Very nice people and good service and the fish and chips spot on. Last couple of times ive called ive had fishcake and chips and meat and potatoe pie and mushy peas. The fish cake was awful, you couldnt tell it was fish. The meat and potatoe pie was the same awful. The pastry soggy hardly any meat and a couple of diced pieces of potatoe. That is not the owners fault as presumably thats how they buy them. Best stick with the fish and chips which are very good. JL. .

Crinkle cut chips were a surprise, never had this before from a fish and chip shop. Not a huge fan but they were ok. The fish batter was golden and crispy/crunchy, it was excellent and it was a thick fillet.

We enter a new level of top fish and chips. An epic portion cooked as you wait, with a cheery chat. Absolutely top class. Note they prefer cash if possible, but take card's as well.

Best fish and chips we've had in years!! The batter on the fish is how I expect it to be but hardly ever is...lovely and crisp. Friendly staff too. Can't believe how many times I've driven past over the years and never been before. Can't wait to return 10/10 😃

On my first visit here several years ago I overheard a customer in front saying they come from Manchester for fish and chips here. I was thinking that I've heard it was good but that's commitment! Well, its been one of my firm (and pretty much only fish and chip shop) since! Generous portions, freshly made, great service which feels genuinely warm. You don't often feel you can say much about fish and chips - but when you need something a little more - this is more.

3stars for service as you are not allowed in the building for some reason so have to stand out in all weathers whilst you wait for your food, but once you have your fish and chips they are the best in Yorkshire

Ordered food at a very reasonable price and waited in car until ready. Member of staff brought the food out to the car for us. Wow unbelievable fish and chips proper traditional even wrapped in newspaper the best I have tasted in over 20 years. Couldn't recommend this place any higher absolute 💎

A friend recommended this fish shop to me. She said they were the best around, and she wasn't wrong! At present, they are taking orders at the front door. They may have their reasons for that. I don't know. But I wouldn't want to be inside a fish shop in this hot weather. My haddock& chips tasted just like they used to when I was a young girl. There are very few places that can cook UK's national dish nowadays, and it's for that reason that I hardly eat them. But, I’ll definitely be returning here.

Avoid 30 min wait for fish and chips from a chip shop even though only one waiting and it was a soggy mess when arrived.

Top quality fish n chips freshly cooked

Food is always good here, not been for a while though.. but still good, but why are we having to wait outside ? Not the good atmosphere it had before. Not sure I would be calling again though, prefer to just call in a quick chin wag, get served & be on my way.. not have to wait outside for your order to be cooked as you order it.. But food is always good.

Our local chippie. It has won prizes for its food. We call there as often as my diet allows, as I never can leave anything that I buy there regardless of how full I feel. You can buy mushrooms, collops, fishcakes and an assortment of other items in addition to the staple foods of fish, chips, peas and teacakes usually sold.

Proper, traditional, fish & chip shop, no fancy paraphernalia. OH who went there to collect our order says the people who run the place are lovely. The fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. I can't think of anywhere that matches this place for quality and customer service.

This is the best fish and chip shop around. We travel 18 miles 2 x a week. Proper chips like they used to be. 10/10. Lovely staff too.

Really poor. Ordered fish cake thinking it’d be a proper Yorkshire fish cake, we received a deep fried/cremated round thing that looked like it might once have been a fish cake. It tasted as bad as it looked. The fish was equally over cooked and none of the 5 portions of chips had salt or vinegar on them - despite asking for them - pretty disappointing for the child who only had chips! Apparently the pie was ok so not a complete all round disaster. We spent almost £30, waited 30mins and it really wasn’t worth it. Most of it went into the bin.

If you are really hungry and want fish and chips I don’t recommend going here the fish are really small and thin not good value for money 😳

The portions were huge! Good value for money and really nice. It was just a little uncomfortable getting squashed by the door everytime someone came in, due to lack of space. Maybe best to have it held open, although it was a very rainy day.

We go whenever we visit family in Huddersfield. The fish and chips are always delicious, perfectly cooked and brilliant value for money. We look forward to going again. Staff are very friendly.

Good old fashioned fish and chips

After moving from Huddersfield to Wales in 1988 we come back at times to visit family & friends but on this occasion we was in Huddersfield for a family wedding in the area thus we called at Outlane Fisheries for our tea on the Friday night & again on the Saturday lunch before the wedding. I used to get my fish and chips there quite regularly whilst we lived in Huddersfield especially in my childhood days & I must say we thoroughly enjoyed our fish and chips during our visit I loved this place in my childhood days and on our visits when we come up to see family & friends, 1 of the very best chippies in Huddersfield, fantastic, looking forward to the next visit to Huddersfield and YES to Outlane Fisheries, highly recommend to any1 that's in Huddersfield and cheaper than the 1s I got where I'm now living in Wales.
