Food and atmosphere great but be aware of the service charge on table of six

First time in Oro.and won't be the last. Food was superb. The pizza was the best pizza I have ever had. Staff were efficient and friendly. Not the cheapest but the quality was there. Highly recommended.

My favourite dine out in Shawlands.Never disappointed.

I've been there a few times and usually get the their meatballs which were excellent. They have now changed them to cheap shop bought and the sauce was missing depth. Disappointing Oro!

Had a wonderful meal before the theatre show! We came from Edinburgh and just felt like italian and it was spot on! Staff really friendly and attentive, food delicious. We had prawns, meatballs, steak pasta with green peppercorn sauce and calzone bomba! Portions were great and we ended up taking some home! Atmosphere was very fun and welcome! We would highly recommend as had fantastic experience! Thank you for a wonderful evening! Aperol spritz is a must!

Food was good, only had one portion of Squid which was a shame as two people in the group wanted to order it. Appart from that everything was good, definitely will be back

Sat, 15th Feb. 12.10 pm....It would be good if they actually picked up the phone to take a booking. Phoned 5 times, to be put on hold each time, eventually being cut off in each instance. Some restaurants have went right downhill, post covid.

ORO is a very nice Italian restaurant 8n shawlands. Quality fresh food served in a relaxed atmosphere by very friendly and helpful staff. Check out the virtual fish tank.

Our favorite Italian spot in Glasgow! The food is always consistently delicious, the service is excellent, and they put a nice twist on some classic dishes. Highly recommend! And do yourself a favor—order the truffle, honey, and chili focaccia. You won’t regret it!

Attended Oro italian for the first time, very disappointed and will not be back. Unsure whether this was a one off due to a burst pipe in the area so food went downhill or this is the norm but our experience made us not want to return. - Food served in tupperware containers due to no running water. When you're paying £23 for prawn pasta this is less than satisfactory - Surcharges for everything - £1 extra to request penne over spaghetti pasta!! £4 for 250ml coke bottles - over 3 hours later we had to cancel desserts/drinks order as needed away, extremely slow service. All we had was starters/mains for 6 people - unable to flush toilets or wash hands due to no running water, toilets clogged and only hand sanitiser bottles available for after Someone came over to us to let us know that we were not allowed to cancel our dessert order as it was already made, asked for it in a to go container but the donuts were boxed up without the dipping sauces. Expressed our concerns about slowness and lack of running water to be told it was "either this or cancel tables on a busy Saturday night" which seemed a very odd response considering the experience we had just had. Refused to take any money off our existing bill and put all of us in an awkward situation considering her lack of empathy towards the experience. Feel totally ripped off and won't be back.

It was a very busy Saturday night but Oro was so nice to fit us in. Tasty carbonara and rocket salad in a very elegant dining room.

Great meal with loads of gluten free options on the menu from starters to desserts and pizza! Absolutely delicious. We went for an early festive lunch and saw loads of families with kids too which is always a plus for those looking for a nice meal out with little ones.

I know the original Mr and Mrs Crolla....their Grandson said he would mention the guy who used to go into Dinos and discuss the Amalfi Coast with them! Staff always polite and authentic . Truffle Chicken was lovely...I don't give £15 tips everywhere !

I was recommended to try Oro out from a friend and I was not disappointed. Excellent service from the minute you walked through the door. Food was also excellent and the kids enjoyed the oro donuts at the end. Will definitely recommend and return to the restaurant.

The food in here was just gorgeous. Full of flavour, presented beautifully and big portions sizes too. If you are truffle daft like me then you need to get yourself to Oro! The restaurant was beautiful and the service was great. It is a bit pricier so a great spot for a birthday or celebration. Love that the cocktails were also fantastic.

It was an amazing experience to dine in this restaurant, we enjoyed both our meals and the service and my husband is very picky with places to eat and the food but he can’t stop talking about this restaurant.

