Food and service was very good.I would highly recommend

This was our favourite restaurant years ago but lost its sparkle when Antonio sold it. Been wanting to try it again as we have heard good reports recently. After visiting tonight we were well impressed with food quality, quantity and at a reasonable cost. Staff were nice and friendly and worked very hard to provide good service. Nice comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be returning. UPDATE!! Chef has been replaced since last visit. Very disappointed. Food nowhere near the quality as before, presentation poor to say the least and a hike in prices. Service ok and the place still clean and presentable. Food a let down. Sad to say won’t be returning.

The staff were very friendly. The starters we had were lovely but unfortunately the pizzas were extremely oily!

Nice place lovely meals and amazing service

A family of 12, we booked a table for lunch. It was a wonderful experience and the service was more than wonderful. The soup was very excellent. The young man who served us was professional and the most important thing was that he always had a smile on his face. The food was very tasty. I liked the pizza very much. We will definitely come back to visit soon.

Absolutely not worth it. The seating is too congested, so when its full you feel like you are in a busy market. Talking about food, not many options for a vegetarian or a vegan. I ordered a vegetariana pasta and it was like blank , no sauce , no seasoning , no veggies really. It was difficult to gulp it down as it was so dry. I wasn’t offered any parmesan cheese at all like they do at Italian restaurants. I wasn't offered any bread basket either and most people had it on their table. I wasn’t offered any given no drinks menu. The restaurant also talked about happy hours and denied while we were very much in time. I had my dine out evening ruined. Wont visit again ever.

Popped into Gianni’s last night as a last minute plan , had no reservation but hoped we would be lucky . Staff were fabulous, the restaurant was busy but we were seated in no time . The staff were friendly and attentive . First time I’ve been in years and can honestly say the food was spot on. Great choice on the menu and the specials board had a wonderful selection . We opted to try the specials , surf ‘n’ turf and the seabass . Both were absolutely beautiful and would absolutely recommend. We had a starter of garlic mushrooms and a garlic bread but asked for them to come at the same time as the mains. Nothing was a problem , everything arrived perfect . Too full for desert but hoping to try those on our next visit ! The staff were really helpful and friendly and the restaurant has a lovely traditional Italian atmosphere . A fabulous experience from start to finish ! Can’t wait to come back , Thanks Giannis !!

Staff seated us and gave us only the food menu, returned with only the wine menu and no other drinks menu, and didn't give us a bread basket but there was one on every other table. We ordered two pasta dishes and one came OK but the other had the wrong type of pasta on, asked it to be changed and then it came with no taste flavouring or seasoning added to it so it tasted absolutely bland. Absolutely swerve this restaurant if you see it.

I’ve been coming here for a long time and watched it switch hands more than once. It recently got taken over and since then the food has went down hill. This used to be my favourite restaurant and I’ve gave it 3 chances but I’m gutted that I haven’t had a good meal after the new menu came Out. I had a chunk of metal in my Pete starter which I’m assuming was tinfoil. My steak was medium well at best and very dry after ordering medium rare The sauce of my steak was just oily and tasted of garlic. My veg came covered in burnt cheese for some reason. The price has went up which wouldn’t be as bad if the food quality didn’t go down Reply: I spoke to a gentleman (5’7ish in height maybe mid 50s) about the bit of metal in my food he was apologetic but it still doesn’t rectify the issue

First time and really enjoyed it. Staff, lovely and friendly. Had the special , 2 courses for a tenner. Very generous portions. Food was lovely and well presented. Just gutted I was hungover as couldn't eat it all! Would definitely go back.

No words. This was a beautiful place. Since 1982. Every milestone marked here. Now it's just awful. Servers and owner rude. Threw the plates on the table. Potato skins were rotten. Owner swore at us when we pointed it out!! Unbelievable. So sad as this used to be my go to restaurant in Morpeth.

Took the wife here for her birthday and our anniversary. The 5 star rating says it all really. We didn't bother with starters or deserts but can categorically say that we both thoroughly enjoyed our main meals. The pizza I had was excellent.

Ordered a peperoni pizza , Gianni's is now the only Italian restaurant I've ever been to where the base was not made made in-house. It was a pre-made bought in base . I've had the same tasting pizza from Asda . The server was very unprofessional, swearing at other customers she knew whilst serving us .

Impromptu family lunch today, really enjoyed the atmosphere the food and the company. The staff were very good we had a toddler in the party and the waitress was really good.will be going back and would definitely recommend.

The food was delicious, the service was very sweet, but unfortunately the owner said 'expresso' instead of espresso 😔, and he put the wrong items on the cash register, so we had to pay more.

Food was nice but they forgot our lasagne. We didn’t have time to go back and get it. No way of getting a refund because we paid cash at the restaurant.

Stunning meal at Gianni's. Excellent food, great value! We had pizza and pasta dishes and everything was delicious. Would highly recommend and will certainly return.

Food lovely 😍 service was good could do with more people there

We used to go here regularly for many many years, but haven't been for quite a while. We decided to go on Saturday night and Gianni's is as good as ever. A real plus point is that you can now book a table and the food is fantastic. We shared the tempura prawns to start, and had chicken dishes which were fantastic. All washed down with a bottle of Verdicchii.... perfect! We found out , just as we were leaving that Alan, the chef for many years is back in the kitchen and you can certainly tell...he's brilliant. We'll definitely be back

Me and my partner had a lovely meal here this weekend. It was super easy to book a table and we had a brilliant time. Every single member of staff was super kind, helpful and funny and made us feel right at home. We were even given some bread and butter before the starters were brought out! The food was delicious too, especially the mozzerella en corozza starter! Definitely a restaurant that is well worth a visit, you’re made to feel like one of the family and the food is amazing!

