Orwell's Brasserie in Hillingdon

Had a great two day conference here, and ate in Orwells a few times, food was great and fab customer service from Kennedy thank you

My wife has a Gym membership at the Hotel and has been a regular attender for almost 30 years. Part of the package was a voucher for a meal in Orwell's Restaurant in the Hotel. So last night we use the voucher and really enjoyed our meal and the service provided by all. Being a weekend the Hotel apparently is not busy and they run a reduced menu (by choices not size) in the restaurant, something that we were informed about on arriving. The service was excellent, the food well cooked and presented. No doubt when Betty receives her next voucher we will visit mid week and enjoy the full choices of the menu. All the staff were excellent but special mention must be made of Muriel who greeted us with a wonderful smile and Kennedy our waiter who insured all went to plan.

I've been staying here for best part of this month mainly weekdays. In that time I've been honoured to be under the guardianship of Issy in the morning at breakfast and Julian in the evening at dinner. Both of them have been very kind and super helpful. Keep up the good work guys. Regards, Omar

The food was not at all worth the £60 we paid. I kno they have you "captive" so will overcharge but the quality was just not acceptable.

A brightly-lit "cafe" style brasserie. We were there with American business guests and they thought it was good, but personally I thought it very average. Crowne Inn is, after all, an expensive place to stay and I think the food should be better. It was edible fodder and nothing wrong with it, but nothing very inspiring. I wouldn't rush to go back.

夕食はホテル内のレストランで食べた。 メニューはバーガーとかステーキがメインだ。 周囲の人が食べている料理を見て、美味し そうなものをもらうのだが、今回はあまりうまそうなものがなかったので、ステーキにした。 フィレステーキをオーダーし、前菜はシーザーサラダだった。 味はまずまず。 出張者が主体のホテルのレストランなので、あまり美味いはずがない。 ボリュームはたっぷり。 ヨーロッパの方々は、体型が大柄なので、たくさん食べないとやっていけないのだろう。 テーブルには、ワインリストしか載っていないが、ビールもある。 隣のバーから持ってくるようだ。 Stellaというビールだったが、ちょっと臭みがあってあまり上手くないな。 Becksの方が俺は好きだ。 あちこちのビールを飲んできたが、世界中どこでも美味いビールはあるのだな。

At the end of the day I look forward to a relaxing, soothing ambiance and meal. The meal was okay, but the music was "weird" and distracting, bordering on stressful.

During the stay in the Crown Plaza Hotel I also enjoyed the Restaurant. Good Service and nice Food with nice service

My girlfriend and I had one night at the Crowne Plaza and popped in here for breakfast. Full english for me, Continental for her, can't fault it. Will do the same again, a good way to set you up for a day of travelling.

Three of us ate here on our one night stay at the hotel, we shared 2 starters and they were good. the steaks were cooked to perfection.

Great choice of breakfast in the morning, clean area, lots of selection and staff that care about their jobs, shame it is a wasted restaurant in a shabby hotel

My Wife & I ate here recently during an overnight stay at the CP Hotel. Food & service were both excellent.Reasonable menu choice. They have good Chefs & Waiting Staff. Only downside is the prices. They were advertising a fixed price menu offer but we had to ask for it . It was not offered automatically.

Honestly recommending steak at Orwells which are cooked to perfection with slight salad, n chips and of course a Bottle Of passori which was exceptional recommend by our server kelly who is very agile & polite due to which her service was iincredibly outstanding. Finally sticky toffee (servers choice) was mind boggling topped with vanilla ice cream can't stop thinking about it. Ofcourse it did exceed our expectation by kelly whom we can't thank enough who started our holidays with a great service & experience. Thanks again

Good choice of food on the menu. Steaks are worth considering. Always eat here when travelling through to Heathrow.

I had breakfast today at Orwell's. Typically all hotels in UK provide the full English or Continental breakfast, even Orwells does, however the restaurant size and the ambiance was excellent. The buffet was beyond the full English breakfast.

Once again Orwell's delivered, this time a medium ribeye absolutely spot on, with a very nice side salad, thin potato chips, and a large portion of garlic herb butter. The restaurant is dimly lit peaceful haven secluded from the rush along the corridor with people checking in and out and generally running around. It is relatively quiet although there is a funny choice of music. But it is the steak that is most important. I can see other diners enjoying other dishes, perhaps I should try them next time.

What a great selection of breakfast items. Plenty of choice for hot items, including black pudding and the usual English breakfast items.Yoghurts and fresh fruit great for the health conscious. Nice selection of cold meats, cheeses, various breads and pastries. Definitely recommend.

