La Belle Epoque in Hillingdon

We enjoyed the three course menu - scallop, guinea fowl , crème brűlèe and apple tart. All were so tasty, with lots of little twists. Our waitress, Reena, was attentive,and friendly. We would definitely reyturn.

The food was really quite poor. We've eaten at a lot of accredited restaurants and I struggle to understand how this place has a AA rosette. We thought we'd eat here before a flight the next day, and while the hotel was lovely, this restaurant wasn't. Some of the food was really unpleasant (tomato salad starter), while others were badly under-seasoned (risotto) and to pay £70 for a chewy steak with a single, small shitaki mushroom was ridiculous. Don't waste your time and money eating here.

Spot the difference between these 2 servings of the same menu item 🤔 (ordered 2 days apart). One, very nicely presented. The other looks very much like there was no care put into plating it.

Excellent food, attentive waiters, cannot fault - worth a trip out from central London even if not travelling - must be one of the best French restaurants in London.

We honestly weren't expecting much considering the state of the Sofitel (5 stars is really a stretch). We were pleasantly surprised. The service was perfect and the food absolutely delicious. We had the couscous, tomato salad, fish, and Cornish game hen...all were excellent. Oh, and the desserts were great as well. Highly recommended!

The service was very average after not getting a starter and missing a drinks order. Food was acceptable, however was way too small. Poor value for money.

An absolute disgrace of a steak, for 44 pounds plus VAT and Service charges. We all complained to the staff, that was not the issue at all, and they basically said it was what it was. Average quality at best, and totally unacceptable quantity for the price. I will never return or recommend this place again, on a bill over 1000 pounds for the whole table, where 5 of us almost stopd up and left.

I usually have supper in Sofitel’s Club Millesime when staying before a flight, but I don’t find it as good as it used to be, so on this occasion I decided to have a ‘proper dinner’ in the Belle Epoque instead. Excellent idea! It’s a pleasant space, and the staff were excellent, discreetly and respectfully welcoming to a solo diner, and offering advice without being pushy or patronising. I had the Guinea fowl, a complex and delicious dish, prepared and served with care. Sandeep was exceptionally knowledgeable and thoughtful about both the food and the wine (I chose from their special list, another worthwhile decision). Altogether a most agreeable experience, and a restaurant I’d happily go to again - looking forward to my next visit.

Everything we had was delicious and beautifully prepared and plated. Our service was meticulous and friendly, and the staff was very accommodating, even making a very specific mocktail my husband requested and getting it right. We were very jet lagged and had a long day trying to work out a flight that was cancelled, so we were dead tired and can't remember what we had, but it was excellent!!!

This is a top notch restaurant with great Ambience. The food is simply fantastic. All the dishes ordered were much above delicious. I have no words to comment on the food. Superb... fantastic ... is not enough. Made to perfection. I met the chef in person to to convey my gratitude and appreciation. Chef Thamara is a superb Chef. I came to know that she has won may Gold medals from all over the world , including inn the culinary Olympics held in Germany. She has been selected as the best chef in many of the competitions around the world. No wonder why the food is of the highest class. Thank you very much Chef Thamara!!!!!. The food was excellent, the choices were limited but they were done to perfection. The best was the hospitality and the service. Mr. Arup was an excellent waiter with full knowledge of the menu. If you are looking for fine dining near Heathrow airport then this is the one .

Fantastic meal, delicious food and well prepared. However, the standout for me was the service - led by Gilroy - which was attentive, polite, friendly and made the evening very special. Thank you Gilroy and team for such a memorable evening!

Not great, fairly standard but no attention to detail, carrots still had their tops on and hadn't been trimmed, green beans were untrimmed, average food, quite uminspiring, bloody expensive for what it was!

