Great restaurant. Really good value for money, tasty food, would definitely come back (with some ladies 😆) I made a comment about the spotlights being directed on the seating needing a nudge (it was boiling me) and comment was well received which is always a good sign.

Opposite St. Barts on Circular Road, this restaurant offers a beautiful ambiance with maroon columns, rust-colored walls, and stunning artwork. Crisp white tablecloths add a classic touch, with a bar welcoming you on the left and the kitchen visible straight ahead. The experience began well with complimentary sourdough bread and nduja butter, which was delicious. However, the food itself was a bit underwhelming. The foie gras terrine was more terrine of other meat than of foie gras, with pockets of meat that masked the foie flavor, falling short of expectations. The Sunday beef roast also left mixed impressions. What shone in the roast were the crispy meat croquette, the gem cabbage, caramelized onions, and rich gravy—all delightful. Unfortunately, the beef topside roast lacked depth, tasting more like a standard cut rather than a high-quality one, even though it was nicely cooked medium-rare. The Yorkshire pudding had a bit too much oil, which pooled unpleasantly. On the bright side, the cocktails were a highlight. The Boulevardier was solid, and the Martinez—a twist on the martini with cherry liqueur and white vermouth—was exceptional.

Fine dining. Tasty, well presented food but my pork dish was rather meat heavy. Sides needed ordering separately. Staff were nice and attentive which I know suits a lot of people but for my liking it felt as though they were trying too had to please.

Wow! Had some wonderful food here, the service was second to none and a lovely atmosphere. The staff were exceptionally knowledgeable about the wines. We ordered the apple sharer dessert which had to be pre-ordered on ordering mains (a nice touch). I loved the touch of choosing my own steak knife with the beef.

I recently visited Origin City and was immediately captivated by its sleek, modern design and stunning architecture. The rich red columns contrasted beautifully with the warm wooden floors, creating a perfect blend of elegance and coziness. The open layout, complemented by sophisticated wall art, makes for a visually engaging space. The seating areas, with their plush, fur-covered chairs, provide a sense of luxury and comfort, making it an ideal place to unwind. The attention to detail in the décor, from the artful lighting to the tasteful furniture arrangement, enhances the overall ambience. Whether you’re seated by the bar or in the main dining area, the atmosphere feels both intimate and inviting. This restaurant is a feast for the senses, and its thoughtful interior design makes it a destination not just for food, but for the experience itself. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a refined yet cozy dining environment. Parking located both outside and in Smithfield underground. Accessible by train (Farringdon Station) Non wheelchair accessible due to outside step and downstairs WC Lunchtime rush hour (12/1pm) extremely busy and noisy

I was so happy to plan a private event at Origin City. The attention to detail was evident every step of the planning process. The team was accommodating of special dietary requests and created a custom menu for our group that was truly memorable, from hors d'oeuvres to dessert. Every bite was delicious.

This restaurant was such a hiden jam. My family loves trying new places, and I have to say this is the best restaurant we've found this year. I don't usually have high expectations for new finds, but this place exceeded my expectations in so many ways. The ambience was classic and clean, the staff were very friendly and professional, and most importantly, the food was excellent and well presented. We went for my wife's birthday and had a ‘Sunday feast’ with a couple of starters, which were absolutely great - the Scotch eggs are a must try. We were told that they source their ingredients directly from farms in Scotland so all the vegetables and meat looked fresh. My only regret was that the portions were large so we couldn't finish what we ordered. Lastly, special thanks to all the staff and the chef who warmly welcome us and made my wife's birthday even more special.

This place needs more recognition but at the same time, I feel like I want to keep it as my hidden gem 💍 I was looking for a place for a family reunion on Friday evening, and everywhere in central was fully booked - but this place popped out and with a high rate on Google, I gave it a go. And I'm absolutely glad I did! The 3-course menu with sparkling wine is worth more than the price (£49), every meal was carefully flavoured and we enjoyed everything. My relatives came thousands of miles away to London for once in life experience. I'm very happy that they provided us a nice, private and top-notch services and food. I will definitely come back 🫶🏻❤️

Disappointed to find that there was only a set menu for lunch. The website shows a set menu and an al la cart so assumed you could have either at lunch. The limited lunch choice left out the options I'd seen and I chose to visit Origin. Plus so much of the menu was an added supplement, so why not just offer both. Service was excellent with 5 start touches, like turning the wine bottle label to face the front after each top up, table linen dust after each course. Really enhanced the experience. Quail scotch eggs and brown sauce were superb. Sausage with texel lamb was dry and over cooked. Nice for a work lunch, wouldn't go for a taste sensation.

