A really great little place - perfect for a quick affordable bite, to set up your laptop and work (wifi access), a date or just a good coffee break. There’s a long bench inside along the window as well as some chairs and tables - more outside. The ingredients tasted fresh and the coffee was really good! Lots of flavour in the coffee which I really enjoyed! Staff are happy and friendly and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I hope to be back soon :)

Called 4x to put an order in for work and 3/4 times the phone was put down. On the 4th call a snotty female picked up and when asked why they’d put the phone down her reply was “yeah we’re really busy, what can we help you with”. No apology, nothing. If this is how a business has trained its staff to customers who want to actually put money INTO the business then it’s one that’s set to fail. I’m all for helping out independent businesses but this is diabolical service. There’s a way and a manner in dealing with busy times and putting the phone down and not serving customers is not it. I hope if this is the standard set by staff and owners of Out Of the Woods then it is quickly rectified as I shall not be recommending the cafe to colleagues for the time being if this is the behaviour of its staff. Extremely disappointed. Called today (3/9/24 @ 14.59) Granary Wharf shop.

First time there. Ordered an ice matcha with Vanilla, whoever made it put a way too much vanilla syrup in the drink. I couldn’t even take a few sips. I had to go back, which I felt bad about, I explained and they kindly made the drink again. Drank it again and it was just the same if not worse. So I don’t think I can make this my local unfortunately.

Lovely sandwich but I am not impressed with hygiene standards. I ordered a pastrami sandwich which comes with pickles. Girl who served me took them out of box with her bare hands rather than a pair of tongs or a fork.. it wasn’t busy at the time so it should have been done better. Edited to respond to reply: she used a fork to pick up pastrami but used her fingers for pickles. I thought she could have used the fork too for pickles?

Very nice cafe. Love the smoothies and toasted sandwiches. Hadn't been here since before Covid times, but the coffee has got smaller and the prices bigger. My husband had the tuna sandwich which he voted one of the worst, tuna was dry and there was no seasoning. Is there a charge for dining in here? as on my two visits here recently, I got charged more when I checked my bill. Not a good look trying to extract more dosh out of your customers.

Very slow service, I mean extremely slow… I waited 12 minutes for a cappuccino to go. The place is crammed and small so it feels hot and noisy. The coffee itself was very mediocre (Cafe Nero standard), the actual size was small and the paper cup had no sleeve so it wasn’t comfortable to keep it in my hand. Sadly, I won’t be back, but good luck.

Dropped in for a coffee and pastry before catching a train. Perfect setting on the edge of the canal and I can only imagine on a sunny day outside would be bliss (it was a typically rainy Leeds day on our visit). Coffees were excellent, cappuccino was perfect as was the oat latte. Pastry was fine, nothing to write home about but filled the gap. I would return as an alternative to the chains which populate the area.

Unfortunately, there are not many local cafés that are easily accessible from Leeds city centre. However this place is definitely amongst the few that were impactful enough to be breathtakingly memorable. The food, deliciously filling! I really appreciate the thick cut of the avocado on toast, making it a great breakfast option for a price point that seemed criminally low. The coffee, a tasteful piece of art! Before drinking, I felt obligated to take a photo in an attempt to capture the local talent behind running this checkpoint hidden in the bustling city centre. The mocha was sweet, frothy and chocolatey yet remained grounded by coffee's bitter nature. Despite this café being relatively hidden, it was easily accessible from the train station with it being within a 2 minute walk from the back entrance/exit on the other side of the canal so there is no excuse to pass by this gem. Finally, the atmosphere! As well as a place to snack, cafés are also a break from the day. Whether you are visiting by yourself or with others, break off from your daily routine and spend a few minutes here. You will not regret it.

Came here for breakfast with my friend Sophie. The positives include being able to sit outside and people watch, and the fact everything looked very lovely and the staff were friendly. The negatives include the fact it cost 7 quid for a small coffee and dry, stale, HARD, tasteless croissant. My iced coffee was alright but nothing special. The brownies inside did look okay. The best dirty chai latte I've had. From experience, the coffee blends used by the main chains don't work well alongside the chai element of this drink which is usually syrup. Out of the Woods uses (at the moment) Under Milk Wood from Darkwoods Coffee in Slaithwaite. This is the perfect blend to couple with proper chai (not the syrup!).

My daughters and I visited this cafe for a coffee at midday today. Sadly, we were disappointed by the customer service or lack of it. There were several people dining and the staff were busy preparing food and drinks, whilst we fully appreciated that they were working, we were left standing at the counter, waiting to be served for well over 5 mins with barely a glance from the staff and a rudely muttered “ won’t be long” !!!! Indeed, we felt that we were in the way and almost being a nuisance standing there. It was such a delightful cafe, the menu looked interesting and imaginative but we felt uncomfortable being there. Eventually we were served and our drinks were tasty, it was clear that they catered for all dietary requirements, as they had a variety of milks etc, but we won’t rush back and I wouldn’t recommend it, only due to the lack of awareness and rudeness of the staff, particularly the lady on duty. So as not to sound unreasonable, I must reiterate that whilst I fully appreciate that the staff were making drinks and preparing food, a smile and a “ sorry to keep you waiting, we’ll be with you in a moment”, would have been most acceptable and frankly polite!!!

Outstanding as usual, a great bar with fantastic selections of meats, cheeses and beer. What more do you actually need? Get yourself there for a cracking afternoon.

The bacon sandwich was nice but the bun was massive and 3 rashes of bacon wasn't really enough. £3.30 for a bacon sandwich is very good and was served throughout the day (not just in the morning) I couldn't see what type of bread I could choose so just said white might be an idea to have a sign or display the bread options.