Pizzas are superb, I've been here twice and thoroughly recommend the bbq chicken or the calzone 🤤 Always well staffed who are very friendly and attentive. I've not yet tried any pasta dishes, but they all look tasty. The Oro doughnuts for dessert are an absolute must!

Police called! So four of us, all adults, visited Oro on Friday night. Unfortunately, my wife's carbonara was heavily salted and she couldn't eat it. It was returned intact. My wife shared pizza, etc, with the others present. We were surprised when the bill arrived and a £16 charge was present for the meal returned. We reminded our waiter (who was lovely and fully understood) that one meal had been returned, and she left to speak to a manager. She returned, saying they would not be removing the said £16 from the £300 total. Well, I'm not paying for it, I said. Two additional managers came saying they would not remove the £16. Manager #2 said he was calling the police and went to the centre desk to do so. Eventually, evening ruined, the £16 was finally removed. Meantime, Oro lost a £45 tip for the meal and our future custom.

Service is great but the food is overpriced and nothing to get excited about. The calamari was a bit of a rip off barely 5 decent rings and the rest was potato crisps and some other fried substance to make it look bigger. Pretty disappointing.

Not really a wow! Sugo was better to bee honest. It was the place you paid for not even the atmosphere as some staff do not have genuine connection with customers. 2 pasta with beef steak were dry. My order was salty, it was the spaghetti with mare or seafood, plenty of clams but really they were just shells and sauce that got inside. 2 king prawns which I understood were expensive to add. Tiramisu was nice to be fair. Staff made it a worse visit, didnt feel naturally friendly. Booked 6 people and 2 I said would be late. First, the Lady manager with frown face said they need to get one of the table back if they were not coming even she was told they would be late, then, took one chair instead. When the other 2 came, waiter without checking gave a chair from the back and was broken so my family member fell which was embarrassing. They changed the chair but I felt it was a joke to them. They were making joke, showing us that this time the replacement chair was ok. It was not funny. They concentrated more on fixing the chair rather than approaching the embarrassed customer. No complimentary drink nor making him better talk at all. When we finished and paid There was no apology, to the person. The lady manager was not polite at all, didn’t even approach us to thank us. For the price we paid, I think a genuine friendly attitude would be nice.

The food is overpriced and very salty 🧂.I ordered a chicken pasta with broccoli it was OK.A very small portion and not worth £15.95.The service was amazing and so attentive.But the biggest shock was the price of the wine pinot grigo £39,that is a bloody disgrace.That was probably bought for £3/ per bottle,that is shocking when people have no money and are struggling.I don't think I will rushing back the food is too salty!!

It’s just a really nice Italian restaurant that feels huge and has really maximalist interior design.

Lovely casual but high quality restaurant in Glasgow, not a bad item on the menu and everything is made fresh, pasta cooked al dente and bread is perfectly soft and light !

Atmosphere was nice, and very courteous service indeed. Food is pricey although unsophisticated. Good quality however. Unfortunately it is unforgivable for a restaurant to get dietary restrictions wrong. The calzone that has been ordered onion free, was FULL of onions. No price reduction or refund had been offered.

Honestly had an amazing time here for my birthday meal on Monday 21st Oct. I attended with my mum, dad, brother and fiancé and all 5 of us couldn’t speak highly enough of the food here. We loved every dish that was ordered and to top it off the service was very attentive. The skillet cookie was to die for! We were sat on a round table on a platform at the back of the restaurant which was lovely as we could all talk to each other and it felt private. Can’t wait to come back to try some other dishes. Have heard of people coming here and always wanted to try it for myself and so glad we did!

The only downside was steps down to the toilets, which were difficult to navigate for one of my friends who is unstable on his feet

What an absolute gem. Popped in here late one Thursday evening craving pizza, and we were not disappointed. Such lovely, friendly, professional service from everyone. The barman took up my challenge to create something fresh to drink with gin. I went with a simple margerhita pizza and it was perfect. No notes. We'll definitely return for a full meal soon as everyone keeps mentioning these doughnuts! 😀

We went for a family meal to celebrate a birthday. Staff very friendly & attentive. Food delicious. Atmosphere had a great buzz. Service was excellent despite it being very busy. Little gestures like stands for handbags were appreciated. The rosemary focaccia was THE best - & the kids loved the homemade donuts. Can’t wait to go back!

