So disappointed. Disgusting meal. 4 fish suppers the WORST I’ve ever had in 40+ years! Burnt batter, fish was dry like Refried?? Bag dripping with grease.chips not your normal chippy chips! I’m sure they are like aunty bessies home style chucked in a fryer. So salty. Absolutely BOGGING!

Poor quality, more like fried potatoes than chips and I’ve seen bigger minnows for what they call fish. Lukewarm as someone else said. Squid rings you had to hunt for the squid in the so called “squid rings” so much oil/grease the bottom fell out my takeaway bag! Will not be back!

Only a few items available on the menu, which is fine as we are just coming through Covid. However I would expect the dishes that are on to be fresh. My haddock was clearly re-fried, it was dry and the batter was a dark brown colour. The butter was rock hard and with plastic knives impossible to spread, one of the bun's was dry and slightly burnt on top (another customer sent his back). I asked for a real knife to spread the butter, which was a waste of time as the assistant wasn't the slightest bit interested. My husbands cod was ok although a very small portion for the price tag of £9.50! To top it all they were out of vinegar!! As a substitute they gave us HP Brown sauce, bizarre! I did not complain at the time because as I stated the staff were not the least bit interested!

We had a great experience here. The kids meals were home-cooked and of good quality. Adults had the platter from the local smokehouse, which was utterly bomb. The pate needs a special mention. Washed down with a crisp cold glass of white. Nothing approaching a complaint.

Arrived on a cold wet Monday lunchtime with a dog. Sort of dog friendly but not allowed in restaurant only the outside areas that had an awning. We sat down and were given menus and a long list of what seafood wasn’t available which was very disappointing. We ordered our food from the limited menu, 2 of us had the salmon brioche and 2 had the crayfish sandwich, they were expensive at £9 each and came with less than fresh bread and rolls and a few greasy salad leaves. A pot of coleslaw or a more hearty salad would have made these meals better value. Another party member had the tomato and mozzarella salad - a total of 4 bits of tomato was in the salad again we have have had better. Be aware that an automatic service charge of 10% is added to bills. We wont be returning for a few reasons, cold seating area, limited seafood and expensive.

Meal was on the menu as a sort of fish pie with salmon prawn and haddock but when it arrived it was missing two thirds of ingredients. The staff started cleaning the toilet and left toilet door open, very suttle for us to leave. Then a service charge was automatically added to bill. I asked for this to be removed due to poor meal and service but this met with objection. Really not a good experience and will not return.

Our group of 5 had lunch at the Luss Seafood Bar. As others have pointed out, the lunch menu is quite limited but everything we tried was fresh and well prepared. The salmon, supplied by the smokehouse next door, is some of the best I've had. However, the service was very slow and they seem to be understaffed. All the dishes we ordered were cold, yet we still had to wait almost half an hour after ordering.

I have been here 3 times now but every time it gets worse. Not sure why this should be classified as a seafood bar, when all you can get is bread with smoked salmon, which is the same thing you can buy at the smoke house located few meters away for a cheaper price. We had to wait ages to get 3 sandwiches and it was clear the place is understaff. One of the waitress was particularly rude and annoyed by customers. Even simple requests seemed to be impossible, like having an extra slice of bread. I will not go back to this overpriced bar...

Deludente. Braccia rubate all'agricoltura...

We have visited Luss a number of times and are staying nearby. Went in at 2:45 asking if we could have a table and had rather surly reply that the kitchen shuts in 45 mins and that a load of people came in and it wasn’t worth waiting for a table. We observed many people finishing and wanting to leave. Maybe in such a touristy area you can get away with a lack of customer service. When you run your own business in a customer service industry yourself it is sad to experience.

We decided to go here as it was advertised as being able to cater for gluten free, however, upon arrival there was a limited availability of food and when I asked about gluten free bread, the staff said that there was nothing available, I started to complain about the fact I had done my research and it did state on trip advisor that the restaurant could cater for gluten free, one of the staff checked and suddenly they found some gluten free bread, so we ordered the seafood platter (no prices on the board). It was worth the wait but the platter did need a salad with it as there was quite a lot of salmon.

