Origin Coffee at The British Library in Camden

Good coffee, service is not always nice though. Small flies observed on brownies on many occasions - hence the low score. One of the few Origin outlets that does not actively promote or ask customers for loyalty card which is strange given the brand’s efforts.

Cannot stress on how amazing the coffee is. I had the best mocha of my London life here!

I ordered a piccolo and the woman said sure. The barista served me a cortado. I said that I ordered a piccolo. He arrogantly explained that it's the same thing. It is not. A piccolo latte is called such because like a latte it's a 1:4 ratio of milk to espresso. Therefore it should be a single shot with 3 oz of milk. A cortado is a 1:1 ratio, equal parts espresso to milk. If you want to take an order for one drink and serve me another and then tell me I'm wrong then at least know what you're talking about when you give such rude responses. I even said, "Thank you. That was lovely" as I returned my cups, an interaction that was returned with annoyed silence. It's not that the coffee was wrong. It was still well made even if it wasn't what I ordered. It's that the barista was rude. Plain and simple.

Over priced for the size and just such an attitude...

This Origin Coffee is located at the British Library. There are a few street facing seats available, otherwise be ready for take-away orders if full up during busy times of the day. Had a pretty good double espresso here recently, cookie enjoyed with my coffee was indulgent, moist and strongly flavoured. Topped with a bit of salt, this was a good complement to the espresso. Would order the same combination again.

One of the best coffee i had during this trip in England. We ordered cold brew, flat white, and long black for my mom. The coffee Is wonderful. We also shared one almond croissant. It tastes perfect.

This is a very convenient spot situated right next to the British Library and if you’re in need of Wifi but the library hasn’t opened yet, then this place is your lifesaver. I came here once previously however I was very much appalled by the size of the lattes, both hot and iced. The initial jaw drop shock I had when I received my iced latte before was evident. It delivers a strong and rich coffee taste, which is good but the size is so small. For £3.90, this is preposterous. Small cafe with window seating and some outdoor seating. Better off just going to other coffee shops in the area

Excellent coffee. Really, really excellent, best in the British Library, best in the area - I think the only rival is Caravan in Granary Square. It's kept me going during many a morning meeting!

Ordered a cold brew coffee and it was about a 3rd of the size of a normal coffee cup. Even for London this is ridiculous. To top this the flavour of the coffee was very poor

This is a nice cafe located right after getting off the bus stop. I had a flat white and a mini brownie, both were very delicious! It is also a place I would like to visit when I am on a business trip.

The coffee had good flavor but the matcha was mid. I would say it’s not worth the hype. The service was very short and to the point. So very no nonsense. Pastries looked good but didn’t get a chance to try. I would’ve loved for it to just be a little more worth the money.

Quite noisy for where it is. Facing toward the road so if you were to look for a quiet setting. This place doesn't really offer it. But coffee is tasty. Very good mix of the beanz

Good coffee but 2 stars because they ask for a tip on takeaway. This isn't America.

Not the highest standards of execution, but a pleasant coffee stop in a unique location. Questionable choice of cups and vessels used for service. A long black served in a cup without a handle that is so thin a ceramic that you cannot collect the drink and transport it to your seat without scalding, and no saucer provided to limit this risk. Why not use cups made for purpose. On this issue at least it's a regrettable case of style over substance.

Coffee was great but pastry not so much. Had an almond croissant that was hard and stale. Taste was delicious though so if you can get it fresh, I’d recommend.

It's one of the best coffees. I usually get Oat Flatwhite. However, their batch brews are delicious, too. The app, point rewards, and online shopping have their pros, too! :)

This is a small coffee shop right in front of the British Library. The coffee is really fresh, strong and good, like true Barista coffee. There are a few bar style seats inside and also two tables outside. They didn’t have soya milk in terms of non dairy, instead they just have oat or almond neither of which I like, otherwise I would have given 5 stars. Overall a nice small coffee shop. It is also right near the train station.

Some spare time before a train at Kings Cross. Quality coffee presented nicely. Price was fine. Why have a coffee on the platform in a paper cup without seating? Recommended.

got an iced matcha and unfortunately very weak- basically just milk and it had lumps of matcha still. no choice of alternative milk either (just oat), wouldn’t go there again

Espresso was good, milk texture not so good. Customer service non existent. The 3 stars are for the espresso. I'm a barista too, it's not that hard to be nice.

I’ve been an Origin Coffee customer since 2014 but this was my first visit to this cafe. It’s quite small and I was disappointed by the lack of food, but the coffee was superb and was happy sitting outside with a mocha.

Lovely coffee and quite a nice little shop although I assume it’s rammed most of the time (was quiet during a Wednesday late morning).

Great coffee and **fantastic, friendly service** but... 1) First they reduce the loyalty benefits (much higher spend to get your free coffee) 2) Then they remove the discount for local businesses 3) Now they've removed the discount for reusable coffee cups - very regressive/ anti-environmental. The last point in particular is prompting me to seek out alternative options in the area.

Top 3 espresso I've had in my life, and I'm a serious coffee nut. It was the kind of espresso that makes you re-evaluate your entire home set up, which already costs a pretty penny, but now I'm thinking I need a new grinder and a specialist water system. Basically, it's impossible to reproduce this level of coffee and I will 100% be stopping by every time I'm in London

8.5/10 This is one of the best coffee places in the broader Bloomsbury area and one can tell the effort and joy that goes into your coffee to be prepared. I am only taking away half a mark on the taste of coffee (I do find them to be too thick/bitter/sweet for my taste) and another for the lack of savoury options to accompany the coffee - butter croissant is the closest you can get to savoury.

