Origin8 in Peterborough

Been coming to the Railway for years, this cafe seems to have let the experience down. Not much choice of food or drinks, cakes were tasteless, staff not very friendly or welcoming, not a nice atmosphere at all. Such a shame as the rest of the Railway people and place are so friendly and lovely atmosphere.

We popped in for a drink and luckily not for food because whilst waiting we could see flies walking over the baguettes in the cabinet. Mentioned it to a staff member who disappeared, didn't then tell us what was going to happen but I highly doubt those baguettes were disposed of! I have emailed the company to inform them of what I saw and I hoped they would be polite enough to get back to me to inform me of whst protocols were in place for this but clearly they are happy selling food like this. Would never eat in there again and we visit every year. Friends also had a cooked breakfast whilst camping and it was terrible, raw fat on bacon and burnt toast amongst some of the issues. Do not eat here!

The website presentation of this cafe does not match the experience of a visit In terms of produce available or atmosphere. It was as though the Covid requirements didn’t exist. Tables were not sanitised between clients ; we had to clear crumbs etc from ours. “Service” was no different to before Covid, queuing at the bar and picking your own sandwiches etc and waiting for drinks with a collective area for cutlery, napkins etc. All what you are not supposed to do and which maximises the possibility of transmission. The sandwiches were ok and the tea fine but the experience truly awful. Stay safe - avoid.

Popped in with our Grandsons whilst at Sacrewell. Ideal for a pit stop with kids. Reasonable options and prices and the staff were helpful and friendly

Excellent presentation with individually packaged food. Unfortunately the Tuna sandwich lacked substance and was mega expensive.

Such a shame. Really hoped this place had improved on a return visit. The location on the farm with beautiful views over the valley and good alfresco seating are a definite plus, however it's​ an eatery so food should be enjoyable. First thought was cake with tea, but the cakes and scones other than two under covers were on a table away from the servery and uncovered. With so many children around the cakes are easily touched by mucky fingers, also brushed by clothing and bags, so unappetising and a bit surprising in this day and age of food hygeine. Strangely there was adequate space in the counter behind hygeine screens.... Instead we opted for a wrapped sandwich and warm panini. The panini arrived on a a plate with no garnish, was tasteless and dry. We thought the packed egg mayonnaise sandwich might compensate. However my half had a thin scraping of chopped egg but no mayonnaise. And dry unbuttered/spread thin cheap bread. We took it back and showed the staff. Their excuse was some people don't like mayo, so I said why choose an egg mayonnaise packed sandwich if you don't like mayo. They said they only butter one of the two slices of bread....... We were given a slice of cake in compensation, but after failed convincing about the sandwich a refund of the food. We were told they had delicious hot food on sale, but we decided to decline. This is a busy attraction, it needs a decent cafe, not everyone packs a picnic. The prices are reasonable but customers still need good quality food however simple and cakes kept under cover for hygeine. Hopefully our disappointment will flag up the need to improve before the busy season starts and the cafe will get the good reviews the location should command.

We found the staff very friendly, the cafe was clean and tidy, there was a good selection of freshly prepared food, which we all enjoyed, origin8 is a great place to take all the family, I have already recommended it to my my friend and family I would recommend to you also👌😀

All the family visited on the Saturday before Christmas a party of 14. We had a range of meals from children's lunch boxes, sausage and mash and full Turkey dinners. All the cooked meals were served together and both children and adults were delighted with the tasty, well presented food. Excellent well done

Have bought food from Origin8 at Sacrewell many times and the quality keeps getting better. There's a new team in charge and you can definitely tell the difference-from fish and chip Fridays to daily specials. I usually have the quiche but today I had a delicious pasty. It was hot, fresh and filled with a generous portion of meat and veggies for under £3. Am also pleased to hear they're using some Riverford produce, direct from the farm. The hot chocolates are also amazing-by far the best I've had. Keep up the good work guys :)

We love the cafe at Sacrewell!! It was a dreary, noisy place before Origin8 took it over! Now it's been refurbished and has a lovely atmosphere! I was talking to a lady who says she has recently started managing it alongside her college, and I've noticed a big difference! My husband and I love popping in for tea and cake! Good selection! They've recently started serving cream tea and toasted teacakes! Food is always lovely- especially as they're now doing fish and chip Friday's! There's a lovely view from the cafe, and if the weather permits, you can sit outside and enjoy the views in the sunshine! We come back time and time again!

I think it is such a shame that the restaurant is now in the hands of this franchise and so poor. What was once a good place to eat and drink is now, other than the view over the farm and valley which is always good and the building itself, very poor. Food hygiene is in doubt. We have been several times since Origin 8 took over, and depending on what time of day, day of the week, you will find either dried out, reheated food on the counter or may hit it lucky and get something fresh. Choices are limited with hot food. The sausage roll taken from the back of a pile under the heat lamp was totally dead, pastry dried and overcooked, so obviously reheated in a microwave before putting back out? I showed the server, we touched it to demonstrate, he agreed, THEN put it back on display...... We asked for pizza from the front of the display as those behind had hardly any cheese.... We've been when there has been a display of nice fresh cakes, but mostly we arrive when sad odds and ends of leftover cakes from whenever are wrapped in cling film, only to find they taste as old and dry as they must be. I'm sure there must be good days/ times of day when there is some good fresh food, we just haven't found them yet. For the prices charged, other than a nice pot of tea in a nice venue, the food is not worth trying, and I have concerns about the reheating which goes on and repackaging bits from large cakes which sat around on other days.
