This is our local, I've been coming for years, but in the past couple of years, I got my partner into it too. I haven't had it in a while as I was pregnant last year and just couldn't deal with the idea of Chinese. But!! I finally fancied one, and it is still. The. Best. Ever. (personally, of course) The food is so dang good.

NEW ORIENTAL CITY PINHOE ABSOLUTELY APPUALING Ordered 6.20pm (told 1 hour till food arrived) Rang 7.22pm to check out for delivery was told it was Rang 7.53 still told out for delivery Rang 8.43 and got just got left on the side so hung up They Rang me 8.54 and tried telling me there was an issue needless to say I was less than polite and even more so when they told me they couldn't refund on my card and would drive me round the cash tomorrow. In then end just hung up and I will charge back when payment has been cleared in my account. ABSOLUTE SHAMBLES

The isian lady behind the counter REALLY needs some lessons in manners, vile woman who always has an issue, and argues with you if try complain about anything, it's actually baffling that she's still.employed, so must be an owner.

Disgusting fish and chips, waste of money. We'll never go back there again and used to go there quite often.

Went in there with my service dog no was told I want alowed in there by law but they still refused which is highly disgusting you wouldn’t say no to a guide dog I have attached the evidence below of she’s perfect with in her rights as in my dog to be in there

Iv been a regular customer now for a couple of years and always loved the food that Iv always ignored the fact that there is a member of staff that is plain rude. The last few orders Iv had have been below mediocre and Iv persisted hoping that it was just a couple of one offs but tonight it was VILE and over 30 minutes late and wrong order, I phoned up to explain and just well it’s the same chef! Never again. All food was greasy and cold and has gone in the bin.

I used the Oriental City take away shop regularly. The food is excellent and the lady taking orders is very friendly and helpful,My favourite Chinese take away shop in Exeter,recommended to my family and friends.

I called last night to order Chinese and was asking for prices and the lady in F.O.H was getting very impatient and rude. She then cancelled my order with out my permission so my children was left without food last night. Do not visit here, worst Chinese in Exeter.

I visited tonight (3rd visit) and placed my order with a lady behind the counter , while I sat down to wait I checked my receipt and quickly realised one of the items was incorrect so I politely informed the same lady who was then incredibly rude and snappy and told me she'd read the order bk to me and It was my mistake, I said that we'd obviously misheard each other and there was no need to be so rude, ..she charged me again for the correct amount and then issued a separate refund for the difference ,all done with a stinking attitude, so basically so far I've been charged twice ( total £35) but only refunded £3 , I keep checking my bank app but not holding my breathe.. The same lady served me on my last visit too and she was offhand then as well, so I'm not willing to give it another chance and will return to Poo lee

We normally enjoy a takeaway from here but we’ve just had one delivered tonight and halfway through our meal we found a large thick black hair in one of the dishes. It immediately put everyone off their food, we called the restaurant to advise them and rather than be apologetic they were questioning us and asking how much of the food we had eaten and implying that one hair really wasn’t that bad !!! They offered to refund us for the dish with the hair in but we said that we had been put off all our food, they then wanted to come and pick the order up then for us to call them back. We said that it was fine for them to come and collect the food. That never happened and several phone calls later they have still not collected the food, instead they have tried to suggest yet again that a hair in your food is somehow acceptable and their actual words were, it happens sometimes. The other thing they suggested was that because we had eaten some of the food we must have been happy with it, I mean really, how did they expect us to have found a hair without eating any of the food 🤷🏼‍♂️ We could hear colleagues in the background saying well if they weren’t happy with it why did they eat it, there’s only so many times we could explain the same thing. It shouldn’t matter whether you find the hair on your first mouthful or your last in no way should the people who provided your food suggest that it was acceptable, especially with Covid etc at the moment. We always order food from here and must have spent a fortune over the years, this meal cost £45 and for them to quibble over that amount of money and try to justify the clear lack of hygiene is shocking, they clearly care more about money than they do about their customers, their food hygiene and their reputation. We have officially complained to the authorities, for the takeaway to be as dismissive as they were is concerning, we will certainly be telling everyone we know not to order from their again and we hope that once the authorities have investigated they will be made to put the proper hygiene measures in place. Oh and if anyone wants a half eaten Chinese their more than welcome, hair included, although we may keep that so it can be tested by the food standards agency. Final warning, DO NOT GO NEAR THIS PLACE. Such a shame as used to be great.

