive never had a bad experience. The food is always lovely the staff are really nice altogether a nice way to spend a couple of hours eating chatting and catching up with friends ...

really happy with our visit. staff were very friendly and the food was lovely. They have a great selection of food. we order the prawn salad, calzone, burgers. Loads of prawns in the salad the best salad I've had eating out. the burgers looked good too. They also do kids menu so great to bring the kids here before you go too the cinema. drinks menu is fairly priced. couldn't fault it too be honest.

Theres only one fault with this place is when theres a lot of people in here its very noisy mainly because its all wooden floors However the food is very good and the staff are fantastic very helpful and very cheerful

On seafront strip on Canvey seafront.,food served fast..and good quality..gives the feeling of being on holiday..good beer.

This was my first visit to the Oyster Bay. I took my Granddaughter for lunch before going to the cinema. She's a fussy eater, but the food we selected was served quickly and was very tasty.

Oyster bay is a victim of its own sucess, a good place for lunch and a chat , busy in holidays so we avoid . But will be back soon

Just had to write and say what a fantastic time we had here on Wednesday 10 mayThe food was very good we all (12 of us) had different meals and everyone enjoyed their meals there were not expensive at all. I would also like to say a BIG thank you to the staff Monty Grant Lucy and Nathan who were very obliging and nothing was too much trouble.

Sadly I was here for a "wake" but the catering and organisation of the venue was really good. The staff were fantastic and attentive and all the amenities were clean. Parking was great and plenty of spaces.

Usually in here for a few drinks, but have had meals in the past...This is probably the best bar on Canvey Island in terms of the modern nature, service, family friendly atmosphere and live sports showings. I've been here many times now, with various types of visit and I haven't been able to fault it once. The only thing to note would be that it can be crowded at times, but I wouldn't say that's a fault, more of an unavoidable outcome of being a good bar.Food is always fresh and hot, drinks are always pretty quick, and the staff are more than happy to help with anything you need.

If you like sport then.this is for you if you can handle 3 different sports at once with music blaring. Use occasionally because it is local but not my first choice. Too loud and packed when sunny.

The service was really good. Went there with my two daughters who treated me for Mother's Day We were going to the cinema so called into the Oyster Bay for lunch before hand. It was very nice, for me an average tasting burger with bacon. The garlic breaded mushrooms were delishious but the garlic dip for me was not very nice, it reminded me of a cheap dip I had once while on holiday in Greece but like they say each to their own. Over all a nice place and I will defiantly be going back

Had a bit of business on canvey island, so it was lunch first,decided to go to another restaurant that we always use, it was closed. We noticed a row of shops and restaurants and picked the Oyster bar. What a suprirse, food was taste, seaside menu, not a problem, staff were friendly and helpful. Would go there again.

We travelled to Canvey Island for the day on Saturday 18th Feb 2017.an park up for Free.we decided to walk along the sea front. The pathway at the start is Very rough for wheelchair users.Once on the new refurbished path this was quite smooth and it is suprising how close you are to the ships wonderful views and nice to be so close to the views.After struggling to find somewhere to eat we decided on the Oyster Bay and ordered a pizza for Trevor and a Cheeseburger, fries and coleslaw for myself.and two J20s. the helpings are good value for money.Shame they do not do anything with fresh vegetables but you can not have everything. We both enjoyed our day outand may go again another time.

Went to Canvey to visit for a friends 50th birthday and went to the Oyster Bay to watch rugby and have food, we had the big burger and was in my opinion very nice and worth the money, staff were very friendly and service very quick, would recommend

Go regularly food is really nice and really good value, take son to watch football matches there and not too roudy

Have eaten here several times. Food always good and reasonably priced. They don't strart serving dinner until 7pm. I like the fact that they have a no children after 9pm policy. Can get busy.

A fairly new establishment on the main seafront offering a good wholesome selection of food with some wicked drinks.

We came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I had the ultimate burger and my girlfriend had the club sandwich. The value for food isn't bad at all but they definitely make their money on drinks as the markup is quite high. The food was served quick and hot. I loved the look of the club sandwich and will be getting that next time! The chips are to die for too. After the food we sat out the front to finish our drinks as the weather was nice. The outside tables need to be looked after a bit more as they were dirty, still had glasses on them etc.Will definitely be coming back.

