Orto in Belfast

A great choice of different and very tasty pizzas. Service was top drawer from well trained and knowledgeable staff. Loved the way you could see chef the preparing, cooking and dispensing food. Despite all the above, the first thing that hits you on entering premises is the strong smell of damp, that overpowers the potential aromas of freshly baked pizza. A great pity as we won't be back!

Party of two having lunch; I had a scrumpcious goat's cheese foccacia and my friend a mushroom flat bread. The service was prompt and we could finish our lunch within an hour.

Excellent pizza and appetizer at very reasonable prices. Some very interesting pizza options. Friendly service. Would highly recommend if in this area.

Fantastic lunch - not pretentious like other new establishments

Reviewing as a coeliac ...Best GF pizza this side of Naples. House wines are top class and the GF beer is superb. Great service and the booking system (for a place in the queue) is smooth. Recommended.

We got a table outside, there are small wall mounted heat lamps that turn on with a push button timer switch. Our food came out relatively quickly and the service staff was attentive. If you are gluten free ask for the gluten free menu. Our gluten free items were delicious with no compromises.

Visited Orto with my wife and daughter (who recommended it). Pizza was really nice. Staff were really pleasant and helpful. Will call again.

I love Orto and I think it’s some of the best pizza in Belfast, I had only tried their Bedford street branch before but came to Stranmillis with my partner, mum and granny last week. Only reason for losing a star is that the staff came round and started clearing our table as my granny was still eating. I wished I’d have said something at the time but I didn’t want to embarrass her (my gran), and the waiter had been friendly and great otherwise, just wanted to pass on the feedback that it made us all feel a bit rushed and there wasn’t a need for it considering there were a good few other empty tables, and since there are no bookings, it’s not like someone was waiting on ours. We were then asked if we’d like the bill which once again made us feel a bit rushed and we’d only been there for about an hour, not as if we were hogging the table for ages whilst being finished! Otherwise lovely food. :)

The pizza was one of the tasiest if not the tastiest pizza! My whole family loved them. The staff were lovely and efficient and atmosphere was good even with kids.

You could be in for a fair wait as it gets very, very busy! It's so worth it though. Could be the best pizza in Belfast. It may be a great pizza place, but the desserts are pretty spectacular too. Very nice surroundings. Heaters outside which can help shorten your wait if you're happy outside!

We got the specials- satay base foccia and pizza and to be honest it was not good

Lovely pizza place with great atmosphere. There are large windows in the ceiling bathing the tall space below with natural light in the daytime. The pizzas are delicious and the warm honey is a unique and tasty addition. It seems to be always busy but staff are friendly & helpful. There are a few tables where you can eat outside if you are feeling brave (or the sun is shining!) it is up a few steps off the pavement so wheelchair access may be a challenge.

Such. Good. Pizza! Ate in, service was quick and friendly despite the place being very busy. The pizza (and desserts) were delicious- best pizza I've had in a long time.

Make sure to book ahead for dine in! Delicious gluten and vegatarian options and drinks! Staff was super helpful with understanding the menu and ordering.

One of the best Bruschetta I ever tried. 🥰 Pizzas are made in order. Fresh and really tasty. Great service, great place, for date, family lunch dinners. Highly recommended.

Fantastic pizza in brilliant bright venue. Perfect after a walk around the botanical gardens and ulster museum. Served by attentive and friendly staff this place is a brilliant, the Tiramisu is also genuinely the nicest I’ve ever had.

Food has been good the times I have been to ORTO to sit in so no complaints there but was surprised when I went in for takeaway recently. The guy told me it was 30 mins wait time with absolutely no acknowledgement that 30 mins may be seen as unusually long time to ask a Customer to wait for a pizza to takeaway. I asked around phoning in to the other branch that's closer to my house so that I can grab it by the time I got there. They do not allow orders to be phoned in ahead of time. So my only option is to physically go to any orto till and potentially wait 30 mins for a pizza? Very strange business practice with the information very poorly communicated.

We were very impressed on our first visit to Orto - delicious food, beautiful setting and kid friendly which was good with 3 under 6 in tow. Would 100% recommend and will be back.