I think the attitude of the Asian barista girl is really bad! She treated the white people nicer and the way she talked to me was rude! The first time my card did not work and she said to me like giving me a commande! Try again! With that face and that voice of tone, she did not even say please

One of the reasons why I have stuck to Origin for around 2 years (as weekly coffee subscriber) is their passion for coffee. I love it when the cafe and the roaster are immensely passionate about what they do and serve to their customers. The Pourover they offer is of their nicest new beans, and the Batch Brew is lovely too. They always have 3 coffees in espresso (including 1 decaf), which always gives me the choice to go for a darker or lighter roast. In the picture attached, I had Lou Yang on espresso (very fruit, almost berry-esque) and Haru Suke on the filter (strong notes of mandarin). The staff is extremely knowledgeable and professional. I keep returning to this cafe very frequently because of their dedication to coffee, and because of the exceptional coffee itself. The branch is small but very cosy. Gets a bit hairy in the rush hour (morning) but the service is always quick.

Roast was too dark for my liking and the service was very slow but otherwise a pleasant stop if you're at the BL.

Honestly a terrible experience. Origin coffee is great but this place in particular is just horrible. The young guy at the till didn’t want to help me and just abandoned the coffee there , he didn’t give me any milk that I asked and he was serving a lot more customers after me without finishing my coffee first… He was very rude and obnoxious. PLEASE DON’T GO THERE

The latte was ok,tad bitter but still enjoyable. Lovely friendly staff! The other branch inside the library after the main entrance served the same kind of latte too i.e. bitter. It was served in a papercup

A small coffee place right next to the British Library. The barista was very kind and quick. The coffee itself tasted good but not extraordinary. I suggest that you take a cup to go and then sit on the plaza in front of the library, because the street next to the coffee place is very busy. I paid 3.60£ for a cappuccino.

My favourite coffee shop in London❤️ Well-brewed coffee, which is full of aroma. Usually, I order long black, but even batch-brewed coffee tastes really nice. If you get coffee beans, you'll get one free coffee. There’s another branch inside the library, which is also great.

Smallest of the Origin branches, but oddly the least packed. Coffee standards are consistently high, making it a good place to perch. The bench along one side of the cafe is too thin for comfortable laptop working.

I definitely got food poising from a chai latte from here somehow. Had only eaten weetabix with milk which was definitely not off. About 30 minutes after finishing the coffee I started to feel sick then another half an hour later I felt so sick I had to sit down and then made myself throw up. When I was throwing up I could taste and see the chai latte which I just drank from here. This may have been from some dirty cup who knows. Think it was just unlucky because this shop seemed very nice otherwise.

Black coffee is really good and bold. The blueberry muffin is delicious, too. Their baristas are very friendly. The only issue is the extremely high prices for what you ask for. A small cup of plain black coffee costs £3 while a muffin is 3.75!

I can't recommend this place enough. I visited once while in London after enjoying their coffee from their online store and the person who served me couldn't have been nicer. They walked me through what they believed I might enjoy and made the best V60 I've ever had! Fast forward to today where someone I know visited as I recommended it and the same server walked them through their various coffee selections before helping them choose a blend for me while discussing them over the phone. Couldn't have been more helpful or friendly and the coffee is unmatched.

A sunny spot to pause between St Pancras and Euston or en route to the British Library. Great coffee and wonderful juicy apricot danish pastry. And ... Mellow morning music low in the background creating a peaceful ambiance without intruding. So rare! Great.

Good coffee, pour-over and flat white. Slighyky dry Danish, but nicely buttery, with a smear of caramel and dab of apple purée. Slightly over-occupied by keyboard warriors (to be expected, given the location).

The internet was difficult to connect with on an older laptop and then cut out frequently. Which is a pity because the location and atmosphere would create a studious and pleasant atmosphere

My favourite flat white in town. The Baristas who work here are next level and not just in coffee knowledge and skill but also as people. They always make you feel welcome and are extremely delightful. It’s the things like this that really make your day on top of the the fantastic coffee. Did I mention sensational latte art?

Regular London prices but the fantastic speciality coffee makes up for it. I've not had 1 dud coffee in 12 months. They rotate the coffee they server fairly regularly, so you'll often get to try various coffees. Friendly staff as well.

I had a very bad experience this morning at Origin. Being a regular due to working in the area, I very often get batch brew coffee some mornings and coffee beans twice a month for V60 at home. Today, I bought a bag of Mano Del Puma and ask for the staff to grate it for me. After it was poured in the grinder not all of the beans went thorough. Maybe 35 to 45 grams got stuck . I was literary in front of this. The member of staff operating the grinder notified their colleague who looked at it , and did nothing. I was then given my coffee bag with minus whatever was left in the grinder ,and I saw the same person who was told about the remaining coffee, to grind it and put it aside in order to grind the next dose of beans. I then explained that I was unsatisfied and I was told that they were sorry. Nothing else. I then insisted saying that I have been charged for that waste. The reply was sorry again. I then made it clear how wrong that is and then, after all this drama I was told that I would be offered a freebie, at which stage didn't interest me and I just left. It is a shame because I like the place and the product and most of the staff , but today's people working there had no clue of how to treat and respect clients. Very disappointed.

Friendly, great staff and good coffee to go along with it, if your nearby would recommend giving it a try! Only real complaint would be the café got quite noisy, but that's not really controllable with so many customers coming in and out throughout a given period.

I had an hour before my train left, so I went to this cafe. I ordered a latte and cookie but the lady asked me back, "You mean the biscuit? I realized I was in England😂 The latte and cookie were both very good. I would like to go back here again.
