We stopped for dinner as part of the Christmas market that was taking place in the White Bear car park. The food was great, (even our dog got fish and chips from the dedicated Dog Menu that they have) and Rory is absolutely fantastic. He is incredibly friendly, nothing is to much trouble and he loves to come around and chat and make sure everything is as it should be. We went in with our 5 month old baby and dog. The dog got spoilt to treats and cuddles and attention, and meant we could focus on the needy baby! Lovely food. Great place, fantastic staff. Thanks for a great evening.

Last visit, over-charged and only realised when I got home and looked at the receipt. Food is hit and miss and would like to see more on the menu as it’s limited. Christmas menu was also very stingy. Desserts are nice here... pistachio soufflé . Service can be very slow.

We didn’t eat or drink here but we popped by to see the Christmas Market this evening. There were 8 stalls, from Jewellery to Chocolate to Singers Lyric Pictures and more. It was so magical, they had a nice speaker playing lovely Christmas music. It was nice to be in the fresh air and see all these lovely stalls. A stall I really loved in the market was the Song lyric stall,it was very inventive and mesmerising. Also there is plenty of car parking in the Pub so parking was no issue. Overall a lovely Christmassy vibe and I would like to see more market events run here in the future all year round as well as Christmas. The next Christmas market is on the 18th December.

I stayed in Ruislip on business for two nights and ate at The White Bear on both nights. I’m not sure how or why anyone can complain about the staff and the food as I would describe both as being excellent and far exceeded my expectations. I had a Scotch Egg and Pork Rib Eye on the first night and Anchovy Boquerones and Chicken Supreme on the second - all we’re as good as you’d find in a high end restaurant (and I’m fortunate enough to have visited a few). I was very well looked after (thank you) and would definitely recommend The White Bear as a great place to eat. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to Ruislip!

Went for a 50 th Birthday meal with family. Which was a disaster! WORST ROAST DINNER I have ever had. Dry food over cooked potatoes hard just unedible. Had a suprise cake ready to bring out and member if staff spoilt suprise by asking Birthday boy if he wanted cake brought out yet. We had already told them we would get it when ready. But manager was very helpful. But don't know what chef was thinking ☹️

The Food at the White Bear has been for several years at a standard catering for those who enjoy Michelin-style presentation of food at a more affordable price point. I was treated by my cousin (with her husband and first son also present) to a 60th birthday lunch, I having visited many time prior to my late parents' deaths. Vegetables in season is a constant of the offering, the celeriac starter being particularly memorable this time. I took advantage of an offer of free Prosecco for having a birthday meal and this was enjoyed by all present. The set menu prices are really competitive, although this time I ate from the excellent a la carte menu. Anyone from the area who considers themselves a foodie will have definitely missed out if they do not sample the offering at the White Bear.

Place has gone down hill massively. Had an amazing Sunday lunch here about 2 months ago so came back and the contrast in the two meals is staggering. Not sure if they’ve changed chefs or not but it’s awful now. Pork was over cooked, yorkies burnt and hadn’t risen, veg undercooked and the cracking was tough as if it had been sitting there all afternoon. The cauliflower cheese had no cheese sauce. Also expensive but wouldn’t mind paying it if the quality was good. They had it so good in there so really surprised at the drop off but won’t be returning.

The White Bear is definitely the best pub food in the area. Always had a decent meal served by friendly staff. My girlfriend and I go regularly - but I felt the need to add a review after reading so many nitpickers in these comments whinging about such minor grievances. The food is a few quid more than most surrounding pubs, but definitely of a better quality than any pub for miles. There was a little bit of lipstick on my glass last time I went - but who honestly cares? I asked them to change it and they apologised and swapped it immediately. Bravo!

Patrick and his team could not have been more welcoming or accommodating to our party to have a simple mid-afternoon surprise celebration of a 90th birthday. They allowed us to bring in our own cake and we bought teas, coffees and wine to accompany it. This was never going to be a big earner for them, but we will all return when we have our next celebration as they truly understood and delivered hospitality to a very grateful birthday girl and her friends.

