Best Chinese takeaway in Bedford. Loyal customer for over 4 years. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Well... I'm guessing this place has been taken over since my last review. Spring rolls were awful! Smaller, soggier with grease and all flavour was lost in the amount of salt added. Pretty much the same with the chicken chow mein. Wasn't able to actually finish it. Also had some sweet and sour chicken balls. "If I wanted them fired, I'd have asked for them fired"! So so poor!

Best Chinese takeaway in the area for me. Have tried several others and none come close to this, every dish is always on point and food is alway hot on arrival.

Tried the set meal for 4. Enough for more. Chicken balls and noodles ok. Rice ok. Ribs tough and dry.

The worst Chinese I have ever had. If I could have given minus I would. I had chicken and cashews. The chicken had been boiled so tasteless. It had 2 pieces of carrot. Mostly it was both bamboo shoots and waterchestnut both of those I hate. There simply was no taste. I also had the wonton soup. The liquid was dark and gluggly. Everywhere else in the world I have had this soup, the liquid was clear and extremely tasty. Nothing about this meal was nice. My brother had the chicken chowmein. This too lack flavour. Our chowmeins, are crammed with vegetables. The pancake rolls were nearly passable but only because we added sauce. The highlight was the prawn crackers. Never again for us. None of the flavourings were to our taste.

Everytime I order I ask these clowns to make it fresh and yet everytime they give me yesterday chicken.This time really is the last. No good Chinese food in Bedford. Taipan in Milton Keynes is alot better. Pity,food quality is in the freshness. Never again.

I posted a review months ago ......no response from owner so I posted a second comment..... still nothing from owner ...... I think its pretty bad business.......... My son n I had a takeaway from here 2mths ago ..... My review hasn't received any communication at all ...where I've noticed the. ' good ' reviews have ...... Didn't enjoy the meal at all .....

We haven't had a takeaway for ages but decided to treat ourselves last weekend. We have ordered many times from here and it never disappoints us. The food is delicious and hot and always arrives about the time that we have asked for it to be delivered. We highly recommend this Chinese. It is consistently good and we have never had any cause for complaint. Thankyou Oriental Chef. We look forward to ordering again soon.

My partner and I are both both vegitarian - you may remember him from a few days ago eating outside the shop, dreadlocs, and cleaning the mess that some kids had made... When ordering 4 veg spring rolls, we don't not expect there to meat in there! I am absolutely disgusted, after not eating meat for many years it was very dissapointing to bite into pork - completely against our beliefs. And of course, no response or apology. Disgusting service! Thsnks for your response, but thst doesn't really alter the fact that there was no care put into our order. Yes we ordered 4 portions of spring rolls, 2 of those portions were meaty!!! Poor service and lasvk of care from staff.

Excellent service very very polite on the phone we asked for a couple of slight variations of our phone order which were fully catered for, they said approximately half an hour for delivery 26 mins later we were eating absolutely delicious food prepared to perfection best chinese meal we have tasted in some considerable time will definitely be ordering from them again

Great tasting food with an excellent menu choice. Our first time ordering and delivery was speedy and excellent flavours on the dishes. We will definitely enjoy another takeaway from the Oriental Chef again soon!

I've been coming here for years now - best Chinese in the area and excellent customer service. Singapore noodles are especially good.

I've just noticed someone slagging off Oriental chef saying poor food and wrong food. Well I have spent a fortune on currys over the last 40 years and of all the chinese takeaways, Oriental chef is a favourite. I have never had poor food and i have never had a wrong order - from OC. They are nearly always flat out busy with a wait time of up to one hour. I often go to collect and the phone rings almost non stop. So if that doesn't tell you something then please stay away. Go eleswhere and take your attitude with you. I will be delighted if you don't add to the queue in front of me.

Don’t believe the bad reviews. This is a really good Chinese take out. We’ve never had any problems with them. The food is lovely and the delivery times has never been a problem.

