Just a few drinkies, nice enough.

Sound group of guys and girls working the bar. Great beers. Probably fair to say one of the quieter pubs at peak times but that's by no means a bad thing.

Had no food but great pub really nice locals 👌 beer spot on nice staff and brilliant karaoke 😀

Lovely day sat in the beer garden, parked in the car park didn't expect a week later to receive a £60 parking fine 😡 ( very expensive drink ) oh and the landlord fails to tell you about the parking rules! Lesson learnt! Won't be going there again!

Terrible parking policy. It's OK to have cameras to enforce customer parking, but you need to inform your customers when you serve them, and ask them for the registration. I suspect you deliberately don't tell people because you get a commission from every fine the parking company issues.

No food available at lunchtime, had to go to fish & chip shop. Staff couldn't remember which customer asked about food, so went and spoke to wrong customer left us waiting. No paying customer expects a fine for parking in a pub car park, so staff need to be asking all customers if they have a car in the car park. Terrible customer service all round.

It's a great traditional pub, with good atmosphere , good ales and food.

Just popped into the Red Lion for a pint on my way home on the 3rd April - I parked in the pub car park as I’ve always done previously and just received a parking fine of £100. When I phoned to complain I was told that there was nothing they could do as there were ‘signs’ . Apparently this happens a lot but they won’t take responsibility. The pub was dead and the Guinness was lousy. I’ll never set foot in the place ever again.

Nice pub and beer garden in the town centre. Make sure you sort any car parking to avoid fines. It is free to park, if you sign in on their tablets inside the pub.

Good beer, watched a match and played a game of pool after as they have contactless payment for the pool table.

Very friendly and helpful landlord. We asked if they had available of tnt sports to watch a game of football and the landlord couldn't have been more helpful. We will return next time we're on holiday this way again. Kind regards Chesterfield fc supporters.

A no frills Sunday lunch with 2 sizes of plate Small plate absolutely enough and came with a large dish of veg and additional gravy boat.

Lovely Sunday dinner for a great price. Came quickly all freshly cooked. Fresh veg cooked to perfection came in a big bowl and a big gravy boat which I loved. Service was great. Would defo call again after a walk 👍

It was ladies England final and the atmosphere was brilliant. Never been in before and the locals were really friendly with us. Be aware though if parking within the pub zone register your vehicle or you will be fined.

Very warm welcome from the bar man on arrival .. gave our dog Doug a few biscuits and fuss. Ordered 2 steak pie sunday dinner meals and it was lovely, young waitress very polite and offered extra gravy .. proper pub grub and pint of Prava all at a very reasonable price. Will definitely be back 😀

Had a reserved parking space for motorhome. Travelling with family from Germany, made to feel very welcome. Great Sunday lunch , tasty food and great service.

Lovely food and staff, all accommodating and went above and beyond to makesure we were all comfy and happy- dog and kid friendly too! No kids menu but still came out and offered my toddler chicken nuggets and chips. Great service😊

I have to be super honest here...it was a real mixed bag....family who chosen the Burgers, couldn't fault the food, looked and tasted lovely but the chips are clearly frozen packet bought and hard to cook effectively. Sunday Dinner on the other hand I would avoid like the plague. Meat was not good, mash was poor and had a vingar taste to it, roasts were burnt, veg was hard and barely warm and the Yorkshires were like bricks. I didnt want to offend and send back because its highly likely the rest would have been the same. I'm actually disappointed that a single venue can produce two entirely polarising dishes that looked like night and day.

Disappointed we couldn't eat outside, nor could we use our friends & family app, was told they didnt have it!! So one beer only & then left. Didn't ask if it was dog friendly even though we had our dog as we wanted to be outside in the lovely weather.

Firstly looked at the reviews . Looked promising. Oh how wrong was I . Ordered two beef roast dinners .. slab of beef tried to cut into it to no avail tried to bite into but it no avail. At this point I was afraid I could loose teeth . Mash out of a packet , veg between two very poor amount and not what we was told we would be getting. No peas? Orderd extra Yorkshire . Wow no filling in the Gorky dry. Too much pepper in the gravy. Actually vile . Yes we did try to eat it as we had already paid . Never again. Really horrible actually.