We visited Luss and decided to try out this restaurant. The menu at first glance looked good, small, mainly sandwiches etc but it did appeal to us. The service was good however it took at least 35 minutes for the food (mussels, pate, sandwich, egg/salmon toast.) to arrive and it was not busy at time of ordering. The food looked nicely presented but the portions are very small for the prices you pay. The pate was a huge disappointment, it was a small scoop on the toughest toasted sourdough bread we have ever had. Older clientele like our guests could not even cut through the sourdough toast, they tried to bite it and nearly broke a tooth. The seating area outside was good but could do with cushions as it was low down and again very difficult for any elderly to sit and eat comfortably with no back support. If the management looked at some details like the sourdough being tough it would be a great place however for what the prices are we were not convinced it was worth it. The photos show the size of portions

I was in luss in may and this wasn’t open. Tried again on this visit and was happy to see it open. Very cute - chic might be a obetter word. Sunny when we were there. Small but excellent menu; still serving breakfast when we were there in early afternoon although eggs royal might not qualify as just breakfast food in Scotland. Husband had fantastic fish pie (his first, but not last) and I, excellent mussels. (Aside: mussels need crusty bread, I have run onto squishy bread only in UK). Friendly, fresh, and timely staff.

Visited for lunch today. Rainy day so only the tables inside were being used. Despite it being quieter than normal the service from the kitchen was very very slow. Oysters as a wee started were delicious however the Cullen Skink was watery and tasteless. The crab linguine was absolutely scrumptious and husband said the fish pie was ok. Mixed food review! The 2 glasses of house wine that I had (only because we had to wait ages for the main course) were chilled and beautiful and the waitress service was efficient and friendly. I’d be scared to try it again if the tables outside were being used, can’t imagine how long it would take for food to get out of the kitchen. Also be warned they automatically add a gratuity to the bill!!

Popped in here one evening as I was in a B&B; nearby and just wanted a quick, light meal. If that's all you're looking for it's ok but I certainly wouldn't recommend it for a full dinner because the portions are small and there's not a huge choice. The menu outside lists a good range of options but when you get to your table there's another menu with much fewer choices. However, I suppose this could be because they depend on what is caught locally that day. But in addition to the menu at the table not being that extensive, as soon as I sat down I was given a list of the things they'd run out of, which narrowed down the choice even more. In the end I settled for Caesars salad with smoked salmon and it was really quite dull. There's also a very limited choice of desserts so if you fancy a blow out dinner it's really not the place. I think it's very accurately named a fish 'bar' rather than restaurant.

Had lunch here the other day. It was a sunny weekend day so the village was very crowded. If you are having trouble finding a space, I suggest you go down the road the SmokeHouse is on (the road before you turn for the Seafood Bar). Just past the Smokehouse there seemed to be parking. At the restaurant, I had the half lobster. It was very tasty but way too small, maybe six or sever small bites. I commented on it and was told that sometimes the lobsters they get are very small. The atmosphere was pleasant, we ate outside and the service was good. The rest of the food was fine.

My wife and I recently stopped in Luss (on Loch Lomond) while working our way down from Inverness to Glasgow. It was an off-and-on-again rainy Friday but the village was bustling. While wandering around Luss in the early afternoon, we noticed the Luss Seafood Bar in particular an outdoor table where people were enjoying mounds of mussels (steamed Shetland blue mussels with white wine and garlic cream, according to the posted menu). We decided to come back that evening for dinner. While the restaurant was very active for lunch, there were only three or four tables with patrons that evening. In spite of the lack of diners, service was extremely slow throughout our meal. (It was pleasant though.) We inquired about the mussels but were told that they were out of them. That was unfortunate so we ordered some fresh raw oysters followed by the daily main special (a crab with pasta dish). The oysters arrived without the promised local bread. We had to get our servers attention but eventually got the bread. My wife thought that the oysters were great while I thought that they were okay but weren’t as fresh as advertised. When the pasta finally arrived, it was lukewarm, seemed a little short on the crab meat, and needed more sauce. Maybe we caught them on an off night but we would not return.

We stopped by near the end of service for lunch. Usually not the best of times for good service in most restaurants. The usual hurried cleaning up and staff wanting to go home or take a break was evident. wanting to be seated in the garden on a beautiful sunny day, the waitress that greeted us seemed to not know what to do, hesitantly showed us to a table. Amid the confusion and few too many minutes to order, Caitlin appeared as our angel. She got our in just in time before the kitchen shut down and was just a gem of a waitress. She even moved a very heavy umbrella for us as we were cooking in the sun (yes, this is inb Scotland). Caitlin even came up to the gift shop after we finished and helped there. We made an unplanned visit to Luss Seafood Bar when we were snack-ish and in the area. It turned out to be a great choice. We shared a small seafood platter followed by the cullen skink - it was warm and smoky, and in contrast to other reviewers, we found there was a good amount of fish in it. The smoked mussels were amazing. We tracked them down to the smokehouse just around the corner where we purchased a pack to take home. Service at the seafood bar was pleasant but very slow. We had a friendly waiter from New Zealand. There seemed to be a decent ratio of waiting staff to customers, but my impression is that, on the whole, the staff seemed to be rather inexperienced as they were unable to manage timely service even when the restaurant wasn't full. This was a shame as the food and the restaurant fit-out were both excellent. Thankfully we were on holiday so waiting a long time for food to arrive didn't worry us. As other reviewers have noted, there is a great little gift shop to browse in while you are waiting.