I don't live on the island but I am a frequent visitor of the Oysterfleet hotel because of it being a great food establishment. Me and my wife decided to try there sister house "the oyster bay". So glad we did, the place was very busy and hardly a table to be had. my wife wanted to sit by the by folding doors because outside was to busy and that was were the sun was. So we had to wait a bit. Not even a pint down the hatchet and a table became available. It wasn't cleared or cleaned but were aware of this when we jumped at the table. Moved the plates and glasses to the edge and not even 3 mins and the waitress was clearing our table for us. Plates and glasses cleared she was back to give the table a clean, thankful that she did but it was still a bit sticky, so she gave it another clean with a new cloth while explaining that the tables are due for a re-varnish soon because of the cleaning fluids taking the varnish off.So over all very happy with the bar staff helping and explaining certain situations. Bar staff are lovely. Had a little chat with the chef "monty" I do believe, after thanking him for the great meal that I and my wife was made. All in all I think that the oyster bay is a massive asset to the Oysterfleet Plc and the staff even more.P.S. The manager Lucy is very lovely and works herself a little more than any boss should expect of anyoneDefinitely Returning.

My partner and I came here on a humid, grey Sunday. Oyster Bay was quite busy but we were able to get a table - bit sticky, needed a wipe down. The menu had a good selection of food items. I chose the club sandwich and my partner chose the Oyster Bay Burger - something like that anyway.I ordered the food at the bar as well as 2 drinks - £24.The food came out quickly and was delicious. We would come back again.

Drove over to Canvey with my daughter as she was on inset day and not back to school. Unfortunately, Fantasy Island was shut for the rides so I had an upset 5 yr old who was also hungry, and I really wasn't expecting to find anywhere decent to get lunch at Canvey sea front. The food here was great. My little girl had a huge wood fired style pizza with cheese & tomato. My burger was big tasty succulent and great value. It wasn't busy so I can't comment on waiting times peak season but our food was served hot & tasty and without a huge wait. Tables clean and wiped down swiftly after people had left. Waitress happy to help with a take away pizza box for left over pizza etc. Toilets spotless. This place saved the day with an upset girl , sad that the rides weren't open, with great value food for lunch. Well done to the management!

We went to Canvey for lunch today with our little girl, my husband is very fussy with food so I requested twice when ordering that his burger be cooked Well Done. When it arrived even I could tell it was barely cooked. It was a limp grey colour, and as we had specifically asked for it Twice he took it back. Out jumped the chef with an aggressive manor telling him that he is wrong and it was cooked, well I'm sorry I didn't come in for an argument, I did ask for it cooked a certain way and if that wasn't available then I would have just chosen something else. But to be approached and argued with over it, well being the customer I sort of think I shouldn't have to deal with it. It's a shame because it seems nice in there and location is lovely , also a easily request I have a toddler and we asked her food to be cooked first and left on the side to cool down as she gets upset if food comes out and she can't eat it and it's very hot ! Well it came out as if it had just came out the fryer I couldn't even eat it . Just little request that seemed to much

Was pleasantly surprised at our meal here, very tasty, well cooked food at a very reasonable price . My only complaint would be that the outside tables could do with cleaning between customers

Had a great lunch. Very quiet when we were there but got the impression it could be a lot rowdier of a night time. Staff a bit lazy on clearing the tables, but overall I would go back

I would have given this place a review of 'Very Good' if we had not had our order mixed up and then had to wait for one of the four meals to be recooked. So the others all had to start eating, while one watched and waited. I have to say this was handled by the waiting staff very efficiently and the wait was swift, but still is always in my view a dampen on a meal out. The food is good and the portion sizes are good/large. The noise is quite overwhelming and boarding on very loud at times and the place was only half full. So certainly not the place to go if you want to chat over you meal. Will use again for a snack/lunch rather than an evening meal with family.

