We (husband and 2 teens) stopped for a drink after the solar system trail earlier this year. We were immediately told as we stepped into the terrace that they were 'very busy and none of the tables were free'. We hadn't even tried to sit at this point. It felt like he was getting excuses in early. There were no reserved signs though, and many tables appeared empty, or were awaiting clearing. He did say that we could stand at a table with one seat if we wanted though. While he is saying all of this, a couple also arrive, and with no conversation with the man go and sit at one of the empty tables with no sign of this being a problem. We left then. It was clear we weren't welcome. Maybe we weren't cool enough maybe?

We're big escape room fans - we've enjoyed and successfully solved several escape rooms around Cambridge and further afield - so we came to do the escape room at OtherSyde, but we were very disappointed. There hadn't been much thought or skill put into designing it, we didn't even get to do most of it, and management were unresponsive when we tried to contact them. For the first puzzle, there wasn't much indication of what information we needed, but even once we knew that, there were two different sources for the information and they contradicted each other - and the actual intended answer was neither of them! The staff member kept having to come into the room, which broke what little immersion there was. The padlocks didn't work properly, so we tried a code and thought it must be wrong, but it turned out it was correct and the padlock was just not working. The staff member came in and couldn't get it to open either, so we had to pause while a maintenance guy came and cut it with bolt cutters. The "ending" of the game was weird - it looked more like a halfway point, and we hadn't used at least half of the padlocks, valves, and information charts in the room yet (it's reasonable to have some amount of red herrings on the wall, but this was more than that, it was clearly part of the game that we hadn't got to yet). The website promises "You will have up to 3 hours in the escape room. We usually find that the game takes between one or two hours to complete", but we only got a 45-minute timer (and completed it in less time than that), so I really think it was only the first third or first quarter of the game. We tried to query why we weren't getting to do the rest of the escape room but the staff member's explanation wasn't clear. I wrote to management about this and asked for a partial refund because we were only given part of the game we paid for. They initially didn't respond, then said they'd "investigate" and asked for our bank details, then stopped responding again after I gave them.

Incredibly picturesque spot by the river, relatively close to central Cambridge. Outdoor seats are highly recommended. I love coming here on a sunny day, enjoying the view with a drink from the bar. Pizza is great here as well, we were served super quickly even in a crowded hour.

The vibe and atmosphere at Othersyde is great. It's always a good night out and the staff there are super friendly. Pizzas taste great (some of the best I've had in Cambridge), although they are somewhat pricey for their size. As with everywhere in Cambridge, the drinks ain't cheap. Vedett on tap is something I particularly look forward to - Not to mention how cool it is to get a tarot reading on a Friday night. Wasn't expecting that...

This is a quirky little bar overlooking the river next to the Cambridge Museum of Technology. Some of the tables are repurposed architectural salvage from the museum which gives it a ruin pub feel. Our pizzas and garlic bread arrived promptly and were very large. Unless I am particularly hungry I usually share one with my husband. If you pick a table around the back you can watch the guy spinning them. The pizzas are lovely and there are some interesting veggie (and one vegan) choice as well as traditional meat toppings. Coffee is good here and you can get a lovely old school Pimms . There is a small but good selection of craft beers from local brewery Brewboard , Three Blind Mice and other local breweries. There is also a small indoor bar and cafe in the building with the escape games with local art on display. It is a great place to linger and chat. This isn't the sort of place where you are encouraged to leave as soon as you have eaten or pressured to keep buying drinks. It's also open from 9am and is popular as a safe place for outdoor meetings. You even get a few people who do the outdoor office thing. Two small drawbacks. The food ordering app works ok on android but doesn't play nicely with apple so you might have to order from the bar or borrow a friend's phone. Another one is access . There are steep stairs at the Riverside entrance. If you want to visit in a wheelchair and scooter you have to ring again and get them to let you in through the back entrance in Cheddars Lane But overall, this is a magical place with a lovely relaxed atmosphere and as far as possible from the dull chain pubs and cafes in the centre. If you don't like pizza, you could enjoy drinks here then head further out down Newmarket Road where you will find Corner House, Wrestlers and the Pipasha waiting to serve you pub food, Thai or Indian food.

A nice quirky place with chilled out vibes. The pizzas were good and inside we stumbled on some amazing cocktails and friendly bar stuff. Rebecca the Tarot reader was the cherry on the cake with an accurate reading which made our night fun and interesting. Definitely recommend this place.

