On a very cloudy & misty day we enjoyed a really lovely coffee, latte & sausague roll. All was really nice & tasty. The new seating area & plants looked great & gave a pleasant place to sit by the sea. Our dogs were welcomed & given a treat which was a great surprise. Its worth the walk or cycle along the undercliff & although the cafe does not have its own facilities the public toilets near by had everything required.

Great little cafe with panoramic views of the sea. Authentic Italian coffee. They know what they are doing. Nice treats too.

Such a gem of a cafe! Gorgeous location. Really personable service. We had a coffee and a smoothie and both were excellent. Will definitely be back.

Recently opened from what I can gather. Very very friendly staff. Had the best Flat White I’ve had across all of Brighton and Hove. Will be revisiting as soon as I get time off work. Assured food will be here very soon as they are still renovating the place. Wish them all the best :) James

Very friendly welcome, good coffee. At the moment they are having a ‘soft’ opening with limited food but it’s going to be lovely!

It is a lovely cafe, situated half way between The Marina and Rottingdean, on the undercliff walk. The local Sussex ice cream is 'to die for'. Plenty of seating available, or you can take your purchases down on to the beach. There are also toilets here

Still a great cafe nice new chairs … paper cups not as good as mugs, no sign of home made cakes or anything…? Coffee watery. Sun shone and staff super nice.

Friendly staff. Excellent hot chocolate served in real mugs and good sized portion of cake. Reasonably priced. Nice touch today with colourful tablecloths.

Heaven on earth, a beautiful jewel of a cafe embedded in a cliff face overlooking the beach and sea. Delicious food and drink, friendly staff. Worth a drive just to lounge around watching the waves cascade on the beach.

Instant coffee only, cash only and the most basic of services. Impossible to fathom which days and what times they open.

Nice little cafe on the promenade between Brighton Marina and Rottingdean. This stretch and beyond Rottingdean is Brighton’s best kept secret, made better with a coffee from this place. Hard to believe this more tranquil experience is available literally just the other side of chaotic Brighton; great for chilled walks and dogs.

Great value for money excellent instant coffee for£1.70 and a very tasty cake.

No cards accepted on day I went luckily I had some cash.

Great tea but now in paper cups, although the home made cakes are still there. The bacon butties are no more, sadly. Iced coffee currently available which is great in the heat. It still has a friendly regular crew and is adjacent to the beach. It's opening, or opening hours, can vary greatly depending on the actual or possible weather and forget circumstance but are broadly mid morning to about 16:00 in the summer, in my experience.

£9 for two average pieces of cake and wishy washy tea.

Love stopping here when we cycle along the undercliff walk. They're always really friendly and it's a nice, easy stop off. And very reasonably priced too for bacon sandwich etc and cakes which they have delivered from local stores. Prefer the beach by here too over Rottingdean just because it's less busy.

After another bike ride I found myself here so thought it would be rude not to have a coffee - so glad I did - lovely cuppa and lovely service ,felt like I'd been going there for years so nice the staff were.

Been going here for years, have a nice under cliff walk then stop for a nice cup of tea and a piece of cake,or sandwich, icecream great place.

Very disappointed with this place, the lady was not very polite, we ordered some icecreams for the kids & 2 teas & a mocha for myself, although the ice creams where covered in ice they seemed to be OK the 2 teas where very weak & milky & my mocha was horrible. I returned with my mocha to ask what she made me & found out she used nescafe original (instant coffee granules) & a cheap supermarket hot chocolate powder! I'm sorry but I find it unacceptable for a cafe to serve a drink like that! I know it's not Starbucks but surely they can do better than that? I have a Delonghi coffee machine at home that makes as good as any other coffee shop & it only cost £50 (it even steams the milk 😂 ) she just used a kettle & no milk at all. I think its a great location to own a cafe yet it just isn't living upto standards I'm afraid & therefore I'm sad to say I have only left 1 star but if I return in the near future & see improvement then I will change my feedback accordingly.

Great little place to have a mug of tea or coffee and a snack on the underpass on a sunny day and watch the world go by. Obviously gets busy on a sunny weekend, but has quite a few chairs and normally people pass through quite quickly. Nice place to catch your breath, in the middle of a walk or cycle.