The menu looked good and the outside and inside dining areas looked nice. Table service staff in need of some serious training; no drinks order when seated, didn't ask or provide water for the table, failed to take food orders by order of arrival i.e. people who arrived after us were served before us. I ordered Cullen Skink but couldnt find any fish in the bowl so I asked a waitress if the fish was pureed and she replied no there should be pieces of fish in the dish. She took the bowl away and brought it back with fish in it. There was a long delay between our starter and main and the main didn't require to be cooked as it was seafood platter. All in a very disappointing experience which is a pity as the menu looked interesting. Staff also struggled to keep on top of the tables and didn't clear them quickly or wipe them down properly. As we were leaving one table was stacked full of glasses etc which had not been taken to the dishwasher. My thoughts were 'Gordon Ramsay would have a field day'.

It was the last day of our trip around the Scottish Highlands and on our way to the ferry to Belfast we decided to call into the lovely Loch Lomond lake side village of Luss. The village was busy and we were surprised to be able to get into this cafe/restaurant. The restaurant is combined with a nice tourist type shop and it had a very pleasant atmosphere with some outdoor seating. Three of us went for the fish pie which had salmon, peas, capers, pickled onions and with a side of seaweed which I think is called salicornia (or samphire). In any event it was all delicious. We told them the fish pie was amazing and they were delighted since it was the first day on the menu. In any event we would highly recommend it. The staff were all quite young and very helpful and friendly. The only issue we had, and it seemed to be a recurring issue we had with Scottish restaurants as we travelled around, was the length of time it took to get service and prepare the food. In general it wasn’t a huge problem as we were on holidays with friends, however for some it did cause unease and concern.

Ate here on a visit to Luss at the weekend. Had lovely smoked salmon salad and mussels. However the service was poor, the girl waitress was miserable and dismissive. we waited 40 minutes for our food. We then ordered ice cream at £5.50 for 3 scoops, a scoop being no bigger than a table tennis ball. When we commented we were told ( By the dismissive waitress) that it was from the Isle of Skye if that helps!!! That'll account for being over priced then. Shame as could have been a lovely place. The owner obviously does not read the reviews as there have been several comments about poor service. It makes you wonder if they're not really bothered as it is passing tourist trade! Hence - no tip!!

Great location, pleasant staff but poor portion size and not good value for money. Seem to have a problem with hot food, overall impression is that all is not quite right. Best avoided.

Stopped here on a beautiful sunny day after a boat trip on the very scenic Loch Lomond. Unfortunately the hot options were unavailable due to a problem with their gas supply. Not too much of an issue on a very warm day. We chose the Cullen Skink which was creamy, delicious with the correct ratio of fish to potatoes. Also had the smoked salmon which was very tasty and the dressed crab which was fresh, zingy and delicious. The prices were slightly high for the portion sizes but it’s right next to Loch Lomond so you expect that. We sat in their delightful outside area and really appreciated that there were no ashtrays on the tables (hate getting smoked out dining al fresco!) The service was lovely and friendly and toilets very clean. Would definitely return.

Called in here for lunch with friends today. A glorious sunny day, so we sat in the courtyard. Staff were pleasant for the most part, but service was slow. Before we ordered, we moved table to one out of the sun, and the waitress showed her disapproval of this on her face. Even the drinks took a while to arrive. It was explained to me that kitchen was small, and if there was a rush of customers, as there was today, service would be slow. ( Not really a reason for the arrival of the drinks being so slow!) However, when the food arrived, it was very nice. The fish pie and mussels were most acceptable, but I was disappointed with my dressed crab, as there was so little meat in it. The plate of fish cakes looked a bit bare, and it could have done with more salad on it. The fish and seafood was all certainly fresh, and I feel that with a bit of fine tuning, this restaurant could be excellent.

We had an absolutely lovely meal in this gorgeous restaurant in Luss. I had the Shetland salmon and my husband had the mussels. Which were a bit pricey but still worthwhile. The service was lacking and took forever to get our drinks which was a disappointment. The staff looked confused and seemed to need some guidance. I hope this gets sorted for our next visit. This could have been a five star visit if it wasn’t for the service.