I regret that this was the most unappetising takeaway Chinese meal we have ever had. I cannot blame Covid restrictions as I have perfect Indian curries delivered regularly. The prawn crackers and spring rolls were ok but what could go wrong with them? One would have needed a microscope to find the egg in the egg fried rice, the plum sauce for the duck was not as I have had in the past elsewhere but a rather thin, mildly sweet and unpleasant broth and the chicken Chow mein had plenty of 'Chow' and 'mein' but very little chicken (though the rare tiny piece of meat actually defied identity).Some reviewers have given them 5 stars I notice so maybe we were unlucky but I don't feel I will ever give them another try and I cannot recommend them.

We have had several takeaways from here in the past and there's been no problem. However I called this time to ask if they could do dishes with no MSG as it has started to leave me with a head ache. The man on the phone didn't know what Monosodium Glutamate was. I tried to explain but he said no sorry can't do. Funny as the last take away we had from here was MSG free. So the takeaway along the road had my business instead, they were very aware about MSG and other allergies. I suggest anyone with any allergies avoids this takeaway as there's nothing on their menu about allergies, and the takeaway a stone's throw away has a very detailed allergies list.

Hemos utilizado y recomendado Oriental City, por lo que es realmente decepcionante decir lo mal que fue su servicio y actitud hoy. Habiéndolos elegido para la primera comida para llevar en 10 semanas, ordenamos la entrega poco después de las 6. 00 pm. Después de una hora y media, llamamos para saber dónde estaba nuestro pedido, ¡solo para que nos dijeran que había sido entregado! Dijeron que era un cliente habitual que aceptaba el pedido, el mismo número de casa, diferente camino. No nos habían llamado y se negaron a hacerlo para verificar el número. No se disculparon y no les preocupaba que ambos no estuviéramos contentos y que íbamos a cancelar el pago. Tenemos mucho tu dinero, no importa, duro. Hubiera dado cero pero no podemos.

Siempre recibo mi chino de Oriental City. Realmente es una comida encantadora, he estado yendo allí durante 5 años y nunca tuve una duff. ESPECÍFICAMENTE llamado por teléfono para hacer un pedido ya que soy alérgico a dos cosas. Mi pedido llega DOS HORAS después de realizarlo, ¡con una de las cosas que he verificado con ellos no estará allí! Aparte de eso, lo que podía comer era básicamente no comestible. Así que mi novio y yo pedimos de esta comida para llevar después de una semana de basura bonita como un regalo. Lo que recibimos fue bastante horrible, el pollo crujiente era inexistente (masa sin pizca de pollo) su cerdo estaba cocinado y seco y no tenía sabor. Llamamos al lugar para informarles que estaban muy a la defensiva y rechazaron un reembolso hasta que continuáramos con ellos. El conductor de la entrega ahora viene a comprobar que no hemos comido más de la mitad de la comida horrible. Fueron asquerosamente groseros y cuando intenté hablar con el gerente porque mi novio no tuvo suerte y trabajé en muchos restaurantes, ella no me escuchó y me dijo que tenía un cliente y luego colgó. ¿Ahora vamos de camino al supermercado para cenar después de pasar 25?

This has to be the worst Takeaway in the whole of the Exeter area.We ordered a takeaway at 5.30pm for delivery which starts at 6.00pm at 7.15pm the food arrived missing the 1st item I had ordered, even though the guy on the end of the phone repeated the order back to me twice.I rang to advise that the item was missing and the guy on the phone was very rude and told me I would have to wait for another hour before he could get the missing item to me, in the mean time the delivery man was really apologetic.I do not expect to be shouted at down the telephone when clearly they had got the order wrong, he then laughed and put the phone down.If it hadn’t been for the great delivery guy I would still be waiting for the missing item.There was no reduction in the cost of the meal and no apology.The food was stewed, with no taste and not worth a penny. Even the dog turned his nose up at it.Never again will I phone for a takeaway from here.They need to learn some Customer Service, this costs nothing.You have lost this customer for good.

