Food is very nice and tasty staff is friendly

Can only rate the service which was poor, as after 1 hour we called. Apparently it was getting made after 2hr 20 we cancelled and got a refund. Too busy Apparently

Mandarin was closed last night so tried for first time…. Never again….

So very disappointed with the food tonight £30 on a meal isn't that cheap anymore. Wasn't even edible the king prawn green peppers was watery and spicy. The pancake rolls tasted of vinegar full of grease. Used to be so much better but now.😷

Very disappointed. I think the owners /management has changed because this used to be an excellent takeaway. Curry sauce was gloopy like it was cold. Separated. Rice was overcooked, cold and stodgy. Chips were cold too. And very stingy with the prawns. Not be going back here.

Got a salt and pepper box and curry sauce it was reasonably priced! Food came hot 🔥. And was large enough!

Ordered the £12 salt and pepper box. Absolute joke 2 chicken balls 2 ribs and a few chunks of chicken in batter. Box was 90% chips absolute rip off. My special fried rice had chicken and char siu pork not a single prawn. Won't return total rip off.

He threw the bag at me and said "I hope you enjoy cold food"

Abusive behaviours in work place Oriental Express Location 46 W Clyde St, Helensburgh G84 8AW orientalexpress-menu.co.uk Manager polly has spoken to me as she wished to hear whatever I’m talking on phone with shop Clients, I then replied with joy:” why don’t I put speaker on so all of you can hear it and will be able to guide me the same time?” Polly then replied:” you should go and talk to your boss if you don’t want to work in here anymore, for so many years I’ve never seen anyone put phone calls on speaker! And why do you think we don’t talk to each other ? Mind your own business!”I was surprised how rude she sounded, as it was just one creative idea to be the solution of her wish to be able to hear our conversation the same time I’m on phone, as I was in my training period I was more than welcome to accept any guidance at all. But then she started to ask my boss to loose me whenever she presents, so my boss had to ask me to leave without paying me , without even tell me previously, I had to go to train station from partick to Helensburgh, to go and return. Time and energy all be challenged a big time, plus polly wasn’t focusing on training me, she was more keen chatting to the girls they hired locally. Today I went to my shift, she had gathered all 2 of the reception to her kitchen side, so that I was left alone, doing all orders by myself, she then told me that I’m making the reception girls nervous, I was curious as every time I encountered with them they always helped me with great patience and friendly faces, so I asked again :” have you actually talked to them about how they feel about me, and they said they are terrified of me?” She said :”yes they said so!” I consider that as a lie then I was told by my boss that I do not need to show up on weekends, that slows down the process as I was very slow, he mentioned you need to finish phone call within 3 minutes, I did notice my phone calls, longest was 2:47 so I consider that he’s been told by Polly about this. As they have been chatting loudly when I was taking orders I have already knew that manager Polly was playing some power game, so I did pay attention about all things that makes me no time for chitchats, and that has became my way of failure, she considered me too serious, even lied about one customer said terrified after talking to me. I have never swore, I spoke with patient and I never made any threat to anyone . She accused both customer and other receptions being afraid of me, which makes no sense. Also I’ve been working nonstop, I couldn’t have any chance to clear those air out, I’m certainly being abused . Plus the owners who promised to hire me didn’t even want to pay me after the hard work I have done according to their chores including moping cleaning , filling prawn crackers… that was the very last day that I received the information that their local staff actually getting paid from the first day, and they didn’t even need to pick up the phone calls for orders , meanwhile I’ve completed every requested they asked for , and more the receptionist was hoping me to socialise them with my sweetness? What a joke this place is. A slave lord is even more fair than them.

I gave 1 star because that’s the lowest i could give. We ordered chicken satay on skewer to start and first of all, when my son bit into this chicken it was slimey and RAW!!! I phoned the shop and i was put on a 5 minute hold just to rushed off the phone with “We’ll send a new one out” SHOCKING! We waited 45 minutes for the new starter on top of the previous 1hr 30min wait. Wouldn’t order from here again, wouldn’t even feed it to my dog! Save your money! Seriously disappointed.