The last time I dined in this restaurant was shortly after the Sofitel opened in 2008 when there was significant Roux brothers' influence, so I wasn't sure what to expect since that direct influence completed many years ago. I need not have been reticent! This was by far the best airport hotel dining experience I've ever experienced, by some distance. I'm partial to a vodka martini as an aperitif, but 90% of the time it's not made to my liking, usually down to the garnish or dryness I request. It's become a bit of an informal test for me, if you like. Dry, clean, Grey Goose, wedge of lime. It's the wedge of lime that usually gets lost, followed by too much vermouth, then occasionally I find it dirty (with a brined olive thrown in). Well, this was up there with the best vodka martini I've ever had. From this point on, I could tell I was onto something good. As well as the published menu, there are accompanying dishes of the day. I had two starters (the menu read too well!): the Soufflé Suissesse from the main menu and an asparagus dish from the daily specials, accompanied with Lamb Diablo, another dish of the day. All were well executed and rpesented, and the the Soufflé Suissesse was particularly good if you like your cheese. I polished this off with a Chocolate Délice. I went for wines by the glass (my choices) with each course: o Terre Antiche Gavi di Gavi, Piemonte, Italy 2021 with the asparagus; o Laroche, Chablis Villages ‘Les Chanoines’ Burgundy 2022 with the Soufflé; o Chateau Mouras, Bordeaux, France 2015 with the lamb. While none of these were perfect unicorn wine pairings, none were bad either, and I was glad that there was at least some selection by the glass. An oaked white by the glass on the wine list would be welcome for my tastes, particularly for the Soufflé. Now this wasn't a cheap night out, pricing is certainly Michelin level £183 incl. service), but for such excellent food and service (smiles, eye contact, perfectly attentive and chatty when solicited) I could not fault it. I note that one reviewer complained of the price, "average wine" and "nothing remarkable", referring to the hotel having a "monopoly". I'd strongly suggest that they seek out The Globe pub in Terminal 5 land side departures next time. Don't make the mistake I did once here a few weeks earlier, where, when I requested directions to the "fine dining restaurant", I was sent to the Vivre restaurant, which offers a completely different dining experience, and "fine dining" certainly isn't part of it! I'm not sure why this restaurant doesn't make it into the Michelin guide. While it might not quite be worthy of a Michelin star, it's certainly as close as I've encountered at an airport. Note it's only open 6pm - 10pm, Monday through Saturday. I had trouble with the online reservations working, so I had to call down to reception to book my table. Although it's open to non-residents, La Belle Epoque is the single best reason to stay at the Sofitel.

We last visited in 2018 and had a delicious lunch. They only serve dinner now so decided to give it a try. It was a special treat for us so opted for the special, which included a bottle of decent champagne and three courses from the main menu. The food was delicious as before but was barely warm which warranted one star less. The chocolate dessert looked like it was made in a factory and dressed at the restaurant but may be totally wrong on that. Service was very good.

A fabulous gormet dinner at La Belle Epoque at the Sofitel at Terminal 5 London Heathrow. The soufflet appetiser was the star of the night, recommended to my by my server Simerdeep, who was wonderfully attentive and helpful the entire night. The duck was the main course, also delightfully prepared with mango and olives, an unusual preparation that was fantastic. Thank you Simerdeep for your recommendations and a lovely dinner.

I rocked up here while transiting through London Heathrow and doing an overnight at the Sofitel Hotel in which this restaurant is situated. I expected standard-issue airport hotel fare, but the amuse bouche was beautifully flavoured, the scallop starter superbly cooked and the braised ox cheeks were as good as I’ve ever had. I don’t know who their chefs are, but they deserve a pay rise. The serving staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. This place was an unexpected pleasure!

Positives :- Efficient , professional , polite and cheerful staff. The Amuse Bouche at the start of the meal After that downhill in terms of food. Starters : Ballotine of trout OK but had better £36 for 2 Main : Duck breast -tough over cooked £38 Cornish Hake - adequately prepared but small portion £39 Wine : Bottle of Merlot , a fairly standard Merlot which we drink regularly at home £40 Total incl service charge £179.55 .Very poor value for a very average meal. Had far better as we eat out quite often. Won't be returning.