I love this chinese! We've been using it for over 10 years and have always had good service and the food beats all other local chinese takeaways for taste and quality. Their Chow Mein is scrummy! Not too expensive either. Recommended.

After a few years i decided to order froom Oriental chef, Last week Kasha answered the phone and i placed my order, Food arrived and very nice it was! I then ordered again Male answered and told him what i wanted , I did ask for less oil on the Singapore Vermiccli .. Food arrived and it was disgusting the owner then resent another lot so exchanged for the first lot, However the food was even worse than the first lot.. I also said NO soya sauce but food arrived with soya sauce.. You may as well talk to a brick wall! Seriously.. Owner also stated that no woman works there.. After talking to the delivery driver he said Kasha works on the weekends there!! Wasted 27.00 tonight 15/10/2019... Last time i order from Oriental chef again!! Hope the owner reads this.

Found a half eaten chicken ball in my meal, Fxxxxxx Disgusting. Will show them the photo!! Update on my return visit Kim the shop owner was helpful and listened to my concern and offered to resolve this professionally offered a repeat meal for free, The order was hand written with no expire date. I returned to Kim shop for my meal on 3/8/19 And they didnt like my review which I posted, I was extremely disappointed that a half eaten chicken ball was put in our order. Kim's partner Bruce was as coming at me like money magic ready for action and repeating I dont care I dont care I dont care I dont care!! I attempted to sort this out sweetly this Friday it didn't happen. Bruce said I'm am no longer welcome after spending £100s in this take away just show they have no respect low life. They like to read review read this you suckers!! Hope people will start spending the hard earned money elsewhere🤬🤬🤬🤬 You will be hearing from me again soon so sharpen that pencil for the cheque book!!!!!

Took nearly 2 hours to turn up, order all wrong and cold. Called up to complain was told missing food would be free next time?? How can it be free if it’s missing?

Not even a 1 star food is dryad overcooked they miss thing off your order that you paid for say they'll deliver it and never do you wait over an hour for cold food had severve sickness never ordering again there due a visit from food standard agency as I bet there kitchen as nasty and slimey as there food is. I had a takeaway some time ago which was bad, so based on the good reviews i decided to try again, Big mistake as the portions were very small and the food was not up to scratch, I phoned the takeaway with my complaint on the size of the potions, They were apologetic and said they would correct the order (ribs about 4 small ones) which is really bad, I asked if they think that selling small portions was acceptable! They said it had always been the sizes ! Based on that i have never ever gone back there to order any food, Found a good one in Kempston..The Pearl!! which does lovely food....So guys as for the Oriental Chef you seriously have to AVOID this place.

We have been ordering from Oriental Chef for a while now and I have to say it’s very hit and miss! One minute you can have a lovely meal and then the next not so lovely. We usually get deliveries and every time we ask to pay by card the card machine apparently isn’t working so told to call back in 10 minutes and then it works, find it odd how one minute it doesn’t work and then 10 minutes later when you’ve called back it does. The last few times I have to say the food has been poor, the pancakes for the duck are always all stuck together so makes them impossible to eat. Ordered a takeaway tonight and decided to go and collect it, food was freezing cold! Really disappointed and unfortunately will not be going back.

Great food, good portions and not too long to wait. The people are friendly on the phone and are easy to communicate with.

This is the best Chinese takeaway I’ve had for a long time. Extensive menu which is freshly cooked and good value. No MSG here. Usually collect so can’t comment on delivery. Tried various dishes which have all been consistently good. Friendly staff. Would highly recommend.

If I could give a 0 I would! I ordered delivery at 18.50. They told me 1 hour and 15 minute delivery time which I was fine with. However when food turned up it was absolutely disgusting everything was cold. Wrong food was given. Rang up to speak to a manager or someone who would be able to deal with my complaint. They offered me 20% off on my next order... is that acceptable. The food was inedible and I had to throw my £25 order into the bin. I am absolutely disgusted with the way the woman on the phone handled it she had such poor customer service and seemed to have no idea what the hell she was doing. The seaweed I ordered looked like it had been left out the back of the store for about a week and then given out. The food is disgusting. I have been using Chinese for a very long time. And I will never ever be returning again absolutely disgusting!