If you’re looking for the best pasta in Glasgow, Oro is the place to be! We tried the rosemary focaccia, mushroom tagliatelle, & penne arrabbiata, & it was all AMAZING. Everything was fresh and so flavourful. The service was also 10/10. Staff were all so friendly & attentive, which made the experience even better. Our server (whose name I forgot to catch) was the loveliest lady ever and looked after us so well🤍.Highly recommend.

Seemingly poor management. I always make sure to support businesses that support their staff regardless of the food quality which was ok.

Great atmosphere and food and genuinely friendly but inefficient service, maybe too many people servicing the same table, but we had to order a drink 3 separate times and it was wrong when it arrived, more than a little frustrating But the food was superb and we will be back

We have seen this place many times, this was our first visit. Having visited there are many good reasons why this has been there so long. Excellent service, food, staff, everything. Very much worth a visit.

Was treated absolutely disgustingly here today by the staff over my son who is autistic was crying and making noise the staff member told us if we can’t get him to be quiet then we would be asked to leave absolutely shocking never experienced this in any restaurant before apart from today I even told him he has autism and can’t help it and he proceeded to tell me he needs to be quiet! Absolutely disgraceful don’t go here if you have children with special needs or just children in general unless you can press a mute button!

Best Italian restaurant in southside

Seated at short notice in peak time, Gorgeous decor, cosy seating next to bar. Service was attentive and relaxed, Tasty cocktails. **Food: Very Hit/Miss** Starters were delicious and good portions The ✨doughnuts✨stood out However, My main - Tagliatelle was far too salty, couldn’t eat a single bite, sent back. Partner’s main was edible though, salt dampened down by a nice pizza dough. The brownie with cherries was not quite right, the cherries might have been better off soaked in rum. Overall a fair impromptu dinner experience.

Dear gentle reader, There aren’t many simple pleasures in this cruel life we lead but good pizza is surely one of them. The diamond encrusted exterior of Oro reflects a gold standard in the art of pizza. Last night, I was lucky enough to gorge myself on a 12’ classic margherita with japelenos. The crust was both crisp and tender with a delightful chew. Each bite taking me to within an inch of a roaring wood-fired pizza oven. The tomato sauce is deliciously rich and complex, with undertones of garlic, oregano and olive oil. A humble, but generous helping of melted mozzarella cheese binds this culinary masterpiece together. The arrogant English food critic will tell you that London is the home of British pizza. But, as a Londoner myself, I beg to differ. I believe we have found it right here in this cultural paradise we call Shawlands.

Absolutely beautiful food, well priced, I would recommend Oro

Ordered the meatballs for starters and the fish for main. Portions were very generous especially the chips that came with the fish. Was not expecting a big plate so we took the rest home! Staff were friendly and prompt service. Will definitely be back.

Second time there and it was equally as good if not better than the first, food is just out of this world, they have the best lasagna I have ever tasted. We actually travelled from Annan in Dumfriesshire (166mile round trip) for the food and we were not disappointed.

From Dante's service to the al dente pasta this place never disappoints.The chicken alfredo was the best I've ever had, pasta is cooked perfectly every time. I also tried the Nutella cheesecake which was definitely homemade and so delicious (defo couldn't have eaten one to myself though). Soo good and would make this my regular Italian in the Southside for sure.

My family and I got a takeout here for my 21st birthday. It’s been quite a while since I’ve had any interaction with this establishment. The food was just as good as I remember, the Tagliatelle Bolognese was fantastic! The spicy chicken penne was lovely. The peppered steak pasta was a little on the undercooked and oily side, but aside from that: everything else was great! Made a very stressful night sail very smoothly! So thank you very much!