I was keen to try out this place given all the hype. I found it ok but I wouldn't be rushing back. The pizza was fine but I don't see it as any better than Little Wing or Pizza Express. Service was great. Atmosphere a bit lacking as we had to sit outside. Will not be back anytime soon. Very expensive for what it is to be honest. If I were you I wouldn't believe the hype. I'm sorry to say this but it just isn't all that it is cracked up to be.

Small but nice! Friendly staff and good quality food. Great for lunch prior to visit Ulster museum and they have a small kids menu too! I personally love thin layer pizzas and our one was great! Also tried tiramisu which was really tasty too!

Pizza was great! Never tried honey on a pizza but it was decent. Service was great from majority of staff. First staff member that took us to our seats and dealt with us at points could have done with a personality transplant but the rest of the team made up for it. I haven’t had bread and butter pudding in years and can’t remember it ever being as good as this Orto one 👌. Well worth a try. I will say, it was a bit cold in there with the air con or fans blowing straight down our backs but could leave jacket on and enjoy

Lovely little place, great pizza. Crust was a bit soggy but overall experience too good to really fault it. Absolutely worth a visit.

2nd time in a row that we've tried to book but failed. Last time we waited for about 20 minutes then begged for a seat and got it. The pizzas were fine. This time after struggling with their website, we're going else where.

Ordered a takeaway on Saturday night for a No 8 and a mushroom, pineapple and garlic. Got home to discover the latter had NO cheese and was burnt. Emailed Stranmillis to complain but have not been acknowledged. This is not the standard I'm used to from Ortopizza.

A really good Italian restaurant which does some incredible pizzas. The staff are super friendly and the pizzas are delicious, they can even convert any of the pizzas into gluten free on request if needed.

I went there today and they were closed although it Says they're open on the maps Keep it updated because it was a total waste of time

Great pizza but don't ever rely on getting a table. The madness of a no booking policy is ridiculous - there was a free table for 2 but a wait for anything else, it's utterly hopeless. They must miss out on so much revenue. We took our pizza home and bought beers and wine on the way. We would have spent £80-100 had we stayed, but instead spent £60 on a take away. We won't be back until we can book and actually guarantee a table. So many people turned away even though they could have booked to come earlier or later! Why do they do it???????

Goats cheese pizza in particular very tasty and Orto salad bowl is a good vegan option. Only downside is you cannot pre-order for pick up......but if you want good pizza it's worth the wait.

My family have stumbled upon this amazing place by accident, and were shocked with the pizza quality. It is the best pizza we've had on the entire island of Ireland. It have really reminded us of the pizzas we've had in Napoli. We're living in the south and have returned to Belfast again, just to have this pizza again. And we'll keep coming back.

After an horrendous experience first time round trying this place out where our order was forgotten about, we decided to give it another go as we thought it couldn’t get much worse.. but we were proved wrong. Most frustratingly is the insane waiting times of over one hour! The complete lack of acknowledgment from the staff who seem to struggle with communication issues. We literally watched people get served who sat down 5 mins after us, eat their meals and leave all within the time that our pizzas had still not even been thought about. Had to ask not once but twice if our pizzas would be ready anytime soon. Hunger had worn off by the time the pizzas eventually arrived to the point we didn’t even feel like eating them. Not once did any staff check we were satisfied or ask if they could get us anything else. So I decided to speak up and make a point that on the two occasions we had experienced this service. The manager was completely unwilling to appreciate how we felt and said it’s just the way our system works. I wasn’t looking to get a full refund but maybe even if they could have knocked off the drinks as compensation towards the terrible service… I’d understand that it would be common practice in other establishments but not for Orto, their pride seems to be much more important than their customers. Won’t be back!

Outstanding pizza in an era of post-perfection pizza, with there being so many good pizza spots in Belfast and all. The dough was super light and tasty, but chewy and with bite. Small plates were excellent too. The Arancini is as good as I've had. The service was attentive without being overbearing and the in-house pale ale brewed by Modest was a bonus. First class all round. Update: Any leftovers are very reheat friendly.