Love this place! The pebble beach, is dog friendly, all year, and gives way to bits of sand and chalk when the tide goes out. The cafe has outside seating, no inside. Round tables chairs, to sit n watch the beach, soak up the sun. If ur lucky! They sell lovely homemade cakes. Cooked snacks, Icecream,,cold drinks, hit drinks. All v friendly. My dog Poppy has even been given a few dog biscuits, on occasion. They have a dog of their own, a gentle greyhound.

I love this sheltered gem by the sea. Great cake and bacon sarnies, and friendly to boot.

Beautiful place to hang out. The cake is amazing! It's good standard tea and coffee here so don't expect to ask for mocca chocca dubryflip. Staff are very friendly. Well worth a visit.

Bought an ice cream. Thats it....but its on the beach so alls good.

An institution. A retreat for Brighton's to get away from the tourist hordes. An oasis with a great little traditional cafe that's been running for years. Shhh.. don't tell anyone.

Decent well paved flat walk between Saltdean and Brighton Marina,taking in Rottingdean and Ovingdean along the way. Café at Ovingdean undercliff walk provides tea,coffee and other drinks along with bacon sandwich/rolls etc,also ice lollies and cakes all reasonably priced.Seating available although fairly limited(all outside)Many rockpools at low tide to keep the children amused along the way,along with seabirds and wildflowers. Popular with cyclists,joggers and dog walkers. Beaches mostly clean and good for picnics and family day out.

Park up on the verge at St Dunstan's and follow the smell of bacon for a lovely cup of tea (in proper mugs!) and a slice of cake - gluten free too! Just don't ask for a Latté :-)

It was absorbed into the borough of Brighton, East Sussex, England in 1928, and now forms part of the city of Brighton and Hove. It has expanded through the growth of residential streets on its eastern and southern sides, and now has a population of about 1,200. Some of the current housing replaces earlier shacks of the type once found in Woodingdean and Peacehaven, built after the First World War. It almost abuts Rottingdean to the south-east and Woodingdean to the north-east, but still has open downland on its other sides, on which may be found a golf course and Brighton racecourse as well as some residual farmland. The name, which is Old English for 'the valley of people associated with a man called Ōfa', shows that the village has existed since Anglo-Saxon times. Little seems to have disturbed its peace since. It is sometimes said to have been attacked by French raiders in the known incursion of 1377, but there is no hard evidence for this. The historic village is a conservation area. Its focus is the 11th century St Wulfram's Church. This dedicationwas only ever found in two other places in England (Grantham and Dorrington, both in Lincolnshire - it has vanished at Dorrington). Many homes in the conservation area are converted farm buildings, and the most prominent houses are Ovingdean Grange and Ovingdean Hall. The Grange is the subject of legend. In 1857, the popular novelist W. Harrison Ainsworth wrote Ovingdean Grange, A Tale Of The South Downs, in which he described how the future King Charles IIstayed there for less than 24 hours before escaping to France in 1651, fathering a child in the process. In reality, the King stayed at the George Inn in West Street, Brighton. The Hall is a gentry mansion which was the birthplace of Charles Eamer Kempe, the stained glass window designer. It now serves as a language school for overseas residential students, Ovingdean Hall School. The majority of pupils are partially deaf or are equipped with cochlear implants. Longhill School, a comprehensive school, is on the edge of the village, with its postal address in Rottingdean. Among those buried in the churchyard are the inventor Magnus Volk, the stained-glass artist Charles Kempe and the distinguished lawyer Helena Normanton, one of the first female barristers and QCs. Also in the graveyard is a monument to the family of pioneer female medical student Sophia Jex-Blake, who is buried some 25 miles away in Rotherfield. The village has a single shop (a sub-post office) and no pubs. Just outside the historic boundary of Ovingdean is Ian Fraser House, better known as St Dunstan's, a famous residential and rehabilitation centre for blind ex-servicemen. It was also the home of 113-year-old Henry Allingham, the last surviving founder-member of the RAF and briefly the world's oldest man. Ovingdean is now the site of several proposed urban fringe sites due development under Brighton and Hove City Plan.