Been a few times, mostly for special occasions and it never disappoints. The food is always 10/10 and the staff is super friendly. The pizzas are the best in Glasgow with no hesitation but is everything, pastas and entrees as well. Will be back.

My partner and I visited Oro for an early tea before a concert at Hampden. Service was great and quick to start with. Food was nice enough but came with a steep price. Throughout our meal, we were never asked if everything was ok. Our plates were collected swiftly yet we were never asked if we'd like anything else or a look at the desert menu. Instead someone comes back and presents us with the bill which we never asked for. This was really disappointing as we had been there under an hour and felt unwanted. Most likely won't return after this experience.

Had the pizza and tiramisu, both absolutely delicious. Attentive staff and a relaxing even if bustling ambience, will definitely be going again!

This is a firm favourite award winning diner in Shawlands. Always busy, even midweek, which speaks for itself. Service is second to none, the staff are always pleasant and helpful.

Excellent Italian restaurant that strikes the balance between sophisticated and welcoming. It's family friendly while still feeling classy enough to make it feel special. Case in point - they have two versions of carbonara: one the classic creamy style and the other the traditional, lighter, egg one. Good wine selection, understanding and accommodating with allergies.

Personally having been a fan of Oro for years I have been left feeling very disappointed and upset with the poor customer service this establishment provided at a recent dinner. The manager is unwilling to put his ego aside in aid of quality customer care and it is reflected in the previous poor google reviews. In most establishments mediocre food can be overlooked when made up for by friendly staff willing to provide good service, unfortunately that was not the case here. It is a shame that a restaurant that was a fan favourite treats their customers (their income) so poorly. With a manager who hides behind his wait staff and exercises a need to be right even when customers are willing to overlook hiccups, this restaurant will see a dwindling customer base fast.

Never the type of person to leave a bad review, however after my experience I would not recommend this place. I have always heard such good things about this place but unfortunately I cannot say the same. Went out for a celebration, ordered 2 pastas and a pizza, the pizza was not of standard was cold and not pleasant. We disregarded this and went to try our pasta, the pasta was hard and chewy, I politely asked if I could get this fixed to where I was told that their pasta is made that way however they would get it fixed, which I appreciated. Food was brought back out and 1 of the pastas was better however my own was still the same way I sent it back, and unfortunately not enjoyable for me to eat. So we had 1 slice taken out the pizza and my plate still full. The server said “do you want all this boxed up as still plates full” to where I said no. The bill was brought over and I spoke to the server saying I didn’t feel happy to pay for the pasta as it was full and was not fixed when brought out the 2nd time, I was told to wait till he spoke to a manager then minutes later came over with a new receipt and had taken the pasta off. I was still very upset and annoyed as I felt this had ruined my celebrations, my mum called the restaurant for me when I left to simply say that I was highly disappointed and hoped that they would fix their mistake, to be told that they have people like me calling to complain all the time that it doesn’t affect their business. That he looked forward to reading my bad review. Which I think is beyond disrespectful and shows that they do not care about customer returns or satisfaction just simply the money. Bad food experience can simply be a mistake of the night and an error but rude customer service tells you everything you need to know, not one apology was given and will certainly not recommend this place to anyone.

Great authentic Italian restaurant with opulent décor but with the name Oro (Gold) you might have expected that :). Pizza was as good as the pizzas I have had in Italy and service was very good.

Had a gorgeous dinner on Friday 31st May. The carbonara was so tasty. We ate outside as it was a lovely sunny evening. Steven the waiter serving us was exceptional, he was so attentive and pleasant.

Regular customers at Oro. We’ve been eating here for about 20 years. Always good food, service and atmosphere. Young chap who served us on Monday we hadn’t met before however up to usual excellent standard. Time spent by the owners training their staff pays off big style.

All 5 stars. From the food to the service to the ambience, everything is faultless. A real Italian dining experience. Keep it up guys.