Waiter was very good! Stuffed peppers were delicious. However, our pizza dough could have done with a few more minutes in the oven (base raw).

Really wonderful pizza. I went last week and shared two pizzas with my husband. The dough was of a really high quality and the toppings are delicious. It was a little pricey for pizza but worth the money. I had a tiramisu for dessert however that was really disappointing - had no coffee flavour at all and was essentially just whipped cream for £7. My husband had the bread and butter pudding however, which was excellent. Overall a really enjoyable meal, one star deducted for the tasteless dessert

I went there on a weekday for lunch. The pizza service starts at 11.30AM. The place is nice, new and bright. You can choose a tomato or cream pizza base. I ordered pizza number 5 from Red pizza : Salami Milano, pepperoni, prociustto, mozzarella, arugula, garlic oil, parmesan.🤌 It was divine!!! 🤪 I think it's the best pizzeria in Belfast.🇮🇹 The ingredients are 💯 fresh. The dough is supple and crispy in places, with air bubbles on the edges, which attest to a good rise! Hey, you know what? ....You will see the pizzaiolo preparing your pizza🍕 😋🇮🇹 because the kitchen is not hidden behind! she's there ! in the same room behind the large glass counter! ... and in my opinion, this has an advantage for us customers, because it saves us from getting impatient, it reassures us! we see that the cook is clean! organized! knows his job and does it with love... The price is right. (The only negative point is that the room is not very big)

Perfect!! From breakfast to dinner, they can do no wrong. Much better than the one in toon, in every possible sense. Although I'm glad for the growth of the biz, Stranmillis will not be beaten.

Orto pizza stranmillis is just fabulous. Pizzas are superb. The feta stuffed peppers are something else really good. Staff nice and just such a cool wee place love it

The Orto salad bowl is AMAZING! Who knew salad could taste so good!?!? Honestly the best salad I’ve ever had, so tasty. The rest of the party had pizza and flat breads and they were all giving 5 star reviews of their dishes.

Nice spot for a solo lunch. Menu has good vegan options. Service was impeccable. The woman on the floor works so so so hard, I hope she is appreciated.

We went in as we needed a break and the coffee shop of the Ulster Museum looked fuu and very noisy...delighted we crossed the road to a relaxed and chilled place Restaurant is very nicely decorated and clean the menu offers great choices and the service was excellent We had a salad - goat cheese and beetroots- and a focaccia both were very tasty We wanted water and we're delighted to get a big carafe of water and ice Thank you and we will visit again when in Belfast

Waited 45 minutes for a table and then we were asked for it back before we had finished our drinks. Just not acceptable.

Food was excellent but one staff member was extremely rude in the city centre restaurant (girl on the desk). Very grumpy the whole time and did not give us any warning that our table slot was up and just placed the bill on our table and told us she needed the table back (even though there were 4 other tables sitting empty, 2 of which had been empty the whole time we were there). I completely understand that each table has a designated slot but this could have been handled in a much nicer way. Such a shame because we really enjoyed the food, but won't return for this reason alone.

4 of us went here for dinner. All had pizza! Servings are ample and some of the party struggled to finish their pizza but took home their leftovers for later. Great grub and would recommend, no problem.

Beautiful building, got the pizza special which was very delicious. Strawberry basil lemonade was also a highlight. Would definitely recommend!

Lovely food, arguably best pizza in Belfast however the queuing system is the worst I have seen. Every time we attempt to go we check the app and it says there are 3 or 4 people in the queue and then within 5 minutes it's full until close. Wish they would just allow normal booking for the stranmillis restaurant

Came here for a dinner during a visit to Belfast. Really excellent starters, using top quality ingredients. There are plenty of vegetarian options - they are even clear about which wines are vegetarian which I never see. Great service too. Overall I would highly recommend for a nice dinner with friends or family.

Possibly the best pizza in Northern Ireland? Consistently quality pizza with fresh and full flavours. Anything with their 'hot honey' is a treat, but having tried a range of food from the menu everything is delicious. The price is surprisingly good for a restaurant of this level and food is served quite quickly.
