Oriental Chef in Northumberland

Small Chinese take-away. Big menu, and big portions. Set meal for 3 lasted 2 days! Food cooked fresh as you wait. Don't be put off by the somewhat decrepit interior which does need bringing into the 21st Century, as the food was great. Perhaps a little more heat in the curry would have helped mind you. Girl on the front counter (and phone) was nice and friendly.

On holiday got a takeaway special black bean and special Cantonese rice and noodles absolutely amazing portions large saved for day after. Doesn't look much from the outside but the food is amazing

get Chinese 6-day week lush service lush food from Paul Maureen dee the owner has started to do puddings cheesecake its lush just a £1 each

This is the worst Chinese meal we have ever had!! Absolutely disgusting 🤮 We ordered sweet and sour chicken and it came looking like grey chow mein in water...they wouldn't even give a full refund either

food ok but they mess up the order all the time then you have to fight for them to get it right. they refuse that they got the order wrong and you have to physically go back to the shop and show them. no discount no apology terrible attitude

Just a short review to help in people’s decision making process. While staying in a caravan park close buy we ordered a takeaway meal and made a mistake, we were hungry when placing the order and over ordered. However, we would have over ordered even if we had cut our choice down by half, the portions are huge. The food was perfectly acceptable, not the best Chinese we have ever had but still enjoyable. On the other hand the price of the food was extremely cheap compared to what we normally pay in Worcestershire. We had already noted low prices at the very good Indian just up the road the night before so perhaps its a North / South divide with the North winning out! The only other strange thing was they charged a 50p supplement for paying by card which I thought had been banned but as I had no cash and they threw in a huge bag of prawn crackers for free I didn’t mind.

Ordered the set meal for two persons and it was of really good quality. The portions ere rather large even after we had declined a second bag of prawn crackers. Chinese food these days can sometimes be a bit dull but this was certainly not and ingredients were not skimped on in any way. Lots of meat in the meat dishes and the sauces were first class. Didn't use delivery although it is available

Was stuck for a takeaway found oriental chef after searching for takeaways. Ribs / egg rice / chicken chow mein / half duck / Omg was surprised so tasty and portions huge! Thank you Oriental Chef !

Best Chinese in the land. I came when I saw the salt and pepper chicken. Ribs were mad Peng and overall it’s a huge W every time I attend this mad chinky shop. Would recommend, Love from D.

First and last so disappointing, hot and sour was ok but not brilliant. Main course was tasteless although plenty prawns. Hubby had crispy beef and it was awful so overcooked and it went in the bin.

Decided to eat Chinese as our intended venue was not serving food. Pleasant enough people but the foyer needed a little TLC. The food came reasonable quickly and was in the main tasty. Perhaps we have been spoilt by our local takeaway back home but the overall feeling was that it was not quite what we were used to and lacked a little something.

While staying at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea we decided to have a Chinese takeaway We choose Oriental Chef on front street. Plenty of choice on the menu They deliver for free they are closed on a Tuesday When they arrived and we opened them not a veg in sight all meat and not blucked out with veg So good we are having another tonight

Awful place mainly because of people. Views and landscape lovely. But rubbish problems. Needles found nearby. Very rundown

Wow had a chicken curry which came with rice or chips Sweet and sour chicken balls with rice or chips Noodles and prawn crackers all for £15 Best Chinese we have had in years and a great price it was very busy so must be popular nice friendly staff too

Ordered a munch box and it arrived with loads of chill sauce or powder over the chips/ onions. Contracted the Chinese and apparently is is a new thing is disgusting how there never inform their customers about the changes to their menus.