Visited the new take away to the side of main restaurant. Waited over 50 minutes for a take away. They lost my ticket and then wouldn’t admit it. No apologies given. Avoid if you are in a hurry

Sin embargo, hemos utilizado su nueva comida para llevar varias veces desde que se abrió. Hasta esta noche cuando llamé para una comida para llevar. So I’ve been to this Chinese quite a lot and recently it’s absolutely dreadful, everything is so oily and makes me really ill. It also tastes like it was made at least a week ago. I won’t be going back to this place, it’s put me off Chinese for life.

Just love the food the service and the atmosphere. Easy to find very clean and the staff are very helpful polite and friendly. Would highly advise a visit

After a huge number of orders over the last 5 years we’ve decided not to use OC anymore and have binned the menus. On numerous occasions we’ve ordered chow mein with rice noodles as the wife has the gluten intolerance thingy.. and on numerous occasions OC have delivered the wrong one. We spell it out for them and try to clearly state the need for rice noodles and we still get wheat noodles. Often OC either credit or swop the order, however last time the chap on the phone decided it was home time and he couldn’t be any less interested in resolving the issue. I can tolerate incompetence (and shame on me for persisting) but indifference and arrogance is insufferable. The food is normally fine, but don’t expect miracles if they mess it up which is equally likely.

Tonight I had a very disappointing experience. I ordered #51 (scallops with vegetables) and received #50 (scallops with ginger). Now, I hate ginger. Having bitten into a large piece of ginger, I phoned Oriental City to ask why I received the wrong order. They told me they always put ginger with every single "vegetable" order and if I don´t like ginger, I should have told them. It took 8 min on the phone for her to keep telling me I should have informed them even if the menu did not mention ginger to be part of the dish. Clearly my fault. I won´t be ordering there again.Over the last few month we possibly ordered 10 odd times from OC but had occational stomach problemes.. It could be because of too much glutamate in the dishes, my guess.

Having moved away from the area for work, and having only recently moved back, my wife and I haven't used The Oriental City for a couple of years.In the past, we had always been delighted with the meals, either sitting in the restaurant or having a take-away. The restaurant was always pretty busy and normally there were at least 2 or more people waiting for their take-away.Yesterday evening at around 9.00 p.m. we stopped off on our way home for a take-away. there were no diners in the restaurant and there was no-one waiting for a take-away.We ordrered our take-away, (nothing exciting), barbecued spare ribs in sauce, sweet & sour chicken balls in batter and house special fried rice.When we ate our meal, we were very disappointed. The ribs had been overcooked. The meat, such as there was, dry on the bone, but the sauce was fine. The chicken in batter was also disappointing, as the batter was soggy and more like a sponge pudding. The sweet & sour sauce tasted as though it had come out of a tin or jar, with no pineapple, peppers or ginger as we had become used to when last visiting. The special fried rice was acceptable, but not up to the quality we can remembering enjoying,We can only conclude that the premises have changed hands since our last visit and it will be another couple of years before try this establishment again.

Visited with friends for a meal on Saturday evening.The restaurant was quiet but looked beautiful as well as very clean.We ordered a meat and fish sharing platter to start which was delicious and very reasonable. The mains were also faultless. We should have listened to the waitress when she said we had ordered a lot of food - 1 bowl of rice and 1 bowl of noodles would have been ample to share between the 4 of us along with our other dishes - we know for next time!! We also had a selection of beef, pork and duck dishes some of which were served on flames on a sizzling plate. They kindly boxed up our leftovers to take home.Waiting staff were friendly and attentive and our whole bill including wine came to less that £140. We all felt full the following day.already looking forward to visiting again.

Use this restaurant frequently for take away food. The meals are always excellent and would highly recommend.

I have had takeaway Chinese delivered from this restaurant for many years but this particular order of Beef with Green Pepper in Black Bean Sauce was stewed, the beef was tough the peppers soft & the black bean sauce was like an oil slick.The Singapore Chow Mein was all the same colour brown, the prawns were hard as was all of the meat, the beansprouts along with the onions were floppy no taste of any spices at all, everything was just stuck together, this had been stewing for a long time & was not freshly cooked.Next came Stir Fried Vegatables with Fresh Ginger & Spring Onions there was only 1 piece of red pepper 4 small pieces of broccoli, No Spring Onions, No Ginger, the whole things was floating in a grey dish water sauce, this had not been stir fried.The Egg Fried Rice was in one great blob all stuck together. The chips were brown not golden, all floppy & Cold.Even the Prawn Crackers tasted of grease.This has to go down as the Worst Takeaway I have ever eaten, or should I say in this case was UNABLE to eat as it was that disgusting.You should be ASHAMED for delivering such a meal not worth 1p let alone £23.20

This is always a great place to visit. Friendly efficient staff, excellent menu and very reasonable. The restaurant is very comfortable and the booth setup makes it cosy. It's also an excellent takeaway and if you call up and order delivery, they almost always do it quicker than you expect.