Not a lot on the menu .over priced you have to add any form of side ..ie veg potatoes. Salad .extra price!! .I orders lemon some not good hardly anything of it ..so really I just had mash potato and 2 tiny forkful of fish...all deserts come only with ice cream ...I mean sticky toffee pudding should come with custard ..have to pay extortionate bill and go find something else to eat !! Not happy

Reasonable service and average food - but we didn’t have to venture out in the cold! The vegetable pie was tasty and hot and the steak pie ok but unadventurous.

We weren’t expecting much from a hotel restaurant but we were pleasantly surprised. My lamb shank was huge and very tender and tasty. Hubby’s seared tuna came cooked as he’s asked. The service was good throughout.

I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the service. The steak was one of the best I've had in a long time, nice surprise . I also enjoyed the Rose wine. I did feel the prices were a bit high.

Just had a good hotel English breakfast buffet here during a stay at the Crowne Plaza, and was pleased. Service was very friendly, and the price, while not cheap, was less than poorer offerings at some other nearby hotels, and for food of better quality. I'll try it for dinner next time.

Steak was tasty, good ambiance for having group dinner. Need to improve breakfast and bring some variation with chicken and beef, it was 100% pork.

In our two-day's stay we had one lunch and one dinner at Orwell's, and both were very good. The food was enhanced by the excellent service provided at both meals.

Well having stayed here a few times its always a toss up between the on site Indian or more expensive contemporary restaurants. Sadly, Orwell's has now falling into the over priced for average quality. The steak was slightly over and no mention was made of the marinade choice. Instead an additional of £2.50 for a sauce and 10% for service. What was really concerning was the emphasis on table turn-around vs customer experience. In this case the balance was simply wrong. Only 2 minutes between courses and the table cleared in less than 3 minutes from putting down a spoon! Come on Crown Plaza step it up or sort it out! Disappointed this time...

Was at the crowne plaza for 20 days on business. Had many choices of where to dine. Found myself eating here almost every night of my stay. Tried everything On both the regular and specials menu. Was not ever disappointed. Roasted half chicken, lamb shank and sea bass were amongst my favorites but you really cannot go wrong with any choice. The staff is remarkable also. Iggy, Demetrius, Roberta, Johnson, Stella. Also hard to choose a favorite. They will all make you feel at home. Basically you MUST eat here if you're in the area, even if you're not staying at the crowne plaza. Try everything.

This is by far the best experience I've had in an airport hotel. The staff were very attentive, in particular Johnson who was friendly and helpful. The food was of a very high standard and overall we had an amazing start to our holiday.

On a business trip with my wife. I enjoyed this hotel, and one of the reasons is the food options and vibe. We dined at Orwell's a few times - best gourmet burger I have had in a long time. The pie was also very good. I was surprised as hotel restaurants are normally disappointing.I believe we will do it again...you should try it..even if you are not staying in the hotel. Good service too!

I was staying at the Crowne Plaza for work, so decided to try Orwell's Brasserie as it's within the hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food came out quickly, was excellent quality and although I would say it was medium- well rather than medium-rare, it was still delicious. I had it with the sweet potato fries and pink peppercorn sauce and it was really nice. I do think that, at £34 for a steak and a glass of water, it is rather expensive but I suppose in this area, you are a captive audience as there aren't many alternatives nearby.

I had three dinners here over my stay and all of them were well cooked, tasty and good quality, the waiters were all polite and looked after all my needs,i only had one complaint about the cheese board which was poor, dried up cheese and bread and a real let down, they removed it from my bill which was more than expected, i felt the prices were a little high but then Hotel Restaurants next to airports seem to be. All in all i would go back again as the food spoke for itself.

The most impressive thing about this was the restaurant receptionist as I had visited Wednesday to ensure that 'we' could in fact dine there as we were meeting friends with a severe allergy. Not only was that sorted on Wednesday but the same receptionist remembered us on Saturday evening and remembered the exact allergy. This is a busy Heathrow Hotel and restaurant so a big well done there.The menu did not include the days specials but we were assured that these would be explained to us by the waiter - sorry but this just didn't happen.We didn't have starters but went straight for main courses and all had steaks that were very good. We didn't go mad on side dishes and shared two sweets between the four of us. To drink we had two half pints of beer, a bottle of red, a bottle of water and two small diet cokes. The bill for over £200 was excessive but the bottom line was that we were entertaining friends from Italy and we had a good time. We would visit again but there are lots of places less expensive with food just as good.