We were looking forward to a night out with some friends - the first in a long while. On arrival it was busy, in fact so busy we had to wait for our booked table to be free. Never mind, we were shown to a place to wait and advised to download the app. Issue 1. To even look at the menu on the app you have to put in your table number which we were not yet at. Eventually got our table and then struggled for some time to get the app to work. It kept failing when we tried to pay! We asked one of the staff to take our order. Immediate response was "this is the best app in Cambridge". Or in other words "you might be the customer but you are wrong". Anyway, two rounds of drinks ordered at once plus some garlic bread to keep us going and pizzas. A manager type person came over to speak to us about the app issues clearly thinking that as we are older than the average for this cafe (although hardly one foot in the grave) that the fault was ours. Eventually he admitted they have problems with the payment gateway and with the latest iPhone we were using. The drinks arrived reasonably promptly and we paid for them on delivery to our table. Then after a wait the food turned up. Pizzas first followed by the garlic bread! The pizzas themselves were quite nice. No cutlery supplied so maybe cut into 8 rather than 4 pieces? The choice is fairly limited and while they tasted good they were, as others have remarked, small for the price charged. No-one asked us to pay for the pizzas. Being an honest bunch we called over a waiter and had to list out our order so we could be charged. Overall we had a nice evening but it was too much like hard work being a customer here and we are unlikely to return for food. Although maybe for a glass of wine by the river as the location is good.

My friends and I have visited OtherSyde a few times to meet up since lockdown started to ease, as its fairly close to where we all live and has a convenient booking system. I wouldn't recommend booking the 'iron yard' section unless you don't mind potentially getting pooed on by the birds in the trees above (in the 3 visits I've made a total of 4 of my friends have been pooed on). The front terrace and the covered back garden are both nice spots, and the back has the advantage of being covered if it rains. Its a good spot for casual drinks and light meals with friends, with a wide and rotating variety of drinks, but I wouldn't recommend coming here for a "meal out" as such - the pizzas aren't great (the dough was good but slightly too burned on the bottom for my taste, and the toppings are very sparse and the pizza quite small for the price you pay (£10-12)). Particularly if you are vegan you could get a better pizza elsewhere, as my vegan pizza only came with tomato sauce and a few slices of courgette on it. It was supposed to also be topped with pesto, pine nuts, and rocket, but these were nowhere to be seen which was frustrating, but I ate it without complaining to the staff as I was hungry and I knew I wouldn't be able to get a replacement as they shut the pizza oven after we got our food due to a leak in the heavy rain. The coffee stand/cafe that's open in the day serves really nice and reasonably priced coffees though, and oat milk is available. Overall, a very decent spot for meeting up with friends, but don't expect the best food ever.

The Othersyde is amazingly unique and has so much charm. The food is yummy and the staff have always been very pleasant. I'd say the waiting times have varied everytime I've visited but clearly I've not been put off because I love it! The App can be a little annoying to use but I put up with because of my love for the place.

Had lunch with friends, on one of the outdoor tables (not aware of any indoor ones). I am Italian, and I think the pizza was nice but VERY small and with scarce toppings (especially mozzarella). £11 for it is extremely overpriced (£10 for a tiny margherita), also considering the overall service (it's not exactly a restaurant, it's a courtyard with picnic tables, pizzas are served on a paper dish, no cutlery). Were it in the range of £7-8 it would be more fair, in my opinion. I don't think I'll ever go back for a meal again.

The only way to order was through this dodgy half malfunctioning app. Our pizzas took around 45 minutes to arrive and we were absolutely starving. The pizza bases were very good however they were small pizzas and they forgot one of our toppings, although this was quickly amended. I understand this is an outdoor restaurant however it was a bit concerning how no customers/staff wore masks in between tables and when serving. The staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was cute but I won’t be returning for food anytime soon.

Waited about 30 mins to be allowed to order food on the app, then nearly 2 hours for it to arrive. Pizzas were great but length of wait completely unacceptable. Won’t return anytime soon

We'd passed this place a few times so decided to try it for lunch after visiting the Museum of Technology next door. Not again. Our food - a pizza, a lahmacun and a flatbread (so not complicated) - took 40 minutes to arrive. It's not like the place was packed either. When it did arrive, the food was good, but we just had to wait too long for it. The drinks were also good (I recommend their own lager) and did arrive promptly, so on balance, a good place to go for a drink, but not for food unless you're seriously prepared to wait. Writing this, I see someone else had wait even longer than we did, so this would seem to be the way they are.

We decided to visit after getting a voucher and chose to claim it here. We booked a table and even though we turned up early we got a table. We were greeted by friendly staff and enjoyed a long chilled dinner. The Apple Crumble Cookie was amazing. Definitely recommend.