This restaurant is one of the best I have had the pleasure to dine at. It is located in the Sofitel Hotel, T5, London Heathrow. The ambience, decoration and layout is supberb. You wouldn't think you were at an airport hotel next to a busy terminal. The restaurant has a very sophisticated, calm feel to it and you know as soon as you walk in that you're going to get quality food and service. I was not disappointed! The food was outstanding as was the service. A very special thank you to Reena, Raul, Sandeep, Gilroy and Sujeewa. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

After a long flight we were ready for a relaxing dinner in a quiet comfortable location. This restaurant provided us with that experience. The staff were welcoming and professional. The food was very good and we sent our compliments to the chef who did a good job on food presentation. We would especially like to say a big thank you to Sujeewa who served us, a real character who made us smile many times during our visit. Yes, perhaps a little expensive but a treat for a once in a while experience. We will definitely be visiting again on future holidays.

We stayed at the Sofitel overnight for a flight next day, and ate at the La Belle Epoch. We had no starters, 2 main courses, one ice cream and 2 bottles of average wine. The food was just OK, nothing remarkable and only the the main dish, potatoes and veg etc were extra so we didn’t bother. This came to over £200 which I personally think is ridiculous, if you’re staying at this airport hotel, the two restaurants have the monopoly…and boy do they milk it!!!

Not a complainer but this “fine dining” restaurant should be closed. From the start… service awful, server recommended the beef tartar and it was cooked and almost burnt. When I asked why it was so well done he stated it was cooked a few hours ago. Pork was just as bad. Overcooked and strange taste. My daughter and I have been to many wonderful dining experiences and this was by far the worst. Check came and he added gratuity as optional. When I removed it he chased me and proceeded to start to make excuses for the bad service. I nicely let him know that our empty cocktail glasses sat on the table for the entire night and he had the nerve to blame my daughter stating “she told me to not touch it”… a complete lie. Longest review of my life and a waste of energy but please stay away from this restaurant if you are expecting a 5 star French dining experience. It was less than 1 star! Shame on them!

The restaurant manager was very accommodating allowing us to book a table towards the end of the evening, we were so grateful. The food was stunning. Amuse Bouche of pea/mint custard with fluffy warm bread. Creamy foie gras. Succulent lamb and soft flaky hake especially prepared for our young daughter. Desserts were beautifully presented and had the perfect flavour combinations. The staff Benjamin (professional service with chat to relax the group-very friendly), Georgia, Minayi and Simerdeep worked hard but I did feel that extra staff may have helped.

We ate here the night before our holiday whilst staying at the Sofitel. Much like the rest of the Sofitel the service was impeccable from the moment we walked in. The staff were all really friendly and very helpful with advice re wine and menu choices. Each course was very well made and presented impeccably as well as, most importantly, being very very tasty. The menu wasn't too long but the choice was varied. Prices are somewhat high but let's not forget it's a) hotel dining and b) airport dining, so you are paying for the convenience. It is very well worth it and I will eat here any time I stay at the Sofitel from here on out.

A true gem of a restaurant! Peaceful, spacious, great decor, flawless service, and excellent food. I especially enjoyed the complimentary mini appetizer and dessert. There must be fancier, more appropriate words to describe those, but I know them not. Truly top class service! Very attentive, prompt, and kind. There were about 4 to 10 customers both times I dined.

I have never eaten here after four attempts. Tonight after calling the receptionist and asking again, how late is “La Belle open?” it’s open till 10pm” but if you arrive at 9:30 they refuse to seat you. Putting the chef’s persona agenda before the restaurant’s hours of operation goes to show you just where their priorities lie.

We checked into Sofitel as we had an early morning flight. At check in we were told there was no need to book the restaurants. Went to Belle Epoque at 7.15 and were told they couldn’t serve us for 2 hours. Restaurant had many empty tables and the manager said they had a party of 12 coming in so they were too busy to serve us. This is an expensive airport hotel and airport restaurant. Rude service. Very unhelpful . Won’t be staying again

Met up with friends who were staying at the Sofitel (Term 5). Dinner in La Belle Epoque was excellent. The food was delicious, every mouthful devine....compliments to the chef! The service was excellent too..... Raul & Georgia were both very professional, friendly, attentive & all with a smile.....just as you would expect from a first class restaurant. Would certainly eat there again.