My wife and I needed a relatively quick breakfast prior to heading off to Heathrow to catch our flight back to Florida. Although we probably would have eaten at Orwell's anyway as it is located in the lobby of our hotel, we would certainly consider eating here again, even if we weren't staying at the Crowne Plaza. The food was hot and tasty, the service was excellent, and the price was reasonable. Definitely recommend.

Had dinner here as I was staying at the hotel. The food was nice and well presented. A bit expensive, but then you dont have much choice outside. However, it was nice, the service was quick and friendly. would definitely recommend

Often the problem with airport hotels is that the restaurant in the evening is also the location for breakfast. Not a great start and this is more like a cafe than a restaurantThe food and service is okay but overpriced

We decided to eat here at the tail-end of our holiday for convenience. And the convenience was the best part, because the food was average at best. Everything apart from steaks seemed to be pre-cooked, the chips were crappy McCain specials. £3.50 will buy you an incredibly small desert spoon full of coleslaw. My lemon and tarragon chicken was OK. Our server, Farah was very good indeed. She seemed to take most things in her stride, despite it being quite busy. The kids buffet was pretty poor. More frozen fayre. Food has moved on in the world since 1996, unfortunately Orwells are still in the dark ages. You'd get the same at the Hungry Horse for a 1/3 of the price, and it probably came from the same frozen distributors.

We were sent to this hotel, Crowne Plaza, Heathrow, by Delta Airlines because our flight to Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, was cancelled. We were given three vouchers for meals. One for lunch, dinner and breakfast. We were not allowed to order off the menu. We were shuffled off to a sectioned-off area where we were served a buffet of rice and fish sticks; salad which consisted of iceberg lettuce and tomatoes ; a chocolate cake for dessert. The real kicker was when the manager advised us that we could only have water to drink. No coffee, soda, milk, etc. I thought the vouchers would have a monetary value and we would just order from the menu and pay the difference. WRONG!!! Dinner was exactly the same except the fish was replaced by a frozen turkey roll with the same sides. Rude--Rude--Rude The manager was as rude as could be and that was our last night in London. I vowed no to spend a dime is his restaurant!! I still don't know whether or not Delta is aware of this operation with the meal vouchers!

Ate here and food was tasty and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and helpful and we didn't have to wait long for our order.

Returning late and needing a proper meal? At Orwell's they serve you quick at reasonables prices a very good burger and curry. I can highly recommend both. Large selection of beers on the rap and also bottled beers served cold, like Peroni.

This restaurant was popular, there was a good choice of food and a children's menu. The food was nice and hot, the service was very good.

I ate dinner here every night, for the six nights I stayed at the Crowne. I must say the food and the service were among the best. So what did I have for dinner? Roasted Hake w/ mixed green vegetables. The fish was incredible-both times-the last with a garlic herb marinade. Two words: succulent and flavorful. The next night, the roast chicken-awesome! Moist and tender. That tarragon butter would taste good on a dirty sock! Last night, the pan roasted trout. And tonight, the surf and turf. A Ribeye cooked to perfection; topped with tiger prawns. The most tender shrimp I've ever eaten. These prawns completely upstaged the steak they were supposed to compliment. Well executed, chefs!Most notable: Stavrina (Hostess) and Farah (Server). These ladies brought a certain energy to the dining room, no matter how busy the place was. They seem to have a flare for their craft. Farah is bubbly and energetic; while Stavrina provides a warm welcome that let 's you know you've come to the right place for dinner. Let's just say, it was obvious to me when the two were not working. And the team of chefs was superb. I have eaten at some great restaurants around the globe; and these guys and gals were truly among the best!What I liked least: Some of the tables were unstable. Be sure to check before sitting.

Late dinner after a restful day and a swim in the pool. Restaurant already starting to turn down and get ready for breakfast, and only a few table still occupied. I have deliberately come back to Crowne Plaza for Orwell's because I liked the steak last time. And it is still great this time: juicy, just right (medium rare) and with the minimum fuss. The open kitchen allowed me to watch the chef at work, and he actually checked every piece of meat for tenderness to judge how rare or well done it has got to - it is a delight to see him working on my meal with so much care and detail I had to go and thank him afterwards! No wonder it can be very full during normal rush-hour, and I see people coming in just for dinner and then leave.

Took advantage of a meal deal added to an overnight and parking package. It worked out at good value for a 3 course meal from a set menu. The food was very good and the waiting staff very attentive.

