Oriental Taste in Camden

STILL CASH ONLY. The decor will not impress, but the food is really rather decent if a little greasy. The price is very reasonable. I've been eating lunch about once a week for the last few months and keep coming back. Note that the chicken in black bean sauce has a little chilli kick.

Attended recently, order some rice with curry sauce. The curry sauce was nice however the rice tasted funny. Fast forward 6 hours and I have Diarrhea and Vomiting throughout the entire night. Next day even more D+V along with excruciating cramps and pain in my ribs.

On the face of it, this place won't appeal to everybody: the shop front and interior are both a bit on the shabby side, the plastic coated menus felt a bit greasy. So not really a place to make a special trip for but, if you’re in the zone, what you do get is a decent portions of tasty East Asian food at very competitive prices. As soon as I walked in, the chef greeted me with a cheery hello. As soon as I sat down, a friendly lady (perhaps the chef’s wife?) bought me a lunch menu. I went for a chicken Pad Thai – and was immediately questioned about any nut allergy (good to see). The food arrived in 5 mins – a large plate of piping hot Pad Thai - straight from the wok! Man! - I woofed that chow down and was mighty sated! At a shade under £7, in this area, that’s excellent value. So despite its pretty insalubrious appearance, this place is definitely recommended! Ps - it's CASH ONLY.

Seating facilities and always a warm welcome. They are very clued up on food allergies so perfect for those like me! The food has never disappointed. Have so far taken friends and family whom always ask to go back when they visit. For the vegetarians/vegans the food is on point and there is a vast range to choose from. Also opening times are brilliant. You can eat up till 4pm weekdays and then again an hour or so later! You will enjoy the food and the atmosphere Oriental Taste has to offer.

Like PimpShuei, this is another hidden gem. It is a cash-only eatery for dining in or take out. Everything I have had is just soooo good. The food is ideal for the Afro Caribbean palate (they can tone down the flavor and spice if requested). Highly recommended.

Don't be fooled by its appearance. This Canteen Style asian fusion cafe does possibly the best Vietnamese Pho/Soups in London! Reasonably priced with lunchtime set menu offers. Off the bottom Rosebury Ave i'd highly recommend this hidden gem!

Absolutely excellent. Low cost excellent food. I have been going there for several years - it never disappoints. The lunchtime service is very quick.

A friend had recommended this small Chinese cafe. It is located down a small side Street, but definitely worth the trip. The staff had good suggestions and were very helpful. We tried lots of dishes that all had delicious fresh flavours - prawns, chicken, duck and yummy noodles and rice. Excellent value for money and will definitely be going back. Great take away but also note it has a handful of tables to sit in.

Everytime i visit here its like i am home, eat what i like the best and they are the best food ever! I cant wait for them to re open 25th april i just missed a week but excellent chinese food i have ever tried. Thoroughly recommended💛💛💛

Very good foor, lovely people and big portion . I normally eat in here once or twice a week , if u r after a real treat try singapore fried rice noodles with king prawnssss, taste the taste... Very tasty food and friendly service. We ordered two different pad thais, fried rice, sping rolls and drinks, all for under £20. The portions were generous and we would definitely eat here again!

Recently discovered this place and it's now the only Chinese I'll go to. Have yet to be disappointed by any of the dishes. The prices are the same as the others in the area but the quality is far superior. The staff are friendly and have never had an issue with any of my orders.

Today I decided to have a lovely seafood soup, so I went to Oriental taste and asked for one. They charged me £5.50 and I went back so happy to my office only to discover when I opened it that the SEAFOOD SOUP was basically mushrooms sailing on top. I went back thinking there had been a mistake but I was wrong. That was the actual soup and it had a prawn, a squid and 2 fish balls.... and lots of mushrooms.... When I asked for the manager.... there was not manager, when I asked for my money back I got a "NO". I left the soup there and had to go somewhere else to get a decent lunch. The customer service @ Oriental taste sucks

I have been a loyal customer here for several years. Consistently good, my favourite is still the Vietnamese soup, both the Pho and the Bun are delicious. Staff always so eager to please, it's great for lunch.

Very good Chinese - perfect for lunches. The decor is... dated but come for the food and the friendly service! As a local business ourselves, we like to show support when we can!The food is very flavourful though I suspect (like all Chinese restaurants) there's a bit of MSG involved. I would love to see the menu updated to minimise the use of MSG, but other than that, it's just like the way mammi and pappi makes!

This is one of London's hidden gems. Tucked away just off Gray's Inn Road near Farringdon/Holborn, this pan asian restaurant usually only attracts the locals. The food is a mix of asia ranging from Thai curries, Vietnamese soups to classic Cantonese noodles. The portions are large and filling with prices ranging from £5-£7.The decor inside is a little dated and its not somewhere I'd go for an evening meal. However its perfect for getting out of the office at lunchtime, especially in the winter. The waiting staff are also very friendly and often customise dishes to my liking.

I've been to Oriental Taste a dozen or so times this year and have had wonderful food and excellent service on each occasion. The prices are also great, it's a hidden gem.

I love this little place. It's great value for money, friendly staff, lovely authentic food and a very varied menu. I'm sorry but I just cannot understand the bad review on here. Not my experience at all. I will return again and again. I've delayed putting this review on here as one my favourite things about this place is it's rarely busy but I figured they deserve the business!

Overcharged by 70p, forgot the soup, later claimed that we had been given large rices without asking for them, was undercharged for one item, and hadn't ordered the soup. While I looked in to the empty restaurant I was then told "Sorry I have customers. I won't talk to you any more." Avoid like the plague, these guys are a scam. I can see why they are always empty now! I wouldn't recommend these guys to my worse enemy.On top of this, it's an empty, grotty looking restaurant with similar standards of food to any other £8 a head takeaway in the area, only these guys don't deliver. We only used them because they are always empty so we wanted to support a local business.

Tucked away in a little side street just where Camberwell starts off Grays Inn Road, Oriental Taste offers surprisingly good cooking for the price. Much of the menu is the sort of standard Cantonese influenced stuff everyone will be familiar with, but it's all well and freshly done and served in copious quantities with a friendly smile. Prices mostly £5-£7. There's a good set lunch menu. Most worthy of note, however, are the excellent noodle soups and Vietnamese soups: Pho Ga (chicken) and Pho Bo (beef) particularly. Healthy, simple, fresh, in a nice big bowl. One drawback is the eating area gets pretty chilly in winter. They do takeaway too.