Not a bad place but the outside area needs a sweep and the tables need a wash a shame because it makes you wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen very of putting

Really lovely hot food well priced a nice greeting when you go to the bar very happy and friendly staff, menu not too large but great food and inexpensive,large portions had the homemade chilli nachos to start was lovely and struggled with my club sandwich will and have been back several times.

Oyster bay is fundamentaly a sports type bar. On sporting events and Friday,Saturday and Sundays I am told it gets absolutely packed.However we visited on a Wednesday evening. Euro 2016 football was on, with the sound down.. Loads of available tables both inside and out. Staff go out of their way to be helpfull. Reasonably priced drinks but the food is terrific. We shared a Pizza. Wedges and Chicken wings. More than enough for 2. Unless your a huge eater. Can't wait to try some more of the Menu.

Visited on Sunday 3rd April for lunch with family, when we arrived the bar was very clean and a few tables occupied. We had 3 children with us, we ordered our food very quickly and the lady serving us was great and very helpful. The food arrived in good time and as always was very tasty, the children enjoyed their lunch and portion sizes were very good. Whilst eating our lunch the bar became very busy but the staff kept on top of dirty tables and glass collecting. The toilets were very clean and all in all was a great visit.

This pub offers a comfortable atmosphere with a great location. The food offered is of a very good standard all being cooked fresh and of a very competative price. Children are welcome. TV'S are placed around the walls showing sporting events and drinks are quite reasonably priced. Outside seating is hard to find in the summer months as people tend to get their bottles of wine and stay there all day due to the lovely location. Staff are very friendly

The food is reasonable and tastes ok, and the portions are good.The drink is expensive compared to other pubs in the area. Great in the summer sitting outside, sadly due to the lack of soft furniture and whole bar suffers badly with back round noise from everyone talking etc. The noise can be deafening and people avoid sitting inside due to the noise.

Went along with friends Sunday Jan 17 and so glad we did, for a good fun time was had by all, so kind to the children were the staff, with generous portions for our lunch,Highly reccomended

We often spend long lazy lunches at the weekend here during the summer, good atmosphere, reasonably priced pizza/burger type menu, family friendly and plenty of alfresco seating.

The atmosphere here is good especially at the weekends. When the weather is nice you can sit outside or inside with the doors open over looking the outside area. The service and staff are lovely. Very friendly and helpful. Food is very nice and reasonably priced.

Went along to the Oyster Bay Cafe / Bar on Canvey seafront, what a dire place, we opted to sit outside in the front, tables strewn with uncollected used plates and empty glasses, the floor covered in grime, (has it ever been mopped ? or washed) there was even people smoking within the public area with cigarette butts having been chucked .We opted for a burger with fries, what a horrible experience, luke warm meal very long service time, we waited an hour for the cheap looking burgers to arrive, loutish behaviour from men without their shirts on and screaming kids running amok.

Menu was good, not too many choices, which I much prefer. Had club sandwich, which came with chips and coleslaw. My five year old had the pizza. Portions were huge! Chips were cooked to perfection, crispy and delicious. Club sandwich was very well presented, crammed full of chicken, bacon, cheese, ham, tomato and salad and was one of the best I've ever had. Son's pizza was also very good, cooked well, with fresh ingredients. Good atmosphere in there too. Would definitely recommend and will return.

On Seafront,which is looking more and more like a continental seafront,with more places opening and being moderized.eaten here a couple of times,and on each occasion everyone has enjoyed their food.Reasonably priced.Order at bar,so no real service.

great atmosphere, lively and great for meeting up with friends. We've had great food there time and again but there is almost always a long wait for it. The home made pizzas are excellent and the prices are very good. Its got a great outside eating area which is great for hot weather.

Good beer, lovely stone baked pizza served quickly, other stuff looked good too. Burgers, hot dogs etc, good family fayre. Clean, nice toilets. Reasonably priced. Can't knock it at all. Really nice to sit just in the shade by the bi-fold doors. Proper.

I have to say myself and my wife have been here around twenty times and are never disappointed. The service is brilliant, the staff are fantastic, and the food is out of this world.........Want a tip ( Carl's famous Hunters chicken is wicked try it. )