We phoned our order in and was told it would be 30mins. From previous experience we left it 45 mins before going in. When we arrived we where told it would be 15 mins (although we heard the man in the back say 20min). 45 mins later our food was ready, only an hour more than they said. Everybody who came in to the shop were in a similar situation and the phone was constantly ringing with people asking where their food was, most were told it was on the next delivery. Last time we ordered delivery was told it would be an hour but it took over 2 1/2 hours. The only reason I'm giving 2/5 because the food is decent and portion sizes are good. So if you don't mind sitting in a cold takeaway for 45 mins then worth a try. I understand that they get busy but don't tell people their food will be ready in 30 minutes when you have no intention of even starting to prepare it in that time.

Decided to get a take away,ordered chicken sweet and sour ,huge portion,really tasty and as a bonus you get free rice or chips with a main course

Had a delivery from this Chinese, the delivery guy said, have you tried the food? I said no, he said I won't be seeing you again then!The meal was Luke warm, the noodles greasy & rice was stuck together.I had a dicky tummy the next day.I'll give this place a miss from now on!

We are staying at Sandy Bay caravan park and it was hard to fins a Chinese that delivered but a taxi driver told us about it! We got a munch box... was piping hot, delicious and a HUGE portion! Well worth the money & definately be ordering next time we are here!

Tried other places munchie boxes and no where compares to here and it actually comes in a BOX unlike other takeaways. Tastes amazing each and every time!

The food was cooked well, very tasty and a quick service, Good value for money, It is a takeaway only, the staff were very pleasant.

shop not look much bad decor but the food is lush i go twice a week and have tryed a lot of the dishes all nice

We do enjoy having a takeaway here the chicken fried rice is lovely as are the battered chicken balls an the special noodles, only fault is that sometimes the delivery time can be quite long on a busy night so sometimes I drive for collection because I can get it 30 minutes quicker, there has been occasions that we have waited and hour and 30 minutes which is annoying when you have kids who want food.

Shocking customer service I ordered a takeaway for four people and was informed it would take an hour after two hours I phoned again to inquire about my order & was told it would be a further 20 minutes after more than three hours I phoned yet again only to find out that my order had not even been started at this point I cancelled the order.

Ahora haber probado algunos de los sitios locales chinos en la zona esta es a la que volver. Si tengo que poner un comentario negativo, entonces es que siempre parecen ser muy concurrida y pueden tomar un tiempo para la comida cocinada. Sin embargo, esto no significa que sé la comida siempre es suculenta cocinado y siempre sabe tan bien.

Cuando en unas vacaciones de caravanas que estábamos buscando una buena pizzería chino. Esto nos fue recomendado por alguien en nuestra zona de caravanas. La comida era deliciosa y los precios son muy razonables. Las raciones eran de un tamaño decente y el hecho arroz o patatas fritas está incluido en el precio de la comida principal era una ventaja. Incluso volvimos en nuestra última noche como lo disfrutamos mucho de la primera noche. Sin duda volvería si estábamos de vacaciones en la zona de nuevo.

We all got a dish each as you are never sure portion size but the portions were big (large foil tray), and meals were lovely. Highly recommend

Me visita aquí en muchas ocasiones y porque no me hacen un alboroto que continuará a ir; siempre solicitar una comida sencilla y pide que se elimine cebollas que nunca son, leve molestia que me tienes que recoger a casa. En la mayoría de las veces mi comida es fría pero no importa que todavía disfrutar el sabor.

El lugar parece un poco sucias dentro y fuera, podía hacer con una capa de pintura, sin embargo, la comida era excelente y a un precio razonable, disfrutamos de 4 de nosotros, si visita Newbiggin y buscando un chino entonces este lugar una visita.

The food was fine but it took them 90 minutes to deliver and the response to phone calls checking on progress was less than honest.

This is a take away. The food was excellent both in taste, quantity & value for money. If I lived here, I would use it regularly.

From the front, Oriental Chef looks like any other Chinese take-away but provide a high standard of range of different dishes and will cook any request.I'd highly recommend their Salt and Pepper Prawns.Dishes are also very affordable and come with a choice of rice or chips.The only thing I could really fault them on is their delivery time which can take over an hour on occasion. However, I believe this is a testament to how busy they always are.