I visited with a friend on a Saturday evening. We hadn’t booked but they weren’t busy and we were seated right away. We shared the arancini and scallops to start, after which I had a sirloin steak while my friend had the fillet. These were accompanied by some fries and broccoli, before we finished with the chocolate choux for dessert. I was slightly disappointed with my sirloin which was a bit tough. It wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great either. I should note that I do prefer ribeye but they were sold out on the day and there were only 4 other options on the rather limited steak menu. In contrast everything else I had was very nice, and my friend did enjoy his fillet as well. Service was friendly and quite efficient. Our bill came to £260 of which £60 was spent on drinks. This restaurant showed some potential but given the focus on their self sourced steaks I expected these to be the highlight of the meal rather than the other items. Also with a relatively small selection on offer it was disappointing for my first choice of ribeye to be sold out. Perhaps just an unlucky encounter but I’m not convinced if I would return.

A fantastic place for Sunday lunch. We had the Sunday Feast for two. Generous portion of Black Angus beef, Tamworth pork, and Texel lamb, served family style. Plenty of sides of beef dripping potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese (the best!), greeb beans with almonds and glazed heritage carrots. You won’t leave hungry! Nice dining room; calm and clean. Staff were knowledgable on the wine list, which was very reasonably priced. (Make sure to ask for the full drinks list if they only give you the by the bottle list which they did for us first!). Special shout out to the gentleman who welcomed us in on the front desk. He was clearly managing lots of people and tasks, with professional ease. We will be back for sure!

We went to Origin City to celebrate a birthday. The amuse-bouche of Quail scotch eggs were a delight along with the crispy brawn. For mains I had the 40 day aged black Angus prime cut with beef dripping chips and my wife had the special of Ox liver, mustard mash, rainbow chard, bacon, sauce. I have to say that both were good size meals and not having a starter was a good idea as the meal was extremely filling. Pudding consisted of coffee and hazelnut choux bun with hazelnut ice cream for me and the dark chocolate tart with milk ice cream for my wife. The staff were very helpful and knowledge about the dishes. Overall a great experience and a return visit is definitely on the cards.

Went in mid August for a 2pm sitting on a Sunday for a birthday. I can imagine the place is very weekday heavy being in the city and next to Smithfield but on a Sunday it was DEAD. We were one of three tables for the entire 2.5 hours we were there. The service was excellent thankfully as the staff easily outnumbered the diners. We ordered the sharing roast with the sides which was £32pp, fantastic value in my opinion. We couldn’t get through all the meat or sides. The beef was easily the best part of the meal closely followed by the lamb and roasties. The pork and sides weren’t really up to the same standard and were all a bit underwhelming. Cauli cheese was a bit bland, and so was the beans, carrots and other veg. The Yorkshire pudding wasn’t my preferred style being very puffy and large but the gravy was very good and also refillable! We shared a huge portion of crème brûlée for dessert which would never have been finished solo. Wines and cocktails were reasonably priced and a good selection. Given there were very few tables and the well publicised ethos of the restaurant it was great to see the staff being able to take leftovers from the unused roasts at the end of the day and that they provided Tupperware for any leftovers we wanted to take. £125 for two people - Sharing roast platter - x2 glasses of wine (clos janglis pinot gris) - x1 non alcoholic cocktail - x1 crème brûlée Good value for the product and service, I just wish that the same attention and quality could be afforded to the sides as the cuts of meat in the roast. Will be returning!

During our recent family trip to London, we eagerly anticipated a memorable dining experience at Origin City, hoping for high-quality dishes to match the reputation. Thankfully, the food delivered on that promise, showcasing the culinary excellence we had heard so much about. The service was equally commendable, attentive without being intrusive, which added to the overall pleasant atmosphere. However, our delight was somewhat marred by a rather ridiculous oversight on the bill. More than £10 was charged for plain water, which left us scratching our heads in disbelief. While I’d like to think it was an error, the absurdity of it all hit me hard when I reviewed the receipt on the plane, leaving me feeling foolish for not double-checking earlier. Now, with no chance to rectify it, that bitter taste lingers, overshadowing what could have been a flawless dining experience.

We were delighted with this new restaurant in the Smithfield/Barbican area. Dinner with friends was a great experience, from the friendly welcome to the mutual thanks as we left. Complimentary fizz and canapés led into our choices of a scallop dish and Oysters for starters, and excellent they were. We all chose the slow cooked hogget casseroles, shared between two. Excellent too, as were our desserts. Knowing the provenance of the meats, seafood and wines added to the experience. We had a nice Provence red and it was sensibly priced. Service throughout was excellent and the restaurant was comfortable and not noisy. We had no suggestions for improvement and just need to fix the date to return, and then we’ll try the tasting menu and the paired wines.