So maybe it was because the sun was shining, or that it was a bank holiday weekend and having cycled from Lomond Shores we were eagerly anticipating our lunch but they have definitely developed something special here! Staff were immediately friendly and engaged and highlighted specials as well as menu items. We opted for three of the small plates to share, approx £7 each, to give us a good sample. The beetroot and gin trout on locally sourced rye bread was fantastic, similarly the plump crayfish cocktail had a good kick and the crab cakes served on a bed of apple and celery was a great combination. Everything exceptionally fresh, we were able to watch the chef pick herbs from the garden that appeared on our plates moments later and the oysters and langoustinewere were fresh off the boat that morning! Clearly there has been a huge investment creating the right feel, the crockery, outside seating area and garden are beautifully presented and add to the experience but for us they also know what they’re doing with the food. Superb, we will definitely be back.

Had quick lunch when visiting this lovely small village. The crab cake and mussel are super fresh and tasty, full of flavor at a very reasonable price. The waitress are very friendly and cute. The chef actually is from California. The layout is so soothing and relax. Both my wife and I agreed it is better than the Michelin one star we had last night at Edinburgh.

Visited today for special lunch. We both chose the special hot smoked salmon salad. Very mean portion of salmon in salad and the salad was bog standard end of bag salad with a few tomatoes. At £11 it was very poor value and dull. Left hungry and dissapointed and all we got was an apology. Will not visit again.

Went for a late lunch and sat on their nice patio, in the sun!!! Had a wild garlic soup, and a seafood chowder, which were both delicious, and very rich! Then we had a salmon tasting platter and crab cakes. Crab cakes was good, so was the salmon platter, but a bit pricey i thought for the amount of salmon. Overall, really good food, and would go back!

Went to celebrate Mums 84th birthday and wished we’d gone elsewhere. The staff were pleasant enough but distracted and inattentive as they were awaiting a golf celebrity and associated entourage. We sat by the door and were blasted with a cold draught every time it opened and closed. No mozzarella to go with the tomato salad. Tiny amounts of butter with bread for smoked salmon, we got more in request.

The three of us dropped into this smart and friendly restaurant at 1.30 on a Tuesday and easily found a table. We all ordered that Scottish favourite Cullen Skink - excellent fish, potatoes and creamy soup. Excellent value at £6 a time. Good atmosphere and good service.

Lo dicho en el título, no llega a decepcionar pero pese a que es de buena calidad se queda escaso en comparación con los precios altos. Buen trato, buen sitio, buen ambiente, calidad alta.... Pero al salir te apetece un bocata jamón.

To start with I get mussels every chance I get ,so I know good from bad, these are without doubt the best and uniformed size I have tasted, the sauce was a little strange for my tastebuds but it brought out the flavour of the meat very nicely, staff were very pleasant and attentive,I think having the smokehouse outlet next door gives patrons the confidence of having fresh food on the table because they are providing for more outlets than the restaurant ,I defo be back

That's right, couldn't agree more, even in a post-Brexit style. What better to do than have a visit to Luss for a Ne'erday meander. The sights (Ben Lomond), the weather (rain, cold), the drivers (completely ignoring the Do Not Enter signs) and this delightful gift shop / seafood cafe – complete with blankets to take with you, if you so desired to sit outside. What an excellent idea in our balmy clime. Haven't seen this since a visit to Deutschland.

We really enjoyed the food here, having found other places in the area less than interesting in what they provide (large portions catering to Tourists). We shared the platter which included pate, a salad with salmon and hot smoked salmon as well as the crab salad, a lovely much for two. We were envious of other's Fish Pie and thought the non fish selections looked great as well. The setting was also nicer than many others in the area.

Lovely staff but all so slow! We arrived at 1.10 on a Sunday and by 1.50 the cafe was full (about 20 covers) and no one was eating. There were no oysters or mussels, a common complaint, according to the reviews, but most people were only told when they were ready to order.

Carte ridiculement petite.

I am giving you an excellent review based on previous visits but arrived Thursday 14th November at 11:15 and it was closed. Website says open at 10:00 and opening time on door says 10:30. Several people left disappointed during my 20min seat on bench. Off to Port Bannatyne for my brunch. Can you update your opening hours on door and social media platforms.

You cant pay for food, and drinks all at once as she gets confused if you put 3 pints behind the bar. To much for her .Her attitude stinks when i says i will pay now. No go to the cash machine.. What an absolute find. This place was amazing in every way. The staff are welcoming, friendly and so attentive. The food was out of this world. Would definitely recommend 100% and will be back. Just wish we had found it at the start of our holiday and not at the end