Good service and good food (usually). We had delivery times between 17min and 100min.The restaurant is very spacious, so far we only used the take away service.

This chinese does have a reputation in Exeter for being good food, however unfortunately we have found that the delivery service is shocking. We ordered a home delivery from Oriental City in October 2016; they told us it'll take up to an hour but after 1 hour and 30 minutes it hadnt arrived. We rang the restaurant to be told its on the way; 10 minutes later it did finally arrive. The delivery driver was very apologetic and the food was nice and hot.On New Year Eve we decided to get a takeaway from here again; we rang up early and placed an order and was told it'll be with us in 1 hour 30 minutes. It did arrive within an hour but it was not even luke warm. Its the first time I have ever had to microwave takeaway food to warm it to a satisfactory temperature. We didnt enjoy the meal and felt for the price we paid we expected much better. We will not be doing a home delivery from here again.

A local favourite with good service and delicious food.We visited to eat in their restaurant to take advantage of their Early Bird special.The service was attentive and courteous with complimentary prawn crackers.Our food was very good. The right temperature and we didn't have to wait long at all for it to arrive. The portions were very generous. So much so that I had to take half home!I have no hesitation in recommending the restaurant.

Ordered meal for delivery and was informed would be about an hour. I said that was fine but could they ensure food was hot as last two times food was nearly cold. Waited an hour and a half and called in and was informed it was with the driver????. Nearly two hours and the food arrived, driver very apologetic.Putting it onto plates we sat down and once again it was nearly cold. Very disappointed, food was dumped and I decided to call and tell them that was the last time we would be using them. Was informed that they would get the driver back to pick up the food and our money would be refunded. Explained that we had already dumped the food and were more than happy to forgo the £20 and not repeat the experience again. Great pity as they seem to place all importance on the restaurant at the detriment of home delivery customers.

We ordered a takeaway from here and we're looking forward to it but however were very disappointed as our Kung po chilli duck had absolutely no duck in it just the skin, and our satay chicken was watery and did not taste how stay should taste ! Don't think we will get a takeaway from here again

This restaurant was recommended by a friend. It turns out it's really adequately priced with a great selection on the menu. Definitely lived up to the recommendation. We went on a Wednesday night and it was really really quiet inside. Bizarre for such a nice venue. More people should visit here, it's definitely worth it!!

We dinner here as a family during our holidays. The food was exquisite. So much so on our last night of our holiday we chose to go back. Best Chinese food by far cannot fault it.

The Take away is quite good, with many options for vegetarians and meat lovers alike. Freshly cooked and arrives nice and hot at our home. We've like all the dishes we've tried, but our favorite is the Hunan Beef. Try it with the Egg Fried Rice.

Really lovely Chinese food. Vegetarians often miss out on the good flavours when it comes to Chinese take-aways, but Oriental City is always brilliant. Braised Tofu is lovely and they have different options of stir-fried vegetables, which all actually taste different and all delicious - we love the ginger + spring onion (£4.60), and fried noodles with beansprouts (£4.00).

Eaten in the restaurant 3 times, all family gatherings with 8+ people, slow service, long wait between courses and small portions. Food is average to good but the atmosphere is non existent and we now gather elsewhere.On the other hand the take away is superb, be prepared to wait as most food is cooked fresh, have a drink from the (expensive) bar whilst checking the special deals for early weekday evenings.

Visited here last night for a friends birthday. Couldn't really have been much worse! Be warned, if checking the online menu before your visit take no notice of the prices at all! Everything is approx £2-3 more expensive than advertised, including the wines. When queried we were told that they have the right to charge what they like! We were also told prior to the visit that we could request separate bills - not true, they refused point blank. Food came out in drubs and drabs and my main had to be reordered. When it eventually came I asked for the rice to be reheated only to have it snatched away and returned ten minutes later at which point the main dish was cold!Generally bad service all round. Not surprisingly we were the only ones in there after the first half hour when there were two other couples eating and about four waiting for takeaway. Will never eat there again!

have used this Chinese since it opened both in the restaurant and the home delivery but recently the food has been awful poor cooking and arriving cold.have tried to stick with it but tonight was the final straw undercooked food and rice that had clearly been in the wok for some time.no apologies they requested that I re pack the meal for collection.they inform me that they had a new chef in fact I have been informed that they now have three Eastern european people cooking.i have no problem with this but its clear they cannot cook chinese.Poor quality chinese cooking thanks for the past but all things I suppose end.