So far the best Chinese food in Kempston. Good selection of dishes. Would recommend mix meat special if your on a healthy eating one as there is no rice or noodles. Yum

As the title suggested we really enjoyed the food but the portion sizes could do with being a bit more generous . The ribs were great though in taste and portion size

Ordered from here many times, food is always really nice. I normally order fried rice with roast pork and chicken in BBQ sauce and it's one of my favourite dishes from a Chinese take away.

If I could give no stars I would. The prawn toast had the look and consistency of a chewed up dog toy. Customer Service is a concept they appear not to be aware of. The Pearl is just round the corner go there.

Apparently them giving you the wrong food is a regular thing. They don't care that they do, and certainly don't ask for your correct order. Customer service appears to be an alien concept. And it's not like it's great food to begin with. There are better places to go in Kempston where you won't get so angry you develop angina. It's the end of an era. Been going there ten years. Downhill is a step slope.

Lovely Chinese shop that supports different cultures and needs. This shop will ensure that they are prepared to remove foods from the meal that you are allergic to and request that customers inform them to state if they have allergies to things like dairy and peanuts! Lovely pleasant staff

Una comida era ordenados por mi hija antes del trabajo y el tiempo de entrega se recomienda 16. 55 con la orden de colocar en 15. 30. Este fue aceptada cuando reservamos. En el 17. 30 la orden no había llegado y mi hija comenzó a trabajar en 18. 00 así que llamé al restaurante para cancelar el pedido. Un hombre contestó el teléfono y me explicaron el tema y que, debido a la demora me gustaría cancelar el pedido. Me quede impresionado con la respuesta que estaba estaban ocupados y deben contactar a comer para un reembolso y no era su problema. No estaba contento con esta respuesta y señalamos dijeron que no entendían los problemas con las entregas cuando él estaba ocupado. Mal que he trabajado en distribución durante 20 años la gestión de 250 entregas de un día. Lamentablemente no tuvo la atención al cliente y no mucha atención sobre nuestra experiencia. Mi hija ha señalado la comida es buena, sin embargo tenemos otro restaurante y ahora podemos usar. Merecerá la pena el cargo extra de entrega.

Really I find this is the best Chinese in Kempston/Bedford always fresh always good. Sometimes delivery can be slow, I just accept that and it's well worth the wait. Try the Hong Kong chicken and Singapore fried rice xtra hot.

We always use this Chinese as it seems to be one of the better ones in Bedford. The food is good and the set meals offer good value. Food doesn't take too long either.

This is in my humble opinion the best Chinese in Kempston and Bedford. We've used it a number of times and never had a bad meal, it's a little more expensive than Athens but I don't mind paying for fresh ingredients. Delivery times can be longer than anticipated but I guess that's down to its popularity

Of all the Chinese take always in Kempston and Bedford, and I have tested a good few, the Oriental Chef comes out top in my view. Reasonably priced, consistently high quality, free delivery (minimum order required) and an extensive choice of menu. What's not to like?

We have had a Chinese/Thai takeaway from Oriental Chef several times on a Sunday evening over the past couple of years. The food has usually been slightly better than the average Chinese takeaway (once was worse), but on our two latest visits we have arrived home to find, in the first instance, a sweet & sour dish instead of the ordered curry, and, on the most recent occasion, a beef curry instead of a king prawn curry. This is careless liaison between the polite but inefficient lady who took the order and the kitchen staff, and very annoying for us. I called in yesterday to complain, but they are closed until mid August.Will we visit again? Yes, if only to get some compensation for the mistakes.

I have had meals from here before and they seem to be going down hill with the quality of food, this is not a takeaway that I would recommend as I have had much better food from other nearby places.