I ordered a half roast chicken and paid extra for a side of chunky chips. The chicken was very dry and the chips were not chunky.This cost over £20 all in an I would have expected better. I did have breakfast here the next morning however, and that was very good. On the plus side, the staff were very friendly.

Early Friday evening dinner, party of two. Meals were very well prepared and waiters (yes, two) did an excellent job of taking care of two travel-weary patrons.

This bar seems always to be busy.We had one drink and service was prompt and good.Enough seats for most guests and a good atmosphere.Also very good prices in general.

The quality of the food was good, the service was friendly and efficient. The ambience of the restaurant was rather gloomy.

The restaurant offers a good selection of meat and fish.I tried the Brazilian Picanha and I really enjoyed it.Usual service you would expect from a busy hotel.

We were a group of 14 and the restaurant was perhaps 25% full. Service took ages. Beverages were brought over from the bar by the glass. The steaks were consistently overcooked (ordered medium arrived as very well done). One steak didn't make it to the table at all. Side orders came 5 minutes after or before the main dish. They didn't have the wine that we chose from the wine list.We complainted several times and they eventually (silently) offered ice cream on the house. Also after some negotiations the bill was halved and they provided a bottle of wine.Just for the sake of completeness: The next morning on check-out there was a dinner wrongly billed to my room that had nothing to do with our group...Staff was very friendly but ... helpless in a way.

As you can see by the photo, it is very dark in here !! As per my review of the hotel it is a shame as it really spoils it. Also not approached for a pudding course or second drink. This is a shame as the food is good and the staff are friendly when they do speak to you !

Open kitchen so you can see your food being cooked, breakfast in the morning there is self service and excellent quality and you can eat as much as you want.

A relaxed atmoshere, with the kitchen in clear view made for an enjoyable time. A 'dish of the day' is an additioon to the standard menu offered. Our food was served well, in timely fashion and lived up to expectations. It is off the hotel lobby, so not especially 'intimatye', but it acieved what it set out to do.

The steak was excellent. I liked that. And the wine was good. This and its closeness to Heathrow will make me visit again.

We had our hearts set on the adjacent Indian restaurant in the Crown Plaza, but it was fully booked on this holiday weekend. We opted for Orwell's, which had tables available. This turned out to be a fortuitous choice, as we were rewarded with excellent food and service in a pleasant atmosphere. The hostess was friendly and efficient, quickly readying a table for us. Our waiter was friendly, knowlegible, and as we experienced, exceedingly proficient at his job. The menu was fairly extensive, and the wine list, very good. Our food, from the first course to the last, was delicious. As an example, we opted for the "bucket" of assorted breads at nominal cost. All were baked in house and were absolutely wonderful. We both ordered lamb shank as entrees. When delivered hot out of the oven, it exceeded our wildest expectations. The meat absolutely fell away from the bone and was seasoned to perfection. We have never had better. We noted that we were surrounded by a lot of local people (some with very well-behaved children). This says a lot for a hotel restaurant. We also had breakfast the next morning at Orwell's, which was equally excellent. This place is great, not just for "a hotel restaurant", but by any standard.

I had a very nice dinner with a Middle Eastern flare. Had to eat off a limited menu as I had missed my flight due to a delay on the incoming flight. Nevertheless there were several excellent choices and the two dishes that I had were surprisingly tasty.

Menu - I found it a bit poor for people who experience allergy situations, or even for these who want to stay healthy. However, they try to find a solution for you, which is more important. Service - in general is ok, until I found Indre, amazing team member. She gave me service for a Michelin star restaurant, and I highly recommend you - to find her, when you arrive at the restaurant. I believe, she is hospitality professional, with a very bright future in front of her.Booking a table is recommended, if there is a conference happening in the hotel.

Food was good but I found it expensive. The layout was nice and you can see the chefs at work. The steak I had was delicious, although the chips were a bit 'normal'. For the price I paid £22 for a 6oz steak and chips, I would have expected a little more upmarket chips rather than ones that would not be out of place at Macdonalds.

Varied menu and good quality food. Rather pricey but as expected for 4*hotel in the area. Professional and friendly service.

Before reading this just remember that this is a very good hotel very close to Heathrow so prices are always going to be towards the top end of the market.We attended here, on recommendation, are were not disappointed. The service was of a very good standard and we had an unhurried meal in good surroundings. It was a Thursday night and the restaurant was quiet so maybe lacked a bit of ambience.Food was very good.A three course meal for four with two bottles of wine and initial drinks cost about £220.We would not dine here regularly because of the cost BUT nothing wrong with it at all and would return if money allowed.