I am so tempted to send my personal email address to the chef who imagined this menu so we can track him...so imaginative and truly exquisite pairings. We have stayed at this hotel a number of times recently and my partner has asked to book dinner here and I had resisted each time as the menu did not appeal to me on the face of it. I finally relented and did not expect much but after eating here on our last trip, I truly wish I could convey that the descriptions could never actually do justice to the experience. First experienced the chicken liver and foie gras parfait. I have had red onion chutneys and suchlike married with various cheeses over the years on various breads and would never have imagined it like this but this was a magical pairing, particularly with the brioche. Then had the poached plaice for main, I never choose fish for my main as it is usually so, so boring...not so! Wow, who could have imagined such an interesting dish just bursting with flavours so very complimentary?! This evening meal just blew me away as it reminded me of a meal we had away in a restaurant with a Conde Naste young chef of the year restaurant in the far east...truly spectacular. So I am torn...please, chef, still be here when we return soon. The service staff were exceptional and attentive and had listened to our comments about the food and hopefully conveyed them to the chef but I fear they also fear his imminent departure for his brilliance...

I had made a reservation online and when I arrived at the restaurant the host seemed most irritated and stated that there was NO reservation, but he could see what he could do (the restaurant was almost completely empty). The wine was the biggest disappointment of the evening. None that I tried gave any enjoyment at all. Most regular pubs serve equal or better wine, in my opinion. This feeling was shared by other diners nearby me, as it seemed we were all underwhelmed by the wines we were trying. A big let down. At least the sub-par wine list introduced a platform to mingle and chat with other lovely guests. The main fish was ok, accompanied by sparkling water. I left the spinach gratin side almost untouched. Almost raw, undercooked, spinach floating in liquid cream did very little for me. The side was deducted off the bill as was the starter that they had forgotten about earlier. They did ask, after finishing the meal, if I still wanted the starter but I said no thanks. The waiter, Benjamin, was very friendly. And the bread was really nice!

I would have given 3:5 stars if the system allowed me. I would say the dinner was good but can’t rate it very good. The appetizer I had (ham hock terrine - forgot the exact name) was very beautifully plated but tasted a bit bland....

My wife and I regularly stay at the T5 Sofitel when we’re catching early morning flights. This time we dined at La Belle Époque the evening we arrived. We will be sure to plan our future trips to dine here every time we stay…it was amazing. The atmosphere, food, wine and staff were all superlative. Our waiter, Kristian was incredibly attentive, polite, informed and efficient. His engaging personality was a highlight of the meal. Das Restaurant gehört zum Sofitel Heathrow. Dort haben wir auch das Essen für den Abend mitgebucht. Bei unserem Besuch wäre eine Reservierung notwendig gewesen, was mich schon ein wenig überraschte. Trotz vollem Restaurant war das Essen aber perfekt. Nur der Service (wenn auch verständlich), war etwas gestresst. Aber alles sehr professionell und freundlich. Das Menü umfasste mehrere Gänge und jeder Gang war hervorragend. Es war auch möglich zu jedem Gang ein Glas passenden Wein zu bestellen, was ich sehr genossen habe, und ich auch empfehlen würde. Not expecting to be in the UK for Valentine's Day (change of business commitments), I admit the venue was a last minute choice but I had heard good reports and we are always keen to try somewhere new. I am delighted to report the quality of the food was superb. The skill in the kitchen was undeniable and the presentation as one would expect in a fine dining establishment, which are few and far between in the area. The table service was highly professional and attentive without being claustrophobic. To be honest, neither of us are fans of tasting menus but it was the only choice on the evening. However, each course was delicious. There is no avoiding the fact that the restaurant has been created within an open space, and when looking up, hotel floors are visible. It is a shame it is not a conventional room where a more intimate atmosphere would be easier to achieve. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will return soon.