For many years I have used this restaurant and was always amazed at how great they got the food to taste, look and generous in portion sizes. The last few meals this last six months have been sub standard. The ribs are just gristle and fat deep fried, the starters always dried out, the soup thick and gelatinous and that's from the selection of starters. Mains (I try to alternate) have all been served in pretty much the same dish water consistency sauce for every one. Gone are the lush rich tasting individual dishes, it's all standard broth, different meat.I used to argue that the cost of their food was worth it for the delight of the meal you received, not any more. If it has changed hands then that's a shame as I shan't be using them again. Nothing here to make them stand out from any other mediocre Chinese restaurant anymore.

Food is great along with portion sizes quite big. Service friendly and good layout in restaurant. If you enjoy Chinese this place is a must. Have been here on a dozen occasions and can't fault it yet! Can't say much more than that - you won't be disappointed.

We have eaten in and used their takeaway service....a year ago things were great there - excellent food and service, but something has changed - we've requested 'no prawns' on our dishes - yet they continue to ignore us. We had a chicken bone in a noodle dish.Offered credit note in the past - (we'll note it in our'book' they said) but when came to redeem it - no one knows anything about it!)Poor managment response to last complaint .....NEVER again - you've had your chance - and more!

Ordered takeaway for delivery. Phoned 50 mins later as nothing had arrived to be told it had just left kitchen. 35 mins later it arrived. Food was like warm, chicken was tough, main meal was lacking in sauce. Overall very disappointed.

I use this restaurant a lot when staying on business, on the last two occasions the food has barely been warm, on collection once and on delivery once.Tonight i collected and they made a nistake on one of the dishes, i called and was told to bring it back, i pointed out the rest would get cold and i didnt want to come back so please make a note of it and next time do me a favour?No, bring it back the boss wants to see it before we can do anything! Bring it after youve eaten the rest.....Whay happened to this place? It used to be so good, it wont be getting my regular cash anymore!

We have been getting takeaways from here for many years and they never dissapoint. Food always consistent. Extensive menu.

We use to go once a week. Food was cold we had to reheat the food! We also found a hair in the food only offered 10%off we would not recommend and return in a hurry also we didn't take the 10% off

We have used Oriental city for the past 8 years for both take away food and occasionally to dine in. The food has always been very good with a wide range of dishes to choose from. The seafood in particular is very good and has never thus far been overcooked (a pet hate of my wife). Unlike some of the reviewers we have always received what we ordered and have always enjoyed it. My only criticism is the poor attitude of the staff who give the impression that they couldn't give a damn whether you ever came back? As we have been going there for so long I can only assume this reflects the attitude of the owners as the staff have come and gone but the behaviour has continued.

The food is decent but I have noticed that they charge an extra £2 in delivery for st Leonard's but not for heavitree even though heavitree is further away. This annoys me and I wonder if it's even legal to charge someone extra just because of where they live as it is obviously not related to distance.

Service here for takeaway is terrible, the restaurant from past experience is even worse. We've had food delivered before and they have forgotten things, then would only deliver the things they had missed if we paid the delivery charge again.This evening we decided to try them once more but to collect takeaway, get home and there is yet again food missing! Called to see if they could deliver but all they could do was have them ready to collect again to which we explained the rest of the food for the family would be cold. They didn't care. They eventually said we could have the items that were missed free next time..... the ones we had already paid for which had been forgotten! Food isn't good enough to be worth the hassle, will never be going back!!