Best Chinese in Helensburgh and staff and owner are lovely

I can’t give this place anything less than 1 star, I spent two hours waiting for my food, called multiple times and every time was told it would be 5-10 more minutes. When I called the shop itself they said the driver had tried to call me but they never did

Food was good but delivery was appalling, I’ve had food from them twice and both times I’ve waited over an hour after the delivery time with no call to say the delivery would be late, unfortunately I will not be ordering from here again purely based on the terrible delivery service

Absolutely lovely food, better than takeaways at home!, Dosent look much from the outside, but dont be put off. I used the website and paid online, they are cash only if you go in and order. Food was ready on time and no wait, huge portions. I would definitely go back, if I lived in the area,but travelling 175 miles for take away is just a bit too far!

Great tasty Chinese takeaway that does gluten-free options too. I am coeliac so this is amazing. Salt and pepper ribs particularly good

The food is nice and usually takes around 20 minutes for delivery. I ordered a two meal tonight for my husband and I. After 40 minutes I rang to see if our meal was nearly ready and was told that it was out for delivery. I live 5 minutes from the restaurant. Half an hour later our meal was delivered. The delivery man was very apologetic. We wont be using it again. I feel our small order was overlooked and missed. This was a Tuesday night, so we didnt expect the l long delay..we have lost trust in it now.

First time we ordered from here. Didn't realize there was so many Chinese takeaways in Helensburgh. This one though, has to be the best so far. Ok, the downside, we had to wait 60 minutes for our food, but when it arrived, it was delicious. And there was so much of it! We ordered two beef chow meins, and sweet and sour pork balls. Just one beef chow mein would have done the two of us. A little cold on arrival, but it comes supplied in large plastic bowls (well the chow mein does), and on this bowl, it says you can reheat in the microwave. I've never seen this before. Will definitely be ordering again as we enjoyed our dinner.

Best Chinese Takeaway I’ve had in years! Good quality ingredients, not greasy at all and my food was still hot when I arrived back home in Arrochar with it. 100% recommend and will be back.

The food that I got was pretty good, not quite what I was expecting but tasty none the less. I've dropped two stars for the ridiculous delivery price (yes it was advertised but £7 was pretty steep) and the fact I had to wait 90 minutes. I did call after 60 minutes, was told 10 and had to wait almost 40 as my order had just been started at the hour point. Really not happy with that and hopefully next time I want a Chinese takeaway my usual choice will be open. I won't rush to use this place again.

Large portions, takeaway for the hungry

The new salt and pepper beef satay is absolutely amazing and customer service is beyond compare and they are always happy to help with questions or changes to dishes.

This used to be the top Chinese delivery service in helensburgh but has went downhill now. We ordered a takeaway a few weeks ago and when it arrived it was cold, we called to Complain and were assured that this would not happen again and were given 20percent off our next order. We ordered tonight and to our horror it arrived stone cold! again We will not be ordering from here again and advise anyone ordering from here to make sure that they have a decent microwave in the house.

Some great dishes made here. They do get busy at the weekend so be prepared to wait a bit for your order. Great prices and lovely management. Tasty chow means my favourite dish here and the sweet chilli chicken. Covid screen up so is safe and antibacterial for hands.

Just had my new year's Day dinner from here. King prawns in batter are amazing and the chicken curry crunches are a meal in there own. Will definitely be back if I survive this food coma

The Oriental Express was established by my parents in 1992. A family business. It's been 12 years since I've been back and since then it's completely under new management. I ordered several old favourite dishes, I can honestly say that I was very impressed with the quality and had the same yummy familiar flavours my family developed. The girls taking the orders were lovely and friendly. Will definitely order from here again the next time I'm back to visit all the way from Oz! Very happy indeed!

Very unhappy with my food delivery Duck very dry and skin was not cooked The curry was very gluppy and no taste The chicken which was supposed to be salt and pepper it was just dry with some onion and a bit of pepper I had it better before and the pancake rolls had no taste what so ever so for me this meal was not good at all a waste of my money I’m really not happy at all

Dreadfull! One star because I had to!! Go anywhere else. Staff friendly but food is not good. I had a chicken Satay and my son Salt and Pepper chicken pieces. Chicken? Certainly not like you should expect, reconstituted reformed processed chicken in a terrible batter and gloopy sauce. The fried rice was good! Lol

A good Chinese Takeaway in Helensburgh. It is open late. I had two good takeaway meals from here this past weekend and would recommend it.