Used to go to Gianni's over 20 years ago and loved it when kids were born. Stopped going when it was taken over . My son came home for Easter, so was looking for somewhere local to go too. Saw Original Gianni's so gave it a try. It was great food just like I remember it. Staff friendly. Would have gave them 5 stars for service but never got any table water. But they were very busy which is great to see. Will be back soon.

It's been a long time since I had been to this restaurant. The aesthetic was very much the same, food was ok for the money but felt like there wasn't enough for what you pay for. Quality was acceptable!

After all these years Giannis is still coming up with the goods - fantastic food and service second to none!

Mains ok but nothing remarkable. Desserts poor overpriced frozen stuff trimmed with squirt cream and coloured syrup. Service slow and poor. Difficult to check the bill as no prices were included and it’s cash only. Wouldn’t particularly recommend it.

The hidden gem in Morpeth that keeps giving. The food not only delicious but piping hot too. I hate it when food comes out luke warm. Having eating at multiple restaurants nearby, Gianni's blew away the competition for good food. And it was reasonably priced too.

We were looking for somewhere to eat and end up not knowing what we wanted, thankfully we stopped here! It was busy but a short wait for a table for four who happened to walk in off the street was a small price to pay for a lovely meal in a very welcoming place with great staff and service... the price wasn't too bad either though to be fair, we stopped worrying about that after the starters arrived!!

The original Morpeth restaurant, and still the best!

Had a lovely meal here with my partner. The lasagna was exceptional. Great service.. a special mention for Molly who has only done a couple of shifts but was absolutely attentive, polite, and chatty a credit to you 😀👍

We visited for the first time this evening. The service was amazing, it was a lovely, friendly, welcoming atmosphere. We chose potato skins to start then for our main we chose Pollo Franco which was absolutely beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and will definitely be returning customers.

Large table booking early December. Easy to book, best to go in and pay direct and the team look after the rest. No limit on numbers, super quick food on the night hot and well made. Long thin table was tricky placed in the centre but great night!

Absolutely fantastic place. Went on a whim as we were staying nearby. The welcome was warm and the food was excellent.

This evening we arrived in the area after spending the whole day traveling from Kent. We found this restaurant 1st and asked on the off chance if they could accommodate 5 hungry people expecting to get laughed out the restaurant for not booking on a Saturday night. We are so please they could and in hind sight surprised. We were greeted by friendly staff and shown to a table without feeling like they were doing us a favour (which they were). Our meals were fantastic! Not one of us had any complaints. With a picky 10yr old who ate everything on his plate, that's a real compliment. When it was time for dessert Franco was trying to persuade me to order his tiramisu. This is a dessert that I cannot eat because of my weird texture issue thing that I have, still Franco tried to spoon feed me his dessert made which was made by his fair hands. Sadly I could not partake so my son took one for the team and thought it was amazing (he would never usually try something like this). As a result 2 tiramisus were ordered and thoroughly enjoyed. I had the fudge cake which was also lovely. If we are ever this way again I would very much like to come back. Great food, wonderful atmosphere, we were treated like old friends by the staff. Well done guys. You've nailed it 🙌

Delicious food and a warm welcome. If you are looking for an authentic Italian then this is the best in the area.

Used to come here all the time about 15 years ago, but then moved away and to ugh t was my first visit since I came back. So happy to say that it’s just as good as it was all those years ago, if not better. Staff are super friendly, food is delicious, great portion sizes and very reasonable prices. Already planning our next visit ☺️

Very good service, I ordered a take-away pizza and was able to collect in just 15mins. Freshly baked and good value. The restaurant staff were very friendly. The pizza was delicious, but the tomato sauce tasted a bit different to other pizza.

Amazing food, great atmosphere, staff so welcoming, fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. 10/10 would highly recommend. Came up from Liverpool to meet our best friends, will be coming back , best Italian restaurant we have been to. Love it.

Discovered this lovely place today for lunch. Very welcoming staff, especially Franco who told us about the restaurant history. The food was amazing and great portions. The tiramasu was fabulous.. Franco even gave an extra portion to take home. Free Ameretto shots too. We were on holiday but will definitely visit again if in the area. 👍

Went to Giannini s Restaurant onSunday 22nd May with Partner and good friends who were visiting. Fab welcome given to us by Giannini. Fab friendly welcome by staff. Lovely well prepared and presented meals.. good portions.. thoroughly enjoyed our night. Would i return.. would i return.??.. most definitely.

We stopped by on a Sunday evening driving home from a wknd away when we stumbled across Gianni's ristorante.. From Edinburgh to Bradford. .. amazing service, the best Italian we have had in a long time and we eat alot of Italian. ... We have even spoken about driving 2 hours on a Sunday up to Morpeth just for Gianni's... Don't miss out!!!

Great staff but the room is echoy which makes it incredibly noisy. The food was quite bland.

20th Feb 2022 - A Sunday Lunchtime catch up with old friends made all the better by the great food and atmosphere at Gianni's. Outside it was pouring down but inside, we could have believed we were on hols in Italy. Franco and the team made us all very welcome and the food was excellent to match the service. Well done all!!

Visited Giannis tonight with my two children. We had a fantastic time. The food was beautiful, the service was fantastic and Franco and the team are all amazing fun and made us feel so welcome. I visit alot of local restaurants and this is the best Italian by far. Fantastic.xxx Rosalind.x