Restaurant located in West Smithfield, almost opposite Smithfield’s, just along from old Ferraris cafe on the corner of west Smithfield. Really nice dining space with a really well done open kitchen at rear. Super welcome and attentive service. Tasting menu looked good and excellent fish and meat dishes on a La carte menu as well as a separate meat cuts menu. Amuse Bouche oyster emulsion was excellent as were snacks of crispy brawn and quail scotch eggs. Small but good wine list, very reasonably priced for a city restaurant. Sourcing from their 600-acre estate in Argylle and fish farm in Loch Fyne, the owners create a restaurant that serves a Best of British menu that, generally, is a roaring success. Maybe it was the absence of head chef Graham Chatham on the night we dined that meant some execution problems married the total experience. The Texel Hoggett (sheep) was chewy and tough to cut. The baby gem lettuce and cauliflower were undercooked. However, other dishes showed the extents to which this restaurant can rise. Winner on the night was a starter, Black pig, rabbit, duck and foie gras terrine, pistachio, grape mustard, chicory. The terrine drew together its various meat components into one delightful whole, best slavered with a spritzy light wine like the Loire Sauvignon Blac. Also memorable was Grilled Morteau sausage, Puy lentils, mustard dressing. in which three discs of sausage were laid regimentally in line. As I picked the first one up I was shocked to find it was pregnant, at least for a moment, when I saw its eggs laid out underneath. The truth was more mundane, they were put lentils. The crisp-on-the-outside but puffy-on-the-inside triple-cooked beef dripping chips are a must order. For drinkies, check out the Andrew Killen 2019 Pinot Noir from the Nahe. Like the whole list, it's great value. Andrew Killen is a South African winemaker who has clearly understood how to make wine in Germany.

The restaurant had just started serving breakfast. This was an amazing find on day one. The food was delicious, the service terrific, and the atmosphere sophisticated and relaxed. We were treated to a personal tour of the kitchen by Chef Graham Chatham. Origin is the perfect name, as the business raises it own organic lambs, pigs, and cattle in Scotland, dry-ages all the meat on site, and serves award-winning wines from it vineyard in France. The stone bass is the best I have had in the last 6 months. The skin is grilled to a crispy taste while the fillet did not lose the juiciness. It is difficult to get seasoned, so the chef mixed it with mussels which could be cooked in salty water. Very impressive performance in cooking a simple fish dish. The service is fervent, but we constantly hear cutleries getting dropped to the ground. I understand they are newly opened and it takes time to get fluent in all services. As a someone, who, due to a travel intensive and team dinner loaded job, had the chance to dine in many excellent establishments across the globe, it is a rare occurrence for me to be thoroughly impressed. However, Origin City in London has achieved what many strive for but few accomplish – culinary perfection. This "nose-to-tail" fine dining restaurant is not just a place to eat; it is a symphony of flavors, artistry, and passion. Culinary Excellence: The food here is nothing short of exquisite. Each dish is a testament to the chef's mastery, blending haute cuisine's sophistication with the heartwarming essence of home-cooked meals. The term "Deftig doch Elegant" perfectly encapsulates the experience – hearty, yet crafted with finesse and elegance. Every bite is a journey through rich flavors and textures, leaving you yearning for more. Ambience and Aesthetics: The moment you step inside, you are greeted by an atmosphere that exudes style and comfort. The tasteful music selection complements the stylish furniture, creating an environment that is both upscale and welcoming. The open kitchen is a stage for the talented staff, showcasing their skills and passion for food. It adds an element of theatre to the dining experience, making it not just about the taste but also about the display of craftsmanship. Exceptional Service: The service at Origin City is unparalleled. The staff, with their intuitive understanding of guest needs, ensure a seamless and personalized experience. Special mention must be given to Stuart from the patisserie team. His dedication to his craft is evident, and his Coco Nib Ice Cream is a divine creation that lingers in your memory long after the meal. The small, thoughtful gestures from the kitchen, perfectly timed with the courses, further add an extra layer of delight. Beverage Brilliance: The drink selection is a treasure trove for connoisseurs. The cocktails and house-made liquors are not just drinks; they are stories in a glass, each with its own character and flair. The thought and creativity put into these beverages make them more than just accompaniments to the meal – they are integral to the Origin City experience. In conclusion, Origin City is not just a restaurant; it's a destination for those who seek culinary artistry and exceptional service. It's a place where every detail is crafted with love and precision, making for an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a taste of the extraordinary in London.

Just fantastic. The Chacuterie was incredible. Wines are excellent, well sourced and very keenly priced. It's a must visit.

We did the tasting menu with paired drinks and it was incredible. The food is delicious, varied and plentiful. The paired aperitif, wine and digestif hit the spot. The restaurant is beautiful and having the open kitchen is a lovely touch.