Lovely Sunday dinner, choice of large or small. Food came out fairly quickly, was hot, and VERY tasty! Dog friendly, too, so you can walk along the Weir beforehand. Nice to be able to book ahead, too.

Unfortunately our meal was awful. I had burnt chips and Lasagne which was pasta and cheese mostly. My mum had the roast pork. Burnt roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding was rock hard. Hardly anyone in there which I guess speaks volumes. Won't be rushing back there

I've just been today with my partner to this pub and food as well as staff were amazing! Weve just had a Sunday roast and gravy was unreal, spicy chicken burger was fresh and spiced up well. Nice and friendly atmosphere with valuable prices 👌 We are definitely coming back!

Came here with a couple of pals for a cold one, nothing silly, just a catch up while watching the football. Nothing to tell really. Landlord was pleasant enough.

Me and a Friend.Went in yesterday for some food . After having 5 pubs myself in London.Was disgusted when it turned up.Baguette was lovely.the chips had been cooked in dirty fat would not of severed them 2 a dog.When complainted the young man just laughed.Would never go again

Called here on my parents recommendation. I booked ahead for 4 people + 1 dog. We all had Sunday lunch. The main menu is for during the week I believe. The food was lovely. The staff very friendly. The pub was spacious enough not to be sitting on top of one another and has its own car park. But most importantly for me dog 🐶 friendly. Will happily come back.

It was a Sunday very busy with people ordering Sunday dinner very good atmosphere, I myself just popped in for a lemonade.

Great food, however for someone just visiting the town, difficult to get a seat even though the place was empty all most of the tables were reserved

Called on for a couple of drinks on Saturday afternoon. Dog friendly, the staff were friendly and whilst we didn't eat there the food looked amazing.

We dropped in here when returning to Oxford following Grandson’s Army passing out ceremony in Harrogate, 8 of us plus baby. We didn’t book, it was an off the cuff decision, and a very good one. The welcome was so friendly, no worries that we hadn’t warned them of our large party, just chatty and welcoming. Lots of attention by the locals given to our 4week old grandson. Fantastic pub food! Very generous portions, it was all great, but we’d particularly mention the chillis (both 5 bean vegetarian & meat), the fish finger sandwich…far more than just a fish finger sandwich with 3 pieces of home made battered fish, and the steak pie. Loads of veg & salad as well. The price for all 8 of us? Just £80 (includes 4 drinks) Staggering for us southerners, we’d expect to pay more than double that for pub lunch where we live for that number of people! 5 stars on scores on the doors, and I’m happy to give this friendly Yorkshire gem 5 stars on trip advisor as well.

Lots of Real Ale Cask Beers. Nice Lagers Karaoke on Saturday's.i had a fantastic meal as well. Superb value for money.

Called in for Sunday roast. Very generous portions, excellent food and friendly staff. Parking on site with electronic permit system at the bar. Dog friendly and provided water bowl and food treats for our dog. Thoroughly recommended.

called in with grandaughter ordered beef onion baguette and steak pie the beef baguette came with chips and salad the chips were delicious the steak pie was as granny made it came with chips mash or new potatoes and hot veg we finished up with pot of tea .it was all delicious and very good value .The guy behind the bar was most helpful will definitely be going again

Fantastic find, we stayed over in our VW Camper whilst passing through just chilling for my Birthday. Small private car park but YOU DO NEED REGISTER YOUR NUMBER PLATE. Friendly staff (and locals), good beer, great home cooked food at very reasonable prices (proper cooked chips). Landlord is a top bloke and very accommodating. Hope to call again. Thank you for a great Birthday surprise 🙏

First time visiting here in several months. It's definitely lost it's charm and atmosphere. It just felt cold and shabby. What a shame as it used to be a lively pub and the place to meet.

Worst food I have ever had. Had a chicken dinner and made me sick straight after. please for the love of god don’t go here if you are looking for some nice food. It also had a hair in it.

We went there today only because it was dog friendly and it really was our little spoilt terrier g had a bowl of water and roast beef in under 2 minutes plus everyone paid him lots of attention, pads and cuddles galore. Our food unfortunately took a bit longer cause to to people looking for a reasonably priced lunch like us. However the next time I am in Weatherby I will come back for more delicious lunch and bring the family and 🐕

Filthy dirty place, avoid at all costs. To top it off you get an extra bill 4 weeks later when they send you a parking fine. Wouldn’t feed the dogs with the food, hygiene looks like a 0. Get this turned into a proper, honest pub with homemade food and you might get some custom.