Really wanted it to be a good evening for me and my partner. A night out to get over a difficult few day. But was not to be. Don't have the chicken with oriental vegetables unless you love a glutinous cornflour mass of nasty looking chicken. Also the boiled rice was rather lumpy. £45.00 for a disappointing meal. Take heed diners! x

I've been going to OC for over two years- it is my local, and I'd say we get food from there at least once a month, mostly we get delivery and I don't think we have waited more that 45 minutes for our £60 of food with many specifics. They had never got our order wrong (which would result in a hospital trip), they have never been rude or got annoyed with our additions or subtraction to a dish or order - and being a child of the food industry, I can tell you that even I'm embarrassed to say we change almost every dish (due to severe allergies, intolerance and religious beliefs). Oriental City was there when we moved house and we're dealing with all of the issues of moving your life whilst being pregnant, helped me through morning sickness/cravings, exhaustion when I was a new mum, date nights - trying to balance being a couple and new parents and lazy weekends were we don't want to do anything. Great food, awesome flavours, helpful and caring staff, quick service (whether eating-in or delivery) and the best portions. I've eaten at so many restaurants and had many takeaways all over the country but this place is honestly one of my favourite restaurants of all time.

These d!ckholes.. Ordered at 8:30 they said it would be an hour. After it was 9:45 started calling to ask where the hell it was, they said it was on its way, then didn't bother answering our calls or any kind of call to notify us of lateness. We gave up and ordered pizza. They rang waking us up at 11pm, cheeky bastards. Absolutely disgusted and won't be bothering with these again, avoid.

It was fresh hot succulent food ,which was topped up regular too ,and was defiantly value for money I will go back

Visited on a Sunday night and had authentic chinese food that included sizzling prawns and kung po hot chili chicken. The food was good but atmosphere was quite however this could be just because it was a sunday night.

After having a couple of lovely meals here and praising this establishment, we decided to pick up a takeaway from them. It was shocking.... Big pieces of bone in the chicken breast balls and worst of all, my son ordered mixed seafood curry, and found, what could only be described as small stones in it. It definitely wasn't any kind of overcooked food. We rang them, they didn't seem over concerned and said we could pop by for a free curry..... Um, not a chance, put us off going there for life!!

Fab food, fab staff, fab decour, fab service! Best Chinese meal I've ever tasted. They do takeaway too! Highly recommend... Can't wait to return.

Wide selection of meat, fish, and veggie dishes. Good service from friendly staff. This place never seems to be very busy, I think this is mostly due to the location as it is a bit out of town. Well worth looking up if you are visiting Exeter. I can't think of a better chinese in Exeter. It also does excellent takeaway and has a bar so you can have a pint while you wait.

The service and the food was excellent. Plenty of variety on the menu. We were not hindered or hurried. Wine was good quality and reasonable price.All had a lovely evening but no atmosphere within as the restaurant was extremely quiet.

Just want to make everyone away that they are now charging £1 to use a debit card - regardless of the amount you spend. Which is very disappointing as you don't have to anywhere else, and doesn't say so on the menus or when you place you order. The food was good and portion size was huge (sort of makes up for the extra charge)

The chef catered to my husbands requests for no fish, egg or garlic......no problems....food was delicious and service great....excellent chinese beer too!

Not only did they recieve a food hygiene rating of 1 in October now as from January 1st they are charging an extra £1 if you use a Debit card

We visited friends in Exeter and ordered takeaway from here,the lady on the end of the phone was very helpful,reading my order back to me and then telling me how much it would cost.We collected our order,everything was there,it was cooked perfectly and plenty of it.... Will definitely use again if we are in the area.

Ordered our food. Took them half an hour to ring us to say they hadn't got any 7UP and what would we like instead. This added another 50 minutes onto our waiting time for delivery. Overall, poor experience. Didn't even ring the door bell to announce their arrival. expected me to keep a look out or they wouldn't get our food to us. TERRIBLE.But the food was tasty. So there's that..

We had a lovely evening, the food was amazing and the staff were friendly. I will be recommending Oriental City to my friends and will be revisiting

We went in a big group (8) to celebrate the Chinese New year. I had met the owner in a cash and carry and was impressed by him. However on the night we were very disappointed by the lack of imagination as there were no special meals for the Chinese New Year. The staff seemed more concerned about dealing with the takaway side which was cooked in the same kitchen as the quite large restaurant. Service was poor and very unfriendly and unhelpful. Personally I would have left before ordering but we decided it would be too difficult to find somewhere else on a Saturday night for 8 people. I even asked to speak to the manager but was told she was in the kitchen and too busy to come out. When the food came the quality was very good and varied. Had teh service and atmosphere been up to teh standard of the food and décor I would go regularly. Not sure I would try it again after this experience.