One of the best meals we've ever eaten - came here following Jay Rayner's review in the guardian and wasn't disappointed. Their nose-to-tail ethos wasn't simply a gimmick and was absolutely delicious, a short and straightforward menu cooked by chefs who clearly knew their stuff. Their sticky toffee pudding is simply the best I've ever eaten and I'd come back just for that. Considering this is London the wine list was incredible value, multiple options below £30 and really good quality - we didn't try the cocktails but they offer an interesting mix of classics and house specials (again, really good value). The restaurant itself is lovely and relaxed, tables weren't cramped and we could talk without blaring music! Staff were friendly and attentive without it feeling awkward, and made it such a lovely evening. We came here for my graduation and they very kindly provided petit fours with a congratulations message, and all the staff offered congratulations which was very nice of them. Exciting to see how their menu changes and will definitely be planning a trip back soon.

A superb Sunday roast lunch that was perfect in every detail from a warm welcome, with attentive service in attractive and comfortable surroundings. The beef cooked to perfection and delicous accompaniments. A certain return on our next visit to London

Good food, but one item was cold. Decent wine at good price. Nice welcome. All ok, but for £195, we would expect to be wow-ed and we weren't. Sorry....

Really amazing service. They were attentive and charming. Food was also excellent. There were 12 of us for a 3 course Christmas meal with semi private dining. Only issue was it was a little noisy compared with a private room. Bill was around £130pp with 3 courses, wine and service.

Very nice from the moment you walk in, they take your coat and do some small talk. They are very patient and had my favorite drink: Martini Bianco! I usually don’t take the veggie dishes but this one was very tasty. Would love to come again. Prices are very reasonable too

Fantastic place I can’t wait to revisit. Friday in the city a bit quiet these days but the food/wine/service at Origin were all faultless. Outstanding value for money. They have such an interesting back story too - go discover.

Origin City is still a newcomer, opening about May 2023. Located opposite Smithfield market it presents well from outside and is smartly designed inside with generous space around the tables. The food is excellent with a good varied menu and is also beautifully presented. The wine list is extremely reasonably priced for this style of restaurant. The staff are attentive but not intrusive. Definitely worth a visit. I'll certainly return.

Exceptionally good meal. Chateaubriand among the best I've had. Attentive service and pleasant space. The choice of knife was a fun touch too (- it could be regarded as gimmicky but I really liked it). A faultless meal and the restaurant deserves to succeed. I'll return.

I visited this restaurant with my wife on a couple of occasions, and both experiences was 10/10 , We’ve been greeted and seated by the manager Osama, who went above and beyond making sure we have the best night, by explaining the menu specials for us, recommending the best wines to pair with our food and having a great laugh throughout our dinner . Very knowledgeable staff and fantastic service. food was excellent and atmosphere was simply the best , we really enjoyed every bit of it and we will definetely be returning

Origin City is a newer restaurant inside a former outpost of the mass-market Carluccio's chain. It's so new that they don't even have a Facebook page. About the only good thing I can say is the wine list is affordable. Especially by London prices. We had a reservation for 4 people. We were delayed almost an hour because the table wasn't ready on a Wednesday night. No apologies. Nothing offered. Of course, this just meant we had to sit in the bar and spend more money than intended as we had nothing to do but drink. Staff were on the better side of good, but they had zero knowledge of their wine. Even the sommelier or wine steward had no understanding. Confusingly, they had THREE selections of the same kind of wine (rose sparkling wine from 100% pinot noir). Two are from the same producer; one brut and one demi-sec. IThe other was from a second producer. Staff could not serve the correct wine if their life depended on it because having two wines from the same producer in two different styles is a recipe for disaster. Staff then tried insisting we ordered what they incorrectly served. That issue aside, the food was fine. No complaints. However, the menu was heavy on meat. I expected some seafood options. Scallops? Dover sole? Scottish salmon? Something. For dinner, we ordered two bottles of a different wine -- a 2015 vintage Château de la Cômbe blend of cabernet sauvignon and syrah. It was very good, not least for 31 British pounds. All things considered, I would go here if you want excellent wine by the bottle at a cheap price. Otherwise, there are so many restaurants in London that I would try a few different places before a return visit.

World class fine dining in the heart of Hurstpierpoint, on a Saturday evening you get to choose from either a 6 or 8 course tasting menu with a vegetarian option as well. Each dish was a delight and the paired wines were excellent.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this cafe and it was a great experience worth sharing! I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere making it a great place to relax and enjoy my meal. The menu offered a variety of breakfast options, I tried their breakfast and avocado toast, and it was absolutely phenomenal—perfectly cooked and generous quantity! The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making sure every guest felt welcome. You can see them taking the time to chat around with their regular or non regular customers so nice to see! I highly recommend it for anyone in search of a delicious breakfast and great customer experience. I’ll definitely be returning soon!