We visited this traditional pub in the centre of Wetherby before dinner. The service was very friendly. There was a good atmosphere with lots of locals and quite a few friendly dogs.

An adventure with interesting features in all directions

Large pub just a short walk up from the River Wharfe. Handpulled cask beers were Camerons Strongarm Ruby Red Ale, Black Sheep and St Austell Brewery's Tribute Cornish Pale Ale.

Not many pubs in Wetherby seem to do Saturday lunches.Red Lion does.Good portions, reasonable prices good service, can't ask for more than that.An enjoyable experience.

WHAT OUR FOR CORRUPT PARKING £100 NO SIGNS AT ALL DONE ON PURPOSE AS A MONEY RACKET MAKE SCHEME

We have eaten here before on several occasions but unfortunately this place has gone a bit down hill in the last few months, the staff are good but of limited numbers which have resulted in poor service. We ordered food as before but we were forgotten and we waited 45 plus minutes before it was noticed, eventually when it meal arrived it was the wrong item, I reluctantly accepted it but the food was almost cremated and oil laden. I originally ordered the sausage and mash, I got burnt sausages, snotty egg and greasy chips. The food was abandoned and we left. As I said the staff tried their best but it seems like the manager should have stepped up and sorted out the problems but was nowhere to be seen. PS we were not the only customers waiting around for food and as far as I could see the pub was nearly empty. Not good enough guys get your act together.

Food home made steak pie excellent and piping hot, service again excellent will be back again.

Excellent burger, lovely local pub

It was OK. The staff were friendly enough. The food was average pub grub. The ambience was a little tired. But not unwelcoming. The beer was excellent. It would be safe to say that this is a pub, and a locals pub at that. Which is pretty good, as it is unpretentious. If you want a gourmet meal then go elsewere. But if you want a good beer, fine company and the footie, then this is the place for you.

We call in and what a lovely meal we had. Very friendly staff wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Made my fiancee uncomfortable when she tried ordering food as if he didn't want too. A chap from behind the bar then asked if everything was alright and when my dad tried saying something he then waved his hand and said im not bothered. Utterly disgusting service never been treated like that anywhere. Food was 4 star though.

We came off the motorway, on a long journey northwards, looking for a dog friendly place to have lunch, and it was well worth the slight diversion. Great food, friendly service, and a lovely beer garden. Thank you all for making a long trip more bearable.

We were staying around the corner at the Mercure Hotel, fancied a Walk & a Beer, so Walked into Town. Found The Red Lion Pub, looked Good from the Outside, so decided to go in. Nice Friendly Local Pub, Friendly Barman & a Good Range of Beers. Well Worth a Visit.

The guy behind the bar was fun but the lady from the kitchen was miserable. We had just been on a long run been to Costa, Wetherby whaler and opted for a drink. Was told they wouldn't take a photo because we were advertising another places food. Get a grip. We purchased from you. We weren't eating other people's food in your establishment it was simply a bag!

We had an lovely lunch. It's definitely dog friendly. Good service, very good food (can recommend the roast of the day). The pub is very nice inside too.

Stopped off during a long walk, the food was excellent, served quickly, my husband said it was the best gammon he had ever had. Good beer and coffee too, topped off by sitting out in the beer garden. Recommended.

Came here on our way up North, good pub grub & excellent service, the girls couldn't do enough for us. Mu husband was even more chuffed with the televisions showing the GP & the horse racing. I'd certainly recommend for a cheap but good bite to eat

Very friendly with lots of local atmosphere

Friendly staff and customers, but expensive parking. I would regularly park at the end to pick up a curry from Wetherby spice, until I was fined £60 for parking there 14 minutes. Plenty of signs recently put up so I can't really complain. (although none of them mention the 10 minute allowance). The fact that parking worked out at £240 per hour means I will avoid at all costs and spread this lesson far and wide to make sure others don't fall into the same trap. Recommend the Swan & Talbot which is a two min walk. Felt extremely sorry for the staff member who must have to explain this multiple times per day.