Although I was not impressed on my previous visit, decided to give this restaurant another try.Arrived at 12.30pm to find it was closed. Apparently they no longer open at lunchtimes, shame they haven't bothered to put a notice on the door saying this. Their opening hours are still as before both on the door and their website.

Went here today for the lunchtime buffet. Arrived just after the opening time of 12pm, rather surprised to be told that the food was not ready. Had to wait just under half an hour!!Went back for a second helping to find there was no rice, hardly any noodles and several dishes had nearly gone and not been refilled. There were no more than a dozen customers in there so not exactly busy. Had to wait at least ten minutes for the fresh food to arrive. If I had been here on a lunch break from work, would have been very annoyed. The food wasn't bad but not very hot.To sum up, the dreadful service will definitely stop me going back. If they cannot cope with so few customers they really shouldn't bother !

I ordered a takeaway from the restaurant at 5:30 of a Monday night. I was told it would be with me within the hour I had to phone twice to chase up the order. I was told that it left the restaurant with the driver at 6:20, it arrived at my house (only 4 miles from the restaurant) at 7 o clock it was at best warm!! The driver (a nice bloke) informed me that the delivery service does not start until 6 so the food was obviously left standing for half an hour before it even left the restaurant...... The food itself was 'ok' but not the most flavoursome meal I have ever had

Ordered food at 7.12pm, and was told it would be a 45min wait. 8pm came and we were told our order was just leaving the kitchen and would be with us shortly! 25minutes later I was forced to call again, spoke to the same boy who told me he would chase the driver and call back. I asked for a manager to ring me. The 'manager' then called and told me the boy we had spoken to at 8pm, did not know when orders were in the kitchen so wasn't sure why he had told us this. She said the driver was 10mins away, we live 5 from the restaurant. I asked for compensation and she didn't even seem to care. The delivery driver turned up and told me some rubbish about the football being on so he was busy and hot footed it to the car which he had a woman travelling around with him! Less than impressed, won't be using them again

We used to use Oriental City as our Chinese takeaway of choice until about two years ago when the quality of the products dropped significantly and didn't visit again.Tonight I gave it a second chance, my girlfriend was out for the night and I couldn't be bothered to just cook for myself.I ordered myself vegetable spring rolls, Malaysian Satay Chicken and Egg fried Rice and waited about 30 minutes from placing the order to walking out with it.I live less than a 5 minute drive away but by the time I got in the food was not hot enough to eat and needed a blast in the microwave to get it up to temperature which leads me to believe that it was not as hot as it should have been when I left the restaurant.When I got to eating the meal it was obvious that the produce was still pretty rubbish, the meat was rubbery and not at all like even a half decent meat product. the vegatables was lank, over cooked and floopy, the spring roll exteria was too thick and not crispy throughout, more like soggy cardboard than a crispy delight, the meal was just not at all appetising.All in all I was quite dissappointed with the food and kind of wished I had cooked for myself instead. Needless to say we will definately not be back again, this place has had it's second chance so game over I'm afraid.

And I cannot believe it is now £16.50!!Went once over a year ago and never returned. Bland food, everything is much the same.Tacky decor...such a shame wonderful Independent Chinese Restaurants have been replaced by such places....support the Independants!1

Comedy of errors from the staff left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Firstly they tried to suggest that my 4 yr old son would have to pay £16.50 for the feast as my wife and I were having the feast. All he wanted was some nuggets and chips. They agreed in the end to let him have the kids menu but why argue with your customers in front of other customers? Order a bottle of Asti.... They didn't have any, order extra prawn crackers, they never came, ordered seaweed, it never came. Come to pay, bottle of Asti on bill!!! Staff and management wandering around sullenly, and wearing jeans and trainers. The food was good as it usually is but WONT BE RETURNING on the basis of service. Avoid this place, they make you feel like you're not welcome.

thoroughly enjoyed our momentous feast a few weeks ago with friends at this lovely contemporary chinese restaurant. from sunday to thursday, for a set price and buying at least 1 drink, you can choose from the main menu any dish you want, as many as you can eat. excessive orders wil be charged extra which is only fair. as there were eight of us, we were able to sample lots of different dishes. all very authentic and tasty. i especially like the pan stickers, and if i may say so myself, as good as the ones i make.will defintely revisit with the family.