We hadn't booked and were asked to wait in the bar for 15 minutes, not a problem.... We were soon called and shown to our table, being informed that the 15 minute wait was so the chef can concentrate on the food and not have multiple orders stacking-up all at once...great informative service and makes good sense...The al la carte menu is basic but there was enough for us to chose from....we were served with a mushroom veloute (soup) as an amuse-bouche to start which was delicious!Starters: My wife had the torched mackerel which came with a mackerel pate & sourdough toast and I had the glazed salmon with broccoli and pan fried squid (see pictures).....both were simply to die for!!Main: We both had the hake with warm tartar sauce, braised leeks and parisienne potatoes......the cooking of the fish was to perfection and the sauce very unusual and again, absolutely delicious!!The Cheese Board consisted of the cheese trolley being wheeled over (15/20 different cheeses on it) and the waiter going through each cheese in turn...then you get a choice of 5...all were well kept, runny (where they should have been) and to room temperature....our request to share and get more crackers was quickly sorted. This is some of the best food I have tasted in a long while (and I eat out a lot!) with stunning cooking, fresh ingredients, a lovely atmosphere and perfect service that was top-draw.......10/10 for a great night!!

Always look forward to booking into Heathrow and La Belle Epoque. The food and service is excellent, the staff change over the years but that does not alter anything, but for the loss of a friendly face.

Really enjoyed our meal here. The service was outstanding and the food, delicious. Couldn’t find fault with any aspect of the evening. I’ll be returning again in the near future.

We almost always stay at the Sofitel when we're flying from LHR, and almost always come to La Belle Epoque for the tasting menu. If you pre-book it's only £59 for six courses which is fantastic value for food and service of this standard. The restaurant itself is very pleasant, with an relaxing atmosphere. You'd never guess T5 is just a few minutes' walk away!

We just tried the tasting menu and it was a great experience. Especially the truffle risotto and the bailey's chocolate dessert. Thanks to Andrei and all the staff

We visited and stayed at the sofitel the valentines meal which was a set tasting menu was fantastic. the staff were great attentive without being in your face a great experience all round hotel great and so close to the terminal 5

I have begun to stay at the T5 Sofitel on my way to and from India and decided to try La Belle Epoque as I wasn't satisfied with the other main restaurant in the Sofitel. I have to say I found the food and wine of excellent quality, the service very attentive and the seating very comfortable. I will definitely be returning!

Have eaten dinner here on many occasions and have never been disappointed. The food has always been exceptional, the wine first class and the service faultless.

Took my girlfriend here for valentines day. Excellent service and very nice and romantic atmosphere. The food was excellent, some of the best i've ever had anywhere. Definately will go back.

It’s been a while since our last visit, happily the quality and standard of food and also the level of service was just as good as we remembered. Flavour, attention to detail and presentation was outstanding. Nice to see staff had taken note of my gluten intolerance and presented special tasty bread without any fuss or being made to feel abnormal? Nothing much pudding wise on offer to allow for allergies, but the petit fours with fresh mint tea certainly made up for it!

My wife and I have stayed at the Heathrow Sofitel several times, and dinner a La Belle Epoque is now something we really look forward to. The quality of the food is excellent and the service has always been of a high standard. We are grateful to Andrei who was very attentive and knowledgeable and managed to be both professional and friendly. It was a very enjoyable dinner experience.

NYE 2019 A Great Ending & A Fantastic Start to 2020.

For an 'on airport' hotel restaurant we were surprised by the quality of the food and service.. both of which were of a high standard. We all chose different dishes and all were v.good to excellent. The wine list is diverse and should suit all tastes. There was nothing to dislike

This was a very lastminute booking - As the place I initially wanted was booked up!

We enjoyed the visit each time. Our compliments to the chef and the lovely staff working there. Also very friendly with children.

Welcoming and classy, La Belle Époque was a wonderful experience of fine dining. Having booked this for our anniversary, it was a great choice and the wine was beautiful, not to mention the caring service. We would definitely recommend this place :-)