The restaurant presented a mixed experience - it boasts a well-stocked bar and a variety of drink options. The dining area is also tastefully decorated and accessible. We visited last Saturday to utilize a 50% discount on main courses. We arrived at approximately 4:15 PM; it was relatively quiet with one large group in the bar area and about three tables occupied in the dining area. The staff were amiable, although the waitress seemed hurried. The menu choices were somewhat limited. We ordered two burgers with cheese and bacon for £20, which felt slightly expensive. My wife chose the duck which she enjoyed, and we also had a couple of drinks and two desserts. Unfortunately, my wife discovered a piece of white paper in her meal and may have ingested some of it. The piece we found measured about 4cm x 4cm. The manager was apologetic and gave some sort of explanation as to why it was there. This wasn't our first issue; previously, during a Sunday lunch that might have been on Mother's Day, I found a large piece of plastic in my lamb dish. The desserts were average; the sticky toffee pudding was unremarkable, and the crunchy biscuit with a dollop of sour cream was not enjoyable - we've had better elsewhere. My daughter's trio of ice cream was left 30% uneaten, and one of the flavors was incorrect, though we didn't mention it at that point. We had difficulty getting the staff's attention to request the bill. The restaurant supervisor/manager was very apologetic about the incident with the paper and kindly removed my wife's main course from the bill, which was a nice but expected gesture. Overall, the experience was average, and without the voucher, it would have felt overpriced. It's unfortunate because the establishment has the potential to be excellent, but the food doesn't seem to be freshly prepared on-site. (Opinion not fact)

Disappointed. Took my mum and son for lunch recently. I ordered the Mediterranean soup and there was cheese on the side which I added to the soup. The cheese had mould in it. It was absolutely mould, no question. We were told by the restaurant manager that this could have been the ‘flour’ used to separate the cheese (?!) The restaurant took the meal off the bill. The offer was there to order something else but sadly I had lost my appetite. My mother also decided not to eat. The saving grace was my son’s lunch, chicken and chips. The really sore point was when a young lady checked in with us, they also insisted that the mould in the cheese was actually a ‘seasoning’. A little patronising and not taken seriously. Such a shame as this is our go to for Christmas drinks and the atmosphere / staff are usually so accommodating. On a more positive note, the outdoor space is beautifully decorated and the bean bag throwing for my son was a real hit.

This pub’s cask beer quality has gone downhill in the last year. I have frequently been served flat or sulphur-tasting beer , which means the pipes aren’t cleaned often enough and the throughput of beer isn’t high enough. Despite my taking the bad beer back, the staff continued to serve the beer to other customers, which I think is outrageous. Furthermore, they have had the same selection of four beers for longer than I care to remember, including the dreaded Doom Bar, TT Landlord, St Austell’s Tribute and one other whose name escapes me. It’s boring, can we have a change, please? Please? Recently the pub sent me an email entitled “Anyone for a local brew?” with a picture of the above three beers’ hand-pulls. I’ll let their marketing department into a little secret - beers from Cornwall and Yorkshire are not ‘local’ to Ruislip!!

The food is pretty disappointing to be honest, it’s fairly pricey for a meal but the flavours aren’t up to scratch and the portion sizes are quite stingey. No flavour in the black rice with king prawns, and only 5/6 little prawns for close to £20. Lovely staff and vibe but I wouldn’t come back for the food. We paid £100 for just 3 main meals and 3 alcoholic drinks, which I wouldn’t mind so much if the food was actually at the standard it should be, but it isn’t sadly.

Fish and chips was good, as a group of six the other portion sizes was disappointing for £20- £30 for mains. E.g. the steak and ale pie is only a dinky one, served with a small quail of mashed potato, which is finished in two mouth fulls. Overpriced and under served establishment, lots of room for improvement. The locals who rate 5 out 5 stars are clearly easily pleased as they don’t get out of Ruislip much.

I have been to this pub a few times. It's lovely inside, and the food is okay, although it used to be better, to be honest. However, I'm not here to review the food. In the 25 years that I have lived in the UK, I have never felt more uncomfortable. I felt a little bit out of place, as if you are not welcomed unless you are English and white. I visited the pub about a month ago when they were hosting a very loud birthday party. Not once were they told or approached by a staff member about the noise. However, when it was our group, I felt constantly picked on. One lady even shoved a door shut on my husband 😂 I bear no hard feelings, as I know that racism exists, and I'm a resilient person who can take it. By the way, our friends felt the same way, so I know I didn't imagine it. I will not be returning to the pub.

Plus, I got a door slammed on me for extra flair! 😂 Our friends noticed the weird vibes too, so it’s not just me. Definitely not going back.

We chose to eat at the White Bear on a whim simply because we were visiting the area & it served food later than some other establishments. However, we will definitely go out of our way to eat there again. Our meals included a starter, 3 adult meals, 2 children's meals & 3 deserts, all of which were of outstanding quality. It is difficult to appeal to all tastes & to consistently produce high quality food, yet all of us expressed that our meals were amongst the best we had ever had. The chef(s) certainly knows their trade & how to create dishes that are full of flavour. Additionally, it was greatly appreciated that there were varied vegan options that were the unique to the White Bear. The service was also excellent, attentive, friendly & faultless. We left feeling sublimely happy & we are looking forward to our next visit. As an aside, on our way in we had walked from the car park through the outside seating area.
